221  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-09-01] Bitcoin continues record price run as Ethereum nears $400 on: September 01, 2017, 08:09:23 PM
Bitcoin’s price has surged to a new record-breaking high of $4,890, as the price of rival currency ethereum climbed up to just below $400.

The volatile cryptocurrency’s record-breaking run has continued, with its value soaring above $4,700 for the first time on August 29.

Bitcoin's price has fluctuated closely to a previous high of $,4,522 for much of August and even slumped back to below $4,000 on August 22.

But what next? A Goldman Sachs investment banker predicted the price of bitcoin would continue to rise in a recent note to clients.

“Whether or not you believe in the merit of investing in cryptocurrencies (you know who you are), real dollars are at work here and warrant watching,” the report said.

However, Sheba Jafari, a technical strategist at Goldman Sachs, warned the bubble could burst and the price could eventually fall back to below $3,000.

But Aaron Lasher, co-founder of Breadwallet, is more optimistic - he predicts the value of bitcoin will keep on rising over the next five years.

“Are cryptos in a bubble? Yes, absolutely,” he told MarketWatch. “Is that a bad thing? Not necessarily.

“The long-term trend is up, however, so past bubbles look less impressive in the rearview mirror.

“Do I know how high this bubble will go? Will I be selling any bitcoin before, during, or after the bubble? No.”

Meanwhile, the price of ethereum, the rising star of the cryptocurrency world, has risen to a high of $394.32.

The price rise of bitcoin, litecoin and ethereum puts the overall value of the cryptocurrency market at record $170bn, coindesk reports.

They add the price of bitcoin is now up more than 350 per cent this year.

222  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-09-01] Bitcoin Is Getting Crazy Close to Breaking the $5,000 Mark on: September 01, 2017, 08:07:43 PM
Will it ever stop?
Cryptocurrency bitcoin reached yet another all-time high on Friday of $4,890, capping a surge in value of about 80% over the course of a month.
Bitcoin's rise comes despite concerns that the cryptocurrency could split into two come November, forming a so-called "hard fork." In November, an upgrade to bitcoin’s underlying software is expected to speed up transactions by increasing how many it can process at once. The bitcoin network is expected to do so by accepting an increased block size of two megabytes. But some miners aren't on board with the update, and if they decide against making the change in November, bitcoin could effectively form two separate currencies.
It's not entirely clear why bitcoin has continued its climb, though hype around the cryptocurrency's seemingly inexorable rise may play a role in how miners think of the coin. Meanwhile, the cryptocurrency has also become something of a "safe haven" asset — an asset that's expected to stay relatively stable in times of uncertainty — as tensions between North Korea and the West escalate. TenX co-founder Julian Hosp said in a recent interview that many of the company's bitcoin users are based in areas with potentially unstable governments in Africa and South America.
Some bitcoin advocates also expect bitcoin to continue its upward trajectory because it is a scarce resource. Only about 21 million bitcoins can be mined. So far, about 16 million have already been accounted for. In a recent Twitter post, noted bitcoin bull Charlie Shrem said the top of the market is still far off.

The price of ethereum, meanwhile ,also surged to an all-time high of $287.88 on Friday.

223  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-09-01] Bitcoin hits $4,800 for the first time on: September 01, 2017, 08:06:12 PM
The cryptocurrency on Friday crossed $4,800 for the first time. It's up 1.48% near $4,837 a coin as trade grinds higher for the eighth time in the past nine sessions.

The record high to start September follows an eventful August that saw bitcoin split in two and receive a software upgrade.

On August 1, a fork in the cryptocurrency split it into bitcoin and bitcoin cash. Since that day, bitcoin is up about 74% while bitcoin cash has doubled to $600 from its original print of $300.

But that wasn't the only major news in August. Developers introduced a new software called Segregated Witness, or SegWit. "SegWit is a clever solution that essentially increases transaction capacity," Aaron Lasher, the chief marketing officer of Breadwallet, a bitcoin technology company, told Business Insider.

Following the implementation of SegWit, Arthur Hayes, the CEO of BitMEX, a bitcoin derivative exchange, told Business Insider, "With Segwit implemented, I believe $5,000 bitcoin is within striking distance."

But not everyone thinks it's going to get there.

Sheba Jafari, the head of technical strategy at Goldman Sachs, thinks bitcoin is close to a top. In a note to clients, Jafari suggested bitcoin would climb as high as $4,827 before correcting, meaning, in her mind, it's fully valued.

Bitcoin is up 390% this year.

231  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The time is WWIII, what are our Bitcoin Doomsday Preppers doing? on: August 28, 2017, 10:44:17 AM
If WWIII is unavoidable:

Buy as many guns as you can and form a group of people with the same ideal as you, then take all you need from people that didn't did the same you as.

Bitcoin will be useless just like cash and gold, because you can't eat cash or metals
232  Economy / Speculation / Re: predection prices bitcoin for the coming days on: August 28, 2017, 10:41:36 AM
For the coming days?

Nothing going happen for the next few days(1 week at least).

But of course things are more violent as action is delayed.

What do you guys think?  Will the Gunners get into panic mode and try to get a better manager?  I know two names who could be perfect for the job.

Thomas Tuchel and Luis Enrique.

239  Economy / Speculation / Re: Segwit helping BTC on: August 28, 2017, 06:27:44 AM
Or maybe the question isn't why LTC went from $4 to the moon, but why it went to $4 at all?
240  Economy / Speculation / Re: Legendary Bitcoin Trader “masterluc” Predicts $15,000 Bitcoin This Year on: August 28, 2017, 06:21:34 AM
If the price more than quadrupled this year, why not another jump less than 3x higher?
