221  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Accepting Bitcoin on eCommerce site? on: February 01, 2012, 01:10:04 AM
Is there a payment processor (just like PayPal) that lets my eCommerce site accept BitCoin payment and gives me US$ or any other "real" money?

I am not looking for a plugin or program to do that (but I am still happy about pointers in that direction), I am looking for a all-in-one solution. Basically just like setting up PayPal or Credit Card for my web site, so that the customer can pay in BitCoin through my site, and once the transaction is done my account shows a credit of X BitCoin or Y USD equivalent (daily course basically).

I hope I didn't describe what I am looking for too complicated. Basically all I want to do is accept BitCoin, but without the "hassle" of having BitCoin and them having to take care of selling them for money frequently, monitoring the exchange value, etc etc... (I understand that this is very easy, but unfortunately I'd need cash as soon as possible in order to pay bills etc).

I am pleased to announce that our full fledged of E-commerce solutions will be announce VERY Shortly! The idea will be here is to be as transparent for both merchants and buyer as possible either online or... IRL.
And the good news is that fees involve in these solution will be rather... appealing to say the least!
222  Other / Off-topic / Re: Beware of MTgox Yubikey on: January 31, 2012, 09:01:36 AM
I purchased a yubikey and it stopped working 2 weeks after I got it. Now I can't access my account. The only way they will unlock my account is to mail it back. It's 90 bucks to mail it back to japan, and if it should get lost in the mail or misplaced on there end I will never get access to my accounts again. Not to mention bitcoin has dropped 20% in value since I've been locked account of my account. Total loss is in the hundreds already. Not exactly a security feature.

Hi, we are sorry to hear about your Yubikey problem, I have actually mine all day long since day one in my pocket alongside my keys and it never failed me once. What I would like to suggest you is to send the Yubikey by regular mail it will be shipper for you and will take normally a week or so. Once we got your Yubikey we will send you a new one at not cost for you using our EMS Service.
Also as soon as we ship the Yubikey to you, you will be able to access your account until you bet your Yubikey back.

Regards

224  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: does MtGox's streaming API update more quickly than polling via HTTP? on: January 31, 2012, 01:59:32 AM
MtGox's API documentation says that all data, including market depth, is cached every 10 seconds.  This means that you can't find out about changes to the market depth more often than that.

They also have a socket.io API documented here:

  https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/MtGox/API#Streaming_API

Does the socket.io API only return results when the cache is updated (in which case there's really no advantage to using it unless you're writing code stuck in a browser), or does the socket.io API return order book changes more-or-less as they happen?

Thanks,

Hi. Socket.io is realtime, but still under Beta explaining some of the problem you may have. However we are working on this and hope to offer a more "stable" solution.
225  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Missing Mt. Gox BTC Withdrawals - Abysmal Customer Support on: January 30, 2012, 06:17:49 AM
Has anyone else found a solution to getting Mt.Gox to respond to these scenarios?

Hi jlkershner

One of my colleague take over your support ticket and now everything should be in order by now. We are sorry for the delay in our response, and I am sure that my colleague explained you the reason for that.

Cheers

2. Verified Status (Level 1)
Copy of a Valid ID and Proof of residence (Utility bill...)
Do I understand correctly that "verified" status does not require an apostille?

The original post in this thread made it seem like the new requirements apply also for "verified", which I think is what most of the negative reaction came from.

For the kind of company that requires "trusted" status, the trouble of getting an apostille is trivial.

You are correct, the Level 1 does not required an apostille. Our first announcement was actually more targeted for Level 2, sorry for the confusion
By the way, I think the clarifications you have made throughout this thread are important, and should be visible in a more prominent location, such as the OP. Not everyone is going to wade through several pages of discussion.

We will make this more visible Soon.
227  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: [ANN] Changes to AML Policies - Mt.Gox on: January 27, 2012, 07:55:28 AM
These limits seem pretty reasonable considering the amounts of money involved. I'll probably never even approach Level 1 myself.

But I do have a question. You state "public shared IP" causing Level 1 identity check. But it's very common for people to have dynamic IPs for their home service. Mine changes roughly every day pretty consistently. But I do have a web server for my business with a Fixed IP that never changes. So in this case I'd be better to use a secure proxy on that server to access MtGox as it would keep my IP consistent and the same. Do you actually capture user IPs that carefully or is a typical user going to be fine accessing from within the same IP block typical of a service provider? IP tracking seems frought with difficulties. I could see checking IPs against known bad lists and maybe Tor nodes as a more useful form of monitoring.

In your case you are safe, however if more than one account is accessed from the same IP this will mostly trigger an AML verification.

229  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: [ANN] Changes to AML Policies - Mt.Gox on: January 27, 2012, 07:20:58 AM
Hi everyone.

We’ve had a strong reaction regarding the policy change to our AML verification process. One which we expected and honestly, understand. We would like to clarify a few things regarding this matter and to make sure that everyone is aware of who needs to own a verified account and what does such account offers.

As for today, using Mt.Gox does not require you to own a verified account, and everyone is free to trade with us and exchange Bitcoins within however certain boundaries.

The AML levels we employ are as follows:

1. No verification needed (Level 0)
Being “level 0” has the following limits: A maximum monthly withdrawal of 10,000 USD (or equivalent) capped to a maximum of 1,000 USD per 24 hrs and a 400 BTC withdrawal per 24 hrs without any monthly limit.

“Level 0” is designed for basic users, consumers and Bitcoin enthusiasts where the 10,000 USD monthly cap is enough for most needs.

2. Verified Status (Level 1)
Copy of a Valid ID and Proof of residence (Utility bill...)

Being “verified” has the following limits: A maximum monthly withdrawal of 50,000 USD (or equivalent) capped to a maximum of 10,000 USD per 24 hrs and a 4,000 BTC withdrawal per 24 hrs without any monthly limit.

The verified status is designed for active traders and/or small companies.

3. “Trusted” Status (Level 2)
A Notarized and Apostilled copy of a valid photo ID and Proof of residence. Companies are also required to send a notarized copy of their certificate of incorporation/registration, identity & address verification of shareholders entitles to 10% or more in voting rights, company constitution or articles of memorandum and a copy of Trust Deed for the Trust involved as part of shareholders. Please note that all document required in “level 2” must be sent by priority mail.

Being “trusted” has the following limits: A maximum monthly withdrawal of 500,000 USD (or equivalent) capped to a maximum of 100,000 USD per 24 hrs and a 40,000 BTC withdrawal per 24hrs without any monthly limit.

The “trusted” status is designed for day traders, professionals, and companies.

Please note that any suspicious activities can trigger a level 1 AML request from our side, resulting in the blocking transfers temporarily until the owner of the flagged account can prove their identity.

Also please note that using services like TOR or any public networks where more than one user have a shared IP address(Public school, University...) will automatically trigger an level 1 AML request from our side; this is in order to make sure that you are the owner of the account you are trying to access.

Once again, this AML system that has been put in place in order to not only protect Mt.Gox from fraudulent activities but also to ultimately protect you and your assets.

That said, to make everyone’s life easier and to make our services more user friendly, we are actively looking for simpler and less intrusive ways of verifying people’s identity.

The importance of being licensed

The AML requirements that we employ is really just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Mt.Gox being licensed; we are indeed working on being fully licensed in several countries to ensure we can continue to do business. Us being licensed will also offer our customers peace of mind when it comes to us holding funds and personal information.

Finally, we all have a part to play here if we want to see Bitcoin succeed as a viable international medium of exchange.  We are doing our best to balance our responsibilities to the financial authorities, while taking into account the needs of our customers.
230  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do Europeans deposit/withdraw into Mt. Gox? on: January 27, 2012, 02:45:29 AM

But both are not working at the moment according to MtGox support. Had an open issue with MtGox support last week and finally diverted to another exchange.

Paxum and International wire are the best choice at this point in your case. We are currently looking for other alternative as well.

Mt.Gox Support, kindly state whether this is the case or not for you receiving wire funds in Japan as there is no indication on the deposit $ instructions page on your site atm & as I just sent you a large amount today please respond accurately & urgently as I have had issues with your service in the past which I expected you to have permanently resolved by now, many thanks

also anyone else recently wired funds to them I'd appreciate any feedback please

I can confirm that ALL international deposit to the JAPANESE or HONG-KONG Branch are GOOD to go, if you have any question or worries, make sure to contact us via the ticket page that we can check this further.

Hi, could you please give me your ticket number that I can check this with my colleagues because this is not true, both works perfectly even as for today. However due to Chinese New Year some D/W has been delayed with HSBC.

And please remember that we have SEPA - Euro Transfer available as well in our deposit page.

But once again, everything works just fine.
232  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do Europeans deposit/withdraw into Mt. Gox? on: January 26, 2012, 07:31:01 AM
If it's not possible, do they use a different service?  If so, which one?

Paxum and International wire are the best choice at this point in your case. We are currently looking for other alternative as well.

Cheers
233  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MtGox - after ~7 days still waiting for (international wired) funds to show up on: January 24, 2012, 02:32:28 AM
Hi Mat

Sorry to hear that you have some delays with your transfer but this may due to many different things including local Public Holidays on our hands, difference in Currency (Sending EUR to a USD account for example), Add the actual Chinese New Year... and this may, I said may explain why you are having some issues here.
This said, make sure to open a ticket if you did not already did it, that we can check this further.

Cheers
234  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MTGOX: enable SEPA withdraw on: January 20, 2012, 08:16:15 AM
Have you guys seen the new AML policy they have? I'm already verified but new verified applicants are required to send some type of 3rd party verified documents, it's totally ridiculous. I've been very patient with Mt. Gox but I think it's becoming more and more difficult for casual and honest users to do anything at Mt. Gox.

It might be that they can't really do much about it, they are the biggest exchange and thus under the biggest pressures legally. But regardless of the reason, we are forced to start using the smaller exchanges and services more. This is actually healthy for Bitcoin, we need more distribution.

It's honestly about time they started doing this.  It's pretty standard everywhere else that when you can't directly sight ID documents the copies must be notarised by someone authorised to do so.

At some point it seems inevitable that they will need to verify the identities of all of their customers.  The smaller exchanges might be able to go a bit longer without coming under the same pressure from their financial institutions, but people really need to understand that the exchanges can't remain in business if their accounts are always at risk of being frozen.  If one of the main things they can do to minimise that risk is toughen up the verification requirements for their users, then they're going to do that - doing anything else would put both user funds and their own business at unacceptable risk.

Thank you for understanding the situation...
235  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: [ANN] Changes to AML Policies - Mt.Gox on: January 19, 2012, 10:13:59 AM
Thank you all for your comments and concerned, there are indeed some very good points that has been raised here, and we will make sure to check all of them to make your life easier. This said, you have to understand that we are all doing this for good reasons and not just to bother you guys (do you think we really like having to check anyone IDs?), and what's going on right now at MtGox regarding our change in AML policies is to protect you, our honest users!

And don't get me wrong here, but what we are going through will be forced upon other exchanges sooner or later regardless of their location with all the financial burden tied around them.

Once again we are aware that some of these changes may not always please everyone, but they are here for the best and for the overall acceptance of Bitcoin as a viable, honest, and trustworthy medium of exchange that all governments, regardless of their political orientation, will understand and respect. We, and here I mean us the Bitcoin enthusiast and community, have to work our way to make this happen, and the only way right now is to comply with some basic rules that are forced upon us on a daily basis to win this battle and then impose our own rules (The Bitcoin Community rules) and change how things will be done in the future.

If unfortunately, I cannot disclose everything, but as we discussed with some of you at CES, we MtGox are working to make things right, and this take time as well as a lot of money and effort, so yes we may appear to be slow on some stuff our rough on others, but we are working for you and the community, not against you.

Spread the word, Spread the Love, Enjoy Bitcoins!
236  Economy / Trading Discussion / [ANN] Changes to AML Policies - Mt.Gox on: January 18, 2012, 07:54:03 AM
Due to a increased amount of forged documents being received by our AML department, we will be adding extra provisions to our AML requirements starting immediately(*).
Going forward:

  • Your notarization must include the wording “Notarization for the purpose of verifying on MtGox.com”
  • Notarization alone will not suffice; we need an Apostille. Notaries can do this in most countries (please see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apostille_convention)

Please be advised that documents received without the above may not be accepted as valid account approval documentation.

Thank you for your cooperation.

The Mt.Gox Team

(*) : In practice we're going to give 1-2 days leeway (based on the date of notarization).

238  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MTGOX - SEPA transfers takes 7 business days on: December 20, 2011, 01:13:42 AM
I received it today! So as a info: Mt.Gox SEPA transfer == 7 days

Yes and no, it really depends on who things are handled by banks, sometimes if could go much faster than 4 days, sometimes, and this depending of the country you are sending from and the country you are sending to, it could be due to overflow of work, public holidays... Many things but 4 days could be considered as an average. Anyway we are working on more SEPA solutions to make things faster for you all.
239  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MtGox Troubles on: December 20, 2011, 01:10:29 AM
I have, had $1k stolen from my MtGox account (via BTC withdrawals).  I will never use them again and I recommend others use an exchange with better security.  MtGox is responsible for the great BTC crash and I can guarantee you it will happen again, and everyone will lose a shit load of money again.

I think you'll be hacked again.  Roll Eyes

Seeing how you don't seem to want to learn from your own mistakes and not having taken all security measure possible for you such as yubikey, it seems likely.. Just saying..

So, what was the fundamental mistake msin made?  Do you expect people to obtain a physical key before creating an account?  Just curious.

We are working on other alternatives to Yubikeys that provide the same amount of security at no cost for users. Meanwhile, we have given away many Yubikeys to people already and there are still some free codes around and we are expecting to give some more until other solutions are made available (Jan - Feb).

As for MSIN mistakes we cannot really tell here what's what, please understand that this is in order to protect both MSIN and others from anyone to find out what he (they) did wrong. But and this is good for anyone and everywhere not only on Mt.Gox : Make sure to have a STRONG password, do not uses Password generated on website you do not trust or do not know well enough, use a single password for EACH major sensitive websites you visits, be careful with Phishing website, have an up to date Anti Virus, have separate email accounts for separate sensitives website and if you uses hosted mail services like Gmail make sure to be in SSL and that your Gmail password is strong as well...
