PPC has a good crack at takeing over in the long term

also very good community
2202  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: GREAT idea to spread the BTC gospel!! Give a very little bit away on facebook!! on: December 06, 2013, 07:10:25 AM
this idea has merit

The only thing is, people who don't understand btc may not be sufficently motivated to learn about private keys, public keys etc etc...and so the loose it all.

You sort of have to be self motivated to really get into it. A lot of these BTC would be lost forever.

We still need a killer app for BTC
2203  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't panic, China is NOT banning bitcoin on: December 05, 2013, 09:14:59 AM
there's too much money to be made the Chinese govt will find a way to make to all work, as key players in it will be recipients.

more interestingly this is a positive sign that the CNY govt feels it is *this* serious

Satoshi calling and I know have your global attention

2205  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinMarketCap.com - Market Cap Rankings of All Cryptocurrencies! on: December 05, 2013, 12:29:26 AM
you can work out some sort of real market cap etc by using velicty of money and depth.

The problem is if I release a crtpto with 1 Trillion coins and get 1 b or two buys at 0.001 BTC I now have a market cap over 1e 12 x 1-e5  = 1e9 = $1 billion.

you need some sort of velocity of money
2206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: December 04, 2013, 10:30:57 PM
how does

* Super secure hashing: 9 rounds of hashing from 6 hashing functions (blake, bmw, groestl, jh, keccak, skein). 3 rounds apply a random hashing function.

make it more secure?

is it theoretical quantum proof?Huh

2207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / WSJ hits on the typical layman issues, what the masses want 4 adoption on: December 04, 2013, 10:21:30 PM
Ok so just read the WSJ on Quark
http://online.wsj.com/article/HUG1747585.html?dsk=y

The article can only be written because in a way it is a criticism on BTC

They repeatedly hit on

Faster confirms

But fail to mention this is traded for security, but people just want to hear "faster"

More units, so easy to understand to buy 1 not fractional implied, can the BTC community just go to satoshi already and we can clean the board and bring up adoption over night....its a news story as well. By the time we finish arguing about uBit, its already to expensive, people need to feel they are getting more than 1 whole thing for their $1

finally
http://bitcoinity.org/markets
is formally going to at least mbits

CPU mining so anyone can do it....no mention of bot nets

Can some one write to WSJ and put them right on these 2

more secure 9 rounds of hashing....I don't know if this is true or not to improve security, does it?Huh does it defeat a theoretical quantum attack???

I think qrk maybe good or maybe a flash in the pan, but they have got somethings right, also bill still apears to be milking his followers after bashing crypto's for so long and realizing he was wrong
2208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinMarketCap.com - Market Cap Rankings of All Cryptocurrencies! on: December 04, 2013, 06:57:55 PM

2209  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / change addresses? on: December 04, 2013, 12:02:19 PM
has/does the QT wallet always used change addresses?

i have noticed that when I send some BTC a change address is not used

is there a flag to switch this on and off?

thanks in advance
2210  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Encrypted wallet and dump priv key on: December 04, 2013, 11:34:18 AM
Wallet can be unlocked from a debug console by using the following command:
walletpassphrase <passphrase> <timeout>
After that you can dump your private keys.

See: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/How_to_import_private_keys

thanks!

so what about shareholders are they getting anything yet? I mean they were supposed to get a % of profits, then the hack, then nothing now the % is being given away to deposit holders.

also please fix your graphs, eg crypsy or even your own crypto exchange
2212  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Reducing the need for cold storage through self-blacklisting on: December 04, 2013, 10:14:15 AM
yeah no one issue with this is

"to instantly unblacklist all the coins, transfer all the coins"

the attacker just has a script ruining all the time trying to transfer your coins, as soon as you "un blacklist" he transfer, your left with nothing.

All you have done is made your coins useless to you.
2213  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Encrypted wallet and dump priv key on: December 04, 2013, 09:42:18 AM
when you have encrypted a wallet

If you use a password, can you put it into an un-ecrypted state by leaving the new password as blank

Can you then dumpprivkey?

if not how can you dumpprivkey for an encrypted wallet

will pywallet do this if you enter the password somewhere?

Thanks in advance

whats going on with dgex I login and it does not load, then I press a link and it flick for a second to my account then goes to this funny box
Box? Could you get a screenshot please?

Gorgorom there is only one 500k payment from you even though our blockchain now seems to be up to date? I have removed the pending deposit so you should be free to withdraw while this is cleared.

Please provide details of the transaction / blockchain URL if you think the 500k has been stuck.
