221  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How to make choices in difficult times like this on: March 22, 2024, 10:51:06 PM
You can't tell someone how to make his ow choices. Everyone knows what's best for them and how it would affect them. Most time in difficulties situations we have to choose to what would affect us but help the another. This is what we call conscience. We don't have to be right all the time and we don't have to be wrong all the time as well. In my opinion i believe we should avoid the choice of planning evil for others. I know making choice in difficult times is not easy but that should push us to take difficult decisions then.
222  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Friends engaging on P2P gambling insights grudges amongst themselves on: March 22, 2024, 10:45:49 PM
If my friend suggest and insisted we bet on p2p together i won't deny him. I will only tell him that if he loses no going back from the bet. Also, i would want a third party to be there to be a witness before we start the bet so that he would hold whatever we used in placing the bet in escrow. This is because i have seen a situation were two persons gambled without a third party and at the end of the day the one who lost refused to give the winner the money that was staked. This led to serious fight at the end.

Now back to the topic, I won't want to gamble p2p with my friend when the suggestion is coming from me, I can't bring up such a suggestion. Meanwhile if the suggestion is coming from my friend i would participate.
223  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling addiction causes loss on: March 22, 2024, 10:25:11 PM
Advising someone in the throes of gambling addiction can be frustrating.  The addict's desperate hope of "winning back" lost money fuels a destructive cycle.  Logic and reason often fall on deaf ears.

The belief that an addict has to "hit rock bottom" before seeking help is a dangerous misconception.  Imagine someone spiraling deeper into debt, jeopardizing relationships, and losing control over their life before they're ready to change.  Early intervention is crucial.

While forcing someone into treatment might seem drastic, it can be a necessary step.  Imagine the difficult choice of intervening to save a loved one from self-destruction.  Compassionate intervention, coupled with professional addiction treatment, can be a lifeline.
You have spoken well. Most times the right decisions needed to be taken haste fully to avoid so serious damages that would be difficult to fix. Imagine in a situation where the gambler has gone so deep into gambling where even his own family is not taking looked out for. That stage the gambler has exceed a responsibly gambling stage.

I support your opinion that if we see any opportunity that we can stop a friend, brother or colleague that is slightly fallen into the shackles of gambling addiction we should take actions immediately. Although it would not be easy, but that gambler would thank you later in the future for helping him/her out earlier before they hurt the feelings of their relations or do some crazy things like selling properties to gamble.
224  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you won a bet with your last cash? on: March 22, 2024, 10:17:06 PM
I think majority of us here has one time or another, win some big money with our last cash. And it might not happen only once but many times for me. But if I have to look at, it just base on pure luck and nothing more.

It felt good to win and experience this kind of phenomena, but at the end of the end, looking back, it could have been part of how gamblers become addicted. You experienced the adrenaline rush and try to go and repeat that same experience again and again, IMHO.
Not all time were luck for me. There were times that i had so much conviction that it was the right bet to stake on. You know this certainty that this game would play that was what happened with me several times. And i felt like if i am wrong then i should lose it but i won the bet. Yes, wining in gambling is luck, but we should not forget that there is a level of experience a gambler would have that he would know what will occur in various event. By then he is now experienced and not relying always on luck.

Yeah, I have actually won a bet using my last cash back then in those days I was given betting much of my time, yeah, the feeling is so different from the other normal winning, and always looks like all the lost hope has come back to you when least expected, it comes with so much excitement like is the first time. It boost confidence and a certain level of fulfilment.
Alright, but would you had felt same way with so much of excitement if you had lost that last cash of yours using it to bet? Of course the answer would be a No. Maybe we should try losing at times with some gambling decisions we  make without recourse so that the consequence could ring a bell in our head that it wasn't worth it. It al starts with little things we regard as nothing for gambling to bigger things and that's when the addiction tension has grown big within us and that's how we see people ready to stake their house, cars and even land in gambling, it all starting from little things.
I've heard stuffs like don't estimate the little beginnings and that is true. Gambling at first is like planting a seed and with time this seed matures and the urge for us to start expecting fruits from it would be even greater. That is the point of addiction when the roots are solid in the ground. However, just lie you can cut off the tree when it does not grow how it was expected to so we can eliminate gambling from our life.
225  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Streamer's fan took his own life due to addiction on: March 19, 2024, 11:32:23 PM
The controversy stemmed from the fact that Adin Ross' editor, being completely apathetic to these news of a man taking his own life, called it "old news" in a dismissive tone.
They just don't care this should lead to fans not supporting this kind of streamer because he is not sensitive to this kind of issue, it is just money for this kind of streamer, and don't care about their audience.

Quote
Perhaps Kick should add some limits to how "controversial" a streamer can be in their platform. People like Ross were banned from twitch after maaany violations.

What do you think about this? Do such people deserve a platform even on Kick?

I'm not a big fan of streamers but the platforms should have strict guidelines when it comes to streamers promoting gambling platforms on their streams to avoid this kind of news that is disturbing they should partake of the responsibility.
I don't know why people are so quick to commit suicide when things just start going south. It changes nothing. And your right if i am a fan of a streaming club or podcast and i am not sensitive to these kinds of acts i will immediately quit watching and not just that they would lose a fan like me i will also tell my friends and people around me who will avoid such things in the future. Sometimes they should people things into consideration before taking such actions. I know how many persons have been affected by this.
226  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Stop gambling if you don’t have free time to do it on: March 19, 2024, 11:24:56 PM
There is no fun anymore when you over gamble. The fact that you maximize your time in gambling is not a good sign anymore since gambling is only intended just for pleasure and fun, and not to serve as an actual source of income wherein you give a lot of time just to get your desired profits. When you are seeing yourself gambling this way, then you should get worried immediately since there is more chances to lose if you take gambling seriously. It’s intended to bring us fun, not to make us worry and discomfort.

That's why more people become addicted to it and if you don't have any knowledge of what you are about to become it's better to avoid it in total because when you are already there, there's only a low possibility that you can stop what you are doing but most of the time people always fall into categories of addictions where they can't seem to recover quickly rather they think of it all day and look for some other resources in order to fund their addictions over and over again until there's nothing left with them. that's why if only they could stop it soon, it wouldn't end like that.
Obviously too much of everything is bad. When you start at first, it is more like having fun before you know you start having constant fun and then addictions come in when you can do without doing such things. That is how it happens in gambling. Addictions start from stage to stage and before you know one is totally addicted, without knowing he/she is addicted.

One thing i dislike about addictions is the lack of awareness of the gambler. You will still feel like you're having a fun while gambling but you do not know that you have lost all self-awareness and you're in lack of control of how you are gambling.
227  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The madness of gambling addicts. on: March 19, 2024, 06:27:54 PM
Right, and it has to be a good therapist, not just someone taking this position. Ask people around for recommendations, or maybe google about a psychoanalytic professional in your area who has a reputation for successfully treating gambling addiction.
Ask yourself the true question, if you're an addict, are you ready to quit? No it's never going to be enough because we're humans and desperate for more profits. ~

Are you sure about that? I know several guys who, would lough at those words. Maybe they are desperate but not about profits, that is for sure. Some of them want to be loved, others want to improve their health, and I know couple of guys that want to discover a cure for cancer, and not because of the potential profits, I can assure you.

Wanting to win big through gambling is not a bad thing in my opinion but loosing your head because of that is.
I agree with you. It is not good to completely judge everyone that wants to big in gambling as addict or gambling madness. There are several reasons why people get high expectation in gambling pushing them to either bet for a long time or continuing gambling when they are supposed to quit. Yes, may would see it as greed but i don't.

Many are in pressing need of that money, either to pay school fees, health, or start a business. Most times it is just that one-time big need and after that they would quit. Although a onetime gambler is a continues gambler.
228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Solana memecoin is trending on twitter.. on: March 19, 2024, 05:58:49 PM
Recently, there's been excitement in the Solana ecosystem, mainly due to the impressive rise of memecoins. We've seen the likes of BOME, SNAP, and today, SLERF is performing well. There have been promising announcements regarding cex adoption, with platforms like Bitget, MEXC, and OKX all joining in. SLERF has already achieved a market capitalization of 400 million in just a few hours. The hype is crazy. Are you holding any?
It doesn't take long to build memecoins so this is just one of those hype memecoins and am not triggered about it. Perhaps the fact that SOL has been doing so well before and after the upward price movement, Obsessed investors seem to have gotten so interested and launched the memecoin. In my opinion i think the time has passed to buy memecoin. It is nothing but pump and dump so let's be careful. Unless we are willing to lose if it eventually happens. But for me i can't take the risk.

I also believe memecoin is not for everyone. There must be a level of finance you must have before you will have the guts to risk your money around memecoin. Altcoins are risky but memecoins are riskier to invest in. I can't sleep at night if have my investment in memeocin lol
229  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: March 19, 2024, 04:57:32 PM
Anyone else hear about that? I wonder do they fear that the market could fall even further?
Yes i did. Let me put it this way. Not only bitcoin is being hold in the ETF they have various assets like the MSTR which has significant potential as Bitcoin. What actually happens is that money were gradually swapped from pure Bitcoin to ETF holdings. The plan was to take small profit by closing the market in a short while, perhaps they delayed that is what may have cause the bitcoin market to see some crash while the MSTR gets high. It would be a bad idea if the ETF buy high now becuase it will affect the market to dip more and more after the mistake were made. Although it wont go below 60k for now.

230  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: The causes of hunger in Nigeria on: March 18, 2024, 07:26:12 AM
It's so unfortunate to see that a common man cannot longer afford food to eat in Nigeria, a country that is well known for agriculture and high level of cultural heritage. I think the root causes suffering, food insecurity and unsustainable development include: poverty, corruption, incompetent leadership, regional insecurity, tribalism, region differences, national policies that do not promote equal access to food for all, environmental degradation, barriers to trade, insufficient agricultural development, population growth, low levels of education, social and economic instability.
Let me tell you something OP, i don't know who advised you to join the forum. He did well but truly it is not about creating topics all over the LB. I see that in less than a week you have created more than topics of which majority are off topics. If you are continuing doing this, you may end up entering the list of shit posters which you will get tagged. Be creative and not formulative. I think there is a thread that talks about that. It is not about creating or saying anything that comes to your head. What you should ask yourself is it educative, is the opinion helpful or is it worth discussing to provide help. We want to learn and explore new and beautiful things here and not sit and discuss what's happening in our local houses or in the street.

Makus is trying to help you, but you don't want to listen. It is for your own good. Best you lock the thread before anyone reports you if not you will face the same consequences as others who default it as well.
231  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Is meme risk worth the reward? on: March 18, 2024, 07:19:16 AM
1.How do you spot these memecoins quickly?
Let me put this straight. I get notified by the centralized exchanges I am using to trade my meme coin even before they get listed. When the notifications come, I do my own private research on these meme coin to know if I will invest when they get listed there.

2.For someone like me who doesn't use dex, which cex is the best for listing early trending memes?
The best exchange to see new and legit meme coins is Kucoin and ByBit. For now, they are the best.

3. Is the reward worth more than the risk?
Obviously, the reward is way better than the risk if you invest in a good altcoin. Most times after listing we tend to see an increase in the price before it corrects back to the actual listing price. But sometimes the prices fall a little but with time it skyrocket. And it is important to DYOR so that you won't fall for pump and dump altcoins.
232  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Killing of Army officers in Delta State on: March 18, 2024, 07:10:23 AM
Investigation should be done properly. This is because when it comes to political affairs and communal crisis. There are people who are in charge to control the youth in the political level. It may be the chief or one title holder. Manipulating the youth, luring them to take actions. What i try to understand is that the youth cannot just go and kill police officers. Someone in high office initiated that plan and used the youth to execute it. What more, we all know he funded them, gave them assurance of peace bla bla bla.

The deed has been done, may their soul rest in peace. It just surprises me because i almost thought all these killings are over, I felt that the main reason for death should be one trying to work hard, or hunger don't know people have the strength to go and kill other persons. It will be very difficult for Nigerians to change.
233  Economy / Economics / Re: Isn't it all about money? on: March 18, 2024, 06:56:43 AM
If someone has done hard work of course they will be able to get results from what they have done and it is very unlikely that someone who has tried as hard as possible cannot produce anything from what they have done and maybe there are some people who have tried but they still experience failure in what they do and there are also some people who stop trying and there are also those who continue to work by improving their failures and being able to achieve the success they got.

You are right, everyone will of course choose a project that is profitable for them and they of course have a good understanding of the project so they will be very confident in the project that they will be able to get profits that will give them an income.

I think everyone must get a fruitful outcomes for their hardwork and there is no one who work hard but left empty handed because they must attain something special for their work at certain stage of life.

But their are also some individuals who work hard but they don't learn from their mistakes and do not improve their skills so they are not achieving the results according to their hardwork. Project selection play an important role in your success so if you are really a hardworker but your choice is not good and do not search before entering then you are not working hard but you are just wasting your energy.
To some extent working hard will help and give you good result but there will be a point in time one needs to switch and start putting less effort but will get more result. It's just planning it right. At the first stage of growing there will be more efforts because it is starting from the bottom. When it reaches to some certain level, bringing more people to help put those efforts reduces the level of hard work and maximize efficiency in whatever we are doing.

However, there is no hard work that gets unpaid. Unless the individual has been working on something that has little visions. I like putting my efforts on big goals so that when its starts paying off it would be huge.

Yes I do think it is all about money. It is because of that why I am even on here right now. We all learned about Bitcoin so we can make profit from it.
We have to go through a process if we want money. We do not just get to have money only if we are lucky and are from wealthy families. But we must do that process.
You are saying the same thing here. The end point is to make money, you may not have started whatever you're doing with the mindset of making money, later on your perspective changes and you feel that you have needs, you need to pay your medical bills, house rent, and feeding. Then you start using that your skill or maybe something you do for fun to make money. It all ends up making money. Investing, trading is to maximise our income.
234  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you believe in savings or investment on: March 17, 2024, 10:31:05 PM
I never know what the future will be like, whether it will be better than the current life or even more difficult. Because currently we are faced with economic conditions that are full of uncertainty, which makes me quite pessimistic that tomorrow's economic conditions will be better than the previous day.
And to anticipate all the things we don't expect in the days to come. And even though the income I earn is limited, I always try to set aside a little of the income I earn to fulfill the savings and investments I make. Because this is an important thing that I have to do to answer future problems. because for me, both savings and investment are two important things that I must have. So as long as I still have health and the opportunity to continue earning money, I will try to earn as much money as possible in order to increase the amount of savings and investments I make. Because if I don't realize these two things (having savings and investment), then both now and in the future, I might still be in trouble.
Sounds like someone who understands life to some extent. Life is unpredictable you never can know what will elevate you from the financial level we are now. Whether savings or investment. I treat both equally and see them as something that is necessary to every man and woman. If we see that investment will work for us, then we should go into investment. Still, it doesn't stop us from savings once i a while. The little savings we make today can save us in the future.

If we decide to do both i feel more of our earning should be put into investment. For instance, a person earn 100$ a month, in my opinion, it is wise that 30% should be put into investment then 20% should be put into savings then the remaining percentage can be used to cover the other monthly expenses. In this way we can grow and become successful.
235  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I've projected my holding after this bull run. what's yours? on: March 17, 2024, 10:16:12 PM
I'm just here to ask you all especially those who are newly investors to this bitcoin investment platform like me that WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH YOUR FIRST INVESTED FUNDS AFTER THE BULL RUN?
When I was in school it was difficult for me to pay my tuition fees and take good care of myself. What I will do with my funds when they mature s I will sponsor three undergraduate tuition fees for 2 years so that they will not face similar challenges and do some crazy stuff i did when i was in school to make money. Also, I will share my knowledge of bitcoin investment to graduates who do not have anything doing at the movement. But it will be to those who are willing to learn and have the spirit to continue.
236  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2023/24 Season on: March 17, 2024, 08:57:17 PM
Honestly, Liverpool doesn't have that much of a tough team to play at the league neither, if they went unbeaten from here on out for the rest of the season nobody could say that it would be impossible to happen.

I am not saying that's exactly what will happen, they may get a draw or a loss somewhere but it would not be expected. They are not playing City, they are not playing Arsenal, and at the europa, they are not playing any big name UCL type of team neither, there aren't that many teams that should be able to beat them. So all in all, we are going to end up with a situation that has to be a lot more difficult, it is going to be a tough one without a doubt and could cause a lot of trouble for a lot of people at the end of the situation.
The reason why your saying Liverpool are not tough in this competition is because of the problem of so many injured players. I understand that so well, because with the absence of quality players there isn't going to be a good performance. We all saw what happened today between Liverpool and Manchester United. Liverpool were weak, giving Manchester United quality opportunities to shoot at their goal. I was expecting when they took the lead 1:2 they would hold it till the game end but they failed. Klopp was really disappointed, he couldn't talk to the interviewer after the end of the march he just told him  you look too plenty(fat) and left.
237  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Stop gambling if you don’t have free time to do it on: March 17, 2024, 08:39:27 PM
Gambling is just entertainment and entertainment is not our main priority, duties and responsibilities are the main things we have to complete. And of course, when we are faced with tasks and obligations that must be carried out, sometimes this makes us a little stressed and makes us feel quite depressed. However, it is not a good idea if you intend to relieve stress and depression by gambling, because gambling is full of uncertainty and if at the end of the game you lose. So, instead of these activities making us feel happy and a little relieved, they can actually make us even more stressed and depressed. This could make us unfocused when we return to work.

And when we don't have enough free time to gamble, it would be wiser if we skip gambling activities and focus more on completing our tasks and obligations. In other words, we can only gamble after we fulfill and complete the duties and obligations that we carry out.
Maybe it is better you don't generalize gambling as entertainment. It is for you but not to some persons. There are people who see gambling as their full time job. They earn from it. Even to the extent of taking good care of their family. Of course you cant tell someone like this to be gambling only in the weekend or quick gambling. It will be everyday he gambles, doing his job and taking care of his responsibility.

I know we may feel its stupid making gambling a full time job. But i have seen and am speaking from the experience of people have seen. I thought it was really crazy earning a living from gambling as a full time job, yet it happens. Would you in anyway love to be a full time gambler if you were good in it?
238  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever done something crazy to bet? on: March 17, 2024, 08:31:14 PM
You just reminded me of my school days in the university. I do gamble with cards to meet my needs in school. In my lodge are filled with student who love gambling so much. The craziest part is that i quit going to lectures, what i do is that the money i make from betting in cards i used some to settle some things i did not do in school while i use the rest to bet more throughout the day.

Another crazy thing i did again, was when i used my tuition fee given to me by my parents to gamble. I gambled till it remained 20% of the money. I saw that there is no use for that money again so i went all in with that amount and funny enough i won. Things we did when growing up is crazy you know!
239  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Our newbies de ternish Nigeria, image too much for main boards on: March 16, 2024, 09:18:32 PM
This is the third of this thread in just few weeks. I did against this type of thread in the past because I knew we may be posting about something like this in new threads continuously and it is happening. I am not against giving your own opinion on the threads you people are referring to but no need of creating new thread about it.
Yes i could remember when you said that if something is going wrong in our country shouldn't or be wise for us to share it and express our pain. I dont see at as a bad idea but it should be done in our local board and not outside our board. We are not the only country going through economical problems but we take our own too extreme and let these white folks look down on us like we are worthless. And that is one main reason why if a reputation against any member of our board is brought up there wont be no delay to take actions without hearing from the parties. We have shown our weaknesses and they now feed on them using it against us. Let us avoid creating thread about our country outside this board i am not in support of it.

Are you are that speaking our pidgin language is now offence, its now seen that we are the same person when our writing in pidgin seems the same. Seems they now know our pidgin more than us. How can someone say they have been studying our pidgin so he can now judge nigerians based on our pidgin? So crazy abi?
240  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can you stake on a potential(obvious) loosing team just for love? on: March 16, 2024, 09:05:51 PM
What ill make clear for you OP is there is no passion in betting. My younger brother plays 8 ball pool, most times he face some tough opponent and i do bet against him because i feel they would win. Always understand that familiarity, blood and love should not be considered in gambling. If you are to take any hard choice let it be that your taking a very high risk and you are aware of it, sometimes it works for us.

By now the answer should be clear. I wont bet on an odd that would most likely not enter for me. I bet my money on an odd with higher probability.
