I think watercooled 1070's are the best  card for the onda b250 board.

https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/4u-6xgpu-8xgpu-12-gpu-cards_60709559773.html

4U server case with the Onda mobo. But this case uses the 4 extra pcie 1x slot too. Supports 12 gpus and comes with 2 PSU for $580.

This tilts the economics to favor mid range gpus.

I love the description on the fans "3 violent fan 5000 turns 12CM".  That's gotta be loud I'm guessing.

Delta GHE I suspect from the RPM count (technically 5200 RPM for the AFB version) - a hair louder than the fans Bitmain has been using for years but a little higher airflow.
 Definitely SERIOUS airflow.

There's 7 of those fans too. 3 intake, 4 in the center. However they say it's a "12038" fan. A quick google showed several variants between 2000-2900rpm. Unsure if it's indeed 5000rpm. I'll ask the seller.

120 mm by 38 mm

delta has them  over 5000 rpm  this is 4600  29 watts a fan

http://www.coolingsurplus.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=424:ffc1212de-pwm&catid=5:120mm-fans&Itemid=8

if you lower clocks and tdp this may work  7 watts a fan

https://www.amazon.com/Scythe-DFS123812H-3000-Ultra-Kaze-120mm/dp/B001JKNMBE/ref=sr_1_4?

so 7 x 22 = 154 watts  more to move

7 x 230cfm
7 x 138cfm

found it 5500 rpm using 48 watts

what a mess  too much stuff

1 dead board.
1 board short along with 1 cpu

10 boards on the way

5 sold
1 for doa
1 for the one never sent out

leaves 3.  I MAY NOT be selling the three.

next solar array crash is fixed 1 bad ethernet cable shut down 78th  for 6 to 12 hours

worse it caused a boot loop on a 2300 usd [parts cost]  booted 3 times a minute for hours.

not sure how dead that pc is  will tear it down on monday I hope it is just the ssd which is bad enough.

more stuff  will need a redundant ethernet cable to the switch in the  array loft along with a router with 2x backup.

Still  things are decent about 2000 a month in the garage
and 2000 a month in the array to split
and 600 a month with my friends office

means 3300 a month for me

and 4 s-9's on the way.

other dead gear

1 fully burnt s-9 board
1 dead s-9 board could not be fixed I got a discount on an s-9
1 fully dead avalon 741 was replaced but I got to keep the dead one.  still can not fix it.
and the pc  I mentioned is dead
and 2 dead  psus

my s-9's should ship soon it would be nice if they came before thanksgiving,

Phil - are you sending the S9 boards to Colorado Bitmain for repairs?

yes   this time one was super burnt  = no fix
the other looked fixable and I sent it in  they could not fix it  sent me a coupon to use on a new s-9
I ordered one   when bcc was peaking  so I got the coupon  and the high bcc price.   paid only 0.84 bcc/bch for it  that would be the Jan batch.

will bring me to

3x avalon 721  18th
1x pangolian    11th
5x s-9              65th

total =              94th

18 1070            7650 sols
19  1080 ti       12350 sols

total =            20,000 sols

No pos coin does well.

Just put your money in US bond.

ETH SWITCHING will kill the coin.  They will drag it out longer and xmr  zec and btg will take over and replace it and I used and a lot in this sentence  Grin

Seems like January 10-20 batch sold out. Anyone who was following them can guess when the next patch will be available?

check every hour on the hour  if there are cancels you can buy one today.

My guess is you will wait a while for a full batch but there will be some cancels today.

Thanks for the advice.

good luck

Wht's the current ramp up time for rewards? I have couple of s9 comming soon and i would like to go back to kano pool (sorry i had to leave but im on high electricity rate in scotland)
Thanks
what do you mean by ramp up time?

5n average means how many hours it take to hit 5 blocks on average

right now it is about 13 days with the firepower on the pool

so from day 1 to 13  you build up   to full power.

you then get full payments.

so if you just put gear here  you would be rooting for no blocks  for a while  then a lot of blocks later on

Damn  woke up and checked all the asics  at the solar array  and we are crashed.

Drove over  no melt downs  seems to be an internet issue.

so 4 avalons         offline  = 27th
1 new pangolian   offline  = 11th
3 s-9's                 offline  = 40th

78th down since  2am  about six hours.

I will be troubleshooting it.

Can't you setup some time of monitor to alert you once they are down ?

Sleeping bro.  And if I had an alarm wake me the wife would kill me Grin

you need a dual WAN router for two internet connections, have a fail over connection automatically.
  good idea

gear is a buysolar's place

that would have worked

I found issue  the 200 foot ethernet cable from his home based router to the loft  had a poor connection.

loose wire .  it is working now

Buysolar and I will have to setup the dual WAN router  from his home to the loft space.

you have a link for that style of router.
22270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Faint Burning Smell on: November 18, 2017, 03:25:36 PM
I added a fourth GPU. A Evga 1070 ti to my rig with 3 1070s. Everything works fine and i had 4 cards in it before running fine just decided to replace one with a 1070ti and was running great for 3 hours but there is a faint burning smell but I can’t pinpoint it. Nothing seemed off. The only thing wrong on my rig is one of the slide locks on my mint cell risers snapped off in an incident weeks ago but the card is fully inserted and functioning fine. I’m not sure if the smell is due to the heat they are putting off or what it could be. To ensure my wife can sleep tonight I turned the rig off and will troubleshoot again tomorrow but don’t know where else to check or how to check if everything is working fine. Any thoughts?

My system set up is
3x 1070 MSI Gaming X
1x EVGA 1070 Ti EVGA
1k PSU
3 Mint Cell Risers
120gb SSD Win 10

OC Settings are +150 Core +600 Mem on Equihash with EWBF

When mining Afterburner is telling me my GPU usage is 100% on all of them
.

I’d imagine that your at the limit of your psu.  That smell is the capacitors about ready to burst or have done so already.  Also one other place to look is right at the 6 pin connectors. Touch them and see if they feel hot. If it’s hot enough to make that smell it’s melting the coating off right near the 6 pin. I’d suggest adding that last card to another psu.

BR

try setting tdp lower

I have 4 evga 1070 ti  hybrid's  I had a faint burnt smell I lowered tdp  to 67%   and the problem went away.

about 104 hours  since 11-12 monday

i was paid  13 hours ago

I earned this in the last 13 hours   0.00154375    I am earning about 0.0027 btc a day before power

that is 20 usd - 5 usd for power =  15 usd  a day   since I paid 1200  I need 80 x 15 = 1200   80 days for roi

22275  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Woke up and Miner has 2 GPUs not running on: November 17, 2017, 03:44:41 PM
Do you think it could be a SATA power issue?

I am going to try to do 1 card on the PSU so see if I can trouble shoot more. My PSU is 1000w and I am using only 650watts max.

Your best bet is to narrow the problem down and rule if its an issue with the GPU's, riser cards, or motherboard. I would start by connecting the gpu's 1 by 1, well let your machine run and then see which ones aren't heating up and then start with testing those. I spent a week trying to diagnose a similar problem and it ended up that the PCIe slots on the mobo went bad, had to RMA it and finally getting it back this weekend (its been a total of 1 month) decided to just by a better board and use the RMA to diagnose problems in the future

spare mobos are the way to go  as they are cheap  plenty of 99 dollar to 129 dollar mobos around.

@ op here is a good mobo for 5 or 6 cards

I am pretty much maxxed  for the garage and the solar array.

I also have  3 rigs at my friends office

So at this point in time I need more power.

Buysolar is working on a new  array  but government paperwork is killing him.

We may  just start running  via the 400 amp 240 volt  at first.

and still waiting for power company to set that up.

it would be 11 -12 cent power until June 1

96000 watts =  about 75000 watts for mining.

we would slowly  convert it from grid to grid  tied into solar.

In the meantime I have 4 more s-9's coming in with no place to run them.

I will be needing about  5600 watts to run them.

Did you use paypal or some type of protection for  the purchase?

Great price if it works out.

My order for 10 more boards has given me tracking  maybe monday or tuesday. they will show up.

22278  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitmain Antminer S11 releasing! on: November 17, 2017, 03:55:23 AM
If canaan releases a better Avalon then the s-9

Bitmain will simply cut price on the s-9.

There is no need for them to do better then the s-9. Until someone clearly builds a much better miner.

Just go to hash nest and see the s-7 turn profit.

No one gets to check on the s-7 mining so by now most of them could be s-9 and they charge s-7 maintence fees.

What does this mean?  It. Means bitmain is whaling more money by the trunkful .

Why make a s-11 and kill the s-7 score on hashnest.

The answer is they will not do a new miner unless economics demand it.

And economics do not demand it to be built.
