221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Digital Moon Coins - Concept on: October 01, 2013, 08:31:33 AM
I'd mine it if someone made it haha
Me too!  Smiley The block reward cycle is the first of a kind that I know of and could make for some interesting trading.

To start off, this coin will need a developer. In all honesty, I'm broke, but that's OK because I prefer the developer be paid in the value of their product instead of an up-front cost. This means the community may need to agree to some sort of Digital Moon Coin compensation for their magic but I ask this amount is not too much which could create an unhealthy market. I'd also propose the dual launch be scrapped and just go with single moon-aligned release since 2 launches may be too much work. If any dev's are still interested, please give us your ask bids in DMC  Cheesy

To get developer's interested in this project, we need to let them know that we want mine and trade this coin. If you would mine and/or trade this coin, please reply to thread and explain why. If enough interest can be garnered, the concept could change to a project and eventually a moon-aligned release date.

Also, since this may turn into somewhat of an open source collaboration of an open source alt-coin, pool operators and exchanges just might keep their eye on how the project is going and plan according to market interests. Personally, I believe the sooner any coin can be traded, the healthier the market will become.

My 0.02 DMC:

1. I would definitely mine this coin. The reward system gives an additional interesting factor to mining. It is a much better way to implement variable rewards than superblocks (superblocks allow easy hopping). However, it is still vulnerable to multipools, in a different way - if people profit-hopped, difficulty would bottom out just after the block reward bottoms out, and that's when the hoppers would come back on again in force (medium reward, very low diff).

2. I think pools could come first, and then build up a community. Most important is to find worldly usage of the coin (see SXC). Exchanges can come later.

The situation before the last diff spike is happening again... we're back to 35794.675 diff. 2016 blocks in less than a day - crazy!

Interesting indeed. How do people see Nak balance, and his incoming deposit ?

His old address: http://blockchain.info/address/17ziML8b3hZEKpYeJu3UeSx8TTBDKTDHoU
His new address: http://blockchain.info/address/17tZydgfQ6zvoAEtY6ebcaRk3Hsi2mVDUS

Currently all his money is on JD, so we can't see anything much.

What a pity...  Angry   Cry

Code:
[2013-10-01 11:04:25] Found block for pool 0!
[2013-10-01 11:04:56] Stratum connection to pool 0 interrupted
[2013-10-01 11:04:56] Lost 2 shares due to stratum disconnect on pool 0

Anyone have any info on how to setup the ybcminer for GPU use?  I usually use a GUI miner with all the parameters as options.  Not really sure what I need in my bat for this one.

Thanks everyone

I have been using this scrypt-jane miner at http://rghost.ru/48162507

After the download I renamed the .exe to GPLminer  then I put the scrypt-jane folder in easy to find place so when using your cmd prompt you navigate to it easy. Once you are in your cmd prompt, navigate to the folder the GPLminer.exe file is in. Then start it up with this cmd line to mine on the pool. (copy and paste if you need to)

GPLminer --scrypt -o gplcoin.com:8888 -u yourworker -p yourpassword --Nfmin 4 --Nfmax 30 --StartT 1377557832 -I 17

To mine solo use this: Make sure you have the GPL wallet software running and sync for this.

GPLminer --scrypt -o localhost:8344 -u yourworker -p yourpassword --Nfmin 4 --Nfmax 30 --StartT 1377557832 -I 17

Edit: There is also a Win64 CPUminer thanks to ig0tik3d Wink found below this post vvvv
cpu miner for gpl (win64) (if not wrong nChainStartTime = 1377557832  Grin)
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B9cvOfoOekSdSnUtSmltRVQ2WFk/edit?usp=sharing
example start:
Code:
minerd -a scrypt-jane -o stratum+tcp://gplcoin.com:8888 -u workername -p workerpass

p.s. for gpu miner --Nfmin 4 --Nfmax 30 --StartT 1377557832 (if in source code is right this parameter )
225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Setting up a mining pool on: September 29, 2013, 08:11:59 AM
Hmm... I had considered a dedicated server, however the prices were rather... out of my price range, so to speak. So VPS or Website hosting were my remaining choices. (Reseller hosting seems to not be for self-hosting purposes)

What is the difference between website hosting and VPS hosting that justifies their large price difference?
226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Setting up a mining pool on: September 29, 2013, 06:39:39 AM
I am interested in setting up a mining pool for several coins, and am looking into different hosting packages.

Usually, do mining pools use Website Hosting or VPS hosting?

That was probably it. What was the other account user name? I unbanned the user name you have here so you should be GTG there.

I created an account called "metatata" :x

Thanks for unbanning me (and for the MinCoin giveaway). Long live MinCoin!

Looks like your account has been banned. I'm looking into it. Did you sign up previously under another user name?

I don't believe so (or if I have, I don't recall). I did, however, attempt to create another account after creating meta-p02 just to check whether it was Live Mail stealth-deleting the mail the site sent. (It didn't work.)

Whatever I do, I get the message "Sorry, you don't have permission for that! - You are not allowed to visit this community (#1001)" - even when I try to log out or read the privacy policy! Is it an issue with verification?

Maybe you need to verify your email first?

...well... I haven't gotten the email even after 20 minutes of waiting, so I thought maybe I had entered the wrong address. I still haven't gotten it.

Check your spam folder?  (just trying to cover bases)

My spam folder has 2, all not from mincoinforums. The newest in my inbox is from Bitcoin Forum (this site).

I'm using Live Mail, if that helps.

Anyway, the Bytecoin network is so weak that you only need ~40GH/s to 51% attack it. Why anyone would ever bother to 51% attack Bytecoin escapes me, though.

Exactly. It's very worthlessness protects it from attack.

It's similar to the way MarkM described GRouPCoin - the value of the blockchain was so pathetically low that it would have been extremely unprofitable to attack it (it would be better to merge-mine it forever). However, we most probably (I hope) won't see merged mining for ByteCoin anytime soon.

No buy depth on Cryptsy. 956 BTE (good for 19 more blocks) on .00019 and then it's a straight drop to .0001225. In fact, I think it's just a temporary pump. I could just spend a dollar and push it back to .0001225.

My hardware:
CPU Intel i5 quad core @2.27 Ghz
RAM 4GB DDR3
GPU Nvidia Geforce GT320M 1GB shared memory

Umm... I hope you know what you're doing.

My 630M gets 28KH/s on a good day, with my CPU getting 16KH/s consistently . Your 320M would probably underperform your CPU.

But yeah... whatever floats your boat. Use cudaminer and pooler-cpuminer.
235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is this a good time to buy bytecoin on: September 28, 2013, 02:14:48 AM
I think ByteCoin would become just another SHA-256 altcoin like Terracoin. Its main purpose is to be an exact Bitcoin clone, however as a minor coin it cannot survive like that. Reason: huge difficulty drop, then flash mining, then up again
236  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone coding altcoins? on: September 28, 2013, 02:09:40 AM
user:Hazard used to have a service like this, but I think he's not accepting any more.

If you just want to change parameters, you could always do it yourself (hint: GetBlockValue and ComputeMinWork and GetNextWorkRequired). If you want to implement new features... I dunno. PM me? Or work with some more experienced coin creators?
237  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Understanding POS on: September 25, 2013, 12:35:14 AM
i'd like to know

1) how to change what percentage POS uses from my balance.
2) does it generate based on chain start time or based on the length of time i've held the coins.
3) Is POS CPU only or does GPU push the process along
4)why does stake percentage vary? i had two wallets with similar amounts but they gained different stake
5) say stake generates @ 2 months, do i need to keep my client running, or only start it when i'm close to two months?

(1) reservebalance in the coin.conf file.
(2) Length of time. Difficulty and reward of generating a stake block is based on the coin-age (size*age) of a transaction.
(3) Currently CPU only. There are no benefits to pushing it to a GPU, because of the small amount of hashes that can possibly be tested.
(4) Like mining, stake generation is a luck-based process. So stake can vary between wallets. Also if tx-outs are too small their stake can be truncated.
(5) If you are purely using it for stake generation, start the client at the 2-month mark.
238  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NEW POOL CLR (CopperLark) on: September 23, 2013, 06:49:31 AM
What is the hash algorithm currently used in CopperLark? Is it SHA3(), SHA3(SHA3()), SHA3(SHA256(SHA3())) or something else altogether involving SHA-3?
239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [XJO] Joulecoin | SHA256 coin | NEW COIN | RELEASED on: September 22, 2013, 11:17:18 AM
feeleep: Cannot set up workers on your pool. It just boots me back to the homepage and makes me logged out. I'm using Chrome 29.0.1547.76 on Win8.

P.S. What domain registar and hosting provider do you use that allows you to set up so many pools?

How long is the stake maturity time for KED? I've generated 7 stake blocks for UFC but none for KED...
