Certainly from a mining perspective it may have its current set of challenges, as time goes on however and mining equipment and network bandwidth improves, this may become less of an issue. From a transactional perspective, its great to see the coin complete all of its confirmations in less then a minute. For some, the current orphaning issue is a small price to pay with the added benefit of increased transaction times.

Hi Photon939, Thank you for your reply, You have raised a valid point, not just for Fastcoin but for Bitcoin in general. I have heard and read some discussion on this subject, some interesting solutions to this problem have been discussed here... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=150306.0Here... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=146085.0and here... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=215936.0I don't think anyone knows for sure what the ultimate solution will be at this point for FastCoin or Bitcoin for that matter, however it looks like the Crypto community is proactive and are discussing possible solutions to this problem. What I can tell you for the time being is that yes from a miner's perspective you need to configure you equipment optimally to reduce the problem of stales namely how to setup CGminer script etc. Also you probably want to make sure you have fast enough equipment to handle the difficulty as it rises for this coin over time, again this should be no different from any other Crypto currency. It will be interesting to see how this coin and all of the Alt Coin's develop over time as these issues as well as a number of other issues not discussed in this thread present themselves. At present time however it has been my experience that FastCoin has been a great coin to work with and I have mined and worked with quite a few. Hey Guys, Just an update on my progress, I have some updates * New version is compiled with MiniUPNP is now working * New version is compiled with DB5.1 this will fix any of the previous DB Errors, meaning user don't have to clean up the %appdata%/Fastcoin folder * New version is compiled now with QRCode support (So this will give you a hint on what I am porting next ) * Windows Version now has installer/uninstaller * I have the Ubuntu32/64 Versions/OS X version ready with all the features above. I see no reason why this coin cannot be worth $1 USD within the next twelve months or so. Mind you before the USD completely collapse of course ;-). But on a relative basis to BitCoin, I see no reason why it cannot have at least a 1:100 ratio with Bitcoin, provided Bitcoin maintains an @$100 price range or higher. 2 Key time frame's to watch will be 1.) Sept/October of this year when all hell may brake loose in the financial markets and 2.) May 2014 when the block reward for Fastcoin is cut in half. Investors may be seeking out alternative investments, Crypto currencies are positioned well with the recent rise of Bitcoin this year, but I think Alternatives like FastCoin have an opportunity to really shine as its Fast Transactional times will be a key selling point due to Bitcoin's and Litecoin's relative slower transactional delivery. To date no other Crypto comes close to achieving these speeds, near instantaneous initial transactions with first confirmation within 12 sec's and final 4th confirmation in 48secs! It has been noted that it is a bit of an issue for the miners in that the cost to the advantage of superior transactional times results in the production of some stales, but I think with mining hardware, network bandwidth improvements and properly configured equipment this will be less of an issue moving forward. The stupid-fast block times result in very large numbers of orphan blocks. Imagine spending a ton of time mining, finding a block only to have it become invalid a minute later. This happens very frequently with fastcoin. One of the many derpcoins-of-the-week with only one or two changes from bitcoin/litecoin.
