The whole thing boils down to this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musean_hypernumber

Basically it means an attempt to make the number spaces R, C, Q, O compatible.
Complex number: 1 + i2 = 0
Quaternion: 1 + i2 +j2 + k2 = 0
Octonion: 1 + i2 +j2 + k2 + l2 + m2 + n2 + o2 = 0

Problem is the thing isn't established in math at all an generally viewed as esoteric mumbo-jumbo since nobody has demonstrated that it works outside such brain-fucks as "proving god".
As usual when you research these things and follow them to their origin not much remains from the initial fascination.

You know your math very well. Thanks for all this reading material. Smiley

I haven't really, I'm not in academia either, although I aim to, some day.

There also is this guy: https://www.youtube.com/user/sweetser
He attempted to actually do the things these guys just dream about, albeit he had a recent setback in his work I still enjoy his videos.

What was the setback? Is there something demonstrably wrong about Hypernumbers?

If the universe started with a single consciousness, logically, we would be parts of that consciousness. Some say that would make us god himself.

This is has been recognized in the esoteric parts of Kabbalistic Judaism for awhile now but telling the people that they are indeed god himself will not work out so well for people in power. It may demonstrate what true equality actually is.

Lel, the market just brushed that off like a minor case of fleas.

RIP Proudhon

Ummm.  somebody set us up the bomb.

Just an equalizer that will become irrelevant once the banks open.

Proudhon is such a greedy bear. :p See you at 20!

We may have a short-term reversal in BTC/USD coming soon... watch this last candlestick spiking up to $16.5/BTC... if it turns into a short bar with a long wick that suggests a powerful reversal coming, and MACD appears to be near its peak... I expect BTC to trend down for several days, as the whales shake out the crowd... once everyone is sufficiently scared and we're back near support (est. $13-ish level) they'll buy all the coins back at a bargain before the next leg up...

In any case, can't wait to see how it plays out!  Cool

These indicators are more useful in liquid markets: Not analyzing stagnant trades for a fringe currency at night and after a weekend.

i'm just watching with baited breath for the next stable point... the rocket is a great ride, sure. but we all know it'll peak and drop down some.

also, what's driving this? aside from the Avalon asic shipping announcement, i'm not aware of any news that would drive such a spike.

$200k purchase at 2am UTC.

It's a reason unto itself.
229  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: January 21, 2013, 09:30:15 AM
is it allowed to post rocket pix here?

The effects of this will be unprecedented.

The carrying capacity of the earth is not static. Technological advancements continually expand it. We aren't living in a glass bottle, but a rubber balloon.

+1

On that one, I'm fully with Myrkul !

Technology can bring the carrying capacity of the earth well beyond we think possible.
You had me right up to here.

The monetary system and corrupted values that it promotes make the actual "beleived carying capacity" !
Now, when you say "monetary system," do you mean the debt-as-money the world runs on now, or sound money, as well?

Capitalism puts breaks on technological advancement, and whitout those outdated-capitalist constraint, we could have 100x more effectiver solar panel, lab grown meat that is exactly the same as the actual meat we eat, cure for cancer... etc..
Capitalism drives progress. Every time capitalism is suppressed, progress is stagnated.

Remove $ and we can more than double the carrying capacity of the earth.  We are not short on space to live, we are short on food and energy, because of the $ system.
Could you please explain how money limits food and energy artificially?

I agree, that technology can increase the carrying capacity of the earth. But that is in fact my point -- technology has (and may continue to) increase the carrying capacity of the earth.

But technology requires energy. For example take some supercomplex cryptography algorithm where brute force is written off because solving it would take more energy than exists in the solar system. It's like that. How can we use technology to solve the world's ills when there is not enough energy to apply that technology all over the world? There are going to be serious issues even if we transition to solar right now, because it costs more energy to build a solar panel using today's technology that will be realized by said solar panel in it's lifetime. The reason why it feels cheap now, is because of the reliance on fossil fuels which are a diminishing resource.

I don't know how to solve this problem.

You increase the productional output of one watt of electricity. You make things more efficient.

I wonder where the price is generated from, maybe some exchange sites? It's a myth to me so far.

233  Other / Politics & Society / Re: On the morning of Sandy Hook, CNN aired footage of an “active-shooter drill”? on: January 20, 2013, 09:05:43 AM
Alright, this is just starting to get ridiculous.
In what way?
234  Other / Politics & Society / On the morning of Sandy Hook, CNN aired footage of an “active-shooter drill”? on: January 20, 2013, 08:27:54 AM
Apparently, this is not to say Sandy Hook didn't happen but that 1.4 miles away from the Sandy Hook shooting, as it took place, there was an “active-shooter drill” conducted at the St. Rose Pre School.

This is the footage (in reasonable question) of St. Rose Pre School that was shown live on CNN during the shooting.

Why would CNN show footage of this drill? While at the same time covering Sandy Hook and not revealing this was not Sandy Hook at all? Why was this drill happening in the first place and with such coincidence? Interesting set of events.

How can the people defend their other rights without the 2nd amendment? How can they enforce the restrictions and duties of their government without it?
236  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you believe in Reincarnation? on: January 19, 2013, 06:55:33 PM
In the end, assuming an infinite universe, our consciousness will pop up again. It may as well be through reincarnation.

In an infinite universe, one  can imagine some individual out there with the exact same brain structure as yours, right down to every synapse, and thus every memory, which means they would feel like what it is to be you. But does that mean you get to experience their life going forward?
Well, this experience, this consciousnesses exists at this moment. What is preventing it from existing in the future?

Nothing, I suppose.

But my point is: imagine there are exactly two of you in this Universe. Each of you feels the exact same thing do to the exact same brain wiring and environment. You feel like him. He feels like you. But let's presume that your lives split off into different experiences going forward. For example, you burn your finger on the stove, and he meets a beautiful woman. At this point, it should become clear that you weren't him, nor were you really experiencing his life.
True, there will be a duality. I concede your point.

238  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Mega can accept Bitcoins. on: January 19, 2013, 06:39:14 PM
All we have to do is convince one of the various resellers to take it or start a reseller who does.

This is possible, right?
239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kim Dotcom Mansion: Press conference 2013-01-19 GMT on: January 19, 2013, 06:33:01 PM
I checked all the resellers on https://mega.co.nz/#resellers
all they accept are credit cards (Visa, Master, Discover, Diner, some other) and Paypal. No mention of Bitcoin Sad
Well, couldn't somebody who accepts bitcoins become a reseller?  Cool
240  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you believe in Reincarnation? on: January 19, 2013, 06:27:12 PM
Energy cannot be destroyed. It can only change forms. I assume this applies to consciousness as well including the matter we live in. Matter has been thought to be of fractals which is just energy. Turn that energy to its purest, distilled form and we end up with a soup that some may consider god.

In the end, assuming an infinite universe, our consciousness will pop up again. It may as well be through reincarnation.
