Why people are happy only when the price goes up?

Especially in the wall observer, you will see people that want bitcoin's price to get increased. Although, if bitcoin price goes down, it's good for many people too. For example, I want to get decreased so I can buy more BTC

If we assume that there are only people with huge fortunes on bitcoin, then yes, it's too bad if the price goes down. But, except from those guys, there are the ones who are waiting to buy more. We never heard anything from them

To be honest those people holding bitcoin definitely they will be happy if price increse. Because they would get advantage of increased price by selling their holdings. At the same time some people will happy when decrease because they are waiting for accumulate more bitcoin. But my personal belief is holders are more than accumulators. That's why most of people feel happy when they see up trend on bitcoin price. But I also feel happy when increse price even I am not holder if much coin. I just want to massive positive move on crypto-currency market, not only for bitcoin.

I think you already answered your own question. "People" can be categorize into different groups, and not all of them have the same thought. So when you ask why they are happy when X happens, you're only talking about specific group of people, not the other one.

In short, if you have a lot of holding (even 0.1 BTC can be a huge number for some) in bitcoin, obviously seeing it read for all day is not good for your mood. Even in stocks market you'll see the same thing. When you're on their position, you'd probably feel the same thing. That's just how we are.

Many bitcoin users are HOLDERS, price going up is a inherent positive for these people. Day traders don't care too much about it, they make their money in other ways, so I'd say it just goes to show the amount of people that support bitcoin that are holders as well. That and, who doesn't like a bit of "free money"?

It is simple if I am HODLing Bitcoin then I would always want it to go up. On the other end if I am looking to accumulate Bitcoin then I would first check the price and if it is less or nearby to my earlier price entry then I will go ahead and buy more Bitcoin. At the moment since Bitcoin is still below 10k it is the right time to buy more.

People who are active in the space really want it to succeed. Many of us are not only investors and holders but also enthusiasts who like bitcoin related things.

I have a lot of Bitcoin gadgets like mugs and stickers, use a hardware wallet, write on this forum every day. I also read the news and check the price every day even when I'm not trading or waiting for a certain level. I consider it a part of my life like other hobbies and I'm happy every time there's positive news or a price increase.

If you really want to buy you can do it at any level. I was here when Bitcoin was worth 1000 USD. What if I did like you and decided that I'll wait and buy when it goes down because the price is too high? I'd never have any coins.

Simply, because most people here already own Bitcoin so they want to have more potential profit. Going down is only good as long as the price bounces back, but a lot of people here don't want to be traders who ride the waves of volatility, they want the price to reach "moon" so they can sell the coins that they have acquired years ago.

If you believe that the price will go up, why wait for the dip that might never come if you can already buy and still have a profit?

that's the nature of human. not contented for what they have. if possible, they always want more. but as an individual if you already find peace with yourself, you will just make the best out of every situation and be happy for what it's worth. but guess what, few people have that kind of mindset in their lives? it would take a lot of experience and struggles in life before someone achieved such contentment in life. so don't be surprised if people always clamour for more.

You wont able to spot out that those people who are happy when the price goes up are the ones who do also expect for some crash to buy more cheaper.

Have you ever read an article that mostly talks about Bitcoin crash? Behind those articles are actually the people who wants Bitcoin to crash so they could massively buy more.
Most of the retail investors wants it for Bitcoin to pump, that's why we can see a lot of post about disappointments whenever the price dumps.

Isn't the answer to this question is obvious? It is because there are many investors who are expecting another ATH since the end of a bull run in 2017. The current ATH of bitcoin occurred on 2017's bull run and it's been 2 years those times are already enough to buy a lot of bitcoins. Many users and investors of BTC are also aware of the bitcoin halving meaning, a bull run or new ATH might happen so why people are hoping for a decrease right now? It's very wrong timing. Recently, the BTC has a downfall to $5,000 in March, it's another opportunity to buy before the bitcoin halving so I guess there's no other good reason to tell that a decrease in price value should happen.  

And besides, there are many organizations' that has a goal for the advancement of technology, relies on the surge of BTC so I guess the majority of the users especially those big investors wants it to go up and those who want decrease are users who are late to realize BTC's potential this year.

Those who don't do some trading want it always to go up but those who does really want to get some bags of it before it goes up again, that's easy to understand. For me personally, I want both and besides that's the nature of tradable assets.

This is a natural instinct but people never do realize that they'll have no profit if they don't sell their coins on raised price and would suffer much larger when the price goes down back to the normal even if they are not selling it. Even many sellers find the same value of decrease to be more drastic pain than the same value of increase's joy.

buying the dip in a downward price swing is cool but really any purchase at the moment is a pretty solid bet (IMO of course). so no, while the price going down can benefit some, for us greedy types, not so much.

W.O. has its own culture, majority of them are long term holders or have accumulated bitcoin through out the years.

Of course, as the price decrease more people can buy bitcoin just like us, average joes. And you have to understand where those guys are coming from. And don't be affected though, invest wisely, and as preach, buy the f*** ing dip (BTFD).

Not true always. For example, I always become happy when I see BTC price decreases. I am getting paid in bitcoin from one project, also by bestchange signature campaign. If the price decreases, I will get more BTC in my holding 
Wall observers have traders, holders. So, some will be happy when price increases but holders never care whether price increase or decrease.

there is a wide range of reasons!
for example rising price is a good indication of increased adoption whereas we don't have that many ways of measuring adoption. so we are happy when we see adoption increase.
increasing price at this point also shows the market is moving in the direction to correct the reverse bubble that bitcoin has been stuck in for some time and make the market healthier while bring the bitcoin price to a more realistic value.
and of course as others mentioned and you have already guessed when price goes up the value of what you own increases, you could see it as profit or increased purchasing power.

also we have another group who are traders and don't care about rise or fall they only want price to change (go up OR down) because they make profit either way.

Volatility of the market is a good thing although many don't like to see dips in whatever coin they have there most specially those short time investors, but to long term investors and holder, they see it as an opportunity to buy more bitcoin or altcoins they wanna invest. Most people especially traders, they enjoy the volatility of the market, the dips and pump we all see is like an ocean wave for them to surf and no matter what it is they face, either the dip or the pump, they are happy with it.

That is because people can sell the bitcoin at the highest price from the price they bought, which means they will make a profit. No matter how much bigger the profit, they will still be happy, and they will want to wait for a while to buy another bitcoin at a lower price. They think that if they can buy at a low price and sell at a high price, they will make a big profit, and they imagine if they can repeat the process for more than 3 times, that means, they will make huge money from trading. That will happens with the altcoin trading too because they can make more and more profit as bitcoin trading.

But if the price is down, people will be happy too because they can buy at another lower price, so they can hold again for a while until the bitcoin price can increase. Making a profit will be the reason for the traders when they see the price goes up.
