Thanks MikeCryptoIndustries,

We do too, we feel this scene in particular, capture the essence of FastCoin, a great coin to mine and potentially a wild and fun ride!

Yup,

Fastest on the market, no political agenda, no central backing of any kind, FastCoin is just what it is, an open source faster version of BitCoin and or LiteCoin.

Cannot be instamined, so all miners in the first 12 months have a relatively equal opportunity to earn rewards before they are cut in half, approximately 9 months from now.

The stupid-fast block times result in very large numbers of orphan blocks. Imagine spending a ton of time mining, finding a block only to have it become invalid a minute later. This happens very frequently with fastcoin.

One of the many derpcoins-of-the-week with only one or two changes from bitcoin/litecoin. (not that litecoin really deserves its own distinction, it only holds two changes from bitcoin)

Thanks for the post Photon939,

Certainly from a mining perspective it may have its current set of challenges, as time goes on however and mining equipment and network bandwidth improves, this may become less of an issue.  From a transactional perspective, its great to see the coin complete all of its confirmations in less then a minute.  For some, the current orphaning issue is a small price to pay with the added benefit of increased transaction times.

How will Fastcoin deal with the blockchain bloat problem that currently faces bitcoin along with the fact that such fast block times means substantially more blockchain bloat to begin with?

Hi Photon939,

Thank you for your reply,

You have raised a valid point, not just for Fastcoin but for Bitcoin in general.  I have heard and read some discussion on this subject, some interesting solutions to this problem have been discussed here...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=150306.0

Here...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=146085.0

and here...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=215936.0

I don't think anyone knows for sure what the ultimate solution will be at this point for FastCoin or Bitcoin for that matter, however it looks like the Crypto community is proactive and are discussing possible solutions to this problem.

What I can tell you for the time being is that yes from a miner's perspective you need to configure you equipment optimally to reduce the problem of stales namely how to setup CGminer script etc.  Also you probably want to make sure you have fast enough equipment to handle the difficulty as it rises for this coin over time, again this should be no different from any other Crypto currency.

It will be interesting to see how this coin and all of the Alt Coin's develop over time as these issues as well as a number of other issues not discussed in this thread present themselves.  At present time however it has been my experience that FastCoin has been a great coin to work with and I have mined and worked with quite a few.  Not sure what the future holds, but my hope is that the Crypto community will come up with a solution.

Sincerely

/C
