221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTC] Vertcoin - Adaptive N-factor in Scrypt - No more ASICs on: February 11, 2014, 04:45:25 AM
This is a very early thought/concept: is it possible to setup "exchanges" connected to every Vtc pool? So, the pool will have a bunch of Vtcs sitting in reserves that everyone can see (avoiding mt gox transparency problems).

Miners can elect the percentage they wish to keep and the percentage they wish to make available on the exchange and what crypto they are willing to accept. The percentage made available would be sold by the pool and then paid to the miner in the crypto of their choice.

Over time, miners can also add bank details to accept dollars via the pool/exchange mechanism, to sell Vtc for fiat.

Just an idea. Feel free to point out obvious problems with this setup.  Smiley

That is a VERY good idea. I like it a lot. But how could we make it secure?

This is something that needs to be coded right away. In light of the Mt Gox scandal, we can de-centralize exchanges and re-establish the public's trust.

Bitcoin holders would trade their BTC for VTC in droves. (That will be good for 3 weeks until a new decentralized exchange comes out for the new kid on the block.. no fun intended)

I think Vertcoin should be all about safety and security (in Maslow's chart). Although I have not done a scientific poll, my talks with people as to why they would not use Bitcoin has everything to do with security of their money.

Apologies if I'm pointing out something obvious:  One of the key strengths of Vertcoin compared to Btc, Ltc and Doge, in my view, is the decentralised pools in Vtc.  It would be good to use this natural competitive advantage to decentralise exchanges somehow.  It would really cement Vtc's position as a coin for ordinary people, where people trade with people and not big businesses (like ASIC companies and big exchanges).

As a bitcoin and litecoin investor, I like Vtc because it promises to be truly ASIC resistant. I can see regulations coming that might crush bitcoin. Of course Btc will likely fork to ASIC resistance too if that ever happened.

So Vtc's strength comes from decentralisation in my view. Vtc decentralises mining. For example just look at the pools that have been setup with people helping each other. It's so different to bitcoin and litecoin.

Here is another area where regulators will attack bitcoin: the exchanges. If Vtc can help people setup very micro exchanges for Vtc to other cryptos, similar to what you guys did with pools, Vtc will see no limits.

Vertcoin will truly be by the people and for the people.

CBTC is profitable, growing, responsive, transparent and about to finalise acquisition.  Did I miss anything?

If BA wants to play like grown-ups and have an NDA in effect, then they should've raised the capital themselves to begin with instead of de facto crowdfunding.

NDA of any kind with a project like this is completely unacceptable.

Yet is required by Verisilicon, regardless of funding type.
Then post the NDA. let's all look at it. Please stop posting about fucking cases, nobody gives a shit. We only care that we are losing money. Also, we have no idea you haven't taken over dz coop and basically perpetuated mass fraud on trusting members of the coop. MATT CARSON, remember that fucking name. If you don't go down with this, I will always stay well clear from you, now and in the future.

Surely the NDA does not prevent disclosure of who owns BA?!? So ridiculous it's not funny.

As minersource now operates the dz coop website and is running the largest GB (r17), the failure of this GB to obtain info, keep track of BA's progress, lack of disclosure after delay, failure to negotiate a refund and inability to disclose the people behind BA will earn DZ coop a scam rating from me. Especially, MATT CARSON.
231  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Closed]R17x: Black Arrow Prospero X-3 <DZMC Exclusive> $130 / 40GHS on: February 07, 2014, 04:49:10 PM
I'm sorry if this sounds harsh bobsag3, but it is crystal clear to me that in running a BA resellership that took the GB orders you have severly compromised your ability to act in the interest of the coop and this GB in particular. You may be well intentioned but are too conflicted, and certainly none of what you have come back with is of any compensation to the people of this GB, other than confirming that BA have failed miserably to deliver and not even had the decency to offer us a deal.

I think it's time the members of the GB elected someone to speak on our behalf, and hold you and BA accountable.

Agree 110% with howardb

I've not heard anything officially on refunds yet. In all honesty, I'd wait on asking for a refund till we figure out our best possible compensation package. I'm going to keep pressing that issue with my higher ups.
They didn't even tell you they missed the tapeout deadline. What kind of compensation package can you get? We are about to lose a significant amount of bitcoins no matter what happens next. Unless the chip manufacturing is reversed, this thing is fubar. It will not be competitive versus AM's chips and probably KnC's as well. On top of that it will be TWO MONTHS late.
233  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Closed]R17x: Black Arrow Prospero X-3 <DZMC Exclusive> $130 / 40GHS on: February 07, 2014, 09:16:39 AM
DZ and thomas_s are not part of the NDA. Seeing as the entire coop is about to lose a very significant amount of BTCs, it's time you both told us who runs BlackArrow. Those people need to be held to account.

Matt, I don't know how you are related to BA but you better start posting pictures and a copy of that invoice to verisilicon.
234  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Closed]R17x: Black Arrow Prospero X-3 <DZMC Exclusive> $130 / 40GHS on: February 07, 2014, 06:53:29 AM
To say I am Not Happy with this COOP would be the largest understatement I think I have ever made. (Bites lip).

BUYER BEWARE.
Given that bobsag3 did not keep on top of this despite repeated requests for tapeout info in early Jan from myself and others, I would agree with above comment.  This disaster could've been averted.  To then continuing selling batch 2 without tapeout confirm was just plain wrong.

BA has not levelled with us right from the start.  By early Jan, they would've already known the delivery target of Feb 24 was unachievable.  I no longer have trust in BA or bobsag3 in the way they have conducted themselves.  Very piss poor.

BA has not levelled with us.  They have put an NDA against their own customers.  Whether they paid verisilicon is pointless.  The chips will be late and non-competitive.  I have lost trust in BA.  They knew batch 1 would be late and continued to sell batch 2.  Very poor conduct.
236  Economy / Speculation / Re: SecondMarket Bitcoin Investment Trust Observer on: February 06, 2014, 11:49:29 PM
It wasnt a Typo!!

They must have purchased all of those coins off the exchanges then.  The price went down yesterday in spite of that huge of a purchase.
Huge is relative to 3600 coins mined per day.  Smiley
237  Economy / Speculation / Re: Its been $800 for a reeeeeallly long time..... on: February 06, 2014, 09:26:02 AM
Reason for drop in your view traderCJ?

Background psychology: MtGox continues to flounder, worldwide regulatory uncertainty, mining centralization concerns, GOOD NEWS doesn't budge the price much anymore, however price has been stable @ $800
Foreground psychology: Bitfinex was either hacked or is glitching, Apple openly hostile to a yet another Bitcoin app, CampBX likely to implode, will the price drop tomorrow as the Bitfinex issues are more widely publicized?

Outcome: Best case, stabilized in the high $700s.

Thanks.

Thread looks quite clean if you ignore PG, Ole and Jimmothy. I decided a few pages back they weren't adding anything of value.
240  Economy / Speculation / Re: SEEMS LIKE LARGE BTC HOLDERS TRYING TO KEEP PRICE AROUND $800 on: February 06, 2014, 08:43:39 AM
Current fluctuations are no big deal IMHO, I think in one year everything will sort itself out.  The only thing I'd say is get some Ltc just in case Gavin wants to play robocop.
