+1 for extremely fast shipping

and a request for eldentyrells 3rd party firmware.

+1 to both of these

I love how all these noobs are ordering these things and trying to mine when there is no bitstream available.. YET!

EDIT: on a side note.. cant wait till there is a stream avail.. will def be ordering

Atleast I have my board set up and waiting now. A working bitstream will be ready in a couple of days. Have fun waiting til October for shipping... Smiley

Im happy for you!  By October hopefully everything will be up to par and hashing at full speed.. in the mean time I got my gpus and a a few ztex hashing right now to keep me happy until then. Grin

And you too. I'm sure it will be Smiley I have faith in Enterpoint and don't mind waiting a couple of days extra for a basic stream.

Did you guys request the early dev boards? Also, do you have a jtag cable?

No and no ;P

I just preordered and being asked by enterpoint if I want 1 board. They only got 50 to ship. So.. I said - sure I want 1 board. That's all.
Now, I have 1 board and at the moment it's a better paperweight for me =oD

But installing ISE atm and then i will try to get the icarus bitstream at it..

But i'm a newbie at all this, so i don't know if that will work and how ;P

Then you missed the part where they said the early boards were for people comfortable with doing exactly what you need to do to get it working right now.

No need to be elitist man...

Maybe he is comfortable and just doesn't know where to start? I contacted them and they said they were releasing the cgminer extensions and other software either tonight or tomorrow to get things going.

I really have no idea how i get the icarus bitstream (only 2 of 4 cores) to work with that piece of hardware.

Is there any step by step howto to get this baby hashing at the moment?

Thanks to yohan and his team, this board looks really professional!

I'd really like to know this also.

I'm getting 4 orange lights on the FPGAs and 1 red flashing light.

I assume I need to wait for a bitstream update or drivers?

When I tried it on Windows it just said no driver found and cgminer wouldn't detect it.

Tried it on my Raspberry Pi too, didn't detect it either.

Any help would be great!

No, I just pre-ordered really early.

And no because the USB programmer should be working now, just no software is available yet by the looks of things.

Officially just received my board today Smiley

Can't wait to try it out when I get home!

Thanks to yohan and the rest of the team at Enterpoint!

GPUMAX is a nice service, but I'm not gonna use it until there's a EU server, preferably one in the UK for me. Getting too many rejects at the moment with 150ms ping to the GPUMAX servers.

Also, GPUMAX appears to be currently down, getting DDoSed perhaps? Same with eligius I think

Interesting idea. I'm curious about the reliability of the permanant backup storage.

Subed!

Has anyone had the opportunity to try this on one of Enerpoint's fpga units yet?

Enterpoint is still working on getting a basic bitstream working first. Only a few developers have boards at the moment. This will come later
232  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Algorithmically placed FPGA miner: 245MH/s/chip and still rising on: June 01, 2012, 03:17:44 PM
Things change.
One of the next upcoming changes is a huge difficulty spike and FPGAa becoming irrelevant because of ASICs. I'm pretty sure that eldentyrell is going to make LESS from this scheme than if he sold it outright. But we will see.

Personally I'm hoping/speculating that that won't be for atleast another year yet.
233  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Sparten6's on P2Pool using a RaspberryPi? on: June 01, 2012, 01:25:23 PM
I'm working on it at the moment.

I'll let you know when I receive my FPGAs.

Hopefully it's powerful enough to run P2Pool.

I dislike the approach of a perpetual transaction based relationship.

The profit potential of this is too big (if BFL doesn't take too many operations)

I sense greed.

Well it is essentially "free"... And don't forget tricone-mining has to maintain the signing servers as well.

What would you prefer? A monthly license for 0.25BTC? I know I'd pay that. Because that's the equivilant you're paying for using the bitstream at the moment.

He/she/they have obviously put a lot of work into this and no-one is forcing you to use it.

I sense greed in you nedbert9, if anyone. (no offense intended)

Any updates on the status of built-in USB programming and the packaging situation yet? Smiley

Regards

PS good to see you're looking at possible bitstream enhancements for future

Yohan,

Any thoughts on using the newly released http://www.tricone-mining.com bitstream in the future?

(I understand that currently the most important priority is just getting the basics working first but thought I'd flag it up for you as something to look at)

It can apparently reach 315Mh/s - typical is around 270Mh/s (which is incredibly impressive). It uses a signcryption commission system, which equates to donating ~5% of the chips hashrate to tricone-mining, but the bitstream itself is free.

Regards

"Outright difficult" ::= "the most difficult thing you've ever done in your life"

Speaking of which, isn't Eldentyrell's bitstream due sometime today / tomorrow?

According to the following website - yes.

Update

Ok first units are out. The first few days will be a very slow build up so a little patience is required. We are aiming for most units to ship with at least with at least in-built programming if not some level of bitstream so we will take 1 or 2 days to try and get that right. This also happens to tie up with our proper packaging that arrives hopefully on Friday.

Hi Yohan.

I got the email for the early shipment of the board, but I was wondering. If these boards are already shipping, without yet having a working bitstream or in-built programming option, does this mean I will have to purchase a JTAG programming cable to reprogram the boards once the bitstream is released?

Or will the shipping of them be postponed til Friday with the proper packaging and (hopefully) in-built programming and/or working bitstream?

Thanks and keep up the great work

I placed an order for a MiniRig just 2 weeks back. Talk about timing  Roll Eyes

2 weeks? try 2 days Tongue (not BFL products though)

watching...

Great work keeping everyone so well informed yohan! Enterpoint is really doing an excellent job so far with Cairnsmore1 and showing other FPGA producers how it should be done professionally!

Even if these FPGAs offered less MHash/$£, I'd still buy them from Enterpoint over the competitors products any day, solely on the support you've given the community on the development process so far...

Yohan does a great job ! To be fair, some competitors work alone or in a very small team. That leaves not much time for frequent updates. I own products of 3 different manufactors and all of them have been very helpful.

That's true. Some competitors who work alone with ngzhang do provide excellent support as well considering. I just really appreciate the highy detailed updates and keeping the community in the development loop. Some of the competitors who work in teams (whom shall not be named) have abysmal track records and could learn a lot from enterpoint.

Would you mind naming those competitors? Just wondering if you're talking about FPGA Mining LLC, since we work in a team. If you are, what was the problem?

I wouldn't worry about it Tongue

No, not you Smiley
