22324  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Official FutureBit Moonlander 2 Driver and Support Thread on: December 06, 2017, 12:12:23 AM
Any help much appreciated. Today I got my 6 moonlander 2's. I installed the sw. When I plug 1 or 2 into my USB 2 ports on my computer, everything works fine. For some reason bgfminer shows a MLD 0 miner that doesn't exist, no idea where it comes from. My two moonlanders are MLD 1 and 2. Sofar so good.

What the setup intro does not mention is that when you actually plug in a device it should say "installing USB to UART driver". Under device manager you can see the virtual com ports.

The problem is with my eyeboot USB hub. A real nice thing, looks professional. When I plug a USB HD into this hub, my computer recognises it. But when I plug in a moonlander, the power comes on (green led) but it is not recognized, i.e. I don't get the "installing driver" message. Obviously then bgfminer neither can communicate with the units. Now this is very decent hi-power hub by Eyeboot, so it really ought to work. I know the warnings on cheap hubs but this thing _should_ work.

I really want to get my 6 moonlanders a full speed, so... anyone any suggestions on how to troubleshoot my connections. I will keep trying and see what happens. If I should post this in another forum let me know. Any help much appreciated!!

As a side note, when plugged into my PC and hashing away, the two moonlanders are very quiet!, I barely can hear the fans. But on the HUB they were making a lot of noise!! Maybe the attachment is just not as firm

I can get 3 different eyeboot hubs working

which one do you have?

Has anyone noticed the vibration from the included fans? I am running six and it is loud and can feel the vibrations. Was thinking of running this in the office, but even this USB ASIC maybe too noisy.

@jstefanop - What are your thoughts on me using this fan and removing the fans? I'd use one Arctic fan for every 3 USB ASICs. I, unfortunately, don't have a heat gun, so not sure how to measure surface temperature.

http://smile.amazon.com/ARCTIC-Breeze-Mobile-Flexible-Adjustable/dp/B003XN24GY/ref=sr_ph_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1512446721&sr=sr-1&keywords=arctic

The fans  on these sticks  may not be  good.

One now shudders making noise  and vibrating the stick.

I pull the two fans and now use external fans  all is well in fact better then when I ran with the little fans  also not as loud.

I can not find it  but someone else  said their fan  became unbalanced and vibrated.

This happens even though  the fan screws are tight and correctly installed,

I now run well with  my own fans

Im working on a fix to keep the alive automatically. The current dead/restart logic is bugged in bfgminer, so I'm going to implement it directly in the driver. Should have a new release out in the next few days.

Awesome! I'm having this same problem and I'm looking forward to the update!

Again, you're an incredibly awesome person!

Let us know when the update comes through.

Oh if your fans  do make too much noise and you cool them with other fans you get more room on your hubs.

I will photo.

As I can see from their post history, all accounts switched from some other language to russian(chinese to russian, dutch to russian, phili to russian and so on), talking about mining in past to signature spam now etc. There are too many coincidence to say this is not solid connection.

My apologies to other posters...

I tagged delarock negative  and will leave it negative until he/she can prove  to me they lived or have lived at the shipping address  given to me in 2014.

I will say this  the address given is close to an area that has a lot of russian immigrants so maybe he is real.

So I kept going with the tweaking and thought I'd give some soft power tables a go. Mistake. I obviously didn't use the right one and essentially booted to a completely garbled up screen. Nothing else for me to do but re-install Windows.

This can happen for any old reason.
I had a stable miner, 4 * Vega56 at 1950H/s each.
I shut it down to move to a permanent position - it didn't survive the 10 metre journey and had a mashed screen on windows login.

So back into the lab and back to square one. The next time I just logged in remotely from it's permanent position to set everything up so I didn't have to unplug and move it Wink

I know the day is coming where I have to put it back on the operating table... so far 56hrs mining without crashing! happy.

had a 2 card  2 1080 tis on nvoc mining  zec at nicehash

moved them to one of the 8 card boards.
the msi is now rma's  won't post  and can no longer be detected
the asus fan failed I slapped a fan on it and will waterblock this card down the road.

going to leave the other 3 card nvoc  build alone Grin

I have  3 avalon 721's  mining   included  is 1 psu  a 1200 watt  which will run 1 of the three units.

  you will need more psu's.

the controller and wires needed.

you can see them running here

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKlXarvBv5M

and you can see the mining numbers here

https://www.nicehash.com/miner/16yLHLoeyuCLPMXkVpC3gyrRYvwRGwjKJr

since they point at nicehash  numbers will flux a lot  but they  average around 18th  set on -2

18th is about 39 usd a day  they burn about 3000 watts   at 10 cent power that is  7.20 usd a day

so they net  31 or 32 a day.

No one knows  if that will get better or worse  over the next 5 months.  So I have to price them some how.

I could say  100 days x 32 dollars = 3200 dollars    include shipping and leave it at that.

But even though these are ready to ship this Saturday the 9th of Dec.

I think  3200 is too high of a  price.

So  make offers to me under 3200.

3 miners ---------- I rate them at 18th on -2  they may do more  with quality psu's  cool spot and setting 0
1 controller
1 psu that can run on 120 volts or 240 if you run on 120  -2 is the safe setting for hash rate.
you will need more psu's
all the wires dongles etc needed for it
and a brick to run the rasp pi.

Payable in BTC to me.

If you are out of the country I will sell it to you but shipping a three pack to europe runs  a lot higher then shipping it to   Washington state  I am in New Jersey.

it is about 100  to Washington  in a 40 pound 18 by 18 by 18 box
it is about 200 to France          in a 40 pound 18 by 18 by 18 box.
it is about 300 to Romania       in a 40 pound 18 by 18 by 18 box.

and if you are in a nearby state it ships  for 30-40 bucks.

Must be entire set purchased.
You must offer lower  then 3200

Shipping will be this Saturday Dec 9th  if it is paid on time.

It will be in the farm in a few hours - the farm will be the real test if this guy survives.

The farm runs 34-35c on normal days and can get higher during hotter days.

The miner in question is the black box behind the 8 x R7-370 on a "k17" China mobo.

Very cool - definitely interested to find out as well!

Office space or warehouse? Also curious how are you ventilating the space?

my generic k17  seems good   does 7  1070ti's and 1 1070   all  evga hybrid  water cooled smos about 1000 watts  using a delta 2400 watt server

Nice settings Phil!

...

Phil - I am getting the newer K35 8-slots server PSU powered mobo too. Improved version of K17 but with no CPU and no RAM -- but they said that this K35 uses only DDR3 notebook sodimm. Got one for you too  Grin

Nice I will test it out.

Okay  of the  cards + gear on hand

buysolar - solar array   13  1070s plus 1080 tis
ira's office                     6   three 2 card pc's all  1080tis
my garage                   24   one 8 card one 6 card two 3 card one 4 card

so 43 cards mining.

one asus turbo 1080 ti fan died  I did a fix  will photo it
one msi aero   1080 ti won't post  rma status
one evga 1070 hybrid  pump went bad rma status

all onda boards  the b250  8 slots 4 riser  21 total posted  and work  so it is reliable  so far.

the onda  b1800  with a built in  cpu  six slot works  but seems flaky

the generic  k17  works well  at about 1000 watts  using a delta

the ryzen  1800x using water cooling  is going to pay off  it is doing about 1.50 a day  using only 60 watts above   when the board mines with 3 gpus

did some math here and if  you have  2 antminer l3 for 1gh  you should hit  1 in every 11,000 blocks   since that is  about 20 days

Hi All,

I'm running RasPi 3 with a 7-port USB3.0 BC 1.2 hub (Plugable 7-Port USB 3.0 SuperSpeed Charging Hub with 60W Power Adapter with BC 1.2 Charging Support).  I have to items I'd like some help with, please.

1. Moonlander 2 light and fan come on, but I am unable to get it to recognize with the bfgminer_5.4.2 special release.  I've confirmed I've got the most recent copies of the libjansson-dev and libcurl4-openssl-dev packages. Tried manually walking M+ MLD:/dev/ttyUSB0-10 and got nothing.  Of course ALL and Auto are also not having any luck.

2. I'm looking to solo mine.  Whenever I put the --generate-to arg in my command line statement I get an error: ./bfgminer: --generate-to: Invalid address.  Tried this with several public wallet addresses beginning with L.  I've got a Litecoin Core server set up on my internal network and I can successfully mine to it using cpuminer (get connected, get work, processes hashes, no completed blocks yet).

Glad to provide whatever data points would help in either case.  Thanks!

-Jim

this isnt how you solo mine.. check out ltc.tbdice.org

Ok, super.  Thanks for the redirect to tbdice.org, Aaron!  Tried that and I'm still having trouble getting my bfgminer program to initialize the USB stick.  I am running a Gekkoscience USB stick on the same USB hub and I'm able to generate shares on slushpool.  Getting other failed to initialize USB messages in that window, assuming that relates to the Moonlander 2.  Any further guidance, friends?

-Jim

The sticks are not very happy on the same hub it is possible but not worth the effort.

Pull all the compacs load the driver for the moonlander once you have them running.

Delete the sillab driver software  but  don’t stop mining the moonlander.

Then load the compacs and they will not be overwritten

Then run the compacs and the moonlander .

Not really worth doing it.  As any  crash will mean pulling the compacs.

Loading the moonlander then deleting the driver program.

Putting the compacs back and running the

I simply run the, on two PCs easypeasy

Just kinda wondering why the cgminer compile for windows and specifically the gekko compiled one has a virus attached, i had to disable windows defender multiple times, plus add exclusions to avoid it being deleted. Being new to using the 2pac, I even had to use Firefox to download it as chrome flagged it as well.

windows defender has its head up its ass  .

make a folder  named mining  go to windows defender and exclude  the folder named mining

put the cgminer folder  in that folder named mining\

problem fixed
22339  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Official FutureBit Moonlander 2 Driver and Support Thread on: December 04, 2017, 09:00:36 PM
I installed Silicon Labs VCP Driver for macOS 10.10.5 (Legacy). Now, cgminer with my Gekko 2Pac failed to initialize after I installed the driver for Moonlander 2.

Can the two devices co-exist on the MacBook Pro peacefully?

I wasn't expecting this to happen, but I guess since they are both USB ASICs, it was a possibility.

I did the same thing  and one of the 2 pac actually loaded  silicon driver as I hot plugged it in.

I have not done mixed sticks in a while  it can do them but if you crash and hot plug it is a hassle I am going to set them on a different pc today.

Meanwhile these work well  I am solo mining at tbdice.org
I did the math and these have a shot to earn a profit mining at the site below

6m x 166 = 1gh x 11000 = 11th   so any one block is 1826000 to 1 and since there are 50 blocks a day  about 1826000/500 = 3650 to 1 each day

while 40 gh in compac or 2 pac  your chances are 482110 to one each day

Where is best share?
I ask because I am solo mining.

If everything is setup and running correctly you should see something similar to this:

F is found blocks
NB is new blocks on the pool
BS is your best share

Thanks. The pool I was using is defective.

I moved to tbdice as you suggested.

I get the ltc to work perfectly but I am crashing when I add Doge.
