221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: August 13, 2017, 03:25:30 AM
Just received an email confirmation that my November order was paid (bitcoin). I wish I would have used litecoin to pay since it would have been much much faster to confirm.

Bought couple of units, probably was a bad a idea. Did some forward projections with last 8 weeks as a past sample size, looks like we will lucky to make 10 bucks a day when the November batch comeouts for D3

That is about what I came up with also is we will be lucky to see $10 a day out of these... And that may be a little too optimistic.  All depends on how many miners they are shipping from each of the vendors and what Bitmain is going to be shipping.  Maybe you'll catch a break if Bitmain sales choke off the sales of the other miners.  Hard to know.

I know my Baikal's are just getting destroyed already so I don't think they will continue to run for a lot longer with the way things are collapsing already.

I don't think it will be nearly that bad and I'm optimistic it will actually be much better. If I'm completely wrong and it only mined exactly $10/day indefinitely (for the sake of easy math), it would still only take 7 months (216.5 days) to reach 100% ROI @ $0.10/kWh ($2.88/day in electricity = $7.12/day profit). If that's the worst case scenario, then this seems like a REALLY good bet to me.

Sure mate because coz we all know ROI always will stays constant at 10 bucks a month and difficulty and all other factors wont reduce it. lol!

$10/day was the number that was suggested, I just ran with it. Nobody actually believes the profit per day will stay constant. I think it will actually be much better than $10/day. So do lots of other people apparently. We could all be wrong, but I prefer to be optimistic.

Full disclosure: I don't have a crystal ball.

224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Set up guide of Antminer D3 on: August 12, 2017, 01:42:26 AM
The AntMiner D3 setup and configuration will most likely be just like every previous AntMiner Bitmain has released. Since the first batch of the AntMiner D3 does not ship until September 15-25, nobody here can answer your question with absolute certainty. Here's a setup guide for the AntMiner L3+ (Bitmain's most recently released miner) that shows exactly where to go in the interface to configure your pool settings. The D3 setup will likely look nearly identical.

Anyone here that didnt even receive the confirmation email from bitmain on email? I paid in time and I realize that they will shift my order from expired to valid, but its just strange that I didnt receive email

I rarely receive a confirmation email until they manually mark the order as paid a few days later.

omg I need power supply. I have ordered D3 in previos batch.

FYI: Use this link (still not accessible at the moment, but may be a 'back door' after the site is back up again): https://shop.bitmain.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020170802143751593t5IHEi4Q0667

I was able to buy one using this link a few hours ago...

THANK YOU. It shows up in my account properly after checking out, so hopefully Bitmain actually honors it. May I ask how you found the hidden product page?

has Anyone here experience buy or sell Antminer on Amazon? Is it easy to return or get returned the miner within 30 days?

The last antminer I saw on amazon had a restocking fee of up to 40 percent from the seller. I would generally stay away from online marketplaces because though typically they side with the buyer (you), you'd have a hell of a time proving anything to them since this has become a hot item rich with scams and problems.

But thats just an anecdotal instance from a friend, ymmv. Good luck!

I can offer some insight into this. While pricing is definitely a lot higher, Amazon has great consumer protections that make it really easy to return miners within 30-days. Sellers DO have the ability to charge a restocking fee unless they are using Fulfillment By Amazon (Prime). The restocking fees are often set high as a way to discourage scammers. For example, we receive a ton of returns right before the 30-day mark for mining devices. Many unscrupulous customers attempt to "rent" miners and then return them after mining for a month. That is why you rarely see mining devices sold using Prime - sellers using Prime for mining devices are practically begging to get ripped off and is often the sign of an inexperienced seller.

Here's what you should expect if you want to return a mining device on Amazon:
  • If there are any delays or problems with the device, you will have no problems getting a full refund and return shipping is usually pre-paid. Planning for power requirements, noise, and heat management is the buyer's responsibility.
  • If you are returning a device that is fully functional, then you should expect to pay a restocking fee. The sooner you return the device after receiving it, the less the restocking fee will be. Waiting until day 30 will guarantee that you pay the full restocking fee.

Of course, there are lots of really bad sellers on Amazon too that are either scamming or just incompetent. Pay attention to shipping dates and feedback ratings.

Guys I successfully ordered and paid power supply today via BTC payment. But I didn't got any order confirmation to my mail. Do you think it's okay?

Yes, this is normal. We see a flood of people after every batch in every Bitmain product thread talking about this. Bitmain will confirm your order - don't freak out if it suddenly says "unpaid / expired". They may take a few days (or a week+), but they'll update the order and mark it as paid/valid and you'll receive an email with confirmation.

Can I lay down the miner ?

Is this a problem?

I dont have the place for 19cm height.

I have enough air circulation.

No, this should not cause any problems. The only moving parts are the fans and they can be placed in any direction. The Airflow should not be affected negatively as long as nothing is blocking it.

So, correct me if I'm wrong.  Could I just use this d3 X11 to mine cannabis coin or some other X11 coin to help keep profitability up for a longer period of time?  If everyone plans to use this to mine Dash, since it's the most profitable at the moment, that would keep attention away from other coins for a while.  Or am I misunderstanding mining X11?

I would, of course, ultimately trade the cannabis coin for a legitimate currency like Dash or BTC.

Thoughts?

Correct. The D3 can mine any X11-based coin, just like the L3+ can mine any Scrypt-based coin. The difference is that there aren't nearly as many good X11 coins out there to pick from.

Super sketchy and barely a month old - I would not trust. Scammers are popping these sights up faster than they can be reported.

...the absolute scum of the so-called business world are the folks that sell accounts for almost the price of the miner they didn't buy...

I think we can all agree with that! They aren't even taking any risks  Angry

...or the folks that buy something and sell it for more than double because they can...

Hey there now... Wink
Do you think that people who bought cryptocurrencies at $x and sold at $2x are scum? How about brick and mortar stores that purchase from manufacturers in bulk and then sell to their customers? What makes that different from purchasing hardware and selling it for more? At least as an Amazon reseller we offer significant protections for the consumer, the ability to use credit cards, 30-day seller warranties (in addition to the manufacturer's warranty), reliable shipping without customs hassles or import fees, as well as TONS of support and assistance. We're taking the same huge risks as everyone here by purchasing hardware 2-3 months in advance, which everyone here knows is an eternity in crypto-land. Oh, and it's not always profitable either!

Hi guys,
I have ordered one (october batch) so I hope that ROI will be about 2 months.
If it will make 500€ / month I will be happy. It's my first investition for mining, so let's see and good luck to all who ordered D3 too.  Wink

Welcome Dexterqo and congrats on getting one of the October batch D3s!
235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: August 08, 2017, 06:22:35 PM
I appreciate the analysis that as hash rate climbs the price climbs.  However if you use BTC as an example there is a TON of hash chasing BTC and the profitability of those miners who mine BTC for the most part is really not very good.  This is why so many people mine the "alt's" and not BTC directly.

With this much hash rate dumping on X11 even if the price climbs the return/profitability of the miners is going to really stink and by the end of the year, and is probably going to be a pretty grim picture.  I don't mine BTC directly for a reason.  And with this huge dog pile in X11 it looks like there are very good reasons to not mine X11.  Now if you were one of the lucky ones to get a DM11G in the first batches or possibly even one of the first batches from Bitmain you may have a shot at getting your ROI in good time frame, but everything after that starts to look like a daily grind to squeeze out any profit.  I say congrats to the guys who bought the first batches and will likely get rewarded for their risk taking.  Everyone else jumping in now are going to be shocked as their calculations for profits crumble.

If you really think Dash is going that high then now is the time to buy a lot of Dash and hold it.

I have Baikal A900 giants and the profitability of those miners has fallen to almost nothing already regardless of the algo that they support.  By next month if things don't change those miners may be lucky to break even after cost at this rate of decline.

It is time for a reality check on the expectations for these miners.    Ask someone who is mining X11 right now what the picture looks like already.

I bet Bitmain will delay batches to release late September. They will announce, "Driver issue. More testing!"

Have they done something like that in the past?

Yes, the very first batch for the AntMiner S7 was slightly delayed. Bitmain ended up compensating everyone with bitcoin for the lost mining time.

I'd also recommend logging into your account before 5am so that you don't get delayed by the login process. You should setup your default address in your profile settings to expedite the checkout process.
237  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: August 08, 2017, 03:17:19 PM
Current Dash network hashrate is somewhere around 15 TH/s. That means that if there was a total of ~7000 Antminers D3 sold in the first 3 batches, that the network hashrate is going to jump by (15GH/s=0.015TH/s) 0.015 TH/s*7000 = 105 TH. That is of course not including other ASIC manufacturers and making an assumption that all those Antminers already sold are not already hashing right now. This is pretty much a 10x bump in network hashrate even for first 3 batches. Does that means that the profits are going to be cut 10 times, leaving you with 20 bucks a day?

Am I mising something?
Do you honestly think the 15 TH that are mining now are going to stay on? Also, the other miners are going to be a minority. There's been historically a price increase with hash increase. We'll have to see if that holds true.

There's also a good chance that much of the hashrate from the D3s has already been added to the network while Bitmain "tests" them. We'll likely see a noticeable downward spike when they ship the first batch.

It was albertojames who said 35k, not you BenRicker - I know you're smarter than that. I meant no disrespect to you.

My own view is Bitmain will continue to pump out L3+'s month to month till they again get to Bitmain's warm and fuzzy 12-15 month ROI again. (evil tm bitmain)

Lol? How does a 12-15 month ROI make Bitmain evil (or even greedy)? Any other investment opportunity with those types of quick returns would be killed for. Most people who like cryptocurrencies also like the idea of a free market - in which price is dictated by supply and demand. I would argue that Bitmain has been seriously underpricing their products for years or else there wouldn't be such a vibrant resale market and they wouldn't sell out so fast. Sounds like the opposite of evil to me. Perhaps we are the ones who are being greedy by seeking to enrich ourselves faster. There sure are a lot of rocks getting thrown in this glass house  Tongue

They started selling the L3+ for 1200usd and later raised the price to ~2k usd. Nothing changed about the technology they were selling or they didn't start shipping out faster. You know what changed? The price of ltc and the return made from mining it. So yes, they ARE greedy.

I'm curious if you would think better of them had they started at $3k and dropped to $2k. If so, then you have just identified the logical fallacy you're falling victim to. Rather than asking if $2k is the right balance between supply/demand, you are comparing an arbitrary value to another arbitrary value and then judging a for-profit company for having the audacity to make a profit. It sounds like people are just salty that they missed out on better pricing. I know I would be way happier with $1200/L3+, but I don't get upset with Bitmain for doing what they do. That would be silly.
