221  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: March 23, 2024, 12:13:14 PM
Something which is so close to impossible obviously. The gap between Inter and AC Milan is now 14 points and there are 9 matches remaining only. Mathematically it is still possible for Inter to lose the scudetto if they lose 5 matches out of 9 remaining matches while on the other side AC Milan win all the 9 remaining matches. This scenario will make Inter have 88 final points while AC milan will have 89 final points. Looking at all the remaining matches of Inter, maybe AC Milan is the only one that may make lose 3 points while the other 8 matches should not be a big deal for Inter to win.

Statistically, the season is still not over, but both teams and players are now starting to think that Inter Milan won the league. Of course, nothing is guaranteed, Inter's performance may suddenly drop or something may happen, but I have accepted that they will be champions now.
Talking about which team can finish second in the league gives me more excitement now Smiley
There are 9 matches remaining to play before the season ends and Inter Milan is leading AC Milan, their closest rival, with 14 points gap. Assuming AC Milan wins their 9 matches that will be a total of 27 points. Under such situation, Inter Milan needs to win only 5 of their remaining 9 matches and they will win the league. As can be seen from their performance this season and for the fact that they are out of champions league, I don't see anything that will stop them from winning the five matches needed to win the league on the ground that AC Milan will win their 9 remaining matches. In my humble opinion, we should look beyond this season because it is already a done deal that Inter Milan will win the league.
222  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: brazil sanctioned law that taxes online betting in the country on: March 23, 2024, 07:53:29 AM
In nutshell: bettors will have to pay 15% on the winnings received from any bets, regardless of whether the reward is small or large, and companies will have to pay 12% on revenue.

This is for physical bets or bets made online.

Lula (thief corrupt president) vetoed income tax for winnings from bets of up to R$2112 (~425 USD) per month.

The funny thing is that he didn't take into account the loss that bettors have before calculating the tax (that's a lot of bullshit).

Summary of the story: the government wants to be our partner only in gains, but in losses, we alone are forced to bear the financial losses. Very convenient, right?

What do you think of this? Is there any regulation in the betting sector in your country?

Do you think the government should really collect alternative sources of income from its citizens such as online gambling?
This sounds more to me like the government indirectly discouraging people from gambling because in a nutshell,  it makes gambling rarely profitable as you will be remitting any profit you manage to make to the government. If I place 10 bets and win only 3 and I'm taxed in the 3 bets that I won, what happens to the bets I lost? Is this not simply increasing the loss of the gambler? This simply means that the government is saying don't gamble and if you insist,  if you didn't lose your money to the bookies,  we will take it from you... whichever case, the loss is on the gamblers and only few will escape.

What happens to taxing only credits to bank accounts? This is the effective way to tax and not to tax individual bet slip.
223  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do you feel when you earn merits in your post or replies. on: March 23, 2024, 07:37:21 AM
Merit like the name suggest is a measure of the quality of information contained in your post so when your post is merited, it will surely bring some kind of good feelings such as will make you believe you are contributing to this forum and the Bitcoin community.  This feeling of achievement is not perculiar to newbies and low ranking members who many believe are just posting for the merits,  even Legendary members also feel good when their posts are merited.

If an active member goes for weeks and months without earning merits, he will be overwhelmed by the feeling of frustration. Personally, if I don't earn a merit in a week, I will be so discouraged but I somehow have my way of picking myself up. I don't know if others do it, but whenever I notice my post receives merit,  I will go back to the post and read it over and over again to see why it earned merit and how I can build on it.  Merits truly give a feeling of fulfilment.
224  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you won a bet with your last cash? on: March 22, 2024, 11:41:15 PM
I don't gamble with my last cash and I will never encourage gamblers to gamble with their last cash in the gambling center because, it can punish you into borrowing money from other people to transport your self back to your destination or borrow to gamble.
You are right Zanab, anyone who can persist in gambling to the extent of gambling with the last cash can borrow to gamble. It could also be a sign that such person is drifting towards addition without knowing. It is a normal thing to see stranded gambler in some physical ambling shops in my area, who begs others after they have lost all they came with to the casino. The surprising thing being that any money they were given to them will still go back into the casino. The gamble with their last cash and that is not a good thing to do.

225  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Between Betting Exchanges and Sportsbooks Which has a Profit Potential? on: March 22, 2024, 09:34:11 PM
How does betting exchange work exactly? I learned that it is different from a sports book. I have looked through the gambling board I am yet to see anything like that.

I have read about it but I've never been involved in it personally, so there's not so much that I know about it aside from what I have read.

You can go through this link to know more about it and probably get the answer that you wish to know: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/betting/sports-guides/betting-exchanges/
Thanks for sharing this article as I have also come to learn a lot about betting exchanges. Indeed betting exchanges are the traditional gambling that I grew up knowing; I never knew it has now been integrated into online platforms. To be sincere, I do not like the concept for the fact that I will be playing against my fellow gambler and the progress of one person means the downfall of a fellow gambler. Like I said before, this pattern existed in the past and I hated it completely because most of those who indulged in it then were the poorest and destitute which make me see it as an activity of one poor person trying to steal from another poor person. As at then, each time I see two people gambling using that pattern, the first thing that I do is to run a mental check on what could be the net worth of the gambler and how much I could possibly win from him. The moment I asked myself this question, it further make me hate the entire concept. Gambling should be something that should change my life and not some hobby that will not make any serious positive impact in my life.
226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: in future are you hoping to see some countries in Africa legalis bitcoin. on: March 22, 2024, 03:03:40 PM
bitcoin is a future digital currency, i strongly believes that before BTC celebrate 50 years in existence at least one or two African countries is going to legalis it. because block chain network is expanding every day by day. and most of the countries in Africa have the knowledge BTC how it works.
It will be hard to know which countries will legalize Bitcoin in Africa and which will not because as government changes, so does policies. As of today Central African Republic has taken the lead in this regards and many other African countries might consider it when they see the successes of CAR over the coming years.

When the new government of Nigeria came on board,  expectations were high that they will legalize Bitcoin following some of their policies like lifting the restrictions placed on accounts of some individuals and enterprises who engaged in cryptocurrency.  Well, the joy among crypto lovers of Nigeria was short-lived when the government began their crackdown on cryptocurrency exchanges which they accused of playing a part in messing up the exchange rates of the country, an action that could not address the worsening economy of the country and which many see as exercise in futility.

Conclusively, the potential of Bitcoin is great globally and even in Africa and with time, we will have leaders that will be able to embrace it rather than stand against it.
227  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Streamer's fan took his own life due to addiction on: March 20, 2024, 03:29:20 PM
A sad reality of online streaming that also doubles as a gambling promotion is that it can have unknown consequences with its widespread reach. As it recently came to light, a fan of Adin Ross took his own life. The controversy however was much more than just this fact. The controversy stemmed from the fact that Adin Ross' editor, being completely apathetic to these news of a man taking his own life, called it "old news" in a dismissive tone.

Source: https://www.sportskeeda.com/esports/news-rip-him-adin-ross-editor-confirms-kick-star-reacted-fan-taking-life-due-gambling-addiction

Adin Ross is one of the most famous streamers in the world right now, with his content having hundreds of thousands of hours in watch time. Of course much of his content is direct promotion to slots games and such gambling. Perhaps Kick should add some limits to how "controversial" a streamer can be in their platform. People like Ross were banned from twitch after maaany violations.

What do you think about this? Do such people deserve a platform even on Kick?
What I expect is that a disclaimer be made visible to pass the responsibilities of what people do with the information to them. He style of presentation, who often appear as being controversial, may just be part of his uniqueness even though he seems to go too extreme. I wouldn't hold it on him for another of his follower taking his life, there is really no justification for that. With a disclaimer, followers should understand the importance of maintaining their sanity while consuming the content.

This is not the first time someone is taking his life with even awkward reason. We must not ban people or activities just because people who are sick could not know how to control their emotions. We have heard of issues of supporters of a team being attacked for merely being supporters. Should the team whose supported attack others be banned for the actions of their supporters? Even though these two scenarios may not exactly be the same, I'm sure you should be able to get the message it is conveying.  People should take their mental health seriously, this is the simple truth.
228  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rich or poor gambler, who should risk more? on: March 20, 2024, 03:20:52 PM
poor people or rich gambler all takes risks and cannot help in many ways to avoid this as long as they are into gambling, we only have to make sure that the ones we are taking aren't beyond the capacity to what we can afford to.
Yes you are right, the risk people take is a proportion of their income. The reason it seems that the rich risk more is that people are looking at the total amount without knowing that $100k may mean to a rich gambler what $10 will mean to a poor gambler. To both of them, they are taking equivalent risk and they are the only people that can show you what those respective amounts mean to them. Remember the story of the "widows mites" where small amount was taken to mean even bigger amounts of donation. In conclusion, every gambler take risk in commensuration to their income, only gamble addicts tends to go over the limits and we all know the impact this usually have on their lives.

229  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: March 20, 2024, 01:26:24 PM

HOLD Hold
Investing in Bitcoins must be done using the DCA method, as you need to have regular investments. If you invest in high speed market you will invest regularly in dumping market. Then your average price control will come and your investment will be successful. So you can make your own way of regularization from the list.
Please this is not correct, there is no law that says investment in Bitcoin must be done through the DCA method because the DCA method is just one way of buying Bitcoin and not the only way. There are other methods and even the caption of this thread mentioned buying the dip which is one method of buying that is also great. It is not right to send the wrong or incomplete message out.

I have seen many great investors in Bitcoin who were able to share their story and most of them never used the DCA method, they just bought when they had the funds and were not too interested if price was low or high because their believe and trust in Bitcoin was high so they believe that the investment will not go bad especially as they planned holding for very long time. It should have been clear to you by now that the success of a Bitcoin investor is highly dependent on how he manages the investment than how he made the investment. So being able to hold your Bitcoin after getting is very important and should occupy most of our planning because any method used to get it is fine as long as we make plans to hold it while living our normal lives.

231  Economy / Speculation / Re: Contest: Predict the exact possible bitcoin price for 22-3-24 and win merits on: March 19, 2024, 04:06:08 PM
I had some merits lying around with me for some time. So thought to do a contest here for this.

The member with the closest estimate will win this contest.

Good luck.
It's good you decided to distribute your merit this way and I highly encourage you to keep it up. Just like Oshosondy rightly said, the topic belong to speculation since it is about Bitcoin price prediction.

As a reply on this thread, you have to post the exact possible price for bitcoin on 22-2-24 , 8 pm Indian time.
I think the date here is past, that is 22nd of February. If you are referring to this month, then the right date should be 22-3-24.

I look forward to seeing you make the corrections and I will drop my prediction and hope I win.
232  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is not place to make money is place to lose it? on: March 19, 2024, 10:21:20 AM
Hi everyone,

Gambling has become very popular in the world , especially after the changes that have occurred over the years with modern technology and the abundance of games, we can now gamble with one push    anywhere and anytime . More money is flowing to sites and casinos in huge quantities, and everyone’s goal is to win more ,As is always known, if there is a loser, there is a winner, and I don't think that the percentage of losers is greater than the winners .

Is this true gambling is not place to make money is place to lose it?
Who propounded this theory that "gambling is not a place to make money..."? I don't agree with this postulation because people do actually make money from gambling. Losses do happen and there is no gambler than have not gotten a fair share of that but that does not mean that overall that is the only thing that gambling is known for. The sweet thing about gambling is that someone can lose 3 times and win one yet still remain in good profits. It is not about how many times losses happens that determine how successful a gambler can be but the ability to arrange one's gambling activities in such a way that despite the losses that will surely come, one is still able to remain profitable.
233  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 Push-Ups A Day Until Bitcoin Is $100K Challenge on: March 19, 2024, 08:20:19 AM

Traders are fucking around with short term price moves and likely to get fucked in times like these when they are likely selling too much too soon.. and investors do not sell until they have already reached a decent status, that is most likely going to be over at  least a whole cycle and maybe even at least a couple of cycles, and investors may only sell parts of their holdings rather than all of it... but hey, there can be quite a few variants of both traders and investors.

I don't know if there is any word known as Short term investors, I would have used the word for Traders. Traders are only present in the market for instant profits, whereas Investors are long term viewers of the market.
Most bitcoiners are  likely to get drowned this season because of price movement and greed. Those that are selling now should realise this is just the beginning, if you are selling now it should be a little but i don't see the need of selling this time and soon regret will kick into the market because of this panic sells and the failure to understand that price moves up and down in corrections, the main priority now should be accumulating, holding and buying more bitcoins.
Even though there is high temptation not to call traders investors, the reality is that they are actually investors because they invest their time and money with the hope of making profits. The only difference is in the nature and manner in which they go about the investment and what will likely be the outcome of their investment. Now that I realize that not all investors will make money because some investments can go bad as it is with even conventional investments, it becomes clearer that trading is an investment that can go south very fast.

Traders are actually short term investors as they target their profit within a short interval of time. Consequently, the risk in trading is compounded, the reason many people struggle to know that trading is actually investment or similarly to reckless gambling. Long term investment have always proven to be the way to peace of mind and reliable profiting, and many people are toeing that line.
234  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Stop paying money to learn trading when you can learn it yourself on: March 19, 2024, 07:18:36 AM
This might seem so true on the surface considering that Youtube is awash with various videos of all the possible trading technique anyone can ask for. The free materials are enough to equip anyone with the necessary skills that can make him a good trader but the challenge with the free materials are numerous. First, it is difficult to put together into a well defined learning process with a target. Secondly, there is very low level of commitment on free materials unlike materials that were paid for. Just imagine how people treasures what cost them money, that is exactly what happens with paid materials or mentorship. So while free materials are good to learn about trading, paid materials are more taken seriously and be extension, produces better results.
235  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does BTC mean to you? on: March 18, 2024, 10:11:36 PM
Once it is called investment, profit is the top priority, and when people have profit and money, they start to think of privacy and freedom.

Meanwhile, profit is the first thing they need and care about, but no one mentioned it at all, I find it very strange.
With all due respect, it seems that you are simply contradicting yourself. First you stated that "investment' has "profit" as top priority before talking about privacy and freedom.

Yes, people come to bitcoin for both but what I want to say is that I just see people always talking about the privacy, the freedom that bitcoin brings.
Second part of your statement above suggested you see people talk more of the privacy and the freedom and not the profits which you already agreed was the top priority. Is discussing price of Bitcoin not by extension, discussing the profits of investors? Fine, lets see the third part as captured below.

I rarely see people as actively talking about the benefits of bitcoin such as decentralization, privacy as we often discuss its price.
After admitting that people talk about privacy and freedom and not profits, why saying that people rarely talk about decentralization and "privacy"? Is this not speaking from both sides of your mouth. I have tried to make sense of your comment but the more I try, the more I realize you just typed them without bothering about the coherency of your statement, a good example of "work done equals zero" in thermodynamics.
236  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will You Fire Your Best Employee Who Is Addicted To Gambling ? on: March 18, 2024, 09:20:56 PM
If my employee become so reckless in his gambling that it gets to my attention, I will not actually be impressed with that but I'm very sure I will take my decision base on the following:
  • Is it affecting his discharge of duties?
  • Is it making him to bring bad reputation to my company?
  • Are there complaints of him breaking the law as a result of his gambling activities?

If none of the above come out positive, I don't have any reason to sack him, instead I can advice him to seek help in handling his addiction. As a gambler myself, I know what it means to be a gambling addict and I can offer such employer experience based advice which I'm sure will help a lot.
237  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: March 18, 2024, 03:46:54 PM
The reason why some investors fail while using the DCA is improper planning because I see no reason why an investor that have engaged in a lot of investment strategies would not know that before choosing to DCA they need a stable atmosphere that will not deprive them of their continuous accumulation therefore having a reliable source of income and possibly alternative means should in a case where the principal source isn't coming forth again, they can eventually fall back to the alternative means to still continue forwarding the DCA.
You are right! Why should a man go to DCA if his income is not right. A person can think of keeping his money in a safe place only when he has a consistent income arrangement. And if he is sitting in the gallery waiting for the bull run to break his target after buying Bitcoin on DIP, then he is living in a fool's kingdom.
You must not have consistent income before applying the DCA method. Even if you are contractor whose income comes only when you have a contract, @JayJuanGee explained in an earlier comment that such a person can still make projections with the bulk money received upon execution of a contract and should have already figured out, as an estimate, when he will likely have another contract or cashflow. For instance, if he receives lump sum of $10k upon completion of a contract and it happens that from past data he is sure able to secure contract 3-4 times per annum, he can set aside $3k from this amount for 3-4 months DCA, that is if the balance of $5k is able to meet his needs for the time period and also remain like $2k for emergency spending. The point is that DCA must not be applied by individuals with regular incomes, even those with incomes that are not regular can apply the DCA method.
238  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Prepare Your Children For Bitcoin Investment and Not for Government Jobs. on: March 18, 2024, 03:35:14 PM
I like this suggestion as it reminds me of wasted opportunities it has been doing some things we did as children and youths. The worst is the mindset we had which is go to school, graduate and get a job... this was the worst advice I received as an individual. It limited me and many others to just focusing on the academic work without expanding our thinking to other areas of life that would have yielded better results today. Assuming that I grew up not fixated on graduating and getting a job, perhaps I would have been better than I am today because as a student, I had access to little funds which if I had invested part of that into Bitcoin or at least saved them with the hope of starting up a business, that would have been better than waiting to graduate and start earning salary. This is not a form of regrets but just a personal reflection and with what I know now, I'm sure my children will do better than me.
239  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: March 17, 2024, 10:16:00 PM
Game between Inter and Napoli just started and I feel confidence to say that Napoli will play and is playing to win tonight because a draw or a defeat will do them no good. Also , this means we should have a great game with goals from each side but there is also a possibility for this game to actually be under 1.5 total goals... .

Inter Milan are expected to win this match. In the last two matches, Napoli weren't able to win and I expect them to lose this time also.
If Inter Milan could win this game then they will be ahead of the other teams by 16 points. Another four victories and they will be the winner of the scudetto.
Inter Milan did not disappoint the huge fan base they have been able to gather this present season as a result of their exceptional performance both home and away. The took the lead in first half and held on even until the 81st minute when  Juan Jesus said no by equalizing the goal making it a one all draw match. I don't think this is a bad result for them since they still retained their first position in the league table with 14 points ahead of their closes rival AC Milan. I doubt that Inter Milan is still under any pressures as regards to winning the Italian Serie A title, they can even lose as many matches as they possibly can with no fear  of losing the title because AC Milan is not doing as much as it is expected.

Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona

Atletico Madrid StartXI: 3-1-4-2

Jan Oblak; Axel Witsel; Reinildo Mandava; Stefan Savić; Pablo Barrios; Nahuel Molina; Marcos Llorente; Rodrigo de Paul; Samuel Lino; Álvaro Morata; Rodrigo Riquelme

Barcelona StartXI: 4-3-3

Marc-André ter Stegen; Jules Koundé; Ronald Araújo; Pau Cubarsí; Hector Fort; Sergi Roberto; Andreas Christensen; İlkay Gündoğan; Raphinha; Robert Lewandowski; João Félix

Laliga tough of the day. Let see what will happen.
Just like I expected it to be, the match is full of actions and entertainment. Although Barcelona took the lead from first half following Joao Felix's 38th minute easy goal and also opened the second half with a fantastic goal from Robert Lewandowski, Atletico Madrid also made several futile attempts at scoring too. The interesting thing tonight is that Barcelona is now playing without their head coach Xavi Hernadez who was issued a straight red card. A win for Barcelona tonight will officially see them crossing struggling Girona even though that will not give them a glimmer of hope at dreaming of taking the tile from Real Madrid who will be comfortably sitting 8 points ahead of them.
