Was manche so unter schnell und einfach in Bitcoin investieren verstehen ...

haha, lol.

Ich versteh's auch nicht. Aktien kaufen ist auch nicht so einfach wie viele es finden. Man braucht doch tatsächlich einen Broker oder 'ne Bank oder sowas.

Is there a place where I can find coin characteristics? (Mainly max coins in existence, now and in the future, when they are all mined)

Total amount of coins will be 21 million. 10.5 million coins were premined and about 50% of those are now in circulation. I estimate that mined coins till now are roughly 2.5 million so about 7.5-8 million are in circulation. The rest of the premine is currently held by Balduro and we are expecting him to destroy the rest of the coins in the next days. These are rough estimates but I'll be working soon towards getting a more accurate number.

my bitcoin-abe says "coins created: 11,945,138 AUR". I guess this is premined plus regularly mined up to now. So mined coins till now is more like 1.5 million if this is correct.

Thank you, so if I'm correct there will be about 7.5 millions AUR left to mine.

9 million left to mine according to my info.

^ wer weiss.

but that's forgetting human psychology and the hype a 100% price rise will cause. In other words: the halving (reduction of supply) itself is just the ignition, the real momentum comes from increase decrease of supply increase of demand.

is what I meant to say.

corrected my post above.

Pricing is 0.005 BTC per GB with 1 confirmation required every account begins with a balance of 500 MB to get started.

$1.25 per GB? really? wow, that's pricey. Too expensive for me, in fact.

Shit. You're right  I need one more zero .0005 Or 12 cents I'll fix that after work tonight

Ok Wink. That makes more sense. Thanks.

Imho there is no jump to be expected until next halving. Everything else happening is just noise.

I've never seen the halving-drives-bubbles argument fully explained. It seems to me that since we are talking about CCMF price jumps of at least tenfold, and the inflation rate is nowhere near that, then either most bitcoins are immovable or the halving isn't in fact that important.

For example, if we have an inflation rate of 10% per year but investment increases tenfold during the year, then we still get roughly a 9x increase in price. Now if half the coins are immovable, either because they are lost or because for some reason the holders refuse to cash any out, then the effective inflation rate looks more like 20%. If 3/4 of the coins are immobile, then 40%. And if investment only increases by say 4x per year, then I think that's only like a 2.5x price increase during the non-halving years. But 4x vs. 2.5x is still not that much of a difference.

If the halving does make a huge difference, I would have to conclude that it's because few bitcoins actually make it to market for whatever reason. Perhaps it's the Bitcoin Baron's Paradox: "After the first few million dollars, why cash out any more? Fiat currency is a downright dangerous place to park your money!" (It could get frozen, banks could fail, dollar could collapse, etc. Gold has jurisdictional risks. Bitcoin is the ideal place for savings, so even if the price rises there is no reason to cash out very much more.)

I believe the halfing will have strong impact and I think you answered your own question (why?) at least partly: a lot of coins are immobile.

You're looking at inflation rate. Let me offer another way to look at this:

(I'm assuming miners are selling 100% of mined coins for simplicity, the argument works with less)

3600 BTC are mined each day. At current market price that's $900,000 worth. These BTC are being bought every day by demand. Now this selling pressure halves and the demand stays the same. Surely what will happen is the price will rise. In case of constant demand of $900k/day it should rise to 500 USD/BTC (merely double). But neither supply nor demand stay constant in such a scenario: supply is likely to decrease, because miners get to hoard more and most importantly demand will rise. Yes, I know, economic theory says demand should drop with a higher price,... but that's forgetting human psychology and the hype a 100% price rise will cause. In other words: the halving (reduction of supply) itself is just the ignition, the real momentum comes from increase of demand.

It worked last time, I think the Q1 2013 rally was caused (or at least substantially contributed to) by the halfing.

Does this make sense at all or is it wishful thinking?

2236  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: March 25, 2015, 05:12:07 PM
Hw1 and ledger are similar.

Ledger have better casing and a two factor card.

I would chose ledger because it's more resistant, but it's same smartcard chip as HW1.

I have two HW1, a BWallet and a Trezor. My favorite is Trezor because I can use it with Electrum 2.0 and the BWallet website is slow and buggy. HW1 is a very decent hardware solution for the price but Green Address, what one normally uses with HW1, is very sluggish but it works okay (no way to change fees, must accept what Green Address decided to charge). If you rent 30 GH/s of power from MRR for three days and mine on Slush you can get a Trezor for only $79.00 (bought two this way). If you buy a Trezor click link in my sig please. Trezor is what I use as my daily wallet.

I have used the hw.1 with electrum dev version before. I guess this means btchip sport didn't make it into the release after all? (Sorry for ot)

I'm sure that Balduro will do the right thing, regarding the premined coins.

I think option 2) equally distribute the remaining premined coins to the 1 stage airdrop addresses is a great way to end the airdrop.

I totally agree! Equal distribution of the remaining premined coins, to the 1 stage airdrop addresses, serves the purpose of the airdrop the best way.

The purpose of the airdrop is not the only thing important here. There have also been "investors" who gave AUR value in the first place by buying them from the Icelandic people who wanted to cash out.

If more than 6% of the total Airdrop supply (10,500,000) remain in the premine addresses after Stage 3, any coins exceeding the 6% mark will be verifiably destroyed.

why not simply proceed according to plan?
The airdrop blueprint also states that:
"The right is reserved to repeat the Airdrop reset stages as many times as necessary to get the coins into circulation, as well as any other measure intended for the same purpose."

ok, you're right. I wasn't aware.

In that case I don't care wether 1.) or 2.) is done.
