2161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Warning: Please check that the computer's date and time... 0.8.2 Client on: June 12, 2013, 08:05:32 PM
Have you tried manually synchronizing your time with window's time servers? If you fail to synchronize with windows time, it means there's an issue. In some cases, your computer time may appear to be correct, but your timezone is set incorrectly, resulting in incorrect time.

'gcc' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
you either have to perform the command in a mingsys command prompt, or modify your PATH environment variable.

or for ezbuild, use VMWare+ubuntu+gitian build.
2163  Economy / Gambling / Re: BlockRun.com - Penny auctions on the blockchain on: June 12, 2013, 07:41:33 PM
As in, before it enters "blockrun" mode. That's when the "penny auction" really starts. The whole point of 0 fee TX is to minimize the cost of the DoS operation. An attacker can place 1 BTC bids at no cost to him. If someone bids higher than 1 BTC, it will undermine the trust of the site. Since any bid higher than 1 BTC is a guaranteed net loss, it's highly likely that the bidder is the site owner.

The only reason somebody would so this is to basically troll the auction. There is also the chance that the BTC1 wouldn't be confirmed, allowing others a chance to bid a lower amount in the hope they win. Either way, there is always a chance a user could be outbid.
But if the 1 BTC user is outbid, people will call shenanigans on the auction. Why would someone pay more than 1 BTC to get 1 BTC?
2164  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [3] countdown! on: June 12, 2013, 01:55:52 PM
Batch 3,

3 orders

all 66XX

none shipped, no word from Avalon. Sad
We had word on monday, actually. New SMT line is up and running, production is full steam ahead, expect shipment soon.
may you give us any source for that please?
their newsletter
2165  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [3] countdown! on: June 12, 2013, 01:49:35 PM
No, you imply that Batch #2 has shipped which is plain wrong. About 30 machines of the 600 have been shipped. It's widely publicized that was a test of the new shipping channel.
>implying "arrived" == "shipped"
>implying people from feb18 aren't already getting their ASIC

In the last newsletter, Avalon (Yifu) states that their new SMT line came online only last weekend. They can produce at best parts for about 50 avalon units per day.

Monday to Wednesday is a public holiday in China right now, so don't expect an shipping this week.
I like how they just shipped on june the 10th, which is supposed to be a holiday.

So from next week on, you might see 50 units ship per day, that means it will take them at least 2 weeks to produce parts and assemble units for Batch #2. That means at least 3 more weeks until most of the Batch #2 units start to arrive.
where are you pulling the 50 units per day from?

Then we have to move to all the special cases in Batch #2, which have not been sorted out yet, probably all those who have an unconfirmed order from Walletbit in Batch #2 wave 1.

That will be another week of work, at least.
Why would that take a week?

Then we have all the RMA issues that will pop up.

It's clear to say Batch #2 has NOT SHIPPED
how does RMA issues imply "not shipped"? I'm not following your logic.
2166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Boycott 0.8.2 on: June 12, 2013, 12:32:12 AM
Don't have to boycott, for those who don't want it, just don't install.  Or better still fork your own coin.
that's the definition of boycott
2167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin -> food purchase -> drone -> food delivered to where you are standing on: June 11, 2013, 10:45:42 PM
not feasible.

Civilian GPS accuracy sucks, (intentional to prevent US enemies from using GPS guided munitions) so your drone has to use LIDAR or similar navigation methods. Also, in the news story, the drone is only used inside the restaurant, essentially replacing a waiter.

They're bleeding money so I'm guessing they're sticking to bitcoin for bitcoin auctions. Those always seem to be profitable. But it would be a real shame if someone bid 1 BTC with 0 tx fee a few blocks before the auction started.

Before the auction started? You don't have the address to pay in by then yet?!

Also even without a fee it will eventually confirm.

Guys, how many extra hashes you will get programming oo? None notices the irony of things? Indeed, BTC was designed for PC, but "surprise", FPGAs and ASIC too control over it, hashes are today produced with very low level hardware, quite the oposite of "OO"..
lolwut.

we're not talking about miners here.

There are already APIs for interacting with thumbprint readers, aren't there?
nope
there are, but they are limited to digital imaging only. there still needs to be implementation of fingerprint -> key.

2175  Economy / Goods / [WTB]Buying iPhone 4S on: June 11, 2013, 09:38:21 PM
I want to buy an iPhone 4S. My offer is $250 USD shipped (BTC equivalent) for an iPhone 4S. Any carrier, any storage, blacklisted IMEI/ESN is OK. Price is negotiable.

edit:
No other models accepted, no cracks either. Scratches are ok but will seriously hurt my valuation.

no, C++ generally sucks.

I can code OO, but it sucks big time when you don't have a interpreter or duck typing. (python ftw!)

and of course functional programming is the way forward, not OOP.
you want duck typing? cast everything to void*  Tongue
2179  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 7970 awesomeness: Mining and playing games at the same time on: June 11, 2013, 07:53:11 PM
Just a fun thread: I accidentally forgot to close Cgminer and started one of my favourite games today. With a single 7970, i was still easily playing a FLUENT game. Not ME3 or BF3, mind you, rather a less hungry MMORPG.

These cards are crazy...
old news. even 4000 series could mine and game at the same time.
