2181  Economy / Economics / Re: Is global adoption of Bitcoin possible post-Covid? on: June 26, 2020, 04:00:18 PM

post covid when we know going out is safer. no businesses will likely accept BTC especially if they dont know about it right now. all they'd rather want today are subsidies from government. an assurance that we and our kids dont die in hunger in the coming months.
Yeah I think that the most possible answer for post-covid situation is the CBDC that plenty of countries are testing, as we move on to the pandemic ( I hope for it asap ) we are still not sure if the virus will or will not comeback so as we say we are going to a new normal where we'll get rid of the paper money probably to avoid the spread again. As I see from the news, countries like USA, Spain and China isn't really going for cryptocurrency. But don't be sad.

there is no room for bitcoin adoption today. there are still payment method apart from cryptocurrency which governments will approved. bitcoin isn't on their list.
Indeed. We cannot push for it now just because there is a pandemic, I know cryptocurrencies are made for this situation but so are the other digital payment. Having it with crypto is a great move, but there is just greater for now.
2182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why people are happy only when the price goes up? on: June 26, 2020, 03:27:11 PM
I think you already answered your own question. "People" can be categorize into different groups, and not all of them have the same thought. So when you ask why they are happy when X happens, you're only talking about specific group of people, not the other one.
Into simpler terms, some people are waiting to get into bitcoin obviously they wait for the price to go down and the other are waiting to get out of bitcoin and is waiting for the price to get hike. Basically the logic is simple, as we say that bitcoin unite us, it seems to me that bitcoin makes the competition among us all, pretty like western and eastern beliefs and culture. Now talking about groups the perfect example would be the whales and us the small players, whales can just inject a huge amount in the market and us? we cannot, unless you ready to lose bigtime.

In short, if you have a lot of holding (even 0.1 BTC can be a huge number for some) in bitcoin, obviously seeing it read for all day is not good for your mood. Even in stocks market you'll see the same thing. When you're on their position, you'd probably feel the same thing. That's just how we are.
I consider myself holding a decent amount of bitcoin ( as my POV ), some might belittle it coz they can do it higher but little did they know that I am just waiting for the price to go down before entering the market again, our mindset keeps us running to this industry I suppose.

2184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Volatility is good but... on: June 25, 2020, 04:22:32 PM
Volatility is part of what defines Bitcoin and some other cryptocurrencies. As the industry matures, the rise of cryptocurrencies that tracks the performance of less volatile traditional assets like real estates and commodities will likely bring a lot of beauty to the cryptocurrency industry. I believe that a mix of more volatile crypto assets and less volatile assets will give traders a lot of options to enjoy while trading.
Cryptos are not meant for trading and creating less volatile cryptos means? stable coins?
lol cryptocurrency is for buying and selling and that's what all about trading is, buying and selling of coins. Less volatile crypto does not guarantee stable prices, there are less volatile crypto because of low activity in the market however with stable coins, either low or high involvement in activity of the market the price stays the same, in short stable.

The market is perfectly natural for me, use the volatile crypto to gain off the market and secure them using the less volatile or stable coins.

Stable coins are centralized so which isn't a cryptos then decentralized crypto will be less volatile of highly volatile depends on the people using it.
Sorry man, I can't get the point of this, can you elaborate?
2185  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: Make it just a little more difficult to create a new account. on: June 25, 2020, 02:59:42 PM
If performing the simple task of verifying your registration email is to difficult for someone they are going to have a real hard time getting involved in crypto or anything in life for that matter. Sandy's point is valid, considering the only people this would really affect are people creating multiple low level accounts for spamming, or posting malware links.

But would e-mail verification really stop them? Even if the forum started requiring a unique e-mail address for each account - creating an e-mail address requires less effort than passing the captcha. Just add "+" to gmail.
I couldn't agree more on this, the only way to catch them all is on the inside which is from the forum. A person can register a single phone number for 5 gmail accounts, so it would just take 6 sim cards to possibly create 30 accounts in the forum. I think we need active members that is constantly reporting any suspicious action or shilling posts, it's not just the moderators work to find these people right ?

I also think that not all new registrants do not want to add contribution but just to read some discussions in here, I think we should have a guest membership?
2186  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Cheapest way to send php to the Philippines via bitcoin? (normie-friendly) on: June 25, 2020, 02:09:50 PM
Based on my experience using XRP bilang pang convert para mas makamura, ilang beses ko na ginagawa ang ganitong method ever since coins.ph accepts XRP and TBH it is really much convenient kasi mabilis din yung transactions ng XRP compared sa pagsend ng BTC to BTC.* Also, BTC to BTC then BTC to PHP might cost you 5-10% of your money sent (though I have not yet tried because I wouldn't risk any money para lang sa proof).
Same experience here.

Again, mostly para makamura ka sa XRP --> PHP transactions, you'd have to initially have the XRP.
I find it cheaper kase most of the time than bitcoin. Once in a blue talaga ako mag convert ng bitcoin, ang sakit sa mata ng fee and conversion rates haha.

Also, mas worth it ang ganito pag lower amounts. Mid 5 digits to low 6 peso digits worth of transactions though?

2187  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin.com forum closes ?? on: June 24, 2020, 11:59:18 PM
Maybe it's popular enough for people to know it exist but not enough to be actively use.

The URL isn't that unique though, can be typosquat easily.  I agree, I've heard of it about a year ago but I didn't bother myself to visit coz I know I've got enough in bitcointalk. Talking about forums, I know a lot of us visited the cryptotalk forum, do you know their pay-per-post incentive? they already get rid of that coz that only brings them a lot of spammer coming from a particular countries. I've heard they already come up to a new gimmick, instead of giving out money, they started giving tokens. Feel sorry for bitcoin.com, could've been experience a venture.

Most likely, the reason why they're shutting down their forum is because they aren't gaining much from it. I don't think this will have a significant effect to the overall community, in fact, Roger Ver being the myself > everything else type of guy makes me think this is actually beneficial.
Roger Ver could just fund it, why they need to close?
2188  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: trade & investment is getting harder and harder. on: June 24, 2020, 02:58:25 PM
I do not agree trading and investment are getting harder and harder., because you do not have the capital or knowledge so say so.
In my opinion it is not too difficult to invest in crypto, we only need to buy coins at low prices and hold up to the target sale reached.
It's not always the same for every one of us. I feel it too mate, trading becomes harder because of the growing community. There is a significant growth in number of traders in the previous years making the prices more unstable than ever, you can literally see the prices moving unprecedentedly. Though buying low and selling is still the best strategy to use, you cannot guarantee your winnings with sticking on it, you need to come up with something new that can cope up with the market.

Then for trading we must be smart at reading the market and can also apply risk management. If the matter can be done well, trading
or investment is easy to do. It can even be used as full time jobs.
I disagree on the latter words that you said. I can't imagine trading becoming a full time job, how can you do a sustaining profit every day? unless you're already rich so it would be nothing to you to lose $1000 in a day.
2189  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Binance Donate 3.5million worth of medical supplies to Philippine Hospitals. on: June 24, 2020, 02:07:34 PM
Thats why Binance becomes one of the fastest growing Exchange in the world dahil sa kanilang mga charity movements around the world.
It is really great to see one of the giants in terms of exchange to have done this kind of action ano, baka sa susunod nyan ibang malaking organization naman ang tumulong sa atin at iba pang bansa. I think this is how binance's way to say thank you for supporting their exchanges, I think hindi lang ito dahil isa tayong 'poor' country or developing country ito ay dahil din siguro sa filipino community ng Binance. This action of them will serve as their next step to get bigger.

Kudos!
2190  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Covid-19 effects on Bitcoin on: June 24, 2020, 01:15:40 PM
There was no significant effect, covid affected cryptocurrencies to a lesser extent than anything in the financial sphere.
We don't know this for a fact that we can't see it. We can't really tell how bad or how good the effects of covid19 in the cryptocurrencies, I can't imagine the prices without the covid19 but I am sure that there is an effect brought by the pandemic to the cryptocurrencies. People is the wholeness of the decentralization, pandemic affects the people, and that becomes a triangle. What is most affected by the covid19 is the stock market due to the panic of its holders. We saw the past first 2 halvings pumping the price of bitcoin, this time we didn't so I guess there is nothing special about halving  Huh

I have several email, recovery and back up email na naka save sa google drive para ready to reach lang sya kung may mangyari man na di kanais nais.

pangalawa Libre naman ang pag gawa ng emails so why hesitate to create many?

Malaking tulong to save time actually.

2192  Economy / Economics / Re: The Covid19 Curve is Flattening on: June 23, 2020, 07:10:13 PM
I read they are planning for a second wave by December this year. It will be termed Covid-20.
Who are they? Do you have any support links or documents regarding this news?
WHAT Huh "they" are planning for a second wave? who?

Flattening the curve, this was what we expected that may happen because we already know how to manage the virus and avoid the fast transmission.
There are certain cases in some countries but our WHO has a quick solution if there was an infected it should be isolated in a private room and those who are in close contact should have a swab test immediately.
In my opinion we will never be able to flat the curve, as we see the covid cases rising every day we cannot just eliminate the virus after a day of not going outside our house of disinfecting the streets.
The only way to flat the curve is to provide a vaccine, which is sadly expected to be out not until 2021, although we are hopeful that the clinical trials happening now will bring some positivity towards the pandemic.

The question is this; what will happened to the global economy if there is a spike in the spread of covid19 again ?
For sure we will have a global recession, an global economic crisis.
But I don't think if the virus will keep spreading, WHO had alternative treatments even if there are no vaccines yet. They called anti-bodies to fight the covid19 virus.
I'm sure it will increase again after the world reopens its half of the economy, it will be on the rise again. Maybe that's the consequence of reopening the economy, the sacrificial thing that we need to do to suffer less in the future in expense of someone's life. Anti-bodies does not have the cure for covid, what it does is it fights the virus until it can't basically it just slows down the virus in a body.
2193  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Was the sudden increase in Bitcoin price due to Pololiex Exchange? on: June 23, 2020, 05:48:55 PM
It so facinating thats events anywhere in the world could have a major impact on BTC. I am not always familiar with the facts and usually I just follow some of my crypto friends.
Then you must follow the news on your own and don't just depend with your friends. What if there are no friends that you can rely on regarding crypto news and updates that can affect the price of bitcoin?
Sometimes being alone in crypto is hard, it is pretty amazing actually how we turn strangers into friends because of crypto there's a lot of them in telegram channels ( but beware of the scammers ) sometimes other's opinion can influence yours, so it's better to hear other's viewpoint towards the market.

Every single news that comes from exchanges, most of the time they affect the price of bitcoin. If those exchanges are huge then they really matter. Like those news from Coinbase, Bitmex, Binance, etc. whenever you see news about them, look at the price and observe.
Exactly like binance. Binance to date is the biggest crypto exchange, high volume trading and liquidity most numbered users who could've think that the project in 2917 will going to be the biggest in 2020?
News although manipulated helps the people to speculate causing the prices to surge, like a cold and hot air making prices go wild however news are not always true, at the end of the day it is you that will matter, you're decision making will be your biggest enemy.
2194  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Enough of repetitive projects and old ideas on: June 23, 2020, 05:30:34 PM
In short, because most of the new altcoins nowadays are here just to SCAM people.
That's why most altcoins are repetitive projects, no originality or not being unique.
This happened relatively because of what emerged last 2017, the cryptocurrency is booming on that year leaving a huge opportunity of scammer to fraud people, now gullible people are not aware that this is already happening until 90% of projects ran away with their money.  And I must agree, new coins being introduced to the market are not having enough support to withstand the competition due to the problem the happened few years back.

For me, as time goes by, projects that are no use or shady will become not effective anymore because most of the investors will get lessons for past projects they tried to invest.
I'm scared people will lose their confidence and trust upon investing with cryptocurrencies especially the new ones. What I think is that, the investors will just stick to old projects and trading cryptocurrencies.
2195  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 325 million new potential users on: June 23, 2020, 03:52:47 PM
We can't guarantee that those 325 million user of PayPal doesn't use crypto. Most people are using master card or visa card already there's a lot of way to buy crypto using that method. PayPal might help to spread bitcoin awareness but not that much compared on how publishing site hype this kind of news.
Definitely. How can we be sure that these 325 million user of paypal will be into crypto after all? Ok let's say at least the half will try to use the new update, so what now? This isn't guaranteeing a mass adoption lol. I've read the rumors about it, about paypal and venmo to test crypto buying and selling services, paypal allegedly hiring crypto engineers for the project. I think this is a good chance for more recognition of bitcoin, but at some point we it might end up being the exit gates of scammers.

We are already on 2020 and I believe that PayPal user are well aware about crypto investment so if they really want to buy crypto, they will just use there card to purchase some since a lot of exchange are now accepting fiat for purchasing crypto like Binance, Changelly, Shafeshift and many more.
Imagine you're into digital payment method but does not know bitcoin haha though there are people who'd be like this but there more who are aware of bitcoin and putting it on paypal would not guarantee anything BUT still chances are huge as paypal is the most popular digital payment processor.
2196  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Earning From Digital Ads Will Be Taxed (e.g., Signature Campaign) on: June 23, 2020, 02:37:02 PM
Let's not argue the fact that the earnings from our signature campaign can be taxed or not dahil kung lumagpas ka sa tax bracket mo dahil na rin sa earnings mo from the signature campaign eh kailangan mo i-report yan at kailangan mo tuparin ang obligasyon mo magbayad mg tax.
Pero with the signature campaigns being taxed? malabo pa sa sabaw ng pusit yan, kasi kung tatanungin mo sila ng "paano?" hindi na nila alam ang isasagot, baka ang sabihin lang nila e " edi ireport nyo sa amin." they should research about it generally before coming up with this memorandum. Hindi naman ako ganon ka against sa pagbabayad ng tax kase sa taong bayan din naman napupunta yan ( unless kurakutin nila ) , even on taxing netflix and other internet services agree din ako kase kailangan talaga natin ng malaking pondo sa gitna ng pandemya. Pero sa pagkakataong ito, sa bagay na to, I strongly disagree.

2197  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it just me or has the entry bar become a lot higher? on: June 22, 2020, 05:43:52 PM
I noticed that your last post was January 29, 2016 which is a long time ago. Just above that (2017-2018) is the largest pump that Bitcoin had which you probably missed and the boom of ICO and a lot of projects which a lot of have turned out to be scam. Because of that, authorities have become aware of cryptocurrency and have made a lot of regulations and rules to control illegal activities within cryptocurrency.
That must have been the reason why exchanges and other crypto service related provider level up their security upon using their platform. As we all know the cryptocurrency has already attracted the eye of the government and all of them now needs to comply with Anti-money laundering law. If you could simply use an exchange any time you want even not verified back then, now the scenario isn't the same anymore.
If you have nothing to hide, or just simply trading or holding it will be fair enough for you to let them know who you are.

Is it just me, or are people really ready to give out their identity just to buy some Bitcoins on an online exchange?
All of people on a centralized exchange has to do the same, I find nothing wrong with it unless they use it to do illegal activities, that's another buggy thing.

2198  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Valid IDs on: June 22, 2020, 04:16:18 PM

Have you guys been asked the same offer? I'm wondering kung normal lang ba sya na inaalok just like fixing driver's license.

At mura ba sya sa halagang 300 pesos? I still don't have UMID pa kase or passport which is magagamit mo kahit saan, ang meron lang ako is police clearance and student ID.
2199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is another type of fiat money according to the New York Fed on: June 22, 2020, 01:14:46 PM
it is just that time of the year again when bitcoin market gets weird since the price doesn't go either up or down so everyone starts bringing out their crap machines and create all kinds of weird-ass statements about bitcoin.
in fact if you check the timing of this types of articles with the price movements you can see they are all focused on times like this!

Bitcoin has ALWAYS been under some form of social engineering attack, EVERYWHERE. The New York Fed is obviously gaslighting newbies by redefining the meaning of "fiat".
I'm sure they are, as bitcoin becomes more popular and people are enlightened on how it works, they need to do their job they don't want the other side of a currency, they want just a type of it ( well as they categorize it ) and I believe this isn't just an idea of Michael Lee, it was brainstormed to attack the sub-consciousness of newbies. The idea has some points though, but it was all clear since the beginning the cryptocurrency isn't a fiat, not a fiat just for a simple fact that it is decentralized  Wink
2200  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Advantages of Bitcoin Recognized by Land Rover on: June 21, 2020, 07:02:20 PM
They don't mean anything to it as they only shows a historic timeline where bitcoin is included, of course it will coz reaching a $20,000 in price as a " bubble" asset is seen as an impossible event. They only show the mere fact that bitcoin is recognizable as a variable in the future. I guess bitcoin unlocked the tech innovation for digital payments, it will be only great if Land Rover itself adopted blockchain/cryptocurrencies somewhat on their car features. Uhmmm unlocking a door using private key or seed phrase Huh
