Every pool gets variance.
222  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: BITMAIN Antminer S3 support and OverClocking thread on: September 07, 2014, 06:31:38 AM
Miningrigrentals.com

anyone renting your S3's here? I can't get mine to connect to their service and was hoping for some guidance. There are some available to rent on the site so I know it is possible.

They have like IRC support and also ticket system.
Go to their IRC channel from the account page and your problem will be fixed instantly.
Also whats your actual issues in connecting the S3 to MRR?

I posted the same question earlier and contacted IRC support with no luck.

Did you come up with anything? It has been about 2 weeks since I tried.

I rent mine through MRR. maybe you are not patient enough, took a few hours to show up once set

224  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: September 05, 2014, 08:26:13 PM
Does anyone know what were the stress tests on Trezor? If it'll be the way of secure pending of the future, it'd better take lots of button pressings . :-)

million of button presses + high durability against dust and electricity discharge. not waterproof.

...but some are beerproof as long as it's plugged in.
225  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: CoinTerra announces its first ASIC - Hash-Rate greater than 500 GH/s on: September 05, 2014, 06:35:11 AM
holy shit! they are still alive over there. today they finally came out with a new firmware since March

Worked fine on win7 64bit for me.
But I never tried the USB cable it came with.

difficulty dropping? I don't see it unless BTC to USD drops to $200.00 or less.
what I do see is another 40,000 TerraHashes being applied before the next adjustment

have to consider the fact, each time the difficulty goes up the low "baller hashers" will just stop and try to sell off their old miners no one wants which i think falls about 25% of the total hashing.

price dropping and difficulty goes up i see a lot of lower end hashers just stopping, in return is good for the rest of us Smiley

if only that could be true... difficulty hasn't dropped in years
229  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [5000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: September 01, 2014, 10:39:10 PM
The best way I get through bitcoins and its dropping and rising price is.   Look at Bitcoins like the stock market.  You could invest $1000 into Bitcoins and you will either make double that or you will loose it all.      Sometimes it will make you a millionaire, sometimes it will make you broke.

It will always drop,  but it will always shoot through the roof again.

It's all about patience.   Just keep mining away and save your bitcoins untill the price rockets again and then sell then sell them.

You win some, you loose some.

You spend money to make money.   Thats key.  You will never make money if you dont spend any money.

difficulty is predicited to drop back to 23 maybe 18.   in the next couple weeks.

I also predict the price per bitcoin shooting through the roof either in a few months, or early 2015.

I for one am keeping my miners online collecting profiit.
Thanks

seems BoP is a bit behind when I have a confirmation on a transaction on blockchain.info but not confirmed on myTrezor for over ten minutes. https://blockchain.info/address/1BAJuPdo2CSqVQxSreFNmi4cp9DYtZ3akb
edit: 7 confirmations on blockchain.info and none on MyTrezor.com
231  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: August 26, 2014, 08:17:18 PM
It looks like mytrezor got fixed, but the transaction that was stuck in my wallet, did get sent and I already sent it from different wallet, so I am out a $100. UGH

I will be updating my negative trust rating feedback accordingly.

You don't know how to confirm a transaction on the blockchain?
Maybe you should learn before you use
232  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: August 26, 2014, 05:59:00 AM
Just testing my new Trezor to better understand it.  I sent myself 50 mBTC.  Then I sent 15 mBTC to another address in my Armory account.  On the blockchain, I can see that the 15 mBTC went to the right address, and it looks like the change went to a different address.  On my Trezor, the account shows the right amount (35 mBTC), but I can't find that change address anywhere.  Where is it?  How do I keep track of exactly which addresses have what amounts of BTC?  Or am I not supposed to?

Also, is there a tutorial anywhere on how to interpret the BIP32 Path: m/44'/0'/0'/0/1 data?

Thanks

I don't really ever keep track of any loose change addresses...just the addresses that hold the main amount of BTC.  I think that is one of the whole points of the trezor though, so you don't have to keep track of any addresses, they are all just sitting there conveniently on the web browser when you go to mytrezor.com

this is how a wallet is supposed to work. you guys do know that an address is not a wallet right? but that a wallet is made up of many addresses.
if you need to see the address of your change, from MyTrezor website click the little info link next to the transaction.
233  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: August 25, 2014, 04:07:41 AM
Hey guys, when you have updated firmware on your Trezor, has it asked you every time for the recovery seed?   I don't recall mine asking...

no because I updated it before I used it, it kinda made me
234  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: August 24, 2014, 05:00:53 AM
New question that I don't think I've seen before:

When I buy a 2nd Trezor (in black, when available  Wink), if I use my same Recovery Seed and multi-passphrase to make a clone of my White Trezor, will they stay synced?

My intuition tells me that any transactions made on either Trezor (in any order) will immediately be synced up when the other Trezor is plugged in to the online computer through myTrezor.com.  This seems logical to me since the same heirarchical / deterministic addresses and keys are created in both.  The only thing I'm not sure about is when I request a new address on one (say the White one), will a signed transaction to the blockchain be recognized when I plug in the other one (Black)?

Basic question: Is it safe to make two identical Trezors? (Same: device label, recovery seeds, multi-passphrases, PIN)

Thanks!

of course it is. this is how you restore your lost or broken trezor.

Sometimes I worry about the environmental impact caused by mining.

I think it's up to us to lessen the impact on the environment...and as mining operations get more massive, I foresee solar, wind, and
hydro generation as a necessity.  In fact, that will fast become the most profitable kind of mining operation because you're not only
mining bitcoin, but also electricity, which will mean in the future bitcoin mining operations will probably be closely linked with energy
generation as a matter of necessity.

In this way, I'd say Bitcoin is a hell of a lot greener than oil, and inspires progress in "green" technology, rather than raping our planet
for it.

Good post from a forward thinking individual.

Is there something wrong with the pool today?  Huh

Because we found very few blocks? I think it's called variance.
237  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: August 23, 2014, 06:08:09 AM
question for somebody with knowledge of trezor.
If I shared my 24 word recovery seed, what would the odds be of anyone finding out which 34 character passphrase had any funds on it?

This one has no good answer. If your passphrase is "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" then it is quite simple to find your funds. If it is something like "516sd5ghfAFAF/*/523*&^*GDY786hgu76sa8*^&" then it is more difficult. You can use this site to find out: https://www-ssl.intel.com/content/www/us/en/forms/passwordwin.html

But the bigger problem is that, sharing your seed, you open a possibility to a hacker (keylogger) attack on your account. The attacker does not have to guess your password. He can try to catch you entering it.

thanks for the answer

Hello Everyone!  I'm a newbie here, I've been mining for about a week and a half, and I've got to say it's been a BLAST!   Wish I'd found this sooner!   Slush Pool it my first and only pool so far!   Yesterday was great, today not so.  But I guess that's the rollercoaster we're all on.

Anyway, looking forward to learning and having fun!

if its learning you want, take a week and read this entire thread and you will know all there is to know about bitcoin mining.
