221  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [A POLL] Without Chances of Making Money, Will you still be gambling? on: January 04, 2024, 08:12:50 PM
There has been a lot of talk about the reality of gamblers “gambling for fun”. I think most people are in denial about the subject. I don’t think anyone would be interested in gambling if there wasn’t nothing at stake. The thrill of winning is what excites gamblers and makes the gambling casinos one of the biggest markets in the world. I doubt people would be interested if there was no reward in gambling. Little wonder why many people do not like to play demo game.
222  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How possible is it to win lottery 14 times using mathematics calculations on: January 04, 2024, 07:42:18 PM
Bloggers will post anything for traffic. I’m sure they did not verify the story before posting. The story sounds like it was written in a movie. It’s impracticable to win the lottery 14 times in a row. The system is designed by professionals in a way that house always have the advantage. Casinos cannot afford to have people rigging their machines. After your first five consecutive wins, the casino would suspect foul play and investigate. And if they don’t find any proof of foul play, you would still be under the radar and likely other casinos would have heard of you.
223  Other / Meta / Re: Two Same Topic in Gambling Discussion section on: January 04, 2024, 02:17:00 PM
I haven’t seen you post in any of the football threads before, it seems Basketball is your favorite sport. If you are fan of sports betting you would know that this thread is completely different from the others, it’s only for selected users.
Please note Local rule: This thread is only for those who have paid to play in the pool. Anyone posting in here who hasn't paid will have their posts removed.

This is how I see it. Trofo’s EPL thread is the oldest and most popular. The thread by JG is self moderated and is not as active as Trofo’s EPL thread and many times it’s not bumped to the first page. I just discovered @Blue Snow started his own EPL thread and it’s been very active. It will be difficult for mods to delete or lock a active topic.
224  Economy / Economics / Re: When the world is evolving, follow the trend. on: January 02, 2024, 09:54:44 PM

I am aware that cryptocurrencies might not replace fiat but I am sure that they will play a greater part in the global financial system in the future. This is why many countries are introducing CBDCs in a bid to fill in the vacuum created by cryptocurrencies. But they have also failed to achieve their aim because people know that these CBDCs are nothing but digital fiat.
I don’t think the government has failed in their plan to implement CBDCs. The past few years have only been a test run to introduce CBDCs to the public so people will not find the idea of a digital version of fiat as strange when it finally happens. So far, they have been able to control the perception about CBDCs and from the way I see things, there is not going to be much resistance from the masses if the government decide to go ahead with implementing CBDCs.
225  Economy / Economics / Re: Sometimes tips the securities at the mall or local shops on: January 02, 2024, 09:20:48 PM
When we walk into a mall, I believe they are the first person we see, and i have seen most of them with a lovely smile and welcome message. While you are leaving as well, they say goodbye and thank you for shopping with us. Don't you think they are worth tipping?

You mean the doorman or actual security guards? I have never had a security guard thank me for shopping at the mall. To be frank, I don’t usually tip security guards mainly because the ones in my area feel entitled and beg a lot and sometimes it can embarrassing for customers like myself. They get paid for doing their job, I don’t understand why they should expect tips from customers when you do not provide any additional service to the customer. I know for sure the management do not condone the act.

There are people I can tip because I appreciate their services like a waitress, doorman, valet or a bathroom attendant. Tipping security guards at malls is not my thing.
226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could it be possible of isolating proud in Bitcoin during advertisement on: January 02, 2024, 08:29:31 PM
Yes Bitcoin isn’t an illegal investment or something to be ashamed about. If Bitcoin is illegal in your country, you should be careful and refrain from having public conversations about Bitcoin. One should be proud to be a bitcoiner but should never expose how much money he has in Bitcoin. Your hodlings are your private property and information like that should not be shared with a third person even if you’re teaching that person about Bitcoin. There are better ways to introduce someone to Bitcoin without telling them your success story in Bitcoin.

Perhaps you should wait for the festivities to end before posting. You probably typed this while holding a bottle of champagne in one hand.
227  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and health concern on: January 02, 2024, 08:03:03 PM

My question is :
Do you know the status of your health while gambling and what do you do if you happen to suffer a mild or hard stroke?

This is why I make it a point to open my messenger and have my loved one that I can contact in case, whenever I'm playing alone.

Aside from gambling, one should maintain a healthy lifestyle. Your body automatically changes when you are above 40, exercises and frequent medical checkups is very important for your health. I’m not that old to worry about having a heart attack or a stroke anytime soon. If you have a heart condition, you should not be doing anything that can cause too much excitement or trigger a heart attack. Gambling should not be a choice for you and your family would not want to take  that risk with you.
228  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling for fun, is it a lie that we tell ourselves? on: January 02, 2024, 07:39:28 PM

I know that it's said that you should gamble the amount that you can afford to loose, but will you call it a true fun when you know that there's a higher probability of losing your bet?
It’s a known fact to all gamblers that the games are tipped in favour of the casino. A pro gambler will always check the RTP rate of the game before playing. If the house has a significant advantage that makes you uncomfortable, you can choose not to play that game and go for a more fair game. Gambling can be fun but it can also become serious business when the stakes are high, the fear of losing all you have takes away the fun and in that moment all you want is a win.
229  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Can someone explain ? Educated people but all they do is just scam on: January 01, 2024, 08:14:59 PM
Sometimes,  most scammers are most smartest set of forks on the internet but they choose to use the smartness in the wrong directions and that,  so for sure educated or not,  what really matters is what they tend to believe and act on.

Scamming of of different classes and categories and for sure some uneducated people also scam but then they have to put in some dubious tactic that allows them to act on the minds of the victims.
I disagree. Scammers aren’t the smartest people on the internet, they are just very good at scouting and convincing people. Many of the bitcoin scammers on social media aren’t very intelligent people. They all have the same profile pattern and operate the same way. Also they do not have a good understanding of Bitcoin, and as a result are less likely to convince someone with crypto experience to invest with them, the advantage scammers have is their ability to exploit the greedy nature of their victims.
230  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What many of us newbies are getting wrong about merit on: December 30, 2023, 09:34:26 PM

And i think important threads like this if there have been made before should either be pinned on top so new commers intrested should view too or the idea of telling newbies to search for old topics should also be publicised on this forum  too as we always encourage others them to do personal research.

Aren’t you contradicting yourself here? I’m certain if the mods pinned your thread today, we would still have newbies creating the same thread about how to get merits. The problem is that most newbies do not want to do their own research even when the information is at their fingertips, they rather make their own thread than read. I believe people who do this here like to talk than listen IRL.

232  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as a Replacement for a College Savings Plan on: December 30, 2023, 08:49:11 PM
A lot of people have shared their opinion on the topic, if we had a poll I believe 60% would be against the idea of the OP. For me, I think you should base your decision on the economy of your country and your values. If you are living in Nigeria, like me, or any third world nation for that matter, it would be a wise decision to skip college and use that money to invest in bitcoin and train your child on a skill. In Africa, the number of graduates per year is triple the amount of jobs available. Having a skill is more lucrative than a masters degree.
233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will do to bank what Email did to post office on: December 30, 2023, 08:23:30 PM
Banks won’t go obsolete, they are smart enough to evolve with the times. I can’t envision a society without Banks. Where will private businesses and startups get money to build their businesses? The banks are more than just financial institutions where people save their money, the banking sector is crucial to the economy of any country. What you’re proposing is not realistic, there is so much that needs to be done for that to happen.
234  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: In The Span Of six months what will make you trust a new casino on: December 30, 2023, 07:21:23 PM
For me,  six months is still very small to know the real character pf a new project,  we should give the mat least a year or two to be able to see their true colour because of a casino really mean to manipulate their ways,  their could go for six months faking things
You forget a casino with the intention to scam its users can play the long con and stay for two years before pulling the plug. These ones are the scammers that rake the big pots, because they have more users gambling hugely on their casinos. If a casino ticks all my boxes namely the ones listed in the OP, I would have no problem trusting them. Do not be mistaken my friend, I’m not trusting blindly but cautiously.
235  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying and Losing My First Bitcoin on: December 30, 2023, 06:57:05 PM
Your story is one of many. If you had managed to hodl the bitcoins till date, it would have been a good ROI in your portfolio. I believe many bitcoin investors lost a good chunk of their investment to high yield investment programs and altcoins. You may not want to hear this but I think you’re fortunate that you lost only $25. Back then, the notion was that Bitcoin was a ponzi and people were looking for quick ways to get rich, that made them a easy target for scammers.
236  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My Thanks To All forum members on: December 29, 2023, 09:46:05 PM
That has taught me to do my own research before taking any financial decisions.
And this has helped me not only in crypto investment but also helped me survive in the online world where several Scammers are looking for every opportunity to take advantage of your ignorance.
Welcome back. I hope you will be more active in the new year. There are a lot more scammers than there are genuine users on Reddit. I’m glad you found the forum early in your learning process. Even though you’re not an expert in the field right now, you can easily recognize scam attempts and avoid them.

Stick around more and contribute to current topics, you will be surprised how much the community rewards newbies who are interested in learning.
237  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can I dodge KYC using the his medium. on: December 29, 2023, 09:24:47 PM
Is it possible one can dodge KYC verification request after winning a big amount of money and decides not to withdraw a lump sum but bit by bit in smaller amounts. I have read many posts talking about how they wanted to withdraw the money they won but due to the amount they wanted to withdraw was big, they were asked  pass kyc verification because they never did when they first registered.
If you don’t want to do kyc, you should not play at casinos that require one. It’s important to read the TOS of the casino so you don’t run into problems later. A couple of things can make a casino flag your account for suspicious activity and request for your personal information. And withdrawal of sums above $10k is one of them, you may not experience such difficulty when making deposits but be sure you will have to complete kyc in order to withdraw from the casino. This is the casino’s own way of ensuring there isn’t any form of illegal activity or money laundering associated with their service.
238  Economy / Gambling / Re: Casino Christmas Bonuses - Suggestions Anyone? on: December 29, 2023, 07:57:32 PM
But if you have any other suggestions, I would appreciate it a lot. Thanks!
Bets.io also has a couple of bonuses going on though they are not Christmas themed;
cashback every day
Weekend reload bonus
first deposit bonus
mystery boxes

If you are a frequent gambler, I would suggest you take advantage of the free bonus. The cashback everyday bonus sounds interesting as it gives the player a percentage of the amount deposited. The catch is you would have to deposit a high amount of money to get a higher percentage. Read the TOS for further information to make sure you qualify.
239  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: December 28, 2023, 10:58:17 PM
In tonight's match, two North London teams received crushing and embarrassing defeats.
Tottenham had to go home empty-handed without full points from Brighton with a score of 4-2
Meanwhile, Arsenal was humiliated by West Ham United at home with a score of 0-2

And I didn't expect West Ham United to be able to beat Arsenal at home without a goal, and if you look at Arsenal's track record playing at home they always win. And in the match against West Ham United Arsenal were very bad and their performance was not as usual, they had difficulty scoring goals at home.
Records are meant to be broken. This is why we love the game of football. We get to see the shockers and unpredictability of the sport and tonight wasn’t left out. Before the match, a lot of people tipped Arsenal to win West Ham, it was the only reasonable bet since they had a good history playing at home. I can imagine their disappointment and frustration seeing the results of the game.
240  Economy / Economics / Re: Are fast-fashion shopping apps hurting local economy? on: December 28, 2023, 08:47:28 PM
I had the experience of purchasing from the Ali Express online store, but I was not delighted with the quality of the goods they provided. Usually, it looks completely different from what is shown in the photo. But I noticed one significant thing: the Chinese act very quickly, and as soon as there is a demand for one or another branded product, they instantly create a fake, which, of course, does not match the original but is in great demand due to its low cost.
Did you return the product to the store? I read there is usually a 14 day window to return the items to the store and they will ship another one for you. The sad part of buying stuff online is that you can’t tell the quality of a product by looking at photos. Like you said, there are a lot of fakes on AliExpress. To be safe, I often go through the reviews of the seller before buying. But these days, reviews can be done by the seller to make their shop look good. It’s better to buy directly from the original brand especially if you’re buying designer clothes and shoes.
