221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON [2017-10-07: update to 0.9.14.0] on: May 09, 2018, 01:13:18 AM
I was thinking about this over this weekend. Are we the shitcoin? I criticize Ethereum and other cryptocoins for being centralized but I have not looked at the coin I support more objectively.

We have low market capitalization, a very low volume orderbook and the code is very outdated, but soon will only be a Monero copycat.

Also, if I wanted to dump all my coins, I can't because it would crash the price. I am not saying I am a whale. It will not take that much to crash Aeon.

I think it's unfair to call AEON a shitcoin. It does not have any shiny new exciting features, but at least it was fairly launched without a pre-mine.

'Shitcoin' is a technical term, and aeon does not meet the definition at all, we have a good dev, good tech, and not much bullshit hype and pumping going on ever,  so i would say aeon is a top coin in the second tier of cryptos that are basically copies of earlier coins but with a few tweaks and ability to experiment without involving the parent coin. I would imagine most xmr whales have a few aeon as a hedge.

We are working on a number of things that people have suggested. Any more feedback or info you have, we would love to hear it.

Ha ha, one of the best posts I have read in months, I am ready to give you loads of feedback, and I will give you lots of my money to spend on your project ... all you have to do is say what it is lol
223  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sirius A New Smart Chain Freely Distributed on: May 09, 2018, 01:04:46 AM
Yes, the news on exchange listing and foundation shows there is work going on behind the scenes, but an occasional post here would only take 5 minutes, and it gives people confidence,  and that helps grow the community. It's not rocket science, cloning an existing coin tech is more about building a community than anything else.

Its true that they are lack of community interaction and failed on that part.. but theyre aliby was they dont have anything to updates and there's no reason to post without anything concrete to post.

Sometime, a simple "hi" and Hello Sirx Community" can make a big difference or impact the way people view this coin.

Yeah, it's basic marketing to let people know you still exist, so much advertising is based on this simple idea of establishing your brand, or company name, or product etc in the minds of the public. The idea that you only communicate when there's news to report comes from a tech mindset,  but that isn't enough now. While we wait for real news the sirius team can still communicate and engage the community in discussion. It all helps.
224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Main] Bitcore- BTX - SEGWIT - hybrid fork 1:0.5 of Bitcoin on: May 09, 2018, 12:58:46 AM

1st successful atomic swap

This is really great news, komodo and BarterDEX are the future of trading for privacy and security conscious traders, which really should cover every serious player in the cryptosphere. BarterDEX does have a steep learning curve at the beginning, but it's well worth the trouble to learn the new atomic swap trading paradigm. You always control your private keys, and you can trade without any kyc impediments.
225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HLM] HELIUM - PRE NOTICE on: May 09, 2018, 12:51:06 AM
Any idea when HLM will be tradeable on Cryptopia? I'm wanting to buy a baggie. How many to have a MN again?

Edit* I found the MN amount on the main page. Still curious as to when you guys think it'll be tradeable on cryptopia?

The testnet is live and work is being done quickly. It should be weeks or less, but I'm not a programmer or dev and there are always unexpected hiccups. They've been compiling the windows wallet, the Testnet is functional. They had some problem with the POW/POS switch due to that part of the PivX code being old and in conflict with more recent updates. It looks like they managed to pick up some real quality developers though.

That sounds positive, thanks for the update! It's not possible to follow every project fully in slack telegram dischord etc so having someone provide an occasional summary update here is really appreciated! I have enough for a couple of helium masternode, so feeling pretty positive about the future!
226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty - Pioneering Peer-to-Peer Finance - Official Thread on: May 09, 2018, 12:47:20 AM
XCP will became the new bitcoin, I know personally the team and they are the best in this field! proud to be an investor

I like your confidence, but the new Bitcoin, really .. How can XCP even exist without the old Bitcoin?

IMO the real Bitcoin is Bitcoin cash, and I still don't know what's happening there, is anyone trying to fork counterpart to work with Bitcoin cash?
227  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: May 09, 2018, 12:42:12 AM
Is it necessary to store the XEM in the Mint Wallet or can I let them into my NEM Nano wallet? I am little bit confused about storing it in a wallet which does not necessarily seem secure. Any experience with the wallet yet?

Hi. The NEM Nano Wallet is secured. You just need to keep you Backup Wallet (.WLT file) and Private Key secured, usually on an external USB within a weather-proof safe with combo and key. (LOL....maybe not that secured, but you get the picture.)

Here is a video I created to create a "simple wallet" on the NEM Nano Wallet desktop client. After you create your own personal wallet on the desktop client, and find your NEM address...you can then transfer XEM from a crypto exchange to your personal wallet for safe-keeping and/or use. You can buy things with XEM at participating stores in Japan, Australia, and more to come.

However, I do not know what a "MINT WALLET" is? Is that a wallet on a specific crypto exchange, that can hold NEM mosaics like XEM?

Hope my video helps: https://youtu.be/U_i2_3w1YTY

To get the airdrop being discussed I think you have to deposit your precious XEM into the Mint wallet, which for anything larger than pocket change sounds like a really bad idea. Some airdrop based on creating a wallet with a minimum balance and signing a message from cold storage wallet on a trezor seems much better, then users are protected, and the Mint wallet gets some new user promotion.
228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: May 09, 2018, 12:34:45 AM
For a coin outside the top 100 there's a lot of really interesting projects and features being added to the ecosystem every week, I can't think of another coin with this much activity inside the ecosystem outside the top 100. Makes me feel it's just a matter of time before something goes viral, like the insurance or sports betting, or maybe boinc. Keep it up guys!

There are a lot of interesting projects out of the top 100 which were growing from low volume/low market cap (lets say from millions of dollars) to tens millions or even hundreds of millions. They are growing up!
Byteball is not among them. It was jumping from the top 50 to outside of 100, with 1/4th the market cap of its peak.

Supporters always says it is a good project. Let's see its future. Ok, let's wait.

I think the drop outside the top100 can be attributed to the end of the full moon airdrops and the uncertainty over how the remaining byteball will be distributed, and how long it will take. That was, and still is, a major negative on the market price, BUT, that doesn't mean we can't acknowledge  and applaud the good things going on in the ecosystem.

Without the new features and projects BB would have dropped much further, maybe even have gone into full obscurity.

Without the end of moon airdrops BB could easily be in the top20.

Time will tell if tony's decision to prolong the distribution to hopefully increase adoption will work, but in the short term the price effect was obviously negative, but the ecosystem is getting better and more interesting all the time.
229  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NEWBIUM - Crypto News and Information Platform on: May 09, 2018, 12:26:02 AM
Newbium Brand Revolution Statement

Newbium at the core, it's core value is that we believe the world would be a better place if blockchain technology spreads to all human beings.  That's what we believe. And that providing cryptocurrency knowledge is essential. And so what we're going to do in our brand marketing campaigns going forward is to express that core value.  To communicate it to those striving for a better world.

To reflect this revolutionary change our new brand tagline for Newbium will be "The market's dirty little secret".

This message builds on and reinforces Newbium strength as one of the leading sources of cryptocurrency market and coin information in the world.  We feel this long-term campaign will help Newbium to stand out in an ever crowded marketplace.

I like this marketing focus, but I think you could replace market with elite ...

"The elites dirty little secret"

To me the 'market' can be good or bad depending on if it is open and free of manipulation, so some markets currently are very open and fair. The word 'elite' is much more loaded as a negative, and it's the markets controlled by vested interests and power elites that the world needs changing.

Otherwise, a good strategy for Newbium,  education of the masses!
230  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES - Complete Blockchain ecosystem for a token economy on: May 09, 2018, 12:16:24 AM
Old thread of it was a lot better, and also there were a huge amount of debates and more fuds, which can give us more of the ideas of this project

This thread is dominated by bots posting mindless repetitive garbage to boost the page count, the amount of useful informative posts is very low, almost makes this thread pointless to follow. At least when a thread is over run by FUD it can help if the fud raises concerns that get addressed,  the shill fest we have here achieves nothing.
231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Radix - Tempo Whitepaper on: May 08, 2018, 11:59:00 PM
The whitepaper states that Radix is a new form of distributed ledger technology; it is not a blockchain, nor a directed acyclic graph. The question is, what is the foundational architecture used by Radix (the mathematical structure to store information, i.e. custom hashed link list for blockchain type DLTs)?

Good question, the one we're all waiting to have answered. From my research radix will start with a humungous number of shards, or network subdivisions, and each address will exist in a single shard, and then nodes in each shard will be constantly communicating their state to other shards, so no node will ever have a complete picture of the network, but as addresses exist in only one shard space, double spends can still be detected quickly. I know that doesn't go anywhere near answering your question, but the key (i think) is radix is starting out with a design that scales using shards. The datastructure is something new.
232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 08, 2018, 11:49:50 PM

Circle's Monero onramp is about the biggest news for the adoption of the currency as I can remember.

Yes, quite amazing news, maybe in the next 10-15 years we get a Treasury Secretary in the USA from usual Goldman suspects who is currently working on crypto markets via Circle today, quite a thought, but very possible. How things have changed, great for monero to have these new powerful friends lol

I like the concept, but it looks like a bunch of musos and tech nerds had a great idea with FUNK, but forgot to actually connect the two together, what is the point of owning FUNK?

If you own FUNK, you'll be able to change it soon for the new ETH token - Soniq, in 1000:1 ratio.
I recommend you to check the last ~10 pages for more info.

I think his main question is; what gives the token value? Can you buy music with it for example?

Exactly, I love the decentralised band and music idea, but what is the economics behind FUNK? From what i can tell the FUNK currency is not needed for the music project, so why would people buy it?

I like the vibe here, and I have a small bag of FUNK, so it would be great to see the economic side of the project explained a bit more.
235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]PiCoin [POS+POW] [SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN] on: May 08, 2018, 11:34:14 PM
I just checked on novaexchange and oddly coin is still listed there. so perhaps there is tiny bit of hope for picoin to survive in case someone takes over. 0.00000001% perhaps.

Strange things happen in crypto space everyday, someone deciding to revive Picoin would not surprise me at all, but I think it is unlikely.

A better option would probably be a project to migrate Picoin blockchain over to something new, like a komodo assetchain, which would give Picoin a new selling point to rally around, and access to some cutting edge tech. The komodo devs are very helpful, and I suspect many erc20 and smaller blockchain networks will start migrating to komodo assetchains later this year, the tech is unambiguously better.
236  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sirius A New Smart Chain Freely Distributed on: May 08, 2018, 11:28:35 PM
devs are inactive ? I did ask something 2 days ago on Discord group and nobody answer Smiley

Dev team too busy with everything on making Sirius legitimate bussines. We shooting blind here, don't know what will actually happen soon. Hopefully everything will be okay.
if it is true dev is busy to make this project the better it does not matter we wait, but it should dev also give update about what is done so that community knows until where dev do its job.

information about the legal registration and filed application for listing on the exchange cryptopia, is this not enough information for you?
I think that the devs give us only the necessary information, briefly and clearly

Yes, the news on exchange listing and foundation shows there is work going on behind the scenes, but an occasional post here would only take 5 minutes, and it gives people confidence,  and that helps grow the community. 237  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: (ANN) Jetcoin (JET) - Supporting Tomorrow's Champions on: May 08, 2018, 11:21:37 PM
Jetcoin now listed on MERCATOX exchange!

That's very good news! What is the current coin supply, will there be any more distribution of coins, or is the supply fixed now?

Also, will jetcoin ever migrate to another platform, like an assetchain on komodo, or will you stay as erc20 on ethereum forever?
238  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo - Zcash Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: May 08, 2018, 11:15:49 PM
Looks like barterdex will hit it's 100,000 swap milestone this week.

And chips is nearly all released with almost 25,000 coins left to mine and has been holding steady at it's floor of around $.30
And. No-one cares as usual. I keep looking at the stupidest news pumping other coins 10-20% a day and, hmmm. Is that the crowd ignorance or a genius touch, I do not know. I personally a long time hodler, dump if you dare.

dump the kmd and buy the coins witch promise atomicswap and dex and  bla bla in Q3 Q4!! you will get more ... fure sure!!!!  ===> bad ideea

please stop think for short time... every project want to  creat an dex with atomicswap ... but only komodo platform have it working right now , right here Smiley.

@ komodo team  , is time to push the marketing, because to many project like the ideea but only komodo platform can deliver Smiley . spread the word and tell how to use dex, atomicswap and dICO.

It def feels as though komodo is swimming in a sea of me too. We have alot of duplication in the crypto world right now. Platforms devoted to smart contracts, platforms devoted to different chain relationships, platforms devoted to speed, platforms devoted to Ico, etc.

Many of these it appears have gotten some type of venture capitalist money and market themselves accordingly to the traditional venues, such as forbes, business insider, bank capital company this or that.

Eth has Vitalik, he already had a news platform and spoke in smart sounding buzzwords, then did speech after speech around the world. Add in his multimillionaire family and some goldmansaches stooges and you have institutional pumping of this product.

Just go down the list of projects that are hyped with big valuations and youll see a alot of wallstreet style money making big claims vs grassroots crypto ingenuity. If that is the difference, then the only way to compete nowadays might be to get some goldmansachs on board.

If komodo platform is like the swiss army knife of crypto in that it can do one of everything great, but the question becomes, how can it compete in a sea of the same thing when project xyz can just start up and say we are going to revolutionize crypto speed or ico or better whatever. It becomes information overload and then all of a sudden komodo is lost in a sea of me too as who has the time to research 60 plus blockchain projects.

Hype IS necessary. Hype through games, competition, prizes, community building exercises, beautiful girls, fancy cars, whatever. Vhs had more hype then beta, look how that turned out.

Personally, the single most important thing of komodo platform right now, in my opinion, is chips. I know its on the backburner no hype or updates page but man does it have the potential to be a rocketship and bring in many new people to crypto. Of course though, by the time it is ready, will 50 projects already be loudly advertising me too?

The feature komodo has today that separates it from all the competition is BarterDEX, which is up and running, approaching 100k atomic swaps, and soon will have new user friendly GUI's.

BarterDEX will be very popular for a certain segment of the crypto market (privacy and security conscious traders), but it's quite different to what the big guys like Goldman Sachs  want, they want to collect fees from running and controlling big retail exchanges like binance, and they can do that while BarterDEX prospers in another market. If there's a run on DEX assets which pay BarterDEX fees as dividends we'll know the big boys want BarterDEX fees also.
