2241  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What does Gambling really mean to you? on: June 09, 2020, 06:57:43 PM
-snip- there are people who treat gambling as their business because they know how to play the game, the tricks and techniques, but most it is for their entertainment.
That's true, most people seem to gamble because they need entertainment or having fun. It is what we can get from gambling mostly since to earn money regularly is almost impossible. Even we are a professional gambler, I bet not every day to win the gambling with big prizes. The tricks and techniques don't work on all gambling games, some luck-based games aren't influenced by them. The chance to win is always the same and no guarantee at all.  Wink
Okay let's split this into two category, one is for the entertainment and the other for making profit. My question is what is more relevant when it comes to gambling? coz I've been seeing this two as both factors when you are gambling, a question that would answer the "Are you gambling for the fun, or gambling for the money?" but for me the truth is we all gamble for the money, coz who does not want money? let's stop pulling a phrase "at least I entertained myself".

2243  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao Might Fight Golovkin on: June 08, 2020, 08:15:49 PM
...

If this fight happen, who is your bet?

Both professional boxer.
Both absolutely still an explosive boxer.
Both last fight won.
How about you consider that Manny Pacquiao is the only 8 world division champion? What I'm afraid for Pacquiao is his speed, his last fight I notice that he is not speed as he was 3 to 4 years ago maybe that's one of factor to consider also but it's middleweight and triple G is not that quick also in the ring, all he got is a power punches which I think Pacquiao could easily dodge and hold, he fought Thurman which is a lot taller than him, triple G is thicker in body size so we'll really see if this happens.

It would be hard to say for now and I wonder who's odd will favor. Cheesy
They both in not ideal age for boxing, that's what I think so I'm just basing my favor for who has the most experience in boxing, most number of main event fights ( handling pressure from crowd ) Still Manny Pacquiao for me.

2244  Other / Meta / Did I just found the easter egg of the forum?? on: June 08, 2020, 07:19:01 PM
Don't mind the title, it's just an effect of watching 'Ready Player One' in netflix

But here's what I found interesting -  'leet'

Upon reviewing my profile, I notice this

'leet' I'm thinking it was just a glitch, or some coding errors from the inside but then I remember when the last time I checked post count it was around 1335 or 1336

I wasn't sure until it rings a bell, coz 'leet' is exactly as what I thought of, it is 1337, it is my post count!

I searched about it and I found out that it is a systematic way of spelling on the internet. Other is 'leet' means elite or let's speak (leet's 5p34K) --  google search

Am I the one that encounter it first? Is this the first thread about this? Coz if that so, then I'll feel very special.
Did you also saw 'leet' when you reached 1337 post count? pls tell me

Also I'm wondering about the other 'leet' types of numbers designed for the forum Smiley
2245  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: THINGS THAT CAN'T BE TAUGHT IN TRADING on: June 08, 2020, 05:53:56 PM
Control, regret, courage and a lot more.
These are emotions that burst out whenever you decide to sell or buy.
If you can manage to get the best out of all that then maybe you can succeed.
Every traders are different and I agree we all have different level of these things, perhaps not any have the control, or courage to trade but then that's not the case. If we are able to trade with less emotion, we can have a success ending but you can't just tell people to trade with less or no emotion at all coz we are playing differently, you can't be emotionless with the money you work hard after an 8 hour shift to trade and risk to the market. What I want to tell is, we are all different maybe some strategies are not as effective as they way you do it than the others.

It is true it cannot be learned in any tutorial out there.
What you need is experience by doing it over and over again.
What I think of a thing that can't be taught is the experience, we all lose, we all win, yes but it has differences a lot of differences.
2246  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Documented Timeline of Exchange Hacks on: June 07, 2020, 06:49:22 PM
Is this information really important now? For what? Just as piece of btc history? Anyway, site looks great
This is not so important , but it could've been more memorable to you if you are one of the people whose funds were stolen along with exchange's funds. Not just a piece of btc history, it was of the whole cryptocurrency. No wonder why we keep getting a lot of question regarding cryptocurrencies security from the outside, though coins are perfectly secured but these services aren't.

So if you guys were asked, would you still use an exchange who has a security breaching history? Coz me Imma say yes, that's where they will not let their guard down , they won't let it to happen twice  Wink
2247  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] The Best Casino Promotions on: June 07, 2020, 05:59:50 PM
bonus money & free spins at a first glance are a valid system to acquire new players.
This is the very move of every casino right now to recruit new players, it seems like everyone is ready to catch those beginners who turned into online gambling since casinos now are temporarily closed.
But I think that the best way to acquire (wealthy) players come offering giveaway since they don't need free bucks for betting. Offering a special prize (limited edition coin?) it could be more interesting for a player.
What I think they need to do to attract wealthy players is to make a huge bonus after a huge deposit, they are wealthy and they won't bother to put a lot in it right? Giveaways won't make wealthy players look to the platform, most probably it will attract giveaways spammer. imo.

how about a classy rooms for wealthy players? would that be looking too racist?
2248  Economy / Economics / Re: What opportunity costs will governments take. on: June 07, 2020, 03:58:17 PM
You can't just change the discussion OP coz the pandemic is really happening now for three months and continuing. And you probably need to understand that it is the caused of 90% of what is happening in the world.

It's just sad though that this pandemic is really a wake out call for governments to look into the medical/health sector. And for the record, at least in our country, majority of those who have been infected and died are doctors and nurses who are in the forefront of the fight.
I do believe that this is a wake up call, not just for the government but for the all of us living. For government, after this hell of problem, they should be focusing more on health care system why? because some city has only 1 hospital? or 2? 3? some are private and so on. The medical research labs also must be in focus so we can be prepared ( I was about to say 'more' prepared but uhh can't tell things that we are prepared) This is a wake up call for government who is spending more on tactical weapons for wars! and for us people? this is a call that the environment isn't just about being clean and neat it should be free.

As for the opportunity cost - what other options do you have right now? It's either the government reopen and relax the lockdown or re-open slowly just to make the economy moving. At the end of the day, there will be cost to weigh-in, all industries are affected.
The economy cannot be closed for a very long time, there should be alternatives propose to what is need right now.
2249  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Las Vegas Casinos are open - end of the Pandemic era. on: June 07, 2020, 02:57:21 PM
The pressure from the casino owners might be too much for the mayor of Las Vegas hehehe.
Hahaha,,,agree with you and possibility is higher. Smiley
If I'm the mayor of Las Vegas I'll just leave a suggestion in front of their door saying " Why not make it online?" because even we are 3 months in our home now, the virus is still there and keeps spreading and is not really SAFE. Who is more pressure, business owners who can't operate or the normal people who's no pay no work? argh...

They should copy what New Zealand is doing, I reckon. There were no strict quarantine rules imposed, only proper guidelines were followed.
Yeah kiwis did their best against covid19 and result is undoubtedly remarkable. I think their government implemented their plans nicely and citizens help them by following all the precautionary steps. IMO other corona affected countries should follow New zealand which will teach them that following strict quarantine is not the only weapon against Covid19.
In my country the rules are very strict but the people? ahh they suck on following the rules, a simple stay@home policy can't be in effect with such an uneducated people. Our government tried to open malls, but only those stores who has people necessities BUT then the first day that it was open it was very crowded af like nothing is going on around.
2250  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: "NEW NORMAL" Betting on: June 06, 2020, 09:09:34 PM
I usually read the word "boring" because of the covid19 but we can't do anything with it. And let the boredom strike us as long as we're safely staying at our homes
Boring is for those who has nothing to do now. Me, throughout the 3 months of quarantine I discover some skills of mine that I thought I was just too ambitious about it, I write songs and make beats (trap) which I enjoy and love to do so. Gambling is on my daily routine, for 1 to 2 hours or playing, I maintain my time doing it so that I won't be bored. So basically, to avoid boredom just look for things to do not just gambling all day  Cheesy

I have no problem to wait until everything goes back in normal or even in this new normal. As long as the players, athletes and staffs are safe first. It's a serious fight against the virus and good to see that some matches are coming back soon so let's all be happy with that.
As everybody said, the vaccine that we are waiting is still gray, we don't when it is going to be commercialize but as far as I remember there is already a medlab that is going to mass test a vaccine expected to be out later this year. After that the new normal will be imposed everywhere, most especially in sporting events since it has a lot of physical audience, most probably they will cut in half, 50% of the total seats will remain vacant, so watching with your love one will be one seat apart lol
2251  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Future Prediction Because of Hacking/Scamming on: June 06, 2020, 08:23:39 PM
You dont worry about the future of Bitcoin even if some users get hacked/scammed due several reasons about weak wallet securities and other careless activities, because those Bitcoins/alts will still be included in the circulation after the hackers sold them to several users and exchange. So, Bitcoin and other alts won't be affected in terms of it's value.
The security of blockchain is on another level, it uses strong cryptographic keys that's why we call it the future of technology, in short it is tamperproof. Don't get the wrong idea which bitcoin is not secured, the scheme was completely secured until you reach out to pay for services like exchanges and storing in wallet. This is where the security might be advantaged of the hackers, as of January this year fraudulent activities stole more than $1 billion worth of crypto, this is quite alarming though.

Fiat currency can be stolen too, are we asking the same questions like you do?
Same thing. Everything has its own bad side. It's just that simple.
Did the government stopped printing paper money because there are the risks of thieves?
good point!  Cheesy
No matter how thick the layer of security is, If a certain user doesn't educate himself from possible phishing and other fraudulent attacks, then he'll still end up lossing his money.
at the end of the day, it is the users responsibility of his assets, not even the services that you paid for, or what you use.

And another important lesson about exchanges that was prone to hacks; don't store your Bitcoin in any exchange or custodial wallet. Instead, store it in an offline wallet.
Just one suggestion, don't let your money sleep in exchanges  Wink
2252  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to Differentiate Between Trader and Investor on: June 06, 2020, 07:49:14 PM
How short is the short term and how long is the long term for trader and investor respectively?
This is a subjective questions, I believe everyone have their own opinion and view about it.
The question is subjective because you only think of the cryptocurrencies, yes we don't have that much terms on these things but in finance operation they have period to consider whether long term or short term.

For me short term is usually less than 1-4 weeks and anything beyond 12 months is considered as long term. How about you? I'm curious about your opinions too.
The subjectivity depends on you, if you know that there is a finance term then you'll probably say that it is an objective one.

So here, in financial operations before you consider that the investment is long term or short term, there must be a length or time period. What considered Long-term investment is at 3 years and above, in short term this might just be long for a year or less.
2253  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin donation vs Bank donations on: June 06, 2020, 07:26:50 PM
Bitcoin is more transparent and you will actually know if the money has been used for the better while in banks the only one who controls the money is the banker and the owner of the bank account that later he can use to send it to some dummy accounts.
Well obviously bitcoin donations is more transparent coz it is going to generate block whenever a transaction is going in and out, basically you'll see the every flow of the money with blockchain publicly. However with bank donation, though I haven't done it yet, I'm pretty sure they would not just give the list and the contribution and that's a hole where they can do shady things, they can simple move under the people's radar. I'm not accusing tho but that's maybe what it is.

That's why i dont trust charities when it comes to donation.
Charities are good, don't get them wrong they really wanna help but you can't control every people under their institution those who have different life situation this is where the things might go off.
2254  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao Might Fight Golovkin on: June 05, 2020, 04:18:52 PM
Golovkin can out-punch Manny on the first few rounds, no doubt, but if we are going to talk about stamina, speed and quickness, Manny has the edge and can go toe-to-toe with Golovkin for all 12 rounds. The only thing that Golovkin has to do is to either seriously injure Manny while he still has full stamina and his punches are still strong OR knock him out cold, but the latter is just not going to happen given how defensive Manny has become with his last few fights after Mayweather. Defense-wise, Golovkin can take some heavy punches, but I'm not sure how he's going to survive at 8 rounds or so when he shows some exhaustion and stamina depletion.
I just have to agree with this. I finished Golovkin's highlights all I can say is that he is a strong puncher, he is bigger than MannyPac but as you have said MannyPac has the edge on stamina, speed and quickness coz I also noticed the exhaustion of Golovkin on the latter rounds of his fight with Canelo. He is not used to finish the 12 rounds of a box since he often finish his bouts after 6 to 8 rounds, so maybe there's a chance that Manny could go after depleting his stamina before going toe-to-toe.

I'd bet for Pacquiao in here not because of the record or hype, but seriously, all stats aside, Pacquiao is the better fighter in most aspects.
Me too, regardless of his age, he is still MannyPac, the only 8th division world champion and soon to be 9th division ( crossed fingers ) Seeing the powerful uppercut of Golovkin in the 12th round of his fight VS Canelo makes me more to be favored with Pac. You guys should watch that clip so you'll know why.
2255  Economy / Economics / Re: China’s digital yuan could replace bitcoin & end US dollar hegemony on: June 05, 2020, 03:19:18 PM
Even if they make Yuan digital it can’t still force other nation to use it, China is already digitalized and make most of their transactions cashless so this is not new to them. Well, I also heard about the news of Digital USD which can still compete with Yuan so this is not the end of the fight i think since big countries will also follow the growing technology. If bitcoin remains decentralized, then Yuan can’t still change the fact that more people now wants to control their own money and that’s what bitcoin provides to many.

Talking about money means talking about greasing the economy both for fiat money and digital money. Digital Yuan may be mighty in China but China is part of the global economy so it must follow the rules of the global world.
The fact is, China wants to lead the world. Some of you guys might not understand what China is doing right now, saying that there's no way it would replace USD or BTC ( I believe so, but it's not impossible.)

I consider this digital Yuan publishing as part of China's grand plan for the mastery of renewable energy sources as a support for technology in the future. China's move to publish digital Yuan will stimulate a global reaction to rival China. This massive reaction will accelerate China in achieving its national interest in energy self-sufficiency and create a global dependence on renewable energy sources created by China.
Is the timing is perfectly placed? Just yesterday I read an article regarding China on using Digital currency for international transactions. With this they can forcefully make a country digital just because they say so, for example this product "X" will only be available for digital currency transaction that means ones country must have deal with it. And in that way they will simply win the cryptocurrency race among several countries, not only that, they also easily sell it to you with their products. This is what I think would happen.
2256  Economy / Economics / Re: How can we get people to use bitcoin as a currency? on: June 05, 2020, 02:40:30 PM
In my opinion, we cannot forced people to use bitcoin as their first option of payments because they are still using fiat currencies as their main source of buying goods and services in their respective countries. It might be possible for bitcoin, but it will only be considered as an alternative in my opinion not unless bitcoin is already fully adopted in their countries and it is more guaranteed payment adoption is inevitable to all users.

People will use bitcoin as a means of payment only if it is economically profitable for them. To do this, it is necessary that bitcoin has a stable price, so that people do not have to choose whether to pay for the purchase today or maybe tomorrow, when the exchange rate for bitcoin increases.
Economically profitable? If that's the case then we will never use bitcoin in such instance of a currency. Some says that we can use bitcoin if we come to meet the price in a certain range with stability, but we will never see that happening. What's only stable on bitcoin's part is the supply, we have a fixed 21M btc supply and the demand is fluctuates every time so there's no way that you'll see the price of bitcoin staying in a certain price for long. There are merchants that is already accepting bitcoin, YES , but I'm pretty sure that they know the risks of it.  Aside who's going to spend their BTCs?
2257  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's Next After Halving? on: June 05, 2020, 01:41:19 PM
6.25 block reward is still a lot more than the fees.

Take a look at this block, for example, recently mined:
https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/block/633186
Code:
Fee total  0.28121784 BTC
Generation 6.25000000 BTC

So, reward is still 22 times bigger than the fees.
I think it is lower than what we have a couple of weeks ago, coz I tried it in small amount and the fee took almost 1/5 of the whole amount that I sent.

Miners will continue to mine. Maybe some of them will leave... if they leave and the hashrate decrease the diffilcult will also decrease and some miners may come back. The  bitcoin netowrk regulates itself.
'big' and 'prepared' miners will continue for sure, I know they know that this halving will come to their way so they'll definitely prepare for the decrease in profit for mining, on top of these is the equipment upgrade to make mining more efficient. The hashrate is decreasing lately, but it came back and it's pretty natural if you look the halving that took 8 and 4 years ago.

On the other hand, if the price goes up miners will keep coming and the hashrate will continue to grow. Nothing to worry about miners.
What the miners need to prepare for is the next halving, although that would be in 4 years it will be more difficult than what it is now. Only the biggest will survive after all.
2258  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OK! Who is THIS Bitcoiner? on: June 05, 2020, 12:50:27 PM
Ah. The 2020 version of the Bitcoin sign guy. Next thing you know fake bitcoin address QR codes will be roaming around the web claiming to be this guy.
Just like what we saw back then, it will repeat itself definitely. Don't be surprised!

Since not everyone (including me) aware of world news and events, can you mention the event/context? Is it part of peaceful protest or something else?
It's most likely from the Minneapolis protests(..or riots).
Most probably this is from America, could not be in Minneapolis since there are also some states doing the protests fro George including celebrities.

Not sure if I would call the event "peaceful", sadly.
Don't expect the movement to be peaceful coz it started with violence, and we know how it goes. But for the sign, I also see this last time and I don't think bitcoin has to do with that? maybe the transparency in the government just like the blockchain? idk

Just earlier man, I watched a video of some guys protesting, one of them (old man) approached the police but the police pushed him back causing the old man to get his balance off and hit his head on the floor then it starts bleeding. the WORST is that the police didn't even help him!

2260  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Earn and save in Satoshi on: June 04, 2020, 02:47:00 PM
You know what I'm trying to do during this pandemic? I really save cryptocurrency especially bitcoin and ethereum coz it seems to me that the price of these two are unaffected by the current events.

I know bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are not the key to get rich, but the fact that you can gain so much from it I would not stop using it. And I believe that there is a great purpose for cryptocurrencies in the future, we might just be using it as our daily driver to our transactions. I don't usually say this, but cryptocurrencies has the biggest shot for the world to adopt in the near future to make the cashless society dream come true.
