Case for LTC

+new dev hired
+some Anon project from Colby

Great coin with lots of positive news lately for those paying attention. Looking forward to what's coming for this coin. Here are my reasons for liking this coin:

  • Capable of four times as many transactions as Bitcoin in a ten minute period. Frankly if payment processors had adopted Litecoin in the past year current Bitcoin block discussions would be irrelevant (and likely the price of both coins higher). Anyone who has watched these discussions understands the immediate advantage of a network with larger transactional capability.
  • Faster confirmation times. The only people who don't think this is important have never spent a single coin or they have patience that the average person does not possess.
  • The faster block time of litecoin reduces the risk of double spending attacks.
  • Anti-spam.
  • Fast well established network. Current Hashrate is 1,643 GH/s. Since scrypt is memory intensive it is known to be approximately 1000 times slower hardware wise in comparison to SHA256. Fair comparison to the Bitcoin network requires multiplying that hashrate by 1000 (1,643 TH/s). The fact is for most of Litecoins history the hashrate has been relatively high and secure. Those comparing it to the Bitcoin network without considering this 1k factor are either being disingenuous or just ignorant of the facts.
  • Continuous development look here at number of releases in past year: https://github.com/litecoin-project/litecoin/releases
  • Upcoming new features and active development look here for whats happening in 2016:
    https://litecoinassociation.org/data/roadmap.pdf
  • Longevity. Many coins have temporarily eclipsed litecoin as they were marketed for the purpose of increasing the fiat accounts of a small group and emptying the accounts of new users. Unfortunately this has been detrimental to crypto-space in general.
  • Great community. Definitly helps when consensus is needed.
  • Fully supported by GoCoin a growing merchant payment processor used by thousands of merchants https://www.gocoin.com/ as well as other processors such as coinpayments, Asmoney, Alfacoins and Coinify
  • Liquidity. You can sell thousands and not crash the market. Maintains value. Look at the chart here indicating volume in the last 24 hours relative to other coins http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/litecoin/#markets in fact volume has remained high month after month for years.
  • The speed, liquidity and value of Litecoin is useful to traders seeking arbitrage opportunities between exchanges.
  • Now on GDAX soon to be on coinbase.
  • Upcoming release to include a on-chain adaptive block size scaling solution. This will substantially increase the transactional capacity of Litecoin.
  • Planned anonymity features for an upcoming release. https://www.reddit.com/r/litecoin/comments/53c0v6/confidential_transaction_for_litecoin/
  • Fair release. In a crypto world of premined and ICO releases many appreciate this fact. The code was released well before the Genesis block was mined and everyone knew when it would be going live; therefore, individuals could anticipate and get their miners and software ready.
  • It's primary function is to be a cryptocurrency.
  • Still mineable in many western countries even after electrical costs are factored in. Here in Canada my Titans still make a profit long after shutting my Neptunes down.
  • It will always maintain the integrity of the blockchain (no hard forks for special interests).
  • Security.

2184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Update to 0.10 Wallet - Merge Mine w/BTC! on: October 27, 2016, 04:45:15 AM
China might be smarter than you think.
They can cancel all their debt with foreign held bonds.  And they can hit the exit hard.
Others can not unwind without crashing all support.

For the housing bubble it will piss off the upperclass invested in dozens of apartments.
But a devalued Yuan (to remain export competive) coupled with falling housing prices brings all those new and empty units within reach of the rising middle class.

But yeah guys with wealth are going to flood into crypto, after dumping their real estate.

I know Chinese investors love collecting rare walnuts.  Perhaps it will be an easy argument to snap up 1kg of 'the BTC' backed fair and rare coin.

I think it would be smart to participate in a project that provides

2185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CannabisCoin [CANN][X11][Official] Developments & Discussions on: October 26, 2016, 02:11:38 PM
So you still think CANN is a legit project? D9 gone doesn't mean the project lost its reputation?

After the premine scandal and the stupid 1CANN = 1gr. We agree that he screwed us?
No. I dont agree. You have to be patient and things cannot happen that fast... .

You deserve negative rep for that statement ..

BUMP!

....
I will say this ... faith in D9 is like faith in the toof fairy ...

HOWEVER,
CANN is a viable project.  Just takes community unity (screw the dev).
It is not difficult to maintain a network.

'POS are not undoubtedly more secure'
'which chain is preferred when a fork is presented'

so there is still doubt despite several years of working chains? (ppc)
i would suggest the POS does NOT really 'move the chain' [in this case here /3-way hybrid PoW]

rather provides oversite, and executive rights when a fork is presented
in the meantime it manages network stuff, rewards 'vested' holders, rewards reliable working nodes, other accounting stuff

Why community do not take control- takeover? It is such a shame for good coins to go to oblivion..
What wallet should i use, can i help network somehow?

Last block is 27 days ago, network is dead.

I don't see a chance for a new life now. Sad.

'should be like an investment in shares'
YES!

'as an alternative to Bitcoin'
NO .... BTC is liquid king ... the consumer/retailer is going to peg prices to $usd ... POT could likely be the first to be used as 'money' ... but it will likely still be immediately sold for $credits on the open instant market.

BUT people who agree hold as an 'investment' in a project were retailers agree to redeem for fixed amounts (coupons) ... THAT is the otherside of these coins.
2193  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the Best Marijuana Coin? 'ii' on: October 25, 2016, 12:51:47 PM
every marijuana coin is a pump and dump, and it should be obvious.  Anyone with a brain will not touch these coins with a 40-foot pole

I observed so. But I like the HMP coin. Something like it has a rhythm on exchanges. Its a pump and dump case also but its fun to trade with.I do not have experience trading with other Marijuana coin aside from HMP.  Grin

'pump and dump'?

2194  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Idea for an altcoin: 3-way hybrid PoW on: October 25, 2016, 10:52:11 AM
I like it, very interesting idea!  In terms of the difficulty getting stuck what if there were two parallel mining algo sequences, so you use the original block height mod idea, but two algos are allowed to compete each time based on that.  Basically the benefits of the original idea with paired algos competing on each block.  This way, for example, 2 PoW mining algos would have to be attacked for the difficulty to get stuck.
let them all compete
diff would increase for the winner and inversely decrease for the lossers

the POS side would focus on managing the network, verifying, validate consensus functions

and add a data storage layer (see sia/burst) ... sorta like steem but better.

Nationalism is what is on the Horizon.

forex wars;
They will crushes more minor currencies to maintain value.

JPY or EURO bonds are the triggers.

China will unwind fast, Russia has null in the game.  They will be by standers.

So that sets-up SDR or BRICS as the new reserve class.

And about 18 months to play it out  Wink Wink
