 Grin overlapping post! Sorry.
222  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 04, 2016, 09:36:53 AM
Long term, I think they're a pretty safe bet and I'm happy holding.

Long term XMR will go back to 1$.

I guess bitcoin can also go to 10 usd.
Obviously anything is possible but I think at this time 1 usd for xmr is very unlikely and the probability of that is less 1-2 %. That requires some very serious bug, otherwise it is heading to the Moon (10 000 + usd). If you want to read where Monero is going, just search for American Pegasus, he has pretty clear vision of the future of XMR.
These 20-30 % dips are heaven sent gifts so take advantage on them. They are like free money out of the holes in the bagholders' bags.

Do you mean this American Pegasus video? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEzNXzZy8e4

I'm grateful for this dip. I stuffed myself by selling a chunk for what I thought was a healthy profit at 0.007 (at that time I hadn't heard the news) - Today I bought the ones I sold back and a few more for good measure and took my losses on the chin. If they go down, I'll buy more.  Long term, I think they're a pretty safe bet and I'm happy holding. Day trading is not my style.
224  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 11, 2016, 11:07:11 PM
In the past when volume has been this low and price hovering in the same place, the price normally falls. In this particular case, with the 1800 coin reduction in daily supply, I'm not taking that risk and anyone selling under $650 has massive balls.

On a different note, I'm glad I'm not a miner with one of those 'superfarms'. Their 50% drop in income overnight makes the 10% Brexit affect on the pound look trivial.

I'm going to bed. All this halvening excitement is too much. Good night everyone.
226  Economy / Speculation / Simple Poll - plus or minus $450 by mid-day Xmas day GMT on: December 24, 2015, 06:03:13 AM
Will the price be higher or lower than $450 by mid day Xmas day GMT?

Personally, I have no idea.

Does anyone else think that Bitcoin is losing its appeal because its anonymity is being called into question and people are gambling on other altcoins with better anonymity?
234  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 10, 2015, 04:11:50 PM
i'm never buying a bitcoin again. this is clearly the end of bitcoin. its remarkable 230 is holding, but not for long, soon it will crash 30% in 1 hours time.

Is this your capitulation 'sell all the bitcoins' speech?
235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: April 05, 2015, 04:03:41 AM
man i had a buy order sitting at 0.00301 forever and i decided it wasnt going to happen and went ahead and moved the bitcoin off the exchange to avoid counterparty risk... then like a couple hours later... DOH

I am currently on holiday with no Bitcoin in Polo to spend and my laptop at home! I' quite gutted I missed the 280 low. :-(

Oh, we only had like, what?.. 5 months below that price.  Cheesy

Fair point. But.... I want..... That price again :-)

There might be a second chance.
I think there will be some dumping coming (just my speculation - not information). At least you could try if the price starts now declining like last autumn.
I surely hope the decline will not be that long though... It was exhausting to see portfolio melting down.

I think a lot of people are on holday right now but Tuesday will see a change of direction.

Thank you for the heads up!
239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: April 01, 2015, 03:15:37 AM

litecoin offers nothing of value over Bitcoin, so you may as well buy Bitcoin. Whilst I did hold Litecoin for a while - i will not do it again.

If you expect LTC to do 'MOAR' than BTC, you're looking at its value proposition the wrong way.

Bitcoin already offers plenty of value.  LTC will continue to do fine by (coming closest to) matching BTC in terms of network hashrate/security, mature infrastructure/ecosystem/userbase, and liquidity.  IOW BTC needs a hot-swappable backup, which LTC does a fine job of providing.

/offtopic digression

Thats a fair point. But for me it offers nothing of value over Bitcoin. Bitcoin is more widely accepted than Litecoin. Monero is a better coin and stands more chance of widespread adoption. Bitcoin will continue to appreciate in value as the infrastructure gets better but Litecoin does not have that adoption and its collapse will continue (in my opinion) as other alts Monero offers more fungibility.

Edit: I only hold BTC & XMR
240  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 31, 2015, 11:37:03 AM
IMO - Monero is what people thought Bitcoin was in 2013... Anonymous!

As such, a lot of the earlier adopters of Bitcoin who were the ones that took it over $100 (before it was famous) are the ones that are looking at Monero to carry the torch forward.

litecoin offers nothing of value over Bitcoin, so you may as well buy Bitcoin. Whilst I did hold Litecoin for a while - i will not do it again.

Monero lacks basic ecommerce APIs or simple 'newbie, clients or even a Direct USD to Monero exchange but it does have an optimistic roadmap and I think that its own community can easily drive the price higher than it is now (even without these things) and a lot higher when the infrastructure becomes more robust.

The speculators have only just started to wake up and many of them are looking for a better payday than .004 per Monero and will probably hold longer to see if the roadmap materialises as promised.
