2202  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Goldman & Sachs to host a meeting about Inflation, Gold and Bitcoin on: May 25, 2020, 02:54:55 PM
Even that shows the seriousness, if they want to bash bitcoin in front of their customers! There are 3 things that can happen for an organization, especially in financial sector -

1. They will feel threatened - the way JPM chase looked at it and later decided to embrace the change and allowed cyrpto exchanges to open banking account with JPM.
2. They will see opportunity - there are many companies embraced bitcoin for better. CME group is the front runner of it who had created a bitcoin ETF.
3. They will stay neutral - A majority of the financial institutions have chosen this route.

However, I think bitcoin is now too big to be ignored. Slowly but surely every companies in financial sector will have to consider bitcoin or bitcoin linked investment products.
Or perhaps they're waiting for the moment national cryptocurrencies turn into reality to see what happens to BTC and other cryptos. They sure do know stuff we don't yet. Don't you think Bitcoin will become a threat to national cryptos once they are released? I mean, it's going to be centralized cryptos with crappy inflation vs Bitcoin with decreasing inflation.

They better come out with something smart or sooner or later Bitcoin might take the leadership, it's growing to unseen levels indeed Smiley
2203  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Goldman & Sachs to host a meeting about Inflation, Gold and Bitcoin on: May 25, 2020, 12:57:42 PM
Assets under management globally for Goldman Sachs - 1.8 trillion USD in 2019.

They are clearly one of the giants in global financial markets. However, holding a conference call with their clients literally means nothing for bitcoin. But I am happy to see that global financial giants have started taking bitcoin little more seriously.
Will they let spectators in or is it a private conference? I'd rather believe they'll talk about the dangers Bitcoin implies over their corporation than believe they're looking forward to doing something positive about it.

I'm very paranoid when it comes to corporations and banks and their "good willing", especially when it comes to the latter.
2204  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to Differentiate Between Trader and Investor on: May 25, 2020, 12:37:34 PM
In most cases, yes. Lenght of holding in the major difference between investors and traders.
But then I guess an investor could be considered a trader as well, based solely on their actions: they buy and they sell, right? They could buy for their retirement portfolio or .. they could buy now and tomorrow, if BTC dips to $5k, they might sell out of fear. Why do you think there's not much of a difference them?

I'd take it another way to differentiate the two: traders follow charts, investors follow potential.

Investors sure do care whether the price grows or not, but they mostly rely on how much potential of growth some asset/stock has, studying it. Traders mostly do chart analysis and care about the exact time a pump happens so they could cash in. There's long term trading as well, so if we rely only on length of investment/trading.. we'd mistake one for another.

So thats a nice thing to see of Apple, offer it but don't enable it by default and force it onto its users.
It's partially forced from Apple too, as you will probably never be able to update your device again to a newer, better-looking and more secure OS without having to also get the COVID update.

Google's update might actually be easier to back out from as it only requires the Services update reversal (although IIRC, you some apps become obsolete without the latest version of Google Services).

What annoys me is the fact that they add these things without ever letting you know that "hey, this is something new we added inside your device!". I, for one, don't agree with contact tracing be it anonymous or not, so I would never want to have even the basic stuff of it inside my phone.
2206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi isn't that rich. on: May 25, 2020, 12:08:24 PM
~

The idea of him dumping on Yobit or handing everything over to Jamie Dimon is laughable. I fully expect no identifiable coin of his will ever move.

But if I were another early miner I would have moved and stirred my coins as soon as it became clear that the train had left the station. The intense scrutiny of the coins I was about to blow on a Lego Millennium Falcon as a reward for my patience would give me an ulcer.
As he wouldn't ever use a centralized exchange to cash in his potential fortune, we also wouldn't even notice a thing in the markets in case he decides to sell besides the scared weak hands thinking selling the first coins means the end of Bitcoin.

Never done a smart contract with locktime on BTC so I am really wondering whether you could set a locktime for your mined coins and if yes, if that would be transparent for anyone to see or only the miner would know. If I was an early miner, maybe that's something I would've done if I ever wanted to force myself not to move anything for a long while.

I had the thought a few times to set a locktime on my txs in order to forcefully control my emotions when I was a very weak hand, but what made me back out of that idea is the fact that in case Bitcoin ever dies with very clear signs of it, I'd be forced not to move anything and watch my balance and Bitcoin's price effectively die out right in front of my eyes.

2208  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi isn't that rich. on: May 24, 2020, 07:28:07 PM
I see an insane number of topics about Satoshi popping up every few hours and I wonder how long it'll be before they are considered nonsense threads .. +95% of the stuff people "know" about Satoshi is just potential truth nobody has proof for. CShitW is the best example.

It's quite silly and annoying how people desperately hope Satoshi lost his coins (if they are even his) or will never sell.

Like God damn it, he created this thing that made many, many people richer, revolutionized tech and saved lives in some 3rd world countries and you hope he never gets a buck out of his supposed fortune because it may drop your $50 wallet balance by half a buck. That's such a f'ed up way of thinking.
2209  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Average Weekly Investment on: May 24, 2020, 06:55:59 PM
I suspect it's the halving. Knowing all the stuff related to BTC as a trader takes time, most traders going for stocks, fiat & crypto rely solely on charts and news they catch on-air.

As always, around halving time there's lots of hype so the word was spread around easily and quickly. As both previous halvings ended up in a very large profit, that might be the most logical explanation.
2210  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Best Crypto Idea to Explore. on: May 24, 2020, 03:58:00 PM
Most awesome ideas are in the works or are on hold as the minds behind them may not have the necessary resources to fulfill them.

I think we've seen most of the concepts out there and there isn't very much more you can do (except non-affordable ideas) with the existing technology we have. As far as I can see, most new platforms become successful or not based on how convenient they turn in time for their own customers.
2211  Other / Off-topic / Re: #DeGoogle - Take back control of your privacy on: May 24, 2020, 03:46:58 PM
Does the Playstore have access to your location?

I don't have an android phone, but I thought you can give each app permissions?
I would personally not rely on those little switches in our phone settings. I'm very suspicious when it comes to them - as they are not physical switches, a little coding backdoor could give you only the impression that you've turned the permissions on. And honestly, I believe Google has control over your phone at any time.

We have some news now:

Apple has launched a software update for iOS which includes the basic stuff needed for contact tracing apps. In other words... this thread now has even more substance.

The problem is that, while iOS has an optional software update, Google introduced the basic stuff needed for contact tracing without asking you for your permission. If your phone has had Google Play Services updated recently (and I believe it's done automatically), you most likely have the contact tracing stuff in your phone already.

To check if you do, you only need to do 3 steps:
 1. Open your phone's Settings
 2. Look for the "Google" settings, open them
 3. If the opening window shows some COVID-19 exposure settings, you have the update in your phone.

One more reason to forever and completely abandon Google. No offense but fuck them. Smiley

Foarte tare articolul! Felicitari

 1. Deschideti Setarile din telefon
 2. Cautati rubrica "Google", apasati pe ea
 3. Daca in fereastra deschisa vedeti ceva legat de notificari pentru expunerea la COVID-19, aveti actualizarea in telefon.

No offense but fuck them. Smiley
Sad

Pacat. Smiley
2214  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gold Medalist Bought Bitcoin on: May 24, 2020, 01:28:15 PM
Advertisement from Binance or not, did the tweet attract some of her fans to BTC or not? It did, and that's what matters. We've seen a lot of celebrities and known personalities get into BTC or somehow advertise it (paid or not) in the recent years, and that speaks words.

I think advertising BTC is a risky thing itself anyway, a risk you have to assume - you don't want hoards of fans come in and insult your family every tweet for making them lose money, which makes me think she might've done some research herself beforehand.
2215  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Online Timer with sound for timing your posting interval! on: May 24, 2020, 12:58:09 PM
It's quite suspicious if someone asks for a posting interval timer indeed. I can't see a reason I'd use such function unless I have to post every X minutes and be reminded for it.. besides the case in which I'd want to avoid burstposting. Roll Eyes

2217  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why would anyone want to use a paper wallet with raw private key? on: May 24, 2020, 01:36:31 AM
I'm blessed for having used Coinomi with my paper wallets and emptying them out every time before even knowing change address was a thing.

I felt like they could be compromised without even having to go through any flaw: a hacker may gain access to my camera and easily use my privkey at any time. Paper wallets should have a little warning sign on them to know what you shouldn't do.
2218  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Slots are better than Dice. on: May 24, 2020, 12:41:16 AM
Ah, here we go again - the old "I prefer this game as it gives me more chances to win". I came to the conclusion that any game you play and any strategy you choose, gambling is gambling and changing payouts (or going for longer sessions) only change the length of the timeline before you bust.

It all really comes down to personal preferences. You could bet 10BTC and hope for a $1.2k easy win with a 98% chance of winning and bust instead within the first try. That's an insta-bust. On the other hand, you could bet a satoshi with some "better strat" and bust within 24h of non-stop autobets. The only difference is the session length.
2219  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Tech Apocalypse, AI, Tolkien, and Elon Musk on: May 23, 2020, 01:43:32 PM
It's kind of ironic how the guy who invented Neuralink is the same guy who says he's concerned about AI. Perhaps he knows something about the way humans could evolve with his new Neuralink?

Humans with AI sure do look like a very creepy future, and it's going to turn into reality in a matter of months if Musk proceeds with his plan of implanting the first chip before the end of the year. It could have some very strange effects on humans and that really does scare me. If I decide to take the implanted chip, how do I ever know that chip doesn't take over my brain and cancel all my abilities, hence making me become basically trapped inside my own body with no way of taking back the control?

If his Neuralink AI consists in auto-learning and will give us the ability of communicating non-verbally, doesn't this mean the chip will be able to communicate with other chips and, one day, they could auto-teach each other to overtake humanity?

I'm just not sure this is the right path we're taking. When I think of it in-depth, it scares me. If we take a look back at relics and all the ancient symbols of astronauts and etc, what if this is similar to the last advancement in technology the last advanced race before us was able to achieve before they self-destroyed.. How will you know that, when you talk to me while I have the chip linked to my brain, you're communicating with me and not with the artificial brain inside me?

The chip being linked to our brain means it'd be able to make us see things that aren't real.. perhaps fooling us into thinking we've discovered a new dimension with other beings while, in fact, that's all only inside our brain.

This is a new level we're taking science to and I personally fear we're going to enter a phase of science we create but cannot understand.
2220  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin movements, possibly owned by Satoshi. on: May 23, 2020, 01:17:01 PM
Well maybe they thought that since he creates bitcoins which helps many people financially but we don't really know if he's kind or what, the only thing we know about him is just a little, No once can even show if satoshi is girl or a boy, And also I agree with you there's no problem if he move that since he have the right to do on his creation and its little percentage of holdings, But if he dump 1000BTC in one day well we can say there's something bad going on.
If he dumps the entire million in an hour, it'd be my time to shine and hoard all coins possible. As soon as you're hodling, it'd be just a little upside down spike you see on your account balance. If you don't sell in panic, you may not even feel it. In fact, you don't lose anything as long as you don't sell.

I'm really wondering whether those hodling are hodling for real if they fear such an event. If that million ever proves to be Satoshi's, then this is a risk that's going to be out there forever. If Satoshi doesn't plan to sell his coins, maybe his grandchildren will.
