Have you thought about the Argentina team, what kind of performance the team will have or how they can prepare the team for the next World Cup. Lionel Messi is currently enjoying his World Cup achievement.

Well.. next world cup is three years away. I am not sure how much importance Messi and his friends are going to give for the CONMEBOL qualifiers, because this time 6 out of the 10 participating teams are going to qualify. So qualifying won't be as hard as it was last time. And their morale would be high after the win against Ecuador. For Argentina, the next match is going to be against Bolivia. Opponents are very weak, but the match will take place at the Estadio Hernando Siles in La Paz, which is situated at an elevation of 3,637 meters.

First of the regional qualifiers for the 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup got completed today. From the East Asia-Pacific region, Vanuatu has qualified for the next round. In the next round, a total of 10 teams will compete against each other, and out of them 2 will qualify for the world cup. Other regional qualifiers are undergoing at this point. Two teams will qualify from Asia, and at this point four teams have a chance to finish at top 2 - UAE, Nepal, Thailand and Hong Kong. From Americas, USA is leading right now. Two slots will be allotted from Europe, and most probably will be taken by Netherlands and Scotland.

Now New Zealand need less than 100 runs to win. The 3rd wicket partnership between Devon Conway and Daryl Mitchell is taking New Zealand towards a very comfortable victory. And this is a big morale booster for New Zealand, as they will be up 1-0 in the ODI series against one of the best opposition sides. And even more significant is the fact that this is the last ODI series for these two teams ahead of the ODI World Cup. For New Zealand, one concern should be the inconsistent form of Kyle Jamieson. He failed during the last T20I, and conceded plenty of runs in this match as well.

Brazil is entering the field on Saturday in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in the Latin American region. In this match, the opponent of the five-time world champions is Bolivia. On Saturday, September 9, at 6:45 am, the two teams will enter the field at the Estadio Estadual Journalista in Belem, Brazil. Before that, Brazil is going through a nightmare from the World Cup in Qatar. They lost to Croatia on the world stage. Then the loss against Morocco in a friendly match. It was as if the Selesaora had lost their familiar rhythm. Finally, the former world champions returned to their rhythm with a 4-1 win against Guinea. Vinicius Jr. is not in the team due to an injury in this match. But the good news for Brazilian fans is the inclusion of Neymar. In addition, Gabriel Jesus returned to the team in place of Richarlison. Therefore, Brazilian poster boy Neymar Jr. wants to forget the disappointment of the World Cup in this match at home and start anew.

Gone are the days when Brazil used to dominate the sport of football. Now other teams have narrowed the gap with Brazil and this was very evident during Qatar 2022. And now coming to Neymar, I really hope that he remains free from injuries. He has at least 5-6 years of top class football ahead of him, provided that he stays free from injuries. CONMEBOL qualifiers will be quite challenging for Brazil. Afterall, it is the toughest confederation in the world and there is no guarantee that any of the top teams would qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

What is wrong with co-hosting such world events? I am not much experienced with football, but ice hockey experience was great. Not a single nation got a free qualification spot in tournament, because they co-host an event. For fans, I see only benefits from such system. For countries - tourists are always a plus into budget. Hosting or co-hosting was always a matter of money. Tournaments are not co-hosted because some have better or worse stadium, or low number of stadiums for example. This happens because countries make huge payments to FIFA imo, in a matter of trading hosting spots.

Once again, there is nothing wrong with co-hosting. My problem is not with co-hosting as such, but with providing automatic entry to the teams that co-host the tournament. IMO, automatic entry should be given only to two teams - defending champions and one team from the hosts. If there are multiple hosts, then the weaker teams should be asked to participate in the qualifier tournament. I understand the budget concerns. In some cases, a country may not have enough quality stadiums and all. But that is an entirely different topic from giving automatic entry.
2206  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket Asia Cup 2023! Which team will WIN? on: September 08, 2023, 11:12:16 AM
It seems that the ACC has sensed the frustration of cricket fans and took the right decision. If the match between India and Pakistan is not played due to the rain on September 10th then the match will resume on September 11th. Such decision could have been avoided if the tournament could have been organised in Dubai. I think they should reserve an extra day for all the Super 4 matches in this tournament. This decision might have come due to the pressure of the broadcaster. Otherwise ACC was looking least bothered if any match got abandoned or interrupted due to rain.

So instead of spending 7-8 hours on a 50-over match, we are gong to spend 2 days? I am not sure how many people would be OK with that. The world is fast moving, and that is one of the reasons why T20I format is so popular now. ODI is slowly dying because fans simply doesn't have half a day to spare on the matches. And if they spread out the matches across two days (one being a working day), how it is going to work? The problem is that ACC bosses decided on the schedule without having any regard for the fans. And this will hit their revenue next time, when they auction the TV/OTT rights.
2207  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: September 08, 2023, 10:32:13 AM
The industry will always grow bigger as they move closer to its projected goal but just like what you've said, what they are doing now will not resolve the problem because lots of countries will now try to move forward while combining their bids to other neighboring countries. 4 hosts in one event might be a good idea because the benefit will be shared thoroughly and equally but for the event, it will not resolve anything specially if the teams of these four countries will be granted an automatic qualification which is quite unfair already.

There should be a limit at some point. Back in 2002, when the co-host system was first implemented, there were two hosts for the first time - Japan and South Korea. 2026 will be the first time that there will be more than 2 hosts (USA, Canada and Mexico). And in all probability there will be 4 hosts in 2030 and all of them will be given direct entry. But this has to stop at some point. What if EU wins the hosting rights for 2034, and then ask for automatic qualification for all the 27 member nations? In that case only 21 nations will enter the world cup through qualifier tournament.

Read some weird news about the Asia Cup remaining matches (Super 4 group).

Pakistan vs India match has a reserve day now, in case the Sunday fixture witnesses another washout. The weird part is it's the only match to get reserve day not every Super 4 fixture, not even final.

They could have just shifted the matches to Hambantota or Dambulla. Hosting this tournament in Sri Lanka, and that too at peak monsoon season was a big mistake. And having no reserve days is even bigger mistake. Good that they added reserve day for the India vs Pakistan match. But even from the beginning, there was not much hype regarding this match. And if there is rain interruption, then the crowd response would be even more lukewarm. One thing is for sure. The TV and OTT rights holders are not going to be happy about all this drama.

Of course I watched yesterday's match from beginning to end but one thing that really bothered me was that when everyone in the team failed, South Africa's favorite player Temba Bavuma scored an unbeaten 114 in the face of a tough disaster but the man of the match was awarded to Marnus Labuschange. But one of the main reasons why Marnus Labuschange was given the man of the match was that he was the only player to remain unbeaten in the impact player for tomorrow's match, scoring an unbeaten eighty runs and giving Australia an eventual victory. Maybe cricket experts declared Marnus Labuschange Man of the Match for this important contribution.

Man of the match award is usually given to players who are capable of winning matches for their team. In this case, Temba Bavuma despite his century could not guide South Africa to a win. On the other hand, it was Marnus Labuschagne who made a match winning contribution. In my mind, there is no confusion on who should be the man of the match. Anyway, this is a 5-match ODI series. Australia is up 1-0, but still there is plenty of time for South Africa to catch up. And they should also remember that this series is more like a warmup ahead of the ODI world cup.

Bangladesh will play the second match of Super Four against Sri Lanka today. Sri Lanka are high on confidence after winning two matches in the group stage. Sri Lanka will definitely be ahead in the equation of the Asia Cup matches against Bangladesh. Bangladesh has done extremely badly in two of the last three matches. Full points will go to those who do well in today's match.

First of all, there is no guarantee that we will get an outcome from today's match. Heavy rains are predicted and there is a 77% chance of thunderstorms. And even if Sri Lanka wins the match today, there is no guarantee that they will qualify for the final. In order to do that, they need to defeat either India or Pakistan in the upcoming matches. Now coming to Bangladesh, there is almost zero chance that they would qualify for the final. They need to defeat both India and Pakistan in order to do that. And given their current form, it is very unlikely.

England Women vs Sri Lanka Women today's 3rd T20 match will start in a little while. I am looking forward to see the England Women team's performance in today's match. Which team will win this match can't be understood until the end of the game. But I hope.  England Women team will play well in this match. If England Women Women can bat first and score 170 runs, I think they can win this match. And if Sri Lanka Women team performs well, then we can enjoy a tough game in this match.

LOL.. England women batted first and managed just 116 runs, as none of the batters made a score of more than 25. Danni Wyatt got out in the very first ball. Maia Bouchier top-scored with 23, as Lankan bowlers ripped though the England batting lineup. Anyway, it is of great shame that England lost a series against Sri Lanka at home. The Lankan spinners were very effective, especially Chamari Athapaththu and Kavisha Dilhari. If England wants to put up a good performance in the ODI series, then they need to find out a way to handle the Lankan spinners.

Argentina started to play against Ecuador with an injury-plagued team. Lionel Messi-Lautaro Martinez-Nicolas Gonzales couldn't score a goal even though they played with control throughout the match. Despite holding the ball for 71 percent of the match, the World Cup winners were unable to crack Ecuador's defense in any way. After one attack after another, there was no goal. In the 62nd minute of the second half, Lionel Scaloni removed Gonzales from the field and replaced Di Maria. Then in the 77th minute, Martinez was brought down to Julian Alvarez. After that, Argentina found the attack. In the 78th minute, Argentina captain Messi broke the deadlock and gave the team the lead. And with that goal, the World Cup winners left the field with a relief victory.

They got 3 points from the match and that is important. Anyway, this is a good start to their campaign to defend the world cup trophy in 2026. I don't think that Argentina need to worry too much about the results. Ecuador, afterall is a quality team. They managed to qualify for Qatar 2022 and put up a good performance there. Another team that won their match yesterday is Colombia, who had an easy win over Venezuela. They failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup and will be hoping to avoid that fate this time.

The wall can only slow people down at best, I dislike the whole idea of immigration being seen as a great negative.  Like any commodity, labor has a cost to it and with a great rise it brings greater costs to the economy.  Quite ironically the immigrants are more often then not a benefactor to the country they seek to work in.  It is important for people to register properly and follow laws, that cannot be ignored but the wall is mostly a waste of time imo.  The desert itself is the biggest restriction and discouragement.

As usual, you guys resort to your tried and tested tactic. I never said that "immigration" is bad for the country. What I was implying is that "legal immigration" should be given preference over "illegal immigration". Millions of illegal aliens are allowed into the country every year, when hundreds of thousands of legal immigrants wait for 5 years or more waiting to get their visa. I am speaking against this discrimination. The American legal system and the Democrat party discriminates people who follow the laws of the land and actively encourage people who break it.

I will place India and Pakistan ahead to win the Asia Cup title. Because the players of these two teams are all performing extremely well and these players are really experienced. And we hope to see a great competitive match between India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup.

Agreed. At this point both India and Pakistan seems far ahead of the other two teams in Super-4. BTW, weather conditions are a concern. India vs Pakistan match is scheduled for 10th September, at Colombo and heavy rains are ongoing there at the moment. I don't know whether the match will get completed or not. Yesterday the ACC decided to continue hosting the matches in Colombo, rather than moving them to Hambantota or Dambulla. I was quite surprised by this decision. Colombo is pretty much inundated right now as a result of heavy rains.

But the problem for Al Ittihad is about the number of their foreign players because they currently have nine foreign players and Al Ittihad should remove one player from the list.

Well.. it's OK..Al Ittihad had strong attack and midfield, but they were a bit weak on the defense. With the entry of Luiz Felipe, their defense also looks good. He will be working with Ahmed Hegazi and local Saudi players such as Zakaria Hawsawi and Ahmed Bamsaud. That said, their main issue at this point is the lack of co-ordination between Abderrazak Hamdallah and Karim Benzema. The coach (Nuno Espírito Santo) also made some controversial comments about adding Benzema to the squad and that gives a bad impression in front of the media.

I was aware of Hungary's form until this game. However Serbia were still strongly the favourite team to win and I believed in that to happen as well. Now I just wish I didn't add their win to my parlay. Because despite getting ahead first they couldn't prevent Hungary's comeback in the first half.

The second half was quite silent about a goal and Hungary somehow managed to maintain their advantage. You shouldn't give this kind of a score advantage against a team like Hungary. They can be really good at benefiting from score advantages like in this example.

Given the current form of Serbia, I never expected that they would lose to Hungary. And especially after leading by 1-0 at the beginning. Anyway, fortunately for them they are being placed in a very weak group. In all provability, both Serbia and Hungary will be able to qualify for the main tournament. Apart from these two, Group G comprises of two teams that almost never qualify for the Euro Cup (Montenegro and Lithuania), and Bulgaria (which is a shadow of what it was a few years back). Serbia will play against Hungary once again on 14th October. So there is a chance of getting revenge for yesterday's defeat.

Thoroughly enjoyed the match yesterday between South Africa and Australia. Matches such as this one shows why Australia is the most favored team to win the ODI World Cup this time. And before that credit needs to be given to Temba Bavuma. After a series of failures, he got one good score to his name and made sure that South Africa reaches a total of more than 200. And then Australia was struggling at 113/7. But the 112-run partnership between Marnus Labuschagne and Ashton Agar took them home. South African bowlers completely failed to break this partnership, after toiling really hard until then.

FIFA 2026 World Cup Qualifying Match Argentina vs Ecuador. At the end of the first half the game is tied 0-0. Argentina is stronger team than Ecuador. Argentina has shown surprise in the World Cup. Argentina almost won the match against Ecuador. The final result of today's match will either be a draw or Argentina will win. I think Argentina have more chances to win today's match. What do you think, which team can win in the end?

In the end, the defending champions won by a margin of 1-0, thanks to the goal from Lionel Messi. Once again, this shows the quality of CONMEBOL qualifiers. All the 10 teams that are participating in this tournament are capable of beating each other, unlike the case with UEFA, CAF or AFC qualifiers. This time the number of teams that will qualify for the world cup from CONMEBOL has been increased to 6. But even then, four high quality teams would lose out. BTW, tomorrow we have the Brazil vs Bolivia match scheduled. The match will take place at Belém, Brazil.

Congratulations for History creating Srilanka women. Sri Lanka women beat England women by 2-1 and the First ever Series win against England Women in England. This is a great achievement for the Srilanka women cricket team. In 1st match England women won by 12 runs DLS method. But After that 2nd match Srilanka women by won by 8 wickets and chased down the target in just 13overs what a win it was. After levelling the Series Srilanka Women won by 3rd and Final T20 by 7 wickets and won the series for the first time against England women. Congratulations to Sirlanka women for this great performance.

Lankan women should be proud of their performance. They were up against overwhelming odds, and yet they managed to put up a credible performance. Meanwhile England women need to introspect. The ODI series will start from tomorrow and now they need to win at least this series. England batting proved very brittle against Sri Lanka. In the first match they managed a total of 186, but in the next two matches they barely made it to three figures. And it is perplexing, given the number of experienced players they had in the squad.

How else would you suggest them to celebrate? By nodding head? Or a smile? That was an emotional act. In fact, why dont that girl did not pushed him away when he hugged her? And she was smiling and happy when she was leaning that podium. But later turned out she was a victim of sexism. Wtf? Another double standards? Why then several nations, when they meet people they know or barely know, kiss each other into cheeks as an act of welcome? Sexism again? If my family is invited into kids birthday and I give a birthday girl a cheek kiss together with a present, then I am a pedo?

This post is really shameful.

You are defending someone in position of power, who misused his authority to commit sexual abuse. For your kind information, if you want to celebrate, there are ways to do that. You can't pick someone from the crowd and then force yourself on them. This is exactly what Luis Rubiales did with Jenni Hermoso. If you are defending such a person, then shame on you. And for your kind information, Hermoso has filed a police complaint against Rubiales, for forcibly kissing her without her consent. Details can be found here:
