Im thinking they should have made some changes on that 49 port hub.

1) There should be delays when the sub hubs sync or they should have daisy chained like the Anker to cause the delay as part of the design.

2) Each 7 port sub-hub should have been switched and fused. Or at the very minimum the main fuse changed to a cartridge fuse as that bears up to heat better than the one they are using. This would allow you to switch off a bank and or switch on banks of ports (sub-hub) instead of unplugging miners then replugging 1 at a time with stubborn os's like windows.

Funny you should ask, I actually have an IR thermometer coming in today or Monday. I'll let you know soon after.

You will have loads of fun with that!!!  Never will so many things have their temp checked around
the house hold.  Grin
226  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN IN-STOCK] batch #32/31 0.65 btc per Blade 49-port HUBS on: November 16, 2013, 08:26:35 PM
on 49 port hub I notice it is laid out:

main usb chip (star)
+sub usb
   +7 ports
+sub usb
   +7 ports
+sub usb
   +7 ports
+sub usb
   +7 ports
+sub usb
   +7 ports
+sub usb
   +7 ports
+sub usb
   +7 ports

Anker is laid out

hub (daisy chained)
 + 3 ports
 +hub
    + 3 ports
    +hub
      + 3 ports

What this means (shrug). Just noticed the difference.

== added

I suspect anker did their layout to allow a pause for each hub to sync before the next one.

With the 49 port laid out the way it is, all 7 sub hubs try to sync at once and cause timing issues.

(Note I am not a chip design/board layout artist nor do I play one on tv)

Make sure that that 38A rating on 5V rail is actually delivering... Several folks (philma and bitterdog from the top of my head, please correct me if I'm wrong) have tested a few PSUs that claim high amperage but fail to deliver.  That's the first thing to rule out...

That was the first thing I suspected. But I reduced down to just two rows of 7 (14) and had same issues. Waiting for my good fluke I loaned out to be returned to monitor voltage and also ordered a usb current/volt monitor.

The other thing is the normally solid anker when plugged into same computer as 49 port hub developed same issue's.

When I first started mining with just 6 miners I had ordered cheap usb hub. had all kinds of problems. bought the highly suggested anker and all problems went away.
228  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN IN-STOCK] batch #32/31 0.65 btc per Blade 49-port HUBS on: November 16, 2013, 07:57:42 PM

What kind of problems?

Client being used is bitminter. Have to scan ports multiple times to get most recognized. Can never get all to run. Even when dropped miners down to 30 on 49 port hub. Some will not mine unless moved around etc.

I also can not run an anker hub plugged into same computer as 49 port hub as same issues will affect the anker where some will just not be recognized and or fail during mining.

moved anker to another computer. it works perfectly. move 49 hub to that computer issues again.

also having some miners with issues which I am trying to sort out by rotating them through anker on other computer to find the dead or fringe ones.

I suspect it is the way the hubs are cascaded on the 49 port hub. on OSX I can see the hierarchy of how they are recognized. I also suspect noise issues on the 49 port hub.

All of my equipment gets clean power from online UPS/AVR

I have been in touch with the seller and he will make good as needed. The techie in me just wants to sort out the issue's so I know as close to 100% what is causing it. Just not enough free time.

I am also having issues with a 49 port hub on Mac OS X. Both 10.7 and 10.9 on two different computers.

I am waiting on another PS to make sure it is not causing problems. I doubt it though as it was bought new (5v 38amp) and I do have two fans running  on the 12v rails.

Have swapped out usb cables and moving miners around from 49hub to regular anker hub to narrow down problems.

Disappointing!!

Its .05 less than buying 3 blades.

Ok my math was wrong or I just anticipated the next price drop on blades !!

its .20 less than 3 blades.

Would still rather have 3 blades than that portable toaster / heat gun.

Disappointing!!

Its .05 less than buying 3 blades. Uses the same power (same chip so under operation should draw same power).

1 btc would be great price. At 1.75 I would rather buy 3 blades. All your eggs aren't in the same basket.

You could probably roast marshmallows out of the heat that will be rolling out of it at the power density. Which will most likely shorten
its life.

Yes, hot chips today is better than the promise of cooler/faster/more efficient ones in the future !!

Da#@ scammers.

They need caught, branded with a "S" on their forehead and then infected with that virus from a scifi short story that made them
have shock/fear aversion to use technology of any kind!!!

yep thats the PS550E12BK, or the PS550E12 black, its the same just black:

amazon
newegg

I also use the PS550E12 (not black) and it works wonderfully, the only modification I've had to make is when plugging it in the plastic clip for the 24 pin connector got in the way so I bent it up pretty far.

Yep, I tried flexing the board up to get it in and finally just clipped the retaining clip off. Its very quiet and barely gets warm.

Im having issues with some miners not firing up, but Im not sure if its bad ports or something weird with the way its hub chained. I added the 49 block to its own port
on a mac mini (10.7). The mini already had a anker hub with 9 miners that was working fine. And now even some of them are not firing so it must be something
goofy. Have not had the time to trouble shoot it completely. Just got as many going as I could for now. Plan to narrow it down this weekend.

edit

bitminter 1.4.2 is the client. Tried cgminer (with the kernel extension removed for the miners) and it would only ever see 7 no matter how I rearranged them. Even with only the anker plugged in it would see only 4 on it.

Gotta love it!!

is asicminer about to discontinue the blades also?

I too would like the answer to this question.

Thanks,

I ordered this after some research and it appears to be working with all 49 ports.

In regards to scam posts:

I think if we had public execution for scammers and dirty stealing break in artist the problem would begin to fade.

Or even interactive tomato/egg air guns where the scammers are in stockades and you would pay to "egg" or "tomato" them in real time. The proceeds would fund "hit squads" that would track down the worst offenders much like bounties cleaned up the outlaws in the old west.

maleware people would be next followed by fake review writers then finally we get down to double-parkers and left lane riders (In UK that would be right lane riders) !!

The 419's could be left alone for entertainment value.

That could even be a new reality show for "People dumb enough to fall for 419 scam"

Except it keeps throwing errors such as "Your IP has posted less than 6 mins ago" when I have not posted at all today.

I also have to try multiple times to login. I have now noticed that if the time to stay logged in is a large unchangeable number
the login attempt will fail. If it shows the default of 60 im good to go.

No other boards have given me these issues.

Newbies should be made to take a survey type test to walk them through the proper manners to maintain while posting. This would be a better method than requiring a random post with substance determined by the length (verbosity max). After all one never knows just how much typing the general algorithm is looking for. Is it 50 words, 100 ...

Hopefully this is enough to appease the text gods and bless this simple noob.

Thanks for reading,
