@kemo - interesting thought - did not cross my mind to do that way - however, i will use whatever power allocation/format the mobo was designed for -- this will reduce any risks or surprises in future. I use the 6pin to 2 x 6+2pin splitter to support the 2x8pin cards... as long as you dont overload those cables (not exceeding 300w-350w) it should be ok.

Most of this boards are designed for 1060GTX GPUs , my RX580 8GB rigs already using more than 1300W from the wall when dual mining  , if we assumed that they are using 400-500W from the PCI slots then there is more than 800W are just passing through the board from input point to output point , that is extra heat on the PCB and extra stress on the low quality connectors .

 Very nice - best I've seen anywhere in the US in the last decade was $1000 for a 3000 square foot "mostly warehouse with a small office space" setup I had in the Indianapolis area for a while, unless the place was HUGE (10,000+ feet).

 $500 for 1000 feet with water/sewer/garbage included where I'm at now though is good for this area, expecially with the "cooling vents/louvers" built into the building front-and-back of the space, the "gable-type exhaust fan" that was already installed in the space (but in a bad spot, it'll work better as another intake), and I'm on the end of the building with 2 A/C units mounted in the "side" wall (one I converted to additional "vent" area with prior landlord approval but in a way I can easily put it back the way it was when I move out).

 I suspect part of the reason it's as low as it is would be the ACTIVE railroad track (single-track BNSF main-line) the property backs up onto - but I grew up almost as close to a dual-track Penn Central line so the train noise is no big deal to me.

 A standard 192.168.x.x privatenet offers ballpark 64,000 usable addresses - I don't think even BITMAIN needs much more than that, though I'd guess they probably use a 10.x.x.x privatenet "just in case".
 For example, I run my A2 miners on the 192.168.2.x subnet, most of the rest of my machines on the 192.168.100.x subnet, I USED to run a bunch of machines on 192.168.10.x via 10Base2 coax, I USED to run my S5 farm (and the SP20) on the 192.168.5.x subnet, and I have a DHCP address space set up for "short term usage on new machines I've not had the chance to fully configure yet" on 192.168.254.x
 My mining farm area though is starting to subdivide - each 6-rig "rack/shelf" unit will have it's own 192.168.100.xx1 through .xx6 address set, moving probably to 192.168.0.xx0 range if I get big enough eventually - makes it easy when I look at remote monitoring to say "ok, that IP is down, it is located THERE".
 I already had that implimented on the previous shelving units, each "row" with it's own .xx# and the # being the rig IN the row from top to bottom.
 I'm SURE this is not a new idea, though I've not seen it in actual usage anywhere that I can remember.

 It's NOT a good idea to push 300+ watts through a "dual PCI-E" type cable in a lot of cases - check the gauge of the wiring first, some of them are only intended to handle the 225 "8-pin + 6-pin" that are attached to them with VERY LITTLE left over if at all.
 EVGA and Seasonic cables should be OK - EVGA uses fairly heavy duty wiring on it's VGA cables for the G2/P2/T2 series (and I think they carried the cables over to the G3 series) and Seasonic tends to "double up" on the wires on their dual-connector cables.

 I have no experience with the Duke, but IIRC it needs 2 x 8-pin connectors which makes it harder to run a lot of them in one rig.

 EVGA FTX is the same way as I recall.

 SC2 is 8-pin plus 6-pin, has good cooling (though not quite up to my Aorus cards which are ALSO 2 x 8-pin), and runs quite well - also seems to be the highest-performance card that does NOT need 2 x 8-pin connectors at this point, though that's splitting very fine hairs.

do you use differnt interfaces for each subnet on your router or something? or is it on the switch level?   how do you set it you can access all  the subnets from you monitoring machine?

im up to 70 machines here btw asics and rigs and already stsrting to worry that my 192.168.0.xxx 256 addresss could be a long term issue.

I also use static addresses set up on the subnet on the sonicwall router since they are all on interface x0
i do have another isp on interface x1 which i use to load balance and failover

all this network stuff is a pain to figure out but subnetting maybe on individual switches would be cool but i like setting up all the statics from one machine

@citronic yeah i get the relaiblity deal but for smaller ops like mine 10k extra lbr mined a day is like $50 a day
that pays a large chunk of my electricity expenses I kinda need it lol

It will be in the farm in a few hours - the farm will be the real test if this guy survives.

The farm runs 34-35c on normal days and can get higher during hotter days.

The miner in question is the black box behind the 8 x R7-370 on a "k17" China mobo.

my generic k17  seems good   does 7  1070ti's and 1 1070   all  evga hybrid  water cooled smos about 1000 watts  using a delta 2400 watt server

Phil - I am getting the newer K35 8-slots server PSU powered mobo too. Improved version of K17 but with no CPU and no RAM -- but they said that this K35 uses only DDR3 notebook sodimm. Got one for you too

all onda boards  the b250  8 slots 4 riser  21 total posted  and work  so it is reliable  so far.

the onda  b1800  with a built in  cpu  six slot works  but seems flaky

the generic  k17  works well  at about 1000 watts  using a delta

the ryzen  1800x using water cooling  is going to pay off  it is doing about 1.50 a day  using only 60 watts above   when the board mines with 3 gpus

did some math here and if  you have  2 antminer l3 for 1gh  you should hit  1 in every 11,000 blocks   since that is  about 20 days

you need more  like   20 antminer l3's   a ltc block every other day.

Thought I'd share my experience with the D1800 so far...

Installed everything, installed Win10, 6 Vega 56's...

Windows was very, very "sticky". Even completely unresponsive at times. Start button wasn't working, had to right-click after every left click to make apps start. Very very weird. Anyway managed to get 6 Vegas to mine, albeit only at approx 1300 H/s cryptonight.

So I kept going with the tweaking and thought I'd give some soft power tables a go. Mistake. I obviously didn't use the right one and essentially booted to a completely garbled up screen. Nothing else for me to do but re-install Windows.

Once that was done, I decided this Windows crappiness had to be linked to the mobo... so I went to search for an updated bios. So there's me browsing on the Chinese ONDA site looking for the right bios for my board.

Unfortunately I didn't get the right one.
After flashing, no beep, no post.
After removing the GPUs, board battery, clearing CMOS I managed to get it to beep again. Still no picture though. At this stage I was ready to send the mobo back. But I had an idea. There was another bios on that Chinese website. I had recently read somewhere here that the D1800 was now shipping a rev.2 of the board... So I linked two and two together in my little brain. I had just flashed the bios for the rev.2 onto my 1.00 board.

This however gave me hopes that my mobo might not be totally bricked after all. So I went on and looked for the correct bios file (yep, on the same Onda Chinese website). It ended with -101 instead of -201. Copied that file onto the bootable usb stick, disconnected the SSD and booted the Onda. I then let it boot, waited a couple of minutes and then typed the flashing command blindly.

A minute later, the board shuts off (as expected, since the last command within the .bat file was "shutdown").

So I then powered it back on and - oh miracle - beep and post!

Needless to say I was pretty happy. Oh and Windows isn't sticky and unresponsive anymore. I've now created a system restore point. Tonight I'll proceed with the installation of the Vega's.

Moral of the long story: Folks, be careful when you download Chinese files!

This can happen for any old reason.
I had a stable miner, 4 * Vega56 at 1950H/s each.
I shut it down to move to a permanent position - it didn't survive the 10 metre journey and had a mashed screen on windows login.

So back into the lab and back to square one. The next time I just logged in remotely from it's permanent position to set everything up so I didn't have to unplug and move it

I know the day is coming where I have to put it back on the operating table... so far 56hrs mining without crashing! happy.

Because I've rented another shoplot beside mine for another $250 usd/month and can do redundancy now. Another 3 phase, 60A, 240V to play with at 7.5cents/kwh

It's rather inexpensive compared to the nightmare called riser troubleshooting lol.

I've also seen some huge warehouses in Kuching. 45000sqft, supports 1000 KW of power, but will cost $60K USD to setup the place, rental deposit ,wiring and ventilation, and cost $5K usd a month rent. Roughly 5.3 cents/kwh. Pretty good value, but I don't have capital for this scale.

had a 2 card  2 1080 tis on nvoc mining  zec at nicehash

moved them to one of the 8 card boards.
the msi is now rma's  won't post  and can no longer be detected
the asus fan failed I slapped a fan on it and will waterblock this card down the road.

going to leave the other 3 card nvoc  build alone

They use the 8 slot onda mobo which has standard power/reset pins. I'll plug in my simplerigresetters, make a small hole in the case if required. They are my remote reboot solution and worked flawless since I got them. I don't use watchdog because my rigs can run for months and if they do crash usually it's some hardware issue like a riser or a burnt rx470. I'd like the rig to go down to get the notification, so I can troubleshoot in greater detail.


@Citronick: I totally want to, but the 60k is better put in rigs for now. I can't justify the setup costs in the near future till I have a few hundred K usd to play with. Also the value at risk (worst case scenario amount I'll lose if crypto crash 90%) is too high to go this path. Wish I was born a few years earlier and have the capital

whenever i make a change and am sure the system is stable i make a full disk image using macrium reflect free. its saved me a few times when something goes south after updates or changes. its free, makes a bootable "rescue" iso that you copy to usb. boot the rescue usb, then just restore the image (thats saved on a different usb/partition/network share/whatever) and away you go.

Each SRR plugs into 8 mobos, and you can remotely control on/off for the 8 machines. It's really worth the money imo, costing only $20/rig to remotely reboot them. Not like they'll go obsolete like gpus too.

I have never tried SMOS, can it be used on wifi? Most of my current rigs are temp on wifi as im in the process of finding a new place to setup my future shop tell i can get my land purchased for the future farm.
