221  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Luck and skill, which is more important for gambling success? on: November 12, 2023, 05:20:40 PM
I have the believe that success in gambling requires a mixture of luck and skill. This is opposed to some people that believe that gambling is entirely a game of luck and others who believe it is entirely a game of skill.

So I am tempted to inquire if skill is all that is needed to be successful in gambling or luck. Whichever be the option, which of them is the most important factor for gambling success?

Is there really a skill that can applied to luck-based gambling games? Even how professional the gambler is, every spin attempt or bet attempt at these luck-based games are totally random making your winning chance 50/50. You really need to stake a higher amount here to also have a chance to win big as relying only on huge multipliers with the use small bet won't bring you that far in most of the cases.

The skill that can applied in gambling is thru strategy-based gambling games or if you are a sports enthusiast physically. Example you sre good in billiard, card games, basketball and so on, you can use your skill there to compete with each other.

That's was some of the world famous name in sports got started before turning a professional athlete.
222  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cash out or keep playing? on: November 12, 2023, 04:21:43 PM
Just 5 minutes ago, I won some money, it's not that big but I was able to run my capital into like x6-x7, and I do agree, I have that mentality to continue to play. However, I resists that temptation and just decided to withdraw the money and cash it out and never go back again. I'm just thinking that it's already a big win for me, just a couple minutes of playing and then I was just lucky that time and won big already. But I will say that it's really hard, because I already think of withdrawing and suddenly decided to bet twice again and fortunately I won. But then again, I know that my luck might stop, so I think again fight my emotions and withdraw and quit the game and just go back here in the community.

Good for you then. I admit whenever I'm in that same situation, it's a tough choice for me to continue or not since I want to take advantage more of my luck. Hard to stop when luck is there since we are all waiting for that. However, I'm not totally dumb to just continue without any caution on the way. It's like I'm challenging myself to fight the temptation of gambling more.

In most cases, whenever on a big win, I tend to sacrifice at least 30% of my winnings on that particular session.

It works for me generally but there are times that I really can't fight the temptation and most gamblers will understand that feeling.
223  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hot take: Your crypto portfolio should have more than just Bitcoin. on: November 09, 2023, 08:21:15 PM
As long as a person understands very well how to manage several cryptos at the same time, then they are good to go.

There are lots of altcoins around and choosing what those should be included in our portfolio is not an easy thing to do. Yes, we have these well-established altcoins but the selection shouldn't just be limited to how well these coins are established right now. There are lots of factors to consider and our criteria for choosing will be based on how far we know everything in that said altcoin.

Diversification is always a good thing to consider but without proper management, a failed portfolio will be the result even how good those coins are.
224  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Most you have ever lost in one session? on: November 09, 2023, 07:00:07 PM
What is the most money you have ever lost in one session? could be land base casino or crypto casino.

mine was $200,000 on Stake.com 2 weeks ago

I remember only around Php 15,000 (currently @ US$268) and played it for almost the entire day. It was tiring and my eyes were really itchy. There are lots of wins established in that session but instead of cashing out, the eagerness to continue playing emerges more as why should I stop if I feel lucky. In the end, the result is a bitter loss.

It took me around 2-3 days to move on with only that amount compared to OP which is $200,000. Crazy amount of loss in just a single day.

I wondered, how much you get on Stake's weekly bonus with that amount as for sure the wagered amount you made that day is also high.
225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Whatever happens, hold on to your Bitcoin. on: November 09, 2023, 06:37:47 PM
There have been bull run without Bitcoin ETF and there will always be bull run even if the ETF is rejected. So even when the market temporarily nosedives if the ETF is rejected, do not panic. Once again, hold on to your Bitcoin and do not panic.

Got the point there but generally, that statement is only applicable to those who really have that eagerness to just sit and idle their bitcoins for the long term and not to those who day person who regularly do trades or those called day traders.

Any news, even how small or big news is, it plays a big role in the decision-making of these day traders.

Of course, if the plan is to just hold no matter what, then any news is being ignored.
226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Getting losses, Take a break and just focus on Bitcoin. on: November 09, 2023, 06:19:38 PM
And I suggest that if it starts again, it's best to just play Bitcoin and don't play with too many different types or play too many altcoins. I know that sometimes altcoins are able to provide greater profits than bitcoin when bitcoin experiences a 10 percent increase, but altcoins are also able to provide greater losses.

It's good that you made an attempt to calm your friend and stop him from a possible loss in the process.

However, experience is experience. It's fine to advise your friend to focus only on Bitcoin but if he's really up to the challenge of playing with other altcoins, the better suggestion would be, to learn from all of his losing experience. Future trading is really tough to handle and dealing with the emotion is critical here but that's the challenge there.

Don't stop your friend if he wants to bounce back again on playing with different altcoins. Instead, give him encouragement and feed him with knowledge and good pointers such as recommending a good altcoin, trading tips, sharing your strategy as well, and many more.
227  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What impact does the BTC price have on your gambling habits? on: November 09, 2023, 05:46:33 PM
What impact does the BTC price have on your play (gambling both in casino/sports betting/binary options etc)?

Did you play more? Did you play less? Any thought or opinion on that?

Regardless of the BTC price, it won't affect nor have any impact on my gambling habit.

If playing on a crypto-gambling platform, in most cases, there's a feature where currency can be shown in fiat value. Therefore, you can control your bet on a fixed fiat amount whatever the current exchange rate to crypto is. Besides, gambling is gambling and I believe for most crypto-gamblers, BTC price is not really a big deal.

We have noticeably seen an increase in crypto-gamblers over a period of time. That growth alone is enough reason to believe that fluctuations in crypto price don't matter for most gamblers, either beginners, casual, average, or hardcore ones.
228  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's the best advice or should I just let him on: November 05, 2023, 11:57:48 PM
Should I give him advice on how to manage his gambling activities or I just let him since he is just enjoying his senior years and doing things that he missed doing when he was still young? and what's the right approach, we all know senior citizens are sensitive to criticism.

I don't know what's the big deal there. Why not just enjoy your talks without being advanced thinking about what will happen in the future?

He should have more knowledge of you dealing with gambling addiction. Since that old man is your newly moved neighbor you didn't even know how long he's been into on that gambling activity. It's not that he will turn his gambling habit into addiction or maybe he was already there before.

Just listen to his story whenever engaged with each other. Don't interfere with how should he manage his gambling habit.
229  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever been a gambling addict? on: November 05, 2023, 11:49:43 PM
I see a lot of people here talking about gambling responsibly. Yes, that is something very true, but have you ever been a gambling addict?

I believe in myself, yes. I came to the point that I even do gambling all day long for several weeks or months. It's something that I always want to do and always make it to the point that I spend lots of money just to do gambling to satisfy my addiction. I can't control myself to minimize that addiction.

But I will say that I'm responsible in terms of attitude and behavior.

Even though I gambled a lot and admitted to being really addicted, I never came to the point where I was at my worst and a bullshit person. I'm still in myself outside of my gambling activity and do my real-life responsibilities without a problem.
230  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: November 05, 2023, 11:23:25 PM
Here's the full criteria.

Quote
The criteria used since the 2022–23 PBA season are as follows:[1]

45% average statistical points
30% press and media votes
25% players' votes

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PBA_Most_Valuable_Player_Award

If I'm not mistaken, that article is outdated. We are not sure of the percentage.

Aside from that, the PBA's Commissioner's Office is also part of the voting criteria. We should see the percentage for each though.

Season 47 is the basis of the recent MVP award and Fajardo played 46 games there where he puts his best stats after being injured for long.
231  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you guys believe in other people luck and try to copy them? on: November 05, 2023, 11:11:47 PM
Of course in here it is not about skill or luck games anymore but it is about destiny,so tell me how many of you are deceived by dreams that may change your destiny like I am  Grin?

It will just create an expectation. Better bet on your usual and just try to win. These high multipliers by doing several parlays are really exciting to see especially if you are thinking that you will get those. But no, it's still luck and not destiny as you are referring to.

Just enjoy sports betting without expecting too much to win those insane multipliers like x700 and so on.

Not bad at all to copy others' bets. If that's effective on you then just continue doing it.
232  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should Casinos Sponsor Sites That Deals With Gambling Addiction on: November 05, 2023, 11:06:04 PM
I'm just curious and would like to get the consensus of the community, should casinos sponsor sites that deal with gambling addiction and cure, we can't deny that the gambling addiction percentage is very high in this generation,

It's good but not that necessary since gambling sites shouldn't be the ones to blame for gambler's addiction.

Gambling sites don't need to fully help gamblers with addiction because that is something that should always be the responsibility of the gamblers.

These sites are businesses. They will just put the Gambling Responsibility tab on their site as usual.
233  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Nigerians spend $975m daily on online betting on: November 04, 2023, 11:58:47 PM
if large number of people are spending this much on betting, can we say that they relied on gambling to survive?

We can only associate the term survive if these people are actually winning but we know the odds of winning in lotteries or any gambling form.

It should be, the large number of people there are relying on gambling on their dream to escape poverty and become rich.

But look, these people even have a budget for gambling. We can assume they are really eaten by the thinking that gambling is the only way to become rich.
234  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Out of curiosity, how much you wagered recently? on: November 04, 2023, 11:52:50 PM
I saw people wagering a lot of money, but this guy took it to some higher levels... How can we compete in some wagering wars and competitions against players who wager so much? Do we even have a chance? Smiley

Since the beginning of my gambling career, I have never even shown interest in joining a wagering competition leaderboard.

The reasons are:
- we don't know if we are against a real gambler and not a bot,
- there are lots of big rollers in a gambling platform

I just spend time doing and focusing on wagering if I'm taking part in bonuses and promotions.
235  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Conclusion after losing millions! that games are rigged. on: November 04, 2023, 11:45:33 PM
what do you think about this? are games which are played by computers are rigged? don't answer like we play for fun, we are responsible, we are bitcoiner we know to verify bets, etc.

If we talk about popular casinos and game providers, I won't say they are rigged after all. It's just that these players are not fortunate in that particular session and do not accept the fact that even if they feel that luck is not on their side, they still continue to gamble.

It's common to see gamblers blaming casino games are rigged just because they lose most of the time.

Gambling is a game of risks. Why expect to win most of the time? It's not called gambling anymore if the win rate chance can be determined.
236  Local / Pilipinas / Re: bakit dapat mong maintindihan at wag matakot sa dip on: November 04, 2023, 11:39:42 PM

237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you rather make your investments in FIAT or CRYPTO? on: November 04, 2023, 11:29:05 PM
The crypto market has an high level of volatility, anyone who is about to make an investment need to have a good understanding of the volatile market. Now the question is even with the volatility will you still choose crypto over fiat when it comes to making investments?

Why choose? There's no such thing as "rather" where in the first place we can take advantage of both.

It depends on how far you understand the risks if you tend to choose either fiat or crypto. There's no easy road to success. Dealing with the volatility is the challenge in crypto. While in fiat, dealing with inflation should be the priority.

Like any other investment, it should be well-planned from the start, and understanding the basics is necessary before engaging.
238  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Dangerous chasing losses on: October 29, 2023, 09:53:54 PM
If the result is the other way around, I understand the real feeling lol.

Been through a lot of chasing losses experiences and what a relief if in the end, successfully managed to recover all those losses in that particular session. To tell you honestly, it's really hard to sleep after that big effort pushing to recover from the loss and nothing good happened at the end.

What a nice effort done by OP and that was tough work. It's not just about the money but the long period of time spent to recover those loses.
239  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambler avoiding friends after a big win. on: October 29, 2023, 08:24:07 PM
From their conversation it was obvious that they were a circle of close three friends that gamble together.

This is the problem to some people especially when just a passerby listening to a conversation between two people, being assuming.

How come you conclude right away that those people involved are CLOSED to each other and best friends? Since you don't know the real story behind their conversation, it doesn't make sense to judge the winner as that was surely a personal issue.

Next time, let's not only look at one side of the coin. The winner was judged quickly on this topic without getting its side.
240  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think if you have a lot of money its hard to satisfy your ego in gambling on: October 29, 2023, 08:08:29 PM
What do you think, if I have millions I will be satisfied betting thousands of dollars for fear of addiction that will lead to losing my fortune, but I really don't know if I will reach that level of having millions and still be moderate in gambling.

We can only answer that once we reach that level. For now, our response is based on what we think without the actual experience.

As I said on another thread, gamblers' satisfaction has no limit regardless if they are newbie, casual, or professional whales.

The advantage though of having millions is, that these whales or high rollers are not pressured much since they have lots of ammo in their pocket. With that kind of large bankroll, they can play and last for a long period and might also have big wins on the way.
