I have 12 LTC stuck there.
To my surprise, I was able to withdraw my 0.012 BTC today!
Any idea what could I do?

We should join this guy
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=528752.msg26346065#msg26346065

Once he finds the actual identity of the culprit, we may go there together personally and "gently ask" him our money back.
222  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Electroneum wallet: where is your private key?? on: December 14, 2017, 05:24:12 PM
AFAIK the only ETN wallet is the mobile one (*) .
I wonder where does it keep your private key, is it on the Electroneum site servers ?

I guess your key is on ETN servers because you must login to the app with your ETN site credentials.
But this implies your key is not in your hands.

Even if we assume the private key is only stored on your phone, it is still not secure, as it is not password-encrypted.

The ideal would be if they release a Windows/Linux wallet as well so that we have the option to keep our keys on a Veracrypt volume.
Are they planning to release it?

If not, is there a secure way to hold big amounts of ETN?
When dealing with big amounts we must pay attention to how the private keys are handled.

--------
(*)  besides the "paper" wallet which is secure but has the drawback that doesn't let you spend a part of your coins, but only import the whole wallet elsewhere.

@bstapp... if you really have 250LTC there i guess you are motivated to start an investigation to find them.

You are doing nothing and that sounds strange
224  Economy / Exchanges / Re: How many BTC do you have frozen in [Vircurex]? Have they been unfrozen yet? on: December 11, 2017, 03:05:12 AM
I have over 2000 litecoins in there!!!  never seen a cent back !!!    please anyone!! help !!

OMG you should try to find them.

I have 4.04 LTC frozen there

We can ask an investigation company. What do you suggest?
225  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin not arrived at vircurex. on: December 11, 2017, 02:59:03 AM
Vircurex has frozen my account for over 3 years. I had over 250 LTC.  I've emailed them numerous times with no response.
AVOID USING THEM!!
If anyone has had a similar issue or has a contact there, please let me know.

Hello,
I've bought 50$ worth of bitcoin one week ago and send it to my wallet in vircurex. How ever, they did not arrive yet.
The blockchain is this one:

https://blockchain.info/nl/address/1AL3FaLuczmPzMfEQgwqLow9LK8e82ZBWY

So my wallet address is: 1AL3FaLuczmPzMfEQgwqLow9LK8e82ZBWY

Where did it went wrong? Or does vircurex still has to sync my wallet?

Hopefully someone can help me?

Kind regards,

Koen van Kuijk

250 LTC?? Wow

I still have 4.04 LTC frozen there since the 2013

Hello,
today my wallet  showed me that could not load block index and asked if i wanted to rebuild it, but then crashed and does not launch anymore.

229  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: November 27, 2017, 08:45:59 AM
Unlike you, i think you should focus more on end-users and not large companies , because the latter ones need to give responsibility to someone if technical failures happen.
They want to know who to blame if their stock price drops due to storage failures.

If they use Siacoin they can't blame anyone, and i guess they are willing to pay extra money to be protected or refunded when disasters happen.

-----------

Another aspect: hotlinking

Gdrive, dropbox etc. all offer hotlinking built-in, but with Sia such an extra feature becomes costly in terms of bandwith, because you should set up a single node who accepts HTTP requests and downloads the requested file from Sia under the hood and sends it back to the user.
But that means that all traffic is going through that single server, so the required bandwidth would be the same as if the server had the requested file on its local drive, .. no actually more that that, because the server needs to download the file from Sia as well, so that's extra bandwidth consumption.

How can you address this?
Well this hotlinking issue it's not a crucial aspect given that the price per TB is very cheap on Sia , but it's still a missing feature compared to traditional services

EDIT: i noticed that Sia can be integrated with Minio, which is like a layer on top of Sia to provide hotlinking right?
But i guess it doesn't address the extra bandwith issue i was talking about

Thanks
231  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / [Bitcoin Core] Show TX inputs/outputs on debug console on: November 23, 2017, 06:41:14 AM

How can i get, from the RPC console, a list of transactions sent from my wallet that have multiple inputs/outputs?
I.E. if i use "sendmany" to pay many people at once, how can i list that transaction on the console afterwards?

I have checked out the "listtransactions" RPC call , but the response only tells you a single address, which is either the sender or receiver.
I wonder how does "listtransactions" deal with transactions with multiple inputs/outputs then... i guess it doesn't list them

Their admins were using TOR for communicating with the world, and i suppose their coin wallets were linked to TOR as well.
So HOW in the hell did they get identified?

Unless there are secret TOR vulnerabilities that only the NSA knows about...

Maybe NSA can already crack most encryption algos like AES, Twofish, etc. , and the gov is using more advanced encryption for themselves which we don't know about.

P.S. I am not into drug/weapon trafficking.
I am just curious of knowing how can they always manage to know everything and find anyone, and even crack encrypted communication via TOR.
So even free speech or investigative journalism is impossible nowadays if totally private communication doesn't even exist.
234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to Safely Claim Bitcoin Gold on: November 16, 2017, 11:47:22 AM
Didn't you hear?  B2X was cancelled.

But canceled for now, not permanently.

Anyway that's not important, we were talking about replay protection for BTG.

I wanted to ask if you need special tricks for it to work , or you can just send the coins like they are separate blockchains? ( not affecting each other )
235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to Safely Claim Bitcoin Gold on: November 16, 2017, 01:19:06 AM
Is there a safe guide out there on how to claim Bitcoin Gold now that the replay protection was put in place?

If anyone can share the guide, please do and you will be greatly appreciated.

Does the replay protection require that you send a minimum amount to a known "special" address? (the B2X replay protection also will require this kind of trick: B2X Opt-in Replay Protection https://bitcointechtalk.com/how-segwit2x-replay-protection-works-1a5e41767103 )

Or is it a "built-in" protection, i.e. like with Bitcoin Cash, you just send your coins without worrying because the blockchain is not linked to BTC
236  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Claiming Bitcoin Gold on Electrum on: November 16, 2017, 01:00:27 AM
So we don't even know if it has replay protection ( like BCC/BCH has ) ??
And we don't even know who's the dev ?

Wow, we're in business ...
I wonder how its value went so up if it is so shady

If it hasn't replay protection, i may buy some BTG with FIAT , withdraw, and i win the same amount in BTC.
Would be great Cheesy
237  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: November 14, 2017, 03:33:21 AM
For now i am only skeptical about one aspect: storage price per Terabyte may be lower  than GDrive/Onedrive/etc. by 90% , ... but what about bandwidth price?
I have  briefly read that a Sia renter must pay bandwith as well, while S3,GDrive etc. don't make you pay for it , right ?

Or do they have "practical" limits they don't declare but are actual.
I.E. They promise you unlimited traffic but in practice if you overcome a certain limit like 1TB/month then they will cap your transfer speed to 50Kbps for example.
We should define these variables to make a proper comparison

Oh, no... Amazon S3 indeed charges for downloading data: depending on the mirror, between $10-$20/Tb https://aws.amazon.com/s3/pricing/ Compare this with what Sia costs: 13 cents per TB for uploads and 10 cents per TB for downloads: https://aws.amazon.com/s3/pricing/ This is 100x less currently

Final costumer products might have apparently "free download" but in the end as you say there are caps. Enterprise clients don't have access to free plans and pay outrageous bandwidth costs on any traditional storage solution

You're right.
For example Google puts limits without stating it anywhere.
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/20897335/google-drive-hosting-downloading-limit

Dropbox Pro/Business limit: 200GB/day

Onedrive: don't know

Does the project cooperated with some well known enterprises? the storage market is a hot market, but there are already many big whales in it, so what is the market plan?

The plan is to Undercut the whales prices by 90%

Would be great.

Hey guys, pls tell, does this kind of project have competitors?

I think StorJ is one, but AFAIK it does not support cryptocurrency payments but only FIAT (USD),
so it's not suitable for anonymous file storage.

Filecoin wanted to be a competitor, but i don't trust it as it has no public code repository so it's like saying it's not open source.

240  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BCC still alive on: November 06, 2017, 03:05:53 PM
Wow, it's awful how many people mistake BCH and BCC. This was a REALLY bad move by Bitcoin Cash... I am shocked TBH.
Almost as shocked as by the fact, that people still defend BCC! Angry

But Bittrex and Yobit and other exchanges do that as well!

They call Bitcoin Cash BCC
