Yes. Huntercoin was the first cryptocurrency launched for people to generate coins while playing the game. Therefore this one is not that innovative!

but hey... who knows maybe this one picks up where huntercoin failed.

Huntercoin can be mined with hardware (SHA256 or Scrypt). I don't know much about Huntercoin and what role game plays there, but in Motocoin game is used instead of hardware mining.

I was thinking about "Proof of Play" but decided to name it "Proof of Thought". If there are a lot of people who think that this is wrong then I will think about renaming it.

what stops someone from botting this game?

It isn't easy to make bot for this game. Sometime in the future maybe someone will make such a bot. Then this currency will be mined with these bots, it will be like switch from CPU -> GPU -> ASIC for other cryptocurrencies. But I don't expect this to happen soon.

This is a nice idea but won't work in practise for several reasons:

- Levels are generated pseudo-randomly so if you have access to the pseudo-random generator, you can make the levels considerably easier.
- Block solutions can simply be copied and used by someone else to try and prove that they were the one who completed the level
- If the physics of the game are deterministic and it is easy to prove someone really did solve a level then what prevents that process from being reversed and used to generate solutions. With SHA256 and scrypt they are one way functions so this can't be done.
- Even if solutions are found to all the above problems, computers will still become better at playing this game than humans ad we will be back to proof of work.

Without any released source files you should assume the coin is a pump and dump scam by the developer.

I like the idea, but it ultimately means that nerds who snort crank to play the game 24/7 will be the ones holding the majority of the coins. I may be slightly nerdy, but I don't have the time to spend playing games, and I'm going to become meth-head so I can stay up all night playing.

Then you do your day job and make money and pay the poor folk who don't have a day job so they sit around playing this game securing some coins.
A game that somehow was more than a waste of time would've been better though but also harder to make.
Still... protein folding comes to mind.
Then the poor people without a job could be making something useful and then you pay them for their time with your day job money and we all benefit with a better financial transaction system. ... aah utopian dreams.

This is a very interesting idea - although I'm also sceptical because

a) no sources are released now - I'd love to test it (testnet anyone?), but I'm not downloading any binaries, and

b) I do not really believe that the game is so hard to write a bot for that humans are really superior to computers, even in the short run.

But I'm watching this and will try it out after launch.

BTW, regarding Huntercoin:  In Huntercoin, "human mining" is not used to secure the network - instead, the game is "just for fun" (since the goal is/will be Chronokings as a full RPG).  But the (hardware-mined) blockchain is a nice way to get rid of a central game server.  The idea to use logic puzzles as PoW is clever, although my points above apply.  It would also be interesting to try indeed something "useful" where humans are better than computers, like protein folding.  Or possibly to generalise the game to a multiplayer one, where people have to cooperate in some way to solve a level, and everyone who contributed gets rewarded proportionally - this would be a kind of "pool" and could also make the game more interesting.

I renamed proof-of-thought to proof-of-play. I think that new name better describes this cryptocurency. Word thought was used to emphasize that it is to be mined by humans and not by computers, that you need to think to mine some motocoins. Proof-of-play gives more immediate description of Motocoin.
