221  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is your prediction price of bitcoin end year 2017 and why? on: October 20, 2017, 04:08:24 AM
I'll go with $7,000. I expect there to be some drops before the 2x hardfork and then it will continue to rise up. I just pick $7,000, because it is optimistic but not to pie-in-the-sky where it just won't happen.
222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it worth moving 1/2 a Bitcoin for the hard-fork? on: October 20, 2017, 04:04:51 AM
Is it worth it? No way to know for sure, but if I was to guess. I'd say yeah. Where you should move your Bitcoin is simple. Two words. Paper... Wallet... Paper wallet. The best place to store your bitcoins without a third party of any kind is a paper wallet. Just generate an address and send your coins there.

Very secure from the cyber world. Just don't lose the sheet of paper, because that would suck.
223  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cloud Mining? Any Suggestion. on: October 20, 2017, 03:55:19 AM
If you were to build your own mine, would you rent out to others to use or use it yourself? So why would someone rent out their mining "shares" if they could use it to mine Bitcoin themselves? This reasoning would lead me to believe that there probably aren't any legitimate services out there. I don't know for sure since I've never checked it out. I doubt it though.

I guess you could say they need more finances, but I think there are a lot better and easier ways then building a website to reach out to people. A better way is to scoop up angel investors or get a loan from a bank.
224  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BITCOIN mining advice? on: October 19, 2017, 05:51:54 AM
Yes, don't do it.

Unless you are willing to build a huge mine with tons of computing power then don't even bother. Chances are if you try to Bitcoin mine on a small scale, you will make so little money or even lose money due to cost of electricity.
225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Segwit2x Affect Investors on: October 19, 2017, 05:40:56 AM
I believe there will be a panic before the fork where a lot of people sell. Once that happens and all the FUD is out of the way, Bitcoin will boom again.

RGBKey has a point. The fact that so many people view BTC simply as a way to make money is a problem. BTC should be viewed as a new way of technology, a new way of money, and a new way of living.
226  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitfinex Announcement - Canceling All U.S. accounts. on: October 19, 2017, 05:33:55 AM
This really is upsetting. I have been a great fan of the Bitfinex exchange and their platform. I've been taking my funds out sooner rather than later. I don't want to be with the herd of people trying to withdraw at the last minute and possibly facing difficulties. I'll have to look for a new exchange with the features that I like. The only thing that has come close is Poloniex, but they require SS which is kind of a red flag to me.

I read a lot of threads about people saying "the government can't ban Bitcoin". I guess I could say I told you all so, but that still sucks for all of us anyway.  Sad

Is really Bitfinex the reason of this commotion? I think not it is all about with the USA and its citizens as the government of them are regulating that exchange for they think are good in their country and Bitfinex is only doing this kind of thing for them to operate legally for other people eyes, they are only following rules and some danger to their company so instead of fighting their wants they just bend with it. Americans can still use cryptocurrencies exchanges or this Bitfinex exchange if they want to as there are so many ways if they really want it.

I really want it, but I'd be afraid of getting caught. I feel it is too risky to use a proxy or whatever and get busted later on if my account grows to something substantially large.
227  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happen with Bitcoin cash after 25 october? on: October 19, 2017, 05:11:24 AM
BCH is likely to plummet further when the next fork happens (Bitcoin Gold). Sell your BCH ASAP, I left it late & did it last week, wish I would have done so earlier.

Good choice to realize this and make the correct choice instead of chasing your loses.

I'd also like to make another forecast. The same people who decided to go bullish on BCH are more likely to be flip-flop people and choose to go with whatever the "new" thing is. Chances are, a lot of them will sell their BCH to buy up Bitcoin Gold.

If I could short BCH, I'd probably do it, but I live in the US so I don't think this is possible.
228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin + Bitcoin Cash.... on: October 19, 2017, 05:04:49 AM
Bitcoin will be used for big purchases in the future... cars + houses

Bitcoin cash will be used for small transactions.... coffee, smokes, dinner etc

Buddy, I agree with you. Because it has become impossible to buy small things with bitcoin by giving such a hugh transaction fees. Just imagine if someone wants to buy a thing for 15 dollars, he end up giving nearly 18 dollars including the transaction fees to buy it. So its not feasible to buy things which are of small value. Instead of bitcoin, off course we can use bitcoin cash to buy things of less value because of its less transaction fees.

I don't understand how people suffer this. For me, Bitcoin has only cost $1 for a very large transaction at most. It may be the middle man service that some of you are using. Eventually Bitcoin transactions will be pretty much pennies if not free.
229  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it just me or do the smartest people all still support bitcoin? on: October 19, 2017, 04:52:11 AM
I agree. I think a majority of the world probably sees it that way considering Bitcoin is the highest price coin. I don't think all these altcoins are worthless though. I believe that they push Bitcoin to be greater. It is weird though how people are like "Etherium will over take Bitcoin" and "Bitcoin Cash is soooooo good. The price is dropping like crazy, because people are realizing it is garbage, but OMG it is soooo fast and decentralized. It out-decentralizes Bitcoin."

I think some of these people get off on themselves with going-against-the-grain-feel-good emotion. So much to the point that they've convinced themselves it is a good investment decision.

Okay, Ethereum they may be able to make an argument. BCH is just a joke though.

I'm with you too. Bitcoin is supported by the people of crypto that know about the technology. The creator of Ethereum probably is a genius and they probably have brilliant people working behind it too.

Hey, I heard dogecoin has great potential.  Roll Eyes  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

230  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Looking for best way to store bitcoin wallet long term on: October 19, 2017, 04:32:37 AM
Heyyyrenz is correct. Paper wallet is the best option. It may be more convenient to use another one like an exchange or hardware wallet, but paper wallet is the best imo.

Especially for not technologically savvy people. A lot of tech people are like "All you have to do is check your node 5.3 UZ drive. Upload that to your IDE. Next compile it onto your hard drive. Once you've done that then just link your IP address to your MySQL transfer data set link backup file. Save that with either .jv or .bbo extension. If that fails then just whip up a couple of proxies and all will be good."

Most of us aren't like that and don't understand all that fancy stuff, so just use a paper wallet. Generate the address, send Bitcoin to that address, and never use the private key until many many years later when Bitcoin is more safe or until you want to transfer your funds into another currency.

Put your paper wallet in a safe or somewhere safe where it won't receive any damage.
231  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin + Bitcoin Cash.... on: October 19, 2017, 04:18:25 AM
Bitcoin will be used for everything.

BCH will be used for nothing. Boo Bitcoin cash. Everyone knows Bitcoin is the best. People see other people type about it being bulky, slow, and blah blah blah. The reason why Bitcoin may be slower is because it has huge volume. I'm not saying it is faster than some coins like Litecoin, but it is number one for a reason. One of those reasons is that it is actually used to buy things. Name one place where people can spend BCH? You can't. (Okay, maybe you can, but you probably googled for it... yeah?... come on admit it.  Cheesy)

In the future BCH will be a token. For like, fun... err... yeah.

I see a future where there's only going to be a handful of coins that will be used as currency. The rest will be more like for fun... for like a token... kind of... um... coin.

Guess which category BCH will fall under?
232  Economy / Speculation / Re: I do not have the guts to buy bitcoins now. on: October 18, 2017, 03:38:03 PM
You may not be able to buy a full Bitcoin, but you can still buy a portion of Bitcoin. If you invest $1000 for BTC0.2, your investment can still grow. You don't have to buy the full bitcoin since it is broken up into 100,000,000 sub units called Satoshi.

What Jonashe says is reasonable, but remember that past results do not guarantee future results. There may not be another dip again. I'd buy now if you haven't already.

234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dimon [ JP Morgan CEO ] Continues to Make a Fool of Himself.... on: October 16, 2017, 04:55:27 AM
Over time his words will be forgotten. Eventually Bitcoin will perform on its own and people will turn toward bitcoin regardless of what Dimon has said. All of the people he could have influenced by now have already been influenced. Now he only speaks to no one.
235  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WTF is Bitcoin? on: October 15, 2017, 07:28:08 AM
No, gold is a physical thing you can hold in your hand. Bitcoin is electronic data. It is stored on the blockchain for everyone to see. Everyone cannot see all the gold. The blockchain cannot be manipulated unless there is someone who controls over 51% of the mining power. Gold can be melted and turned into other material. Both are hard to change. Gold and Bitcoin are similar in some regards, but also very different.

There is always a war somewhere, but I don't believe it has any effect on whether people want gold or bitcoin.
236  Economy / Speculation / Re: SELL Bitcoin? Massive Resistance Rejected! on: October 15, 2017, 07:21:56 AM
Fibonacci retracement levels sounds fancy, but I don't think it really has any effect on the price. Random Robert millionaire could be taking a dump and decide to buy a huge amount of Bitcoin, because one of his friends recommended it to him in a facebook message. I don't believe there is any way to predict the market in the short term. The volatility is too great and unpredictable.

Patterns that people see are just things they want to see. If you look at a bunch of random numbers you can eventually start imagining patterns starting to form.
237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should I move my funds off of Bitfinex since I'm from the US? on: October 15, 2017, 01:39:40 AM
Holy cow! It is a good thing I read this. Otherwise I'd probably just randomly log into Bitfinex and be unable to access my funds. Thanks for the clarification. I'm lucky to have found this.

I'm guessing the reason for this is that bitfinex is anonymous meaning a lot of US residents would probably be able to cheat on their taxes if they wanted to. Other exchanges, where the government is looming over their shoulder for all the financial information, won't allow this to happen.

It is a damn shame. I love the Bitfinex platform. So intuitive and easy to use.
238  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I've just been hacked!! :-( on: October 15, 2017, 01:27:57 AM
Others have said that your computer has been compromised which may be accurate. However, you should also mention how you generated your private key. There are some dangers when generating a private key. If you use a malicious website or use some sort of passphrase that encrypts poorly this could be another problem.

For those telling OP to move on, he should not until he knows what things he did that caused this theft. If he doesn't know what the cause was he could be prone to having the same thing happen again.
239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Should I move my funds off of Bitfinex since I'm from the US? on: October 14, 2017, 09:57:17 PM
So I stumbled across this page on the internet:
https://www.bitfinex.com/posts/216/review

I'm in the US and have some coins on there. If I read this correctly it is saying that US customers will no longer be allowed as of November 11. Am I reading this correctly or does this only apply to US dollar transfers? I would hate to have some of my coins there and have my accounts locked since I reside in the US.
240  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I've just been hacked!! :-( on: October 14, 2017, 11:31:36 AM
It seems like that money is gone, sorry dude. There is no way to reverse a bitcoin transaction. Once it is spent, it is spent.

Try and retrace your steps. Have you ever used your private key before putting them on blockchain.info? Also, consider how you generated your private and public key. Was it a legitimate source?

If you are able to trace where your money is and who stole it, you could find a way to take legal action or trap them into giving your money back. This is pretty unlikely though.
