221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Seems there is a couple different versions of the Nvidia 1080ti on: December 28, 2017, 09:33:37 PM
Smart move on not going crazy till u figure it out.

IMO the cards are all the same, what you're really paying for in the higher cost 1080's are the upgraded fans and heatsinks. If you're just rocking 1 or 2 just go with the cheapest one. Zotacs ASUS EVGA are what I personally like, I hate MSI and Gigabyte.

so what's this nicehash deal - they aren't going to pay the old balances unless they are .1btc or they just aren't paying the new balances until the balance reaches .1btc?

223  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to remotely force a "full reboot" on: December 27, 2017, 05:55:31 PM
Personally I would fix the actual problem vs worrying about rebooting all the time. That sounds like it could only get worse in the long run catastrophic end result for that rig.
224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 6x1070ti? Profits? on: December 27, 2017, 05:40:40 PM
Thinking of buying a mining rig. It has 6x1070ti video cards. Can you tell me estimated profits on various altcoins? I am not sure if i should buy it or not.

Welcome - you can check out whattomine and see what the profits are, also read around the board there are plenty of folks that have posted what they are getting, there's also a dedicated 1070 Ti thread (couple of them) that post results.

Happy reading.
225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How much would it cost to build mining rig? on: December 27, 2017, 05:38:44 PM
How much should I spend on a power supply?  I am building a rig with 6 1070s and was thinking of buying a EVGA SuperNOVA 1600 P2 80+ PLATINUM.  Any advice is appreciated.

Can't go wrong with those - they are pricey but those and G2 850's are my 2 top favorite PSU's. I also have Thermaltake 1500, Quark 850's and Corsair 850's, all of them have been hashing away for the past year no issues so far but who knows down the line.

Phil do you know if SMOS can run on 16gb usb or does it need something bigger ?

I had a couple running off 16 no problem.
227  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: inexpensive motherboards for mining on: December 25, 2017, 09:47:36 PM
So I been thinking its more cost effective to run 2 boards with 12 gpus rather than 4 boards with 6gpus.

Can windows now handle 12 gpus from nvidia?  Is one specific 12gpu board better than the others?  I believe there is asus, asrock and biostar.

I was also thinking of using a server power supply or multiples with the pico power supply adapter to power everything.  Will these boards work with the pico adapter?  On parallel miner it seems most boards won't work off the pico supply adapter.

It's nothing really to think about, it's simple math.

Yah difficulty is creeping up there for XZC.  It is tough to give up on it as the power consumption and configuration is a plus as pointed out by betiteh0777.  XZC seems like a good potential candidate to hold long term to me.  I'm curious to see where it is in 1+ years.

I have a ryzen 1700 am tempted to try mining XZC with it if it is profitable.  I really have no idea what cpu miner client to use for Ryzen and lyra2z.

what board are you using and how many gpu's/ pcie slots you working with? tempted to build a cuple ryzen rigs but think i'm just in consumer mode and just buy happy.

I expect more from Hero and members. Use search. It's on the manufacturers website, Want more proof contact manf.
231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: inexpensive motherboards for mining on: December 25, 2017, 08:59:16 AM
Just remembered I have 5 old ass desktops collecting dust with i7 3770k's in them cracked one open, the board only has 3 slots so probably wont use it for mining. Good news is they all have 4 8gb sticks of ram in each of them, so i'll be taking those for new rigs lol. Can't believe I have so much crap I just let get burried in the garage. Found 4 boxes with a bunch of tp link routers, $200 each router, 10 in each box. I'll be returning all 40 of these to costco. Gotta love that they've been sitting in the garage for 3 years, But I'll still be returning it for an $8,000 full refund.
232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 5x 1080ti mining rig windows 10 freezing stability problems (SOLVED) on: December 25, 2017, 08:51:35 AM
What are the specs on the rig that you're having so much problems with it? In our last warehouse we had over 400 1080 Ti's and never had this issue, all of them were built the same though, just standard g4400's on asus primes and good power supplies.
233  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Spotswood case 8 card build = nice on: December 25, 2017, 06:29:17 AM
You did an amazing job there Phil!

I have 5 of those boards coming - well the ones with 8 + 4 slots, so thinking I'm going to do 7 hybrids each on the board and 5 cards on risers. The 5 on risers I still have to figure out how those will be mounted but your pics are definitely giving me some ideas before the boards arrive so thanks again can't wait.

What are the tricks to getting more than 1 card from Newegg and others?

Of course I could have friends and family order them.  But could I use my credit card and setup accounts for them and have them shipped to them?  If I use my credit card then it'll have my billing address and the number would be the same as my Newegg account.  Wonder if they match any of that up?

Also, how do you pick between the different GTX 1080 Ti cards that EVGA makes (or others for that matter).  I like the hybrids, but curious about all of them.  Only difference I can see other than the cooling and fan arrangements, they all look the same.  The lower end models have slightly slower base and boost clock frequencies, ranging from 1480 / 1582 all the way up to 1582 / 1695.  It's easy enough to overclock with software.  Does that mean the lower end cards can't clock as high overall?  Does it really matter for mining?

At the end of the day their settings can be over ridden by your afterburner settings, all it does is make mixing cards a PITA but if you're buying all 1 card it (IMO) doesn't matter 1 bit.

What you're paying for with the cards is really the fans and heatsinks etc they put on them, which is why the Hybrids are more money, they're all literally built using the same boards (just about). All companies do is add their little fans, heatsinks etc.

235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Was getting MH/s now geting Sol/S on: December 24, 2017, 10:47:50 PM
I'm running a regular 1080 (so I believe about he same at your 1070ti) on EWFB's miner.

I searched when I was getting like 24 mh/s and people were saying that was average for a 1080 also. Does it just depend on the algorithm then? Maybe my miner was just showing wrong before.

different algos different hash rates usually.

236  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Electrum/verge wallet not working, plz help. on: December 24, 2017, 07:26:32 PM
You realise that Electrum is  BTC only wallet right? Huh It has nothing to do with Verge... or are you specifically talking about the Verge "fork" here: https://vergecurrency.com/ ? Huh

O reeeeeeally .. .

238  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NEMOSMINER multi algo profit switching NVIDIA miner on: December 24, 2017, 09:54:49 AM
What's the general consensus on the interval setting for changing algos? Of course the profitability for each algo fluctuates, but having it changed every minute makes sure you loose quite a lot of hash power switching between miners. For now I've set it to 5 minutes, but curious to hear what other people are using.

How did you switched it to 5 minutes?

Hey @phillipma1957 what are my chances of getting two Onda v2 8 slot boards by the end of the year?  I don't need to take delivery but want them paid for in calendar year 2017.

I'm pretty sure I don't want to deal with risers anymore.  Just built my second four card 1080 Ti rig and the risers were a bitch.  One of them ended up being bad or incompatible and it costs me a ton of time.  Plus, risers are such a kludge when I see that I can build a multi GPU system with one of these new motherboards.
bewre though those cheap onda chinese boards can have bad slots
out of 5 i have one is totally bad, three good ones all 8 slots working and another only 4 slots working
Well only 4 slots working wouldn't be too terrible since I plan to only use 4 so I can space my cards out for better airflow and run the rig on one 1200 watt power supply.  In reality I wouldn't want $3,000 worth of cards running on a flakey board.

Is there a consensus regarding which riser-less mining mobo is the best?  Or maybe need to wait for the category to mature?

Couple pages back a couple members were nice enough to throw in some pros and cons of each of the boards.

Ah crap. Maybe I should have ordered extras I only ordered 5 of them to test.. if the fail rate is that high I probably should have doubled the order. Ah well. Crossing fingers.
