221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 6 card rx 580 rig only shows 4 cards. any idea's on: December 25, 2017, 03:19:30 AM
Yes 16000 and 32000. I have remove the asus cards and just was going to do 4 cards. So I setup it up from 1-4 slots. loaded windows only showed 2 cards. Moved the cards rom 2 and 3 down to 5 and 6 and now showing 4 cards again. for some reason slots 2 and 3 do not like cards installed there. that's the problem I'm not sure what the fix is. Maybe the gaming m3 can't load cards in those slots. the m5 loves 6 cards been running 30 days no problem. same with the sli plus model.

Change all PCIe slots to Gen 1
Enable Above 4G Decoding in the BIOS
222  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can't mine any close to whattomine says on: December 25, 2017, 03:18:23 AM
Should I drop the profit switcher and only mine the same coins afor a weeks, PIRL + LBRY has been pretty profitable for a while now.

You have it figured out.
223  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: HP Proliant with 5pci 8x Issue on: December 24, 2017, 05:03:12 AM
well iunno how you managed to plug in the little usb riser into the slot, considering its  PCI slot and NOT a pci express slot. those servers are useless as far as gpus go. do you really not know the difference? well if you did you prolly wouldn't be posting here like a noob and one that doesn't even know what a pci express slot looks like

@CryptoWatcher420 Those arent PCI slots, they are PCIe, they look a little different from regular desktop PCIe slots but look where the slit is on the slot. Also, he isnt using risers, he is plugging cards in directly.
@TSZunami98 It could be an issue of insufficient PCIe lanes, or lane configuration on the server motherboard. See if you can get into the bios and change settings, to classify PCIe lanes, assign 1x to the 8x ports instead, that should free up sufficient lanes to run upto 4 cards hopefully. Also test these with risers, to see if the electrically reduced 1x PCIe risers can help in running multiple cards.
224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [GUIDE][TUTORIAL][XMR,ETH,ETN]How To Mod Bios RX470/570/480/580 VEGA Mining 💰 on: December 21, 2017, 01:05:11 PM
Hi everyone,

Finally took the risk and flashed the bios of my XFX RX 470 RS (4GB, Single Fan edition) setting the straps to the 1500 Mhz setting.

This card has Hynix H5GC4H24AJR chips, and pretty much the default timings.

So anyway, after setting all 1500 Mhz and above to the "7770..." straps, i rebooted the card and everything works and right now I also overclocked the memory to 1795 Mhz from the default of 1750 Mhz and everything seems to work fine. (right now monitoring to see if I get gpu errors and may try to go up to 1900 mhz on memory later)

Claymore reports an average hash rate of 18.5-19 mh/s - the highest value I've seen was 19.055 mh/s.. it's a small step up from around 17.5..18.3 mh/s before the changes.

So my questions..

1. I'd like to hear your opinion on this, is it a normal hash rate for the current DAG #159 ? All the hash rates I found for this RX 470 are a few months old, so i'm not sure i'm doing something wrong or the complexity simply increased in the meantime
2. Compared to ethminer, claymore is faster for me but every 5-10 seconds mouse lags a bit and videos also freeze for half a second or so every once in a while in MPC-HC (Media Player Classic Home Cinema), in Youtube movies plays fine. Will playing with the -ethi or -dcri parameters have some effect and if so, which one should I focus on? (right now they're on their defaults of 8 and 30)
3. How much increasing the power limit matters for this card? Will higher power limit give more power to memory as well, or it's just about gpu core?  Right now I set it on +10% power limit, but i don't see any noticeable power increase in gpu-z or the card running any different (frequency i left stock 1226 mhz)

Thanks to everyone answering..

edit : Oh, i forgot to mention.. I'm still on Windows 7 64bit and with older Catalyst 17.7.2 ... but somehow i doubt the latest driver would have significant improvements for this card.

1) Overclock memory to at-least 1825
2) Switch to the 17.11.1 drivers, the performance difference is significant
225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Would it be any problem if I ignore this at the boot? on: December 21, 2017, 07:48:54 AM
Hi,

I installed the AMD blockchain driver, both GPUs were shown in the Device Manager as RX 580.

I noticed that after booting Windows 10, both GPUs are OFF. Fans not spinning and GPU lights are OFF. Still both GPUs are shown in the Device Manager.

Please let me  know whats the issue? Is that related to that warning about powering 4-pin to motherboard?

Regards,

Rizwan

Fans being off does not mean the GPU is off. Most GPU fans wont spin up till they cross a threshold temperature, usually 60C.
226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Mining OS] SimpleMining.net - Easy to use GPU MINING Operating System on: December 19, 2017, 08:36:07 AM
Seems to me noob's these days are feelin more and more entitled. SMoS is not a team, it is one person. Also, the crappy B250 board is yet to support more than 13 GPU's, Asus promised a BIOS update but it hasn't arrived yet.
So I wonder what it is that you feel SMoS isnt supporting? Can you get more than 13 to work in Windows? Or some other flavor of linux? Cause SMoS supports the maximum GPU/Motherboard combos of any linux based OOB mining OS.
It is the cleanest easiest to use unified Mining OS that I have ever used, and I have used them ALL (except perhaps Eliovp's PandaminerOS).

ASUS gave update few days ago. You obviously didn't use HIVE OS for example, which btw rules. SMOS is 1 person? he makes all that money and he can't hire at least 2-3 more devs? somebody is cheap! no wonder people are not satisfied with this OS anymore, he can't produce all those updates by himself.
Miners need and must have all the latest updates such as dstm miner because we depend on those improvements to make money. If you don't support it someone else will --> Hive OS.

Continued support is paramount, agreed, but Tytanik hasn't failed us yet. Since he is a one man show, it takes a short while for updates, especially if they're needed to support some new/obscure combo of hardware that not many people may be using, but they do come out eventually.
Asus gave a general bios update, still no update to fix support for 19 GPU's. Also HiveOS is good, but does not work on 3 of my wide variety of motherboards while SMoS does, so I cant give it full points.
I want them both to succeed because competition in the mining OS market is good for us, the consumers.
227  Local / Mining (India) / Re: Ethereum / ZCash Miners in Bangalore - Here is how you get started with Mining on: December 19, 2017, 06:47:09 AM
Hey guys I just built mining rig in Bangalore....I do not know when I reach ROI Tongue ... here's my specs

6 x 1070 Geforce G1 gaming rev 2.0 GPU
MSI Z270-A Pro motherboard
6 x Riser cables
Kingston 128 SSD
4GB Ram
1000 Watt Crosair  PSU

Total around 2.8 Laks

I've a problem here., I can mine with only 5 GPUs...when I connect 6th GPU however windows detect all 6.. but when I start claymore I get CUDA Error...

Can someone help me with this please.

Thanks

Happy AltCoin Mining !!!

Three possible solutions :
1) Increase Pagefile to 20GB.
2) Check Riser with a different card
3) Check card with a different riser

Any chance of dual mining eth and cryptonight?

You dont understand what dual mining does, or what kind of algos are clubbed together, do you?

I’m right there with you
Looking at going back to windows and using awesomeminer again
Hive OS also has my attention atm also

Holy cr*p that Hive OS looks good. I need support for 19 gpu's cause I have ASUS b250 board and I can't have empty slots because SMOS still doesn't support more GPU's.
or will go to free Linux.
Seems to me people are getting more and more unsatisfied with SMOS. Either guys at SMOS are getting over their head or not interested in keeping their customers.

Seems to me noob's these days are feelin more and more entitled. SMoS is not a team, it is one person. Also, the crappy B250 board is yet to support more than 13 GPU's, Asus promised a BIOS update but it hasn't arrived yet.

NTool ROCKS!!!

i retasked the 8 vegas to ETN

no changes on my driver settings 17.11.1
no changes to registry tables

i set these values in NTool for all 8 Vega:

CPU ST6 1212
CPU ST6 VOLT 890
CPU ST7 1408
CPU ST7 VOLT 890
MEM P3 1100
MEM P3 VOLT 870
FAN MIN 2500
FAN MAX 4900
TARGET TEMP 75
ACCOUSTIC 0
MAX TEMP 85
POWER TARGET 0

diasbled/enabled gpus in device manager

started nanopool ELECTRONEUM claymore miner (done the edit with my details already)

total speed 9800H/s
using only 1250W !!!!!!!!

will be doing the regedit next to attempt stated goal

---------------------------------

Norway has an abundance of tall sharp valleys and running water and has invested heavily into hydroelectric power
there is an oversupply for the 5.5 million residents even if its wasted and STATNET sells it to Germany and oher European countries
the oil money (25% of European demand) is separate
i have lived in a few countries around the globe and this one takes the biscuit for quality of living in the western world

Good, now use Cast XMR and sent that total speed to 15500H/s+
231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v10.2 (Windows/Linux) on: December 15, 2017, 10:32:27 AM
Hey guys,
me again!

So. I'm still running 6x RX480 4gb saph nitro+. Blockchain drivers, Memshift Anorak Bios, OC with AB.

So out of two rigs with exactly the same setup I've recently been mining on nicehash with around 28MH per card. On Nanopool dual mining ETH/SC I've been getting around 25MH. After the whole nicehash hack I've had to go back to nanopool until they get the systems back up and running.

Thats all fine and one rig is running golden. My other rig however has now decided that it will not mine at anything higher than 19MH with the same settings. I've tried reinstalling the drivers, reupdating the Bios, playing with OC, went back to V10 claymore, etc but no luck the cards are just refusing to run at over 19MH. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? I think I'm going to switch the hard drives around tonight to see if that does anything but short of that I'm stumped. Guess it would mean a fresh windows install if it does solve it.

PS. when I tried powersave bios on half the cards it did drop it even further to 16MH. previously on powersave I was getting around 22.

Looking forward to hearing what ideas you guys might have.

Please check what EPOCH is used in both cases. I have a miner that use different EPOCH randomly, and mining speed is completely different: from 9.5Mh to 23Mh (!!!). Did not find any possibility to control what EPOCH is used so in my case the problem is unresolved :-(

Thanks but don’t think this is it. With the blockchain drivers we should avoid epoch issues. Have you updated to blockchain driver?

UPDATE: So I swapped the hard drives around the rigs and now the other rig is running with 19MH instead... I'm pretty sure all my settings are exactly the same... Is there something windows could have changed after a few too many crashes?

Epoch changes affected DAG size which caused us to see performance drops. This was because of the way AMD drivers address graphics memory, it did not affect performance in games etc, but crippled Ethash mining. With the blockchain drivers AMD fixed this.
In newer drives, you have to go to AMD settings - gaming - global settings and switch to compute mode from the default gaming mode. This fixes hashing performance.
232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Cast XMR 0.8.0 update on: December 14, 2017, 10:01:06 PM
Does not work with AMD Adrenalin drivers. Cast miner is unable to identify OpenCL platform, and specifying 1 does not help either.
Pretty sure this is an issue with the drivers, as evidenced by the fact that no XMR miner benefits from drivers later than the August Blockchain release.

Yea but should I ask AMD to add support for Cast miner, or should I ask gandalf to add support for the latest drivers, which of the two scenarios seem more likely to happen  Grin
233  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v10.2 (Windows/Linux) on: December 14, 2017, 09:59:06 PM
So I have tried this software before and I couldn't get my GPU AMD Radeon HD Series 7800 to create enough memory for the DAG file, I did try to allocate more memory but it wouldn't work. I'm stuck using Minergate Sad

Maybe you didnt read up about the Ethash algo or DAG size, but its over 2.5GB now, so it will not work on any cards with less than 3GB Vram ... those 7800 series have been out of commission for almost a year.
234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Cast XMR 0.8.0 update on: December 14, 2017, 08:49:35 PM
Hi,

a new version is available:

Cast XMR Version 0.8 (2017/12/14)

  - kernel optimizations result in subtle performance improvements

  - --fastjobswitch option (experimental) to force fast switching to new jobs. When enabled the GPUs will switch to the new job within less then 100ms. This improves the effective hash rate by 1 to 5% as nearly no GPU performance will be wasted on calculating outdated shares anymore. The drawback is a slightly lower displayed hashrate as while switching no hashes are calculated.

  - improved support for more then 8 GPUs

  - support for Radeon RX 470/RX 570 (Polaris) added

  - --forcecompute option to force kernel for compute mode on Polaris (RX470/570/480/580) GPUs. In the Radeon Settings GPU Workload has to be switched to 'Compute'. This option is available in Crimson 17.10.2 (or later) driver and reaches nearly the same performance on Polaris based GPUs as with the Blockchain driver.

  - openCL platform is auto detected if --opencl is not specified

  - --nonicehash option to disable nicehash support

  - nicehash support will automatically disabled if more then 8 GPUs are used. Otherwise search space could be exhausted to early and the GPUs search in overlapping nonce ranges.

Download Cast XMR 0.8 for Windows (64bit)

Happy mining!

Does not work with AMD Adrenalin drivers. Cast miner is unable to identify OpenCL platform, and specifying 1 does not help either.

236  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD releases new drivers - Adrenalin - Mining performance unchanged on: December 12, 2017, 08:55:41 PM
Thanks for posting. I was just about to download fresh drivers for a rig that's been acting up lately and I seen these Adrenalin drivers published today. Before I did though I thought I would check to see if anyone tested them yet with mining. Here is hoping for a slight improvement, stability would be great.

WARNING : the drivers break temp/fan reporting for claymore. Use at own risk. For now I'd stay stick to what you already have. I dont know how this took me so long to notice lol.
237  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Onda D1800 and 6x Vega56: Windows barely working on: December 12, 2017, 08:52:50 PM
It was behaving normally until I installed the Blockchain drivers. Then everything in Windows became terrible. Click-latency. Start-button not working. Starting an app does not work until I right-click on the start button. Everything is extemely "sticky" and only starts whenever it wants to.

I've had this exact same stickiness on Win10 1709 with 17.11.1/2 and Rx 570's on an ASUS B250 mining expert motherboard, so I'm not sure if this is an issue with the Onda board.
In my case switching around/replacing a couple of risers helped solve the issue. I'd recommend trying to test the system with 1 GPU, then 2 and so on to see if one of the slot/card combinations is causing the stickyness.

239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / AMD New Drivers Adrenalin - mining Perf same, Claymore temp/fan monitoring broke on: December 12, 2017, 08:26:25 PM
AMD Released their next major driver overhaul after Relive, the Adrenalin driver set.
Introduce a lot of gaming centric features, better screen capture, overlays etc.
For miners, performance is unchanged and we still have the Graphics/Compute toggle which now seems to be a permanent fixture in AMD Drivers.

Here is a quick overview for those interested https://www.anandtech.com/show/12147/amd-releases-radeon-software-adrenalin-edition

I have installed them and am mining using them on a 4 GPU test rig, I see no improvement on Eth on Claymore 10.2, but they appear to me more stable mining XMR on Claymore 10.2 compared to previous version of drivers. However, Temperature and Fanspeed monitoring in Claymore's miners is not working.
I believe an update for the Claymore XMR miner is in the works, I hope that brings in rock solid stability like we see on the ETH miner.

Update : Cast XMR miner (even the latest version 0.8 ) does not detect these AMD drivers, so does not work with them.
