Should I move my funds off of Bitfinex since I'm from the US?

So I stumbled across this page on the internet:

I'm in the US and have some coins on there. If I read this correctly it is saying that US customers will no longer be allowed as of November 11. Am I reading this correctly or does this only apply to US dollar transfers? I would hate to have some of my coins there and have my accounts locked since I reside in the US.

Yep, seems like folks from the US will be left out. However you should move your funds off there or any other exchange ASAP regardless of this or any other situation.

If I was you, consider moving them to Bittrex. I have heard amazing things about them. Their support is next-to-none and I have never once heard of them getting hacked or any complaints in general. They have a clean record and show no signs of failing any time soon (although we should never take this for granted as it can happen at any time). Finally, they also give 1:1 airdrops for Bitcoin holders, for example Bitcoin Cash was distributed among Bittrex BTC holders at a 1:1 ratio.

Holy cow! It is a good thing I read this. Otherwise I'd probably just randomly log into Bitfinex and be unable to access my funds. Thanks for the clarification. I'm lucky to have found this.

I'm guessing the reason for this is that bitfinex is anonymous meaning a lot of US residents would probably be able to cheat on their taxes if they wanted to. Other exchanges, where the government is looming over their shoulder for all the financial information, won't allow this to happen.

It is a damn shame. I love the Bitfinex platform. So intuitive and easy to use.
