2221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][QBC] Québecoin - X11 - DGW - (BITTREX) - Win/Mac/Linux Wallets - New on: May 18, 2014, 11:23:34 PM
It would be cool to have a website where new adopters can easily buy QBC with fiat (payment by Paypal) like this one here for Doges: weselldoges.com

I continue to try new ways of buying BTC to transfer to Cryptsy, Mintpal and Bittrex. Today I bought 6$ worth of BTC using my Master Card through bitsource.org.

Why am I spending so little? Because I am broke and don't have much tolerance for loss Smiley

My transaction cost USD 6.47 Then I bought BTC which I sent myself.
Order: #41277525, buy QtyTot: 0.013393, QtyRem: 0, ProdPair: BTCUSD @ 447.984

Bitsource is in Panama and they use Payeer.com with a info stamp of MOSCOWxxx

The process is complicated and convoluted but the whole experience was low fee and quick.

Marie-Lynn

I would expect something like coinbase the easiest way to get bitcoin... why are you doing the credit card or paypal thing?

Someone above mentioned weselldoges... if their exchange rates aren't too terrible and they aren't a ripoff, one could simply buy $3-$4 doge, exchange it for btc, then use it to buy QBC. It's hardly ideal, but for small orders probably isn't too bad.

Or sign up for one of the many freebie coin giveaways here, wait a while, sell the freebie coin for btc... use the btc for QBC if you want. Things like comm coin, ITC, etc. were worth several btc if you got full stakes-- not bad for free.

Like you've said, we really don't want dormant issues to start popping up a month or a year down the road, hence why seriouscoins and the rest of our team has been delaying this wallet the past week or two.

Aside from this wallet issue, we have the rest of the team working on upgrades to our current releases, to add significantly more content and resources for our users. In the works are also a charity project, merchant program, and one of our new members has several of his personal projects in the works that he would like to share with XBC.

We understand the concerns and will get a member to check this thread more often to answer questions and give updates. It's really helpful to us when members such as yourself vocalize your opinions and concerns in a professional manner, as it shows that our community cares and wants to see this project grow. Smiley

I've said it before, but the biggest mistake the team made was asking people to send coins to poloniex. It got people's hopes up that the wallet would be made available immediately... as normally coins that do a swap-over only when the new wallet is ready to go. People can be insanely impatient at times, any delay to them is a catastrophe or just more fuel for trolls.

Those other projects, that casino thingy, merchant program and all of that is what should be talked about here in the forum, not just irc. When teams are silent, people just assume the worst.

Personally, I think coinpayments and moolah should be targets. If you get those, you can then use XBC on lots of other merchant sites, not even counting ones you set up yourself.

Is darksend working?

Yes, of course it is. I think he also added zerocoin on top of that. It's also Ethereum compatible as a bonus.
*throws out buzz words*

Darksend isn't even opensourced, as stated by others already. It's impossible for it to be implemented. And no guarantee it will ever be implemented. The dev obviously put that in the ann to just get people to buy in.

you guys should be spamming this thread with every update and tidbit from IRC...
exactly how I feel about this situation...

Why not update the OP in this thread? (If they can update it) if not...get the word out...the XBC IRC channel is not enough.

If more people knew about this the price of XBC would be at around .02 right now at the very least.

I'm not so sure about spamming  this thread, but the dev and committee members should use this forum for communication more than IRC, in my opinion. Nothing wrong with using both, but it's dangerous to rely too much on IRC -- most people here won't be using IRC or have a clue in regard to what is planned or new things.

Although I'd like to see the wallet out and whatever is planned talked about more, at least things should be wrapped up soonish (I hope). I'd rather the wallet work  when released, than dragged out with bugs forever. Look at Clean Water coin for an example of what occurs when things go poorly ... I think they are like on their 3rd wallet, several developers, over a month of issues, and they still have wallet problems. Spend extra time now, and then no worries later.
2225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NEM] Refund request, change account request, and other complaint thread on: May 18, 2014, 01:03:07 AM
Everyone who wants to be refunded seem to have <10 posts?

Wondered about that too. And I think the refunds for some are like  .045-.06 btc? I don't get why anyone wouldn't just wait and if they want that mighty large amount back, just sell a bit off after it goes live.

Since many are wondering and probably thought "Why so many refund requests ? is Nem developers going to run off soon ?", I should explain that all refunds so far are "forced" refunds since the accounts did not make it to the final list.

That makes more sense then. I guess some puppet accounts applied early on, or something like that... or just inactive people. Otherwise I didn't get why people would ask for refunds on such small amounts to begin with.

Red flag? this coin was trading at 500 Satoshis 4 or 5 days ago, now its at 10000 and you trust your red flags?

Good luck in missing the train

I'm not sure if you read my post, but I already said I bought in when it was cheaper. Not 500 sats cheap, but around the half the price it currently is. I didn't get much... but it's some.  I also sold enough to more than cover my costs.

I primarily was pointing out the fact that insane hype posting, in giant fonts, is the sort of thing that tends to scare people away.
2228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LIBERTYCOIN][XLB] X11 | 100% POS | No IPO | No Premine | Now on Mintpal on: May 17, 2014, 10:07:31 PM

Your posts have ensured I buy absolutely none of this, just putting that out there.

Heh, I was thinking the same thing. I bought a small amount of XLB early on, sold it for less than I should have (still, profit is profit). Bought a bit more as it was starting to move up from MP hype, sold some of it at double what I paid, and am holding a very small amount of XLB now. The coin may go up in price, but I'm not buying in at current levels. I'm the type that likes to see talented devs, unique features, or at least something that makes me think a coin is a safe bet -- or at the very least, a safe short term bet. The fact that this dev and the dreamcoin guy tried to make people believe zerocoin could be incorporated, is a red flag to me.

And a nutter screaming 'BUY' in giant fonts doesn't exactly reassure me. He sounds like a used car salesman with a shotgun pointed at a customer, screaming 'BUY! BUY! BUY!'.

Dear community I have a question. I brought Liberty at a reasonable price. I wanted to know if I were to transfer my coins from Bittrex to Mintpal will I still have my profit (that shows on Bittrex) or will the transfer show I got my coins at Mintpal current prices. I don't want to lose my profit.
You will transfer the amount of coins you see in bittrex. If that's what you're asking?

I brought a majority of my coins at 26XX on Bittrex. I want to know if I were to transfer my coins to Mintpal will it know that I brought it for that price?

Other exchanges will have no idea what you purchased a coin at. But why does that matter? So long as you know, that is all that counts.

The same number of coins will be moved from Bittrex to MP. Your profit will be the same if you sell (or slightly more or less, depending on differing exchange numbers).

I'm not entirely sure what you are asking. You don't have any actual profit until you sell some of your coins. If you move them to another exchange, and sell there, you'd gain whatever the current selling price is on that particular exchange.
2231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BITTREX.COM] LitecoinPlus (XLC) / fast / green / bounties on: May 17, 2014, 07:55:28 PM
Were there any coins set aside, or put on any exchange besides bittrex?

If not, someone has at least 9% of all coins? Top 10 people have 30%+ of all coins?

It's hard to tell who exactly are the richiest of the rich, due to exchange numbers. I just found it curious that the top people had quite that much. By itself it doesn't mean anything, but if the price does rise to decent numbers, people should be aware that selloffs could be rather drastic. The price is nowhere near that level now, so I wouldn't worry about it ... the rich are just richer than I expected. Thought the numbers would be spread out more.

Top account must be Bittrex exchange and my wallet made more babies yayayya!!! Grin Grin I better try grab a few more cheapos..

Yep, top must be Bittrex, but I wasn't counting that one. I mean the next one... assuming that's not on another exchange, or set aside from original ipo, that person has an awful lot of coins, at 20K. And that assumes he doesn't have any on the exchange, or it'll be even more.

I may be wrong, but why are pledges needed at all? Why isn't any of the ipo money being used for those things? Perhaps my memory is foggy, but didn't the dev say that the funds (or at least some of the funds) raised by the XLC ipo would go towards development?

Either I have entered the twilight zone, have a clone, or a bot is copying my posts... but that is exactly what I posted previously, word for word.

It would be nice to see another exchanger aswell, only bittrex i think it`s not enaught

I've read that Poloniex can be 'bought', so to speak, in other coin threads here. A 1 btc exchange bounty probably would do it.

I realize you (and some here) have a different sort of timescale in mind than most in the cryptoworld is used to, but delay too long and the coin will be perceived as dead. And at that point, it may not matter a whole lot what you do.

What's your definition of a "dead" coin anyway? And who would perceive it as dead?

I think you're still overlooking the point here. The ONLY way this coin would "DIE" was if the internet as we know it died. But then again, I'm sure we would work around that in a record time.

I did say perceived as dead. Technically any coin can live forever so long as the internet exists. As for who would perceive it as dead ... the investors and miners.

And the risk of such perception is a lack of miners, insecure blockchain, exchanges (or one exchange in this case) dropping the coin due to lack of volume, and the price sinking to nothing levels.

It cannot be added now. Smiley

Yep, I know... hence my curiosity why people acted like it could.

Going with a mixer probably makes more sense at this point. It's not ideal, not darksend nor zerocoin, but it's doable.
2237  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LIBERTYCOIN][XLB] X11 | 100% POS | 5 Exchanges | No IPO | No Premine on: May 16, 2014, 06:55:49 AM

Noneone is acting like it can be implemented anymore, we are going to implement just a mixer. Besides, I head rumours that it's going to be open source on May 25th.

If so, that is sooner than I expected. I thought on the 25th they were simply going to do the masternode payment fork ... didn't see anything about opensourcing on that date. But look back one page (or right above where I posted) and you see things like this:

omg  Shocked

with darksend or similar arrive at 100k sat  Cool

We could go much higher than that, but we'd need a really incredible developer.

There were some talks earlier today about new developer coming onboard to implement darksend into libertycoin.

That was what I was referring too... people acting like they can add it now.
2238  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LIBERTYCOIN][XLB] X11 | 100% POS | 5 Exchanges | No IPO | No Premine on: May 16, 2014, 06:49:11 AM
I don't get the darksend talk as it's not even opensourced yet.

A better option may be something like Fedora's coin mixing, which if I recall correctly, wasn't really decentralized... but it's better than nothing.

Darksend is not decentralized either. They promise they'll make it decentralized but it's not yet.

My point being, DarkSend isn't opensourced yet, so why do people act like it can be added?
2239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][QBC] Québecoin - X11 - DGW - (BITTREX) - Win/Mac/Linux Wallets - New on: May 16, 2014, 06:24:01 AM

Sorta back will do, because I sorta never actually left. In the background = I would love a simultaneous release of the QBC multipool + Android wallet with a pre-announcement to generate some hype. The android wallet like I said is hard work, I'm looking into getting some assistance right now from someone better with android development than me (which is not too hard). Those are my two main focuses. The premine is encrypted and secured but not locked up in a provably secure way. But for the moment it doesn't really matter, even if I was evil (which I'm not), I wouldn't ever be tempted to dump the premine (especially not with such low market volume).

So the plan is this. Get Android Wallet + Multipool ready (simultaneous release) ------> Lock up premine 100% securely away from the control of one person -----> Multipool + Android Wallet launch.

That way the premine is locked up before QBC gets boosted up in price.

It's not a terrible plan to release both the android wallet + multipool at the same time, but if the wallet proves an insane hassle, I'd say just go for multipool + premine lockup. I have little concerns about the premine currently, as obviously there is nowhere to sell to even if you wanted. But it's something that could influence price and calm fears a bit amongst some.

I realize you (and some here) have a different sort of timescale in mind than most in the cryptoworld is used to, but delay too long and the coin will be perceived as dead. And at that point, it may not matter a whole lot what you do.
