2201  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How una dey cope with this high Bitcoin fees wahala, which wallet una dey use? on: May 17, 2023, 01:05:39 PM
I know say my level  as a newbie never reach to contribute to this topic, because I never dey trade. But as I just dey read through una comments on this topic, the thing come make me dey fear small, unto say the risk wey dey involved for trading in bitcoin dey real, because if you no calculate well, you fit to loose plenty money. E de rush me for body to start to dey trade immediately, but e be like say I need to take am easy and learn more, as I de do now from senior members like una.

Anyway if I fit to contribute small, I for say if dem dey charge high fee for one wallet and e get alternative for another wallet, wey go give a better deal at that time, na to change to that one sharply. Because una make me to understand here say e dey possible to move from one wallet to another.
2202  Other / Beginners & Help / Overcoming my fear of bitcoin and online businesses on: May 17, 2023, 11:10:15 AM
I am a trader who has a shop in one of the major markets in my country. I have always held on to the believe that business is between two physical parties, one wants to buy and the other wants to sell. The buyer sees what he wants, gives money to the seller and the seller delivers the goods to the buyer. The two parties leave happily. Until recently, and before knowing this place I always thought that anything trading or business online is a fraud. I always see them as ponzi and that one day they will make enough money from the people and shutdown, defrauding many people of their hard earned money.

I remember a colleague of mine when I used to work before I ventured into business, he used to do forex trading then, he will always encourage me to learn the trade, but I always told him no. Some few years back, I started to look for a new business and some friends began to tell me about bitcoin. I was very skeptical then saying that even if bitcoin is genuine that it's probably one of those online businesses that you will invest all of your money and in an instant you will lose everything.

I continued to have that fear until a few months ago when someone sent me the link to this Bitcointalk place, that I decided to try it out. I concluded that it is time for me to put my fear of online investments on hold to see if I can have a better understanding of it and bitcoin. In this few weeks that I have joined this forum it has been a very big eye opener for me. As someone new in this I know I have much to learn, before I start investing, so I don't make mistakes. Although so many things sound strange and confusing to me. And I hope to quicken my process of learning soon enough to start investing and trading like others here. Overcoming that fear of online investments, especially bitcoin is what I'm tackling right now and it is a wonderful experience for me so far. I am learning new things every time I come here and it is a new type of experience for me.

Here are some of the things that moved my decision to finally consider studying bitcoin now.

Number 1 : The first is I don't have to continue in the shadow of my fear and continue to run away from it. Fear is in the mind and no where else. I have to confront my mind to tackle this. As I'm doing this I also encourage anyone having fear of anything to confront it.

2: The second is that I get confused when people around me talked about Bitcoin. I envy them because I see them as intelligent and want to be like them. I also want to be seen as someone who is intelligent and can contribute my views to discussions.

3: Thirdly I want to learn how to trade Bitcoin and also get into other online investments.

My observation so far in the few weeks that I have spent in bitcointalk, I have noticed that there is willingness by senior members to give directions and corrections to newbies who seek it. I hope to be teaching newbies too one day. Any more advice by members on how to increase my confidence level and learning will be humbly received by me.
2203  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Hunger and unending wants on: May 16, 2023, 09:31:27 PM
The society keep introducing new and better ways of living. Each passing day new tools are been innovated to meet the activities of human existence, this in return has escalated the wants of man. Some of the basic needs has become wants because of the luxury that comes with it, let's take for example house that is meant to be the most affordable basic need of humans is getting even more expensive as new and modern patterns is becoming rampant same thing goes to clothing because the fashion industry are also making their designs look more colourful thereby going for more expensive materials which in turn affects the cost of production and increase in price for the final consumers.

Hunger on the other hand has also increased because the cost of meeting the basic needs of human existence requires extra hustle and more innovative calculations. As humans try to strike balance between what the need and what the wants the proportion to which comes first is getting even more confusing. Feeding now has become another course on its own because even the working class are having issues striking this balance. Making the right decision on which comes first can be a way to reduce the pressure that comes with living in the 21st century era.

I think that the concept of hunger and unending wants apply mainly in underdeveloped and developing countries. I doubt that the developed countries have this problem, because they have improved mechanized agricultural system, advanced technology to make life more meaningful for their citizens. Their GDP is higher than the underdeveloped countries, thereby making people that are living in the developed countries to be living a more comfortable lifestyle, because their economy is well planned. Unlike the underdeveloped countries were bad governance has made basic needs to became luxury. Ordinary citizens finds it difficult to afford basic needs.
2204  Economy / Economics / Re: Look for what to invest, not what to eat on: May 16, 2023, 04:02:55 PM

What do you think.

I think Investing in potential projects can be a wise decision in the long term, because it can bring financial stability and growth. However, it is important to be careful and avoid putting all of one's resources into an investment. On the other hand, it is considered necessary to consider one's current financial situation and prioritize meeting basic needs before making any investment decisions. Each individual's circumstances are unique, and not everyone has the same opportunities or resources available to them. Therefore, it is important to be realistic and make decisions based on one's individual circumstances.

I agree with your analyses that it is important to prioritize basic needs first before investments. This is true because investment is a secondary need. Despite the importance of investment, we need to at least meet our basic needs before talking about investing. Of course we can cut down the money we spend on food, live in affordable homes and avoid very expensive designer clothes and extravagant life styles, so we can have enough left to invest. We need to eat so we can be alive and in good health to enjoy investment benefits.
2205  Economy / Economics / Re: Why you should use spare money to invest on: May 16, 2023, 01:06:36 PM
Snip~
So the bottom line is, invest what you can afford to lose in Bitcoin and other investments because the risk associated with investment is not only limited to Bitcoin alone but all other assets and investments.

Let me tell you a real-life story, I have a friend from whom I received the same amount as payment for our overtime travel work sometime last year 2022, and when we wanted to invest the money, he optioned into real estate because he feel it more secure and profitable than bitcoin, but I used my whole allowance and travel payment to buy more bitcoin.

At that time, the Bitcoin price was around 17k, but now, while my friend in real estate is waiting for tenants to rent his apartments, my own Bitcoin investment is already yielding of about 10 percent.

I agree with you that it is not investing what you can loose, but making extensive research before investigate. If you carry out your feasibility study well and truly find out that a business is profitable, then why invest spare money. I'm not saying that you should put all your money in it, but if you believe in the investment, then you can put in something substantial to invest in the business. Business is all about risk taking.
2206  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Our hospitas dy do our sick piple well or not? Wetin be your take? on: May 16, 2023, 12:03:41 PM
Our health sector nah place wey I been think say go really help sick dying piple for this our contri but when e vex me pass nah when them make me lose person wey I no fit forget even if I dy inside hurri. How doctors go see person wey dy die or wey wan die the first thing to ask nah moni, go to the cashier and pay this sum of amount like say them use moni take create the person, I see no reason why moni go come first before human being life.
And if you pay the moni and them see say them no fit revive (abeg sorry I no know how I take speak that English) I mean if them no fit keep that sick person alive nah to ask you to go do another thing wey concern moni make e be say them collect you finish. When my fada die for one hospita for PH here, them know say no way oxygen just dy do off and on like NEPA light wey no get current but them still collect 20k even send my broda to wear gloves, them make the guy become doctor by force.

Another annoying thing be say the oxygen wey them get no even fit hold person life till the next day, I no understand if nah gas them refill half way. E get some hospita wey you go enter but when you dy come back nah maleria you go carry come back. Who I wan blame for so many lives wey don kick pocket all in the name of feeling less concern by doctors and nurses? Becos I no go say nah government oh becos government no go say as doctor make you first collect moni before you treat person wey him mata serious pass to change old notes or to even get fuel, nah life first and doctors get plenty explanation to give us why them choose moni over life.

I no wan talk again, make una tell us una experience, why all these things dy happen for hospita and who we fit hold say nai be the cos, na government or the doctors... Make una chuk mouth...

Who no get money for this life, especially for Africa, and particularly for Nigeria, I believe say bad thing do am. Because to get quality healthcare, dey very expensive anywhere in the world. So i believe say na em make  governments all over the world dey build them own hospitals. I de reason say for developed countries, people fit to go for government hospital and get better healthcare treatment. But for naija, no be so, dem go tell you the medicine wey go buy, so if you no fit to afford to buy am, dem go abandon the patent. If em die, e no concern dem. And the attendants for our government hospitals dey de very rude. Coming to private hospitals, dem no send you, na business dem open, just like other businesses anywhere. Before dem go admit any sick person you must make deposit first, even if the person dey die, e no concern dem. As the treatment dey progress, dem go dey demand for more money, so the moment money stop to enter, treatment go also stop.

I believe say our doctors and our hospitals in general, dem no dey too try, because to save life na I'm suppose be their main priority. I know say e dey important to pay for their services, because dem get family to feed too. But the profession wey dem choose demand say make dem go put human life first before money.
2207  Economy / Economics / Re: How do banks generate income? on: May 15, 2023, 08:03:03 PM
Bank is an establishment known for financial services but what they do these days is way more than that. And the things they do are both legal and illegal, still, they cover up under the guise of the legality that covers the sector.

Mind you, you forgot to add that;

1. They launder money.
2. They broker onshore and offshore deals (both legally and illegally).
3. They steal money from customers' accounts through double and unexplainable charges.
4. They blackmail their customers and steal the money of the faint in heart.
    And many more...

There is a lot that will always make me sceptical of banks.

Traditionally, banks make money from interest in money that they lend to people and organisations, and charges on services rendered. But the way that banks are building modern structures as  branches everywhere, buying brand new cars for their marketers, paying attractive salaries to their staff and declaring large profits every year, makes you to wonder whether it is mainly from interests on money borrowed and the small charges on transactions that they make all this money from. Although I hear often about unconfirmed reports that they help corrupt politicians to keep and launder I'll gotten wealths.

Having said all this, I still think that banks remain the safest place where you can keep your money. Because they never tell you that there is no money whenever you come to collect.
2208  Economy / Economics / Re: Retirement Age for Workers - Does this Make Sense? on: May 15, 2023, 04:49:09 PM
some people might think differently, it's everyone's right whether they still want to work after retiring from their last place of work because there is already an age limit for that.
and also there are many activities that can be done after retirement for example trading farming, fishing, or any other activity that I think has no age limit while you can still do it.

I agree that it's people's right to decide whether to continue to work after retirement. It becomes their decision to make since they are no longer employed to anyone. If you are an employee, you must know that your employer is the one that will make decisions about your work, including when he feels that you are due for retirement. You don't have much choice when the employee wants to review salary or retirement age. So going further, I also agree that it is good that an employee that wants to continue work after retirement should have plan for a business that has no age limit, as you rightly mentioned.
2209  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How we go deal with police brutality for our country on: May 15, 2023, 03:30:03 PM
This matter just tire me so I say make I post am.. The way police dey worry youth for road whether you get car or not as long as say you be guy..Them don assume say you dey do yahoo.. Person no go fit drive car or use expensive things again for this country..
Abeg make una help join mouth for this matter...
Police brutality  has been a problem  world wide and especially  for Nigeria  government, police  always  trying  to extort money from civilians and issue of bribe, thank God for the power of social media i saw a video  of police  harassing a young man and a video was recorded  and until later  the police man was dismissed  on a national  TV since they started making  examples  out of them it  will help stop all this  rubbish, the annoying  aspect  of it all is that they feel all young  men do fraud which is a very bad perception but I give a toms up for the inspector general of police.

Wetin you talk na true, the harassment no be here. For Nigeria, the law dey only apply for the poor masses, because if police arrest big men or their family members, them go just call one commissioner of police and the case don close, unless na big man versus big man. Them say bail na free, but make them arrest you, carry you go police station, person wey come bail you must pay money, unless you call one force person

One day for FESTAC i see police people  just come down from them motor, begin dey drag one young guy inside them motor
The boy start  to resist, na so them begin to beat the am, eventually them push am enter the sienna, and drive away. If the young man no be suspect and dem treat am like criminal, e dey very bad.
The thing move me to intervene for the matter before them drive off, but who I be, dem go end up arresting me join the guy, îîand if I no get person wey go bring money to bail me, my name go be sorry. Na fear make me no record them, because them dey see me, assuming say I record, them go intimidate me, collect my phone to hide evidence and arrest me
I don see am happen well well. We need serious police reform for this Nigeria.

2210  Economy / Economics / Re: Are you Spending Money the Wrong Way in Pursuit of Happiness? on: May 14, 2023, 08:50:15 PM
I'd say if spending money doesn't make you happy maybe you're all spending it wrongly, even though all the advices above seems good, but I think important what makes one happy isn't necessarily coming from textbook advices like this. Just spend whatever you want, one might be happy enough when they can buy some good cars, not necessarily need good experience, everyone differ to each other.
someone else might also be happy by spending their money for buying luxury goods, it's all relative. but what matters most is that, an individual will be really happy when they got their basic needs settled. it's the most important thing, then the other thing comes after that.

I agree with you that what gives  people happiness is relative, because our likings are different. Spending to see other people's happy is good, but another person's happiness may come from clubbing and care free life style. I think that a set of rules can not define true happiness for everyone. Different believes determines true happiness for people, and also what gives them true happiness in spending their money.
2211  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Tinubu first 100 days in office, what do you expect? on: May 14, 2023, 06:01:23 PM
Is there any seer that you know among us?

True talk my Oga, we no fit to see the future. But my prediction be say em go try to prove critics wrong by performing well. Me I no be Tinubu fan, but the truth be say em don get experience well well for Nigerian politics. So if em really want to perform and turn Nigerian economy for the better, em get the experience. Although wetin we suppose to concentrate now na whether them go swear am in, because the matter still dey for court. Last last, you no go fit trust politicians finish, until you see them performance.
2212  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is every body absolutly responsible for the outcome of his or her future? on: May 14, 2023, 04:30:02 PM
Of course everyone has to be responsible for himself, changing times cannot be used as an excuse for someone to be irresponsible because of the many stories about changing times that sometimes don't look good anymore there are still many people who live responsibly even though the environment around them doesn't look good. The person lives his/her days very disciplined and has targets for what he wants to achieve in his/her life, maybe he/she doesn't see a role model or gets support from his/her family to achieve success but he/she can do it by living discipline and doing everything that is his/her responsibility well and the results he/she can enjoy as a successful person.
Technology can be two different things for each person, it can be destructive and also helpful if it is used properly, even though people around us use technology and do not provide benefits, but if we want to learn it, it will help us achieve success in life.

I agree with you that everybody has to be responsible for themselves, the decisions that they make goes a long way to determine the outcome of their future. Ignorance is not an excuse, if you make a mistake, you will have to pay for the price of the mistake. This is why we need to be very wise, seek for opportunities to better our lives. Example is the social media, some people engage in it just to pass time, while others are using it to make money and better their lives. We should not let past experiences or other people's shortcomings to stop us from aspiring for a better life. Giving excuses or blaming others or the government will not better our lives, because people in similar predicaments have made it in life. J
2213  Economy / Economics / Re: How do feels losing money? on: May 14, 2023, 11:25:50 AM
Some days looks like a curse day, I wanted to keep it to myself but I felt it more reasonable to share. I involved in some business investment which initially the promise was really good after week of deal, I just back from work, I saw a call from my colleague we did the business together and I call back to hear him crying on phone. That the business we involved into is fake and the office is close, the MD has disappeared, for two minutes I was shivering with sweat because that's the highest amount I have involved business so far. Am regretting to have used in bitcoin by now I would have be on advantage with bullish price.

I have not gotten myself this days. Do you feel down when such sudden hits happens to you?

I know the feeling, it's heart breaking, because money is not easy get. I lost a lot of money some years back. I wasn't scamed, it was just a wrong business decision. I was looking for a new shop to expand my business, and I saw one that has the kind of space that I needed and it was cheap. Without thinking I rushed and made payment, without considering the location, that it was not suitable for my kind of business. I spent money again putting the place in order, borrowed money from microfinance to stock the shop. After one year of very poor sales, I had to close down the business.

It affected my business capital negatively, because I wasted money on rent and decoration , was repaying bank loan, utility bills and staff. In the end I became worse off than when I started the business. So I personally knows how it feels to lose money, it's very painful.
2214  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Presidential election tribunal on: May 14, 2023, 08:18:53 AM
The thing be say Nigerians don loose hope for our leaders, in fact we no trust them again. Who fit blame us? Them no dey trustworthy, you go see corrupt politicians go steal money, evidence go dey say true true them commit the crime, them go carry them go court, at the end of the day nothing go happen, the case go just die like that. Na im de make we ordinary Nigerians de reason say politicians de bribe judges.

So for this election tribunal matter wey de for ground now, based on say we no trust the judiciary, especially for matters wey concern big politicians, we de reason say them go dey biased, to favor who bribe pass. But make we no judge them finish, make we just allow them to do dem work, hoping say them go get conscience and integrity to carry out them duty.
2215  Economy / Economics / Re: How to increase profit in business on: May 13, 2023, 03:19:31 PM

Please feel free to drop your own ideas on how to increase profit in businesses.

I think one of the most important things in this business is that similar products can be found in every price range. If a customer refuses to buy a product because it is expensive, we should be able to say that a similar product is of lower quality but at a lower price. In this way, we sell a product in our store. If we tried to sell products at a single price, we would not be able to sell products to this customer. Our aim should not be to send the incoming customer empty-handed. A customer who leaves without buying anything is a big loss for that store.

It is good to stock close substitute of every product in your shop, meaning different brands of the same product. So customers can make choice  depending on price or preferred brand. I know from experience in business that customers love making choices. They will prefer to go to a shop where they will see varieties of the type of goods that they want to buy. The customer is happy and the seller is selling and making profit. A win win for everyone.
2216  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Wetin dey sweet your belle for this crypto journey since you start on: May 13, 2023, 01:17:23 PM
My people, since everybody don dey join crypto for our country, e sure for me say many of them no understand how e be, na just profit and money dey enter their eye. Make una tell us wetin una don experience wey also spoil una belle make we learn from una wealth of experience. Newbie for crypto make una come hear from senior men

2217  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: The Latest Ponzi Scheme in Town, pls Avoid it. on: May 13, 2023, 11:32:19 AM
Thank you for sharing this information here. I have taken note of it. From time I have always been cautious about ponzi or any other get rich quick syndrome. Because I always reason that if it is real, that you will invest a very small amount of money, and almost immediately you will start to earn very huge amount of money, that it will not be advertised on social media, they won't even tell their friends about it.

Last year a very good friend told me about one, said that he has earned very big profit  from it, that I should just give him my details, I did and he invested for me. He sent a link to me and in it I'm supposed to buy and be feeding animals in a ranch. He invested for a few other people. Unfortunately he lost all the huge amount that he reinvested for himself and us. And I believe that many other people who got paid and reinvested heavily lost everything, because the the ponzi never paid again.he
2218  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What are the possible solutions of underdeveloped countries problems? on: May 12, 2023, 02:47:51 PM
In my personal point of view, a country and it's current state (politically, socially and economically) is a reflection of its people.
If you want to change a country, then one needs to change the way of thinking of people, show them that crime has consequences, both common ones and white collar. Show that efficiency is important and work/education is the rock bottom for a better future.

With all due respect to your view in this topic, i don't think that you are from Africa. Most of the countries in Africa are underdeveloped today because of bad leadership, corruption in high places.

The people at the top that are supposed to show that  crime has consequences are themselves the most corrupt. What about a case where the citizens have made up their minds to elect someone whom they know that has integrity, on election day, millions of people came out and voted. At the end of the day election is rigged and another known corrupt politician emerges winner. If you complain you are  either arrested and put in jail or intimidated. The solution to underdeveloped countries problems should be to put qualified people who don't have corrupt records to lead. Most of the underdeveloped countries problems are man-made, therefore it will take the right man to bring about change. Although I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Japanese people suffered huge economical suppression, two atomic bombs, a lost war and their country does not have as much productive land as many African nations.
But their way of thinking and their work culture allow them to defeat any obstacle.

If the mindset changes, people would not tolerate corruption or crime, so there would be more safety and money for the common good of all.
2219  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is money ruling the world? on: May 12, 2023, 08:43:44 AM
They say that money is the root of all evil, yet even good people struggle and make efforts to get it. It is so because money answers all things. It is only a fool that says that money is not important. Without money life is meaningless because even the three basic human needs food, shelter and clotting requires money to get and maintain them.

Money rules the world because you can exchange it for anything that you need. Be it healthcare , food, luxury, influence, power. Without money there is No way that you can enjoy life. However you can not underscore integrity, money can not buy it.
2220  Economy / Economics / Re: How to increase profit in business on: May 11, 2023, 10:51:24 PM
Well, it depends on what type of goods, items and products you are trading ( selling and buying ) , also the stock quantity is essential too, the more you  have, the bigger the gain. In addition to that, it is necessary to prepare a solid and professional business plan before you even start , it must contain an effective business strategy and key aims. It really helps to attract investors. In fact, you must  have a futuristic vision. Regarding your question, you will be able to increase your gain when you build an effective marketing strategy and work on it. Unfortunately, a plenty of entrepreneurs don’t give a value to marketing, they end up failing despite they have  solid projects and potential to succeed.

A good business plan is key to succeed in business. Because if you fail to plan, then you plan to fail. As you have noted, a business person needs to build an effective business strategy that has to work, in order to maximize profit. A plan which must include extensive marketing of the goods or services. I say this because popular brands like coca cola, still advertise there products despite people knowing and consuming the products for decades. I used to Wonder why, until I was tutored that out of sight is out of mind.
