Yeah, I too contributed some dead coins and also wrote to forums and while I got coins, it was much lesser than this distribution. But hey, we can be glad they are giving some more coins for free.

Definitely. I didn't mean my post to sound like it was a bad thing for this giveaway. The only concerns would be if they have enough leftover for future signature campaigns and if they add value to the coin before they give them out. tk808 was great about the dead coin stuff, as their form at the time was really very iffy ... a lot of mine didn't even get through and he paid out anyway.

Anyone having wallet issues besides me? It was working the other day, but just now it wouldn't sync for me. Or perhaps I wasn't patient enough... but it didn't seem to even connect at all.

Hello poor, please add these nodes:

46.182.80.22:34311
173.236.43.58:34311
202.152.167.74:34311

Okay, thanks. For now I'll just use the polo wallet, seeing as they are keeping the coin up there. When I have time I'll play with the wallet again and add the nodes and see if it works. Mainly curious as I needed an address for the giveaway stake, and didn't want to use one from a seemingly nonworking wallet.
1783  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: URO unmoderated thread for Best Thread Ever award on: July 12, 2014, 08:13:43 PM

Yeah, the Uro thread was epic. Anyone who hasn't read it should spend some time there and observe first-hand an orchestrated FUD campaign.
There was one guy who spent about 12 hours at one stretch posting the same thing repeatedly in almost every page; another who race-baited at every opportunity, while another focused on posting links (including about a crime commited by someone named Bryan who shared the same surname with the dev!).

I stayed out of Uro, as I assumed at first it was simply a joke. Or some sort of weird metaphor for the shitcoins being released, but instead of shit the dev chose urea. After seeing the price go crazy, I now of course wish I invested in a shit... umm.. ureacoin.

So I didn't even follow the thread at all. I assume orchestrated FUD campaigns like that are paid by whales, or something similar? Every coin has its trolls/fud spreaders, but some are more insane than others. Maza had a handful seemingly posting every 15 minutes, for days on end. So if they aren't being paid, they are just completely insane or have no lives outside of this forum, I guess? Figure they got to be paid by someone.

Interesting, although I assumed you would have kept more coins aside for signature campaigns in the future. Eventually you will run out, assuming it goes on for a while. Unless you just plan to switchover to btc then.

Put my stake request in ... it's certainly an easier way to get coins than when I did some of those dead coin bounties back when your form was a bit wacky...

1786  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bittrex killing the altcoin market? on: July 12, 2014, 07:20:24 PM

In fact, Poloniex is now my favor exchange over Bittrex

At least Poloniex doesn't rush to delist coins that just listed for a few trading days. And even a coin gets delisted on Poloniex, you don't have to withdraw within a short timeframe and your funds are still safe there

Now Bittrex's quick listing/delisting business model does have a real impact on the whole altcoin market. Since Bittrex is taking more and more trading volumes, I can see that some other exchanges are trying to list new coins at a faster pace in order to compete with Bittrex

Therefore if the same trend continues, you can expect most (if not all) exchanges will eventually join the quick listing/delisting party

Welcome to the crazy altcoin world  Cheesy

I like both polo and bittrex. Bittrex has actually improved quite a bit since when it started, as at the time I wasn't sure they'd be more than any of the baby-sized exchanges (atomic trade, austin, etc). Their layout is a bit weird, but it has grown on me. Although I think bittrex could give more time to struggling coins, it's an exaggeration to say they delist them after just a couple of days. Usually it's 1-3 months, or more. There are plenty of coins on bittrex that really has lasted longer than they should (hongkong and Quebeccoin come to mind).

As for delisting, we all sort of knew that was coming at some point. Exchanges couldn't list 5000 coins all at one time. The odd thing is we have some people complaining about too many coins on the exchanges, and others complaining that exchanges are delisting too many coins. It could be argued that exchanges should simply list less coins to begin with, wait until coins have been around longer, and although I agree with that mindset, I think in practice it wouldn't work out so well. We'd just have another cryptorush spring up, where they list every single coin out there, as soon as possible. At least with bittrex they are delisting the junkier coins.
1787  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Maid Safe coin now trading on Poloniex on: July 12, 2014, 07:05:44 PM
17k per btc I think

Thanks. I see this in their ann thread:

Backers will receive 17,000 MaidSafeCoins per bitcoin sent to the SAFE Network Bitcoin exodus address or 3400 MaidSafeCoins per mastercoin

But the confusing thing is that mastercoin people got the better deal, but I don't recall what the going rate for mastercoin was at the time. And to confuse matters even more, they had that 40% bonus for the 1st week, and since it sold out like in 2 days, assume 40% was tacked on, or is the 17K amount already including that?

Basically I just want to figure out where may be a good buy-in point, as I expect a certain number of ipo people will sell their coins if they enter profit territory. But to know where that is, it'd be helpful to know what they bought them at.
1788  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Maid Safe coin now trading on Poloniex on: July 12, 2014, 06:40:59 PM
Anyone happen to remember what the ipo prices were again? I recall there were two sets, one for btc people and one for mastercoin. I just don't remember the numbers.
1789  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bittrex killing the altcoin market? on: July 12, 2014, 05:51:48 PM
They aren't killing the altcoin market in my opinion, but yeah, they and all exchanges could be a bit more choosey with what coins they decide to list. They could also vet them a bit more closely, both code-wise and as far as proposed features.

That said, the strong will survive, the weak will die off. So it sort of levels out in the end. They should give low volume coins a bit more time to get their act together, but if you look at the majority of delisted coins, many were coins that really didn't offer anything new besides a coin name/meme, or have much in the way of active development. Which is pretty much exactly what many in that shitcoin killing group want to occur anyway, but instead of relying on forking or whatever it was they proposed, the market simply takes care of it.

Where bittrex could improve is in regard to their coin ipos. They should use the same rules  Polo now uses, no funds to the dev unless he is using them for what he says he will.
1790  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpartanCoin - Cryptocoin for the competitive world. on: July 11, 2014, 09:46:02 PM

A comparable coin may be something like Diem, which trades around 40-80 litoshis and is also available for 1 sat btc.  You can rightfully complain that the ltc market isn't worth much, nor would it be likely for the coin to zoom into the btc market (although not impossible), but right now spn is basically worthless, outside of that occasional 1 sat sale. Might as well take what you can on the ltc market and move from there, if that is the only option available.

If you think SPN is worthless and you have some left, feel free to dump away on Europex.  Some of the bids there are mine, so I'd be happy to take some coins off your hands at fire sale prices.  Wink

My point being, the  price for the coin is currently worthless (or close to it). If it was selling in the ltc markets this entire time, on a real exchange, it would be going for more than it currently is.
1791  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So, which coins should I actually invest in? on: July 11, 2014, 06:31:24 PM
I see so many complaints about how this altcoin or that altcoin is going to tank that I'd like to hear something positive. Are there any altcoins that actually look promising?

Sure, there are tons of them. I suggest the following coins:

<whatever coins I am holding>

I expect many here have a similar view.
1792  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE / BIT-ADOPTION! on: July 11, 2014, 06:21:51 PM
It was absolutely needed since most are losing a perspective here.

The perspective that an extra week's wait time may work to the coin's advantage?

Extra week in cryptoland equals an eon of time elsewhere  Cheesy  but point was what dump are you affraid of? Do some fundamentals and maybe technical analysis before posting.

I tend to agree with this one. Didn't want to point it out though, but dude you sound like an ass. Give polite advice instead, maybe?

Redouble your efforts XBC community, not all is lost! Smiley

Well, what I don't get is this ...

Only reason to care if XBC gets added this week or next, is if you are looking for a pre or post MP pump. Sure it may sink a bit if it misses this week, but longterm it won't really matter.

As for fundamentals and tech analysis, if everyone is honest here, the coin has been through several dev teams, two lead devs who scammed people, a coder who is owed money and I'm not even sure it has a lead dev at the moment. Its not like it's some super strong coin that will inevitably overcome the traditional MP dump on voted coins.

Of course one could say the coin is currently so low in price that there isn't any room to dump anymore, which I guess was the point he was making. I simply meant an extra week's wait isn't the end of the world, and perhaps the devs can add something to the coin in the meantime.

I might agree with you if XBC had a giant lead on Redd and was a shoe-in for MP. Then we'd probably see a pre-listing pump, or mini-pump, this week and people could sell before the coin hits MP. After MP, the odds are people would just dump.

As it is now, the coin may dip, but if the devs add some new stuff next week, and assuming the coin will then be #1 in voting with tons of room to spare, just perhaps that is when a mini-pump could occur. Of course it may not, perhaps it'll just sink... who knows...

So I'm not sure what you are expecting really. The coin to get listed on MP, go sky high, just based on a temp dev team taking over the coin? With tons of people all looking to sell based on a MP pump?

cool, the only problem i have with this coin, is the name, is it just me or are there others thinking the same?

The name would be great if it was a crypto meant for a house cleaning service, but yeah, it's not ideal. The bigger issue I think is that the company behind the coin has been working on their decentralized internet thingy for years now, and still don't really have much to show for it -- besides a lot of ipo money being spent. And this maidsafe coin.
1796  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpartanCoin - Cryptocoin for the competitive world. on: July 11, 2014, 06:32:19 AM
If it is not worth at least 1 sat, would be glad if added on LTC markets once SPN hits Mintpal as long as there are buy orders.

I think the biggest mistake people have made here is simply not accepting an LTC market. When you have 10s of billions of coins, the btc market isn't always in the cards.

It should have been on polo this entire time, in their ltc market ... no idea why the devs never tried to get it there. If it does well, it can always move up, but you have to start somewhere.
How would being paired with LTC help?  It just gives people an opportunity to dump more coins until it's worthless.  Then people lose hope and leave.  How many coins have you seen trade below 1 sat and then move back up?  I'm not saying that none have done so, but I don't know of any examples.  Besides, SPN has been paired with LTC on europex for the last 3 weeks.  How much good has that done?  The vast majority of the volume has been at 2 or 3 Litoshis.  At the current exchange rate of almost 80 Litoshis/Satoshi, and given the average current alt coin mining income rate of maybe 150,000 sat/Mhash/day (assuming you micromanage your mining), if the best you can sell your coins for guaranteed is 2 Litoshis (3 only has a depth of about 1000 SPN right now, so I'm ignoring that), then you need to be able to mine (80/2)*150000=6,000,000 SPN/Mhash/day to compete with other coins.  At least when there were only BTC markets, coins would occasionally sell for 1 sat each, so you at least had a chance at getting a really good return.

All that said, such events have kept the diff low most of the time, so I've been happy to accumulate a significant number of coins. Smiley  Having it paired with LTC still concerns me, though.

Europex isn't exactly the best exchange, so saying the coin would sell for 2 or 3 litoshis would seem rather unlikely at an exchange with real volume. And if the coin gets on MP and only sells for 2-3 litoshis, I'd say the coin has some rather giant dev issues they need to deal with to add some value to the coin. Or in other words, you are doomed regardless.

1798  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE / BIT-ADOPTION! on: July 11, 2014, 12:40:12 AM
As odd as it sounds, XBC probably would be better of losing this week. The reason being, there really is little infrastructure behind the coin. The way to avoid catastrophic MP dumps is give a reason for people to hold... just going from no dev team, to temp dev team, and plopping the coin onto MP will most likely lead to a massive dump. You don't even get the advantage of pre-listing hype/pump beforehand (or if you did, it already occurred) due to uncertainty of when the coin will be listed. So if you lose out this week, it's really no biggie -- might as well give the dev team time to do something.
