221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NEM] Refund request, change account request, and other complaint thread on: May 18, 2014, 03:15:23 AM
Everyone who wants to be refunded seem to have <10 posts?

Wondered about that too. And I think the refunds for some are like  .045-.06 btc? I don't get why anyone wouldn't just wait and if they want that mighty large amount back, just sell a bit off after it goes live.

Since many are wondering and probably thought "Why so many refund requests ? is Nem developers going to run off soon ?", I should explain that all refunds so far are "forced" refunds since the accounts did not make it to the final list.

Aaah. That makes sense. Thanks UF.

Looking forward to getting Node on the map.

I still fail to see your point or in fact the point of this thread.
Good night.

This thread reminds me of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satanic_ritual_abuse
Everybody it is time for a moral PANIC!
Get your pitchforks we have some witches and things to hunt because someone is saying some stuff and it is making me feel something... emotion! LOUD NOISES!

Would you believe you're the forth DogeCoin advocate that has come out against those on the other side of the fence you're on?

You have interesting methods and also fail to appreciate the sarcasm dripping from my first post.
I will repost it here so you can try again:
"To be honest it was the Doge that made me join Bitcoin forum.
I could not believe this is really happening and have conflicted feelings of joy clashing with disbelief. Dogecoin actually worth something?!
With a relatively easy way to be eventually traded into dogfood and frisbies!
That is awesome.
I got my doge his own account.
Now my cat is just feeling a little left out. Apparently sexcoin doesn't cut it as a substitute for her."

Anycase and regardless, I don't think we will get along. I just have something against witch hunts and propaganda in general. Nothing personal.

To be über-clear, thi$ i$ not a witch hunt. What'$ at $take i$ more than ju$t one guy'$ dick up $ome little boy'$ a$$. If $uch wa$n't the ca$e, then perhap$ Autumn Radtke wouldn't have committed $uicide(?).

re: Autumn Radtke
"Beauregard said he had several conversations with her in the 48 hours prior to her death about personal and professional issues. "Bitcoin and Mt. Gox were not part of those conversations," he said."

You seem to jump to some emotive conclusions and use some very emotive imagery. At the moment it is abuse of the worst kind, death and destruction. Armageddon next? I am not sure what your goal is.

Any troubleshooter available regarding folding on Nvidia?
On GTX 670 on one of my machines PPD of 3000 seems a bit low?

233  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [AИN] NXT Lite - Official discussion Page - Announces - Branding - Logo Design on: May 04, 2014, 05:09:42 AM
I put some more thoughts into the name. Isn't it a bit weird to name a coin after language? In this case Nxt would be Java and Bitcoin would be C++.

Java might've worked. Bitcoin is a reference to computer language "A bit is the basic unit of information in computing and digital communications."
So Node would actually be appropriate.
Anycase there are no rules, this is survival of the fittest for ideas. The one that most people like and seems to fit will win.
234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's adapt the term Bitcoin cent on: May 04, 2014, 02:54:35 AM
OP: Bitcent in your current form is not future proof. An example that I've used time and again:

Suppose that one BTC = $100,000, and Joe blow wants to order a $5 cheeseburger in BTC. Here's a few different scenarios:

A. "That'll be 0.00005 BTC please."
B. "That'll be 0.005 Bitcent please."
C. "That'll be 0.05 mBTC please."
D. "That'll be 50 uBTC please."
E. "That'll be 50 bits please."

A, B, and C are eliminated right off the bat because nobody wants to recall how many zeroes they've put after the decimal.

This leaves us with reasonable D and E, but the word "bit" is far more marketable than "micro-BTC". Micro-BTC just doesn't roll off the tongue like bits does.

Your bitcent, or one-hundreth of a bitcoin, will become obsolete rather quickly once bitcoin's valuation rises several magnitudes.

The current consensus is moving towards a bit as a standard bitcoin transaction sub-unit, and satoshi as cent by implication.

Logical.

236  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [AИN] NXT Lite - Official discussion Page - Announces - Branding - Logo Design on: May 02, 2014, 11:40:56 PM

Hi Koop! Personally I like just "Node" because anything with "coin" in it seems to give connotations of being a copy and paste clone. We can actually have the best of both worlds and call the platform "Node" and use just Node in the branding but call the tokens spent on the system "Nodecoins". So basically you buy "Nodecoins" that are used on the cryptocurrency platform "Node". The same sort of debate happened with NEM, and they are just calling it NEM and not NEMcoins. I think the currency abbreviation of NODE is also better than NDC (for Nodecoin).

As far as branding/marketing, once we have a nice looking web site up with properly written copy we can then:

1) Pay a small amount to have advertising articles published for us (like what you see on PRweb, Cryptocoinnews, etc)

2) Start channels and campaigns on Facebook, Youtube and Twitter

3) Look into building a multiple-algorithm accepting multipool that would allow people to mine for Nodecoins by pointing their hashing power at a pool that mines POW coins and sells them for Nodecoins. This seems to be a necessity now after Blackcoin did it (NXT has one as well).

I can take the initiative and scan your current site (and Node.js) for content and then rewrite the content in a more advertising-friendly sort of way and put it up on a visually pleasing web site. I am definitely not a social media guy so maybe a bounty could be offered for a social media person to maintain the facebook/twitter/youtube channels? They could basically just take the content from the web site and then just maintain those pages with news updates.

Let me know what you think. Like I mentioned, I worked professionally as a web dev and tech writer for many years so this stuff comes naturally to me now (I'd often have to take loose content from various sources, rewrite it and put it up on a nice web site that I built from scratch, sometimes in a matter of hours for demanding corporations!)

I like the idea, but it ultimately means that nerds who snort crank to play the game 24/7 will be the ones holding the majority of the coins. I may be slightly nerdy, but I don't have the time to spend playing games, and I'm going to become meth-head so I can stay up all night playing.

Then you do your day job and make money and pay the poor folk who don't have a day job so they sit around playing this game securing some coins.
A game that somehow was more than a waste of time would've been better though but also harder to make.
Still... protein folding comes to mind.
Then the poor people without a job could be making something useful and then you pay them for their time with your day job money and we all benefit with a better financial transaction system. ... aah utopian dreams.

Maybe we can start off with Nodecoin and later on drop the coin.

Then how do you properly rebranding so that users do not get confused, almost all users know us as NXTL

Just keep Node logo and description of what it is in the header.

NXTL on Node
NXTL:Node

later you just start making the Node part of the logo bigger. Smiley

I really like this concept. But how do you plan to stop bots?
I understand this levels are generated randomly, but nearly everything is botable.

what stops someone from botting this game?
It isn't easy to make bot for this game. Sometime in the future maybe someone will make such a bot. Then this currency will be mined with these bots, it will be like switch from CPU -> GPU -> ASIC for other cryptocurrencies. But I don't expect this to happen soon.
