HELP

Just received my Antminer S4 and having a difficult time setting it up.  When turning the machine on it whirls at full speed/noise, but never settles down.  The LCD screen is bright but never displays any text.  Anyone know what the issue is?

This occurs whether directly plugged into my computer, or plugged into a Netgear N300 wifi to Ethernet adapter.  I unscrewed the lid, and all of the cables appear to be plugged in properly.

Popped the SD Card out, and then pushed it back in.  Miner worked!  Stable after adding CK's cgminer mod.  Running 1.82GH at (hopefully) 1060W as suggested on BtcGuild.  Thanks for the help on this thread!

Congrats.  The shipping gods have not been kind to S4s, although all three of mine worked out of the box.  One had a bit of scratched paint.

Mind posting the Freq. and Voltage your using and/or a link to the article you read?

Cassey

Okay I may grab one or two  of these.  I am interested in under clocked results.

so is anyone running freq 187.5  with 0.685 volts?       if so what do you  get for hash rate watts/ power numbers and fan speeds?

better yet has anyone done freq 175 with 0.670 volts?  if so what do you get for hashrate watts used and fan speed?

TIA

Ask and yea shall receive (at least sometimes!):  http://puu.sh/d3BqI/ad9aaf7d23.png - 187.5 at 0.685V.

Any news on this S5 yet? Being waiting so long..

Probably the only chance of hearing something SOON will be Cyber Monday.  If nothing then, I don't expect to hear anything till end of January to mid February.  More than likely Bitmain will be more patient and make sure it is properly field tested to avoid further hits on reputation.  Although, I still feel Bitmain has the most reliable rigs in the industry at a competitive price.

Agreed, Dogie!

Anyone with a little bird egg shell full of common sense would know the dude has issues!

So the reset switch is only for reset to default settings ? I thought it was for hard reset like PC and also for restore to def.

If we manually change the voltage, frequency, etc... from factory defaults to something else; we have to manually change them back to defaults if we want to go back to defaults without doing a "hard reset" as you say.

I do not know of another way to restore settings back to defaults with one touch of a button or one click of the mouse.  If you find out, let me know.

EDIT:  The only thing I know that can reset BUT WILL RESET EVERYTHING is the reset button inside the hole to the left of the LCD screen.  This may be what you are calling a "Hard Reset."

2nd EDIT:  As for reseting something we have changed [frequency, voltage, etc...] back to defaults without a "hard reset," I do not know of a way to do that.  I believe we have to "manually" change those things back to defaults the same way we "manually" changed them from default to something else; IF we do not want to do a hard reset.

Thanks Cyper Smiley
As i was reading through this topic, people were saying that sometimes you need to turn off and restore to defaults, to get the full speed, probably from main voltage spikes. I have relay board for the arduino, so i want to connect the two wires on C and NO. Is the reset button the same switch for restore to defaults ? And how about the power on/off switch?

Power on/off does what it says.

The reset button [use a paper clip or something similar] will reset to factory defaults.

I think what he was actually asking if it's possible to remote control the on/off button using some circuit board.. I think....

Yes, that too...

Cyper can you please tell me for the reset button connections are they easy accessible, is there a way to solder two wires to that connection? My miners are on the way and i have arduino board here and want to make remote program for remote restart to defaults and remote hard reset and so on...
thanks

That last question, though, had me thinking they wanted to know if the reset button will reset to factory defaults.  I could be wrong though.

WTF!

Again a block with over 10 hours....what is happening at slush?

This blocktimes in this order with this times are not normal, if you are looking three month back.

What is the reason for this? Is it the pool itself or is there something wrong in the whole network?

Anybody some answers?

my theory is.  These people who keep adding the extra PH/s  and than taking it away for a day and than re adding it and than removing 2 and than re adding 1.

I've been watching our hashrate Drop 1-3PH/s  and go up 1-3PH/s all in different orders for about 2 weeks now.   It's driving me nuts.  Why not just pick a speed or a pool and stay there

I think this is why were having such long blocks.. Or might be one reason

I wish they would make up their mind as well.  It could be a cloud mining service doing that.  Either, the owner of the cloud service doing it to earn coin when no one rents or someone renting and hopping around.

It could be something more malicious...  An attack with corrupt shares pointed at the pool to try to get miners to leave the pool and point their rigs elsewhere.

I think it was the first thing I said. but...

Who knows?

I was you not too long ago.  Wondering the same thing during slow times like this.  According to statistics [on hash rate] our pool should find one block approximately every 5 hours and 30 minutes; or 4.7 blocks every 24 hours in order to maintain 100% luck.  Those were rough estimates.  However, the hash rate does not remain consistent either.  That's why it's a rough estimate.

So, again, that's to maintain 100% luck; 4.7 blocks every 24 hours at present hash rate.  We go 15 hours before finding a block from time to time.  So, don't pay attention to THE NOW.  LOOK at the pool luck for the last 30 days...  It is above 100%.  Just be patient.

Also, I think part of it has to do with the total hash rate of the network not keeping up with the present difficulty.  Which see:

Like your set up on the racks you've chosen.

Now, you will need to think ahead to determine how you will get rid of all that heat as you add more of them.

Have a good day!   Grin

Thank you. Yeah, I've got 2 x 2500 cfm fans coming. One in one out. I tried the aircon (12000btu) but it can't keep up. So I'll just have to rely on natural cooling. With the hot temp here in Singapore, they are running 56-63C depending on the time of day which is still ok.

The ear plugs are seriously good as I'm stuck in my small little home office with all the miners, a few pcs, laptops and a couple of NAS. I live in an apartment so no basement or attic to hide them miners and the wive refuses to let me put them anywhere else. LOL.

I PM'ed you to avoid complaints.

Coupons are only good until end of the month. How many do you need this purchase? Do you already have one and need one or more or do you already have two coupons?

Right now I have 0 coupons.  I'm not 100% sure I can make the purchase before November is over.  Hopefully the first or 2nd week of December For sure.

Coupons are only good till November 30th.

I'd rather give it to someone who could use it by November 30th.  I only have 1 left.

Lol  I will probably get some stupid response to this question..Just decided I should ask the people Who have bought many of them first.

Where would the cheapest place in Ontario/Canada to buy S3s or website.      Ino theres bitman. But is there cheaper and more reliable sources?Huh?

Thanks alot :d

Looking to finally start upgrading my hardware from S1s to S3s hopefully next week.

If you are using bitcoin to purchase, bitmaintech.com is DEFINITELY the place to purchase; even with shipping costs.  Give me your user name at bitmaintech.com and I will send you a $50.00 coupon for 1 S3.  I'm sure someone else has a coupon for an S3 if you want another.  All I have is one coupon for S3.

I am in BC Canada and I would have to say bitmain would be the best bet for Canada shipment, I know there is duty fees, but probably the cheapest and definitely the most reliable.

Yea thats so far What I have kept coming back to.  Bitmain being the cheapest possibility.    Thats the only thing.  oyu bay like 1.2BTC to 2 S3s  so its a bomb diggity deal.  But than the import charges u pay.... thats when u getscrewed..  Not like i have money to pay for that.

Bitcoins = my only source of income during Schoool : P: P: P: P

And im trying to work my way up to buying materials to build a shack in m backyard for a nice little/big mining farm.

Thanks Kurt

I HOPE this block that is still at 100 confirmations remaining is ours and not someone else's.

That's the only reason I can think that it still has 100 confirmations.

Please be our block!

EDIT:  The more I watch it, the more it looks like none of the blocks we found are continuing their confirmation count down.
Each new block on the network counts as one confirmation. There hasn't been a new block found by anyone in the last 40 minutes, hence no more confirmations.

Have you NOT noticed the confirmation count down on the blocks found have yet to move since that block was found?

Also, sometimes there is argument between pools as to whom found a particular block first.  That's why I was wondering why that recent block found was still at 100.

After watching longer, NONE of the blocks found are counting down to being cofirmed.  I'm sure they are; it's just we are not seeing it on the beta.

EDIT:

There we go, they are counting down now.
No, they weren't counting down at all because they weren't supposed to be counting down. The confirmations listed by Slush is basically the number of blocks built on top of the block in question. IE, for block 331733, Slush will consider that confirmed and pay out for it after the network all together finds another 100 blocks. After 331733, no blocks were found for 40 minutes, and that's why it stayed as 100 confirmations required, and none of the other blocks were counting down either.

As a point, until a block has at least one built on top of it there's always the chance it can get orphaned, but it would actually be very unlikely for even the last block to be orphaned after a couple minutes or so. You get orphan races when two blocks are found within usually a couple seconds of each other, but after a minute everyone who's not running broken software would have been mining on our block, and not the preceeding one.

Thanks for taking the time to explain that to me, Mr Teal.  I know you didn't have to but I appreciate it.  Learn something all the time.

Thank you!   Grin

Till now, I dont have one. A friend of mine's got two,
he is delighted bout the "transportpotential of the heat".
And they are running stable, he said.

So my idea, take 10 of them, put waterpipes together and
lead it through the underfloor heating...... Roll Eyes

Sounds like a plan!!!
