2241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: YAC on Bter.com Coming Soon? on: May 09, 2013, 02:54:58 PM
Some users are starting to write Bter.com asking for YAC to be included in the Exchange.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=199074.new#new

YAC, the successful CPU coin, should be in Bter.com and surpass earlier intents (CHN, FTC...) by 10x this time!!!

Let's write too!!!

support@bter.com or admin@bter.com

+1

Though, I'd rather see an official YAC website with information about releases, official downloads for different platforms OSX, Windows, and Linux.

Also would be good to add YAC to btc-e.com
2242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coin competition is NOT healthy on: May 09, 2013, 02:12:56 PM
Actually, I think it's perfectly healthy.  I am not afraid of my coins losing value to new more competitive coins.  I will simply keep my stake in the best coins.

This is the free market at work, combined with open source software.  The coins are like organisms in a rapidly evolving natural selection process.  Only the fittest will survive, and these coins will have the best properties for an online currency.

Everyone knows crypto currency will be the mainstream.  The process by which we get there; however, may surprise you.

I personally like this natural selection process.  And, while the new ideas are brewing and evolving, it's only natural people will tinker and invest.

How many YAC/hour are folks getting, i.e., on _one_ dual- or quad-core CPU?
10 PRINT INT(RND(1)*10000)
20 GOTO 10
RUN

Damn.  That's an infinite loop per hour.

Seriously, how many u getting?

2245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ABOUT YAC AND JKC on: May 09, 2013, 01:34:05 PM
But... GPUs use _way_ more power and produce _way_ more heat.

If it only gives you 1 or 2 more CPUs, then it probably doesn't make sense.

Also, _everyone_ has CPUs, while not everyone has GPUs.

The the YaCoin uptake will be very interesting to see.
2246  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][YAC] yacoin: yet another altcoin. Release in 24 hours. on: May 09, 2013, 01:28:03 PM
Edit: Some graphics. I give them away as Public Domain. I'll post a SVG if people seriusly wants to use them.

This is probably the _BEST_ logo I've seen for all cyptcoins including bitcoin.

Well done.  You are obviously talented.

Whose going to setup an official website for the most awesome YaCoin?

brother!
you have the same idea with me!
i make a site http://www.yacoin.org
but it's not good enough
maybe we can do it together!

Pass. I've no idea about web development.

Anyone else?  We gotta keep pushing this forward.  This is _key_ in any real success of the currency.

yes!
YAC is cooler than others!
CPU mining make more normal PC can join this currency!
so i am glad to help this currency better .

Have you seen this thread where the YaCoin creator explains how it's resistant to GPUs?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=199888.msg2083600#msg2083600

I think that a successful decentralised currency must allow everyone to participate equally.  This really levels the playing field a lot and gives the average user some reason to participate in the network.  Very clever!

so cool.
i love it.
i have puted it in yacoin.org

Are you sure it's working?  I don't see it there.
yes, there are more than 300 visitor
maybe my dns server not good
tomorrow i change it

I mean the logo.  I don't see it on your website. Smiley

Updated post #14 with a SVG of the provisional logo.

One more suggestion.

Maybe you want some subtle gradient on the blue?  Again, just a suggestion to try (if you think it makes sense).  I'm no artist. Smiley

Again, nice work!

I don't like the black background one.

Maybe you want the A in YA lowercase as in YaCoin.  Just a suggestion, let's see what other's think.

+1 for that.  100% agreed.
2253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ABOUT YAC AND JKC on: May 09, 2013, 12:02:19 PM
Feels that its about time for people to get tired of new alt coin every day. Its almost like all these garbage coins are having their own mini bubble and about to collapse hard, all it takes it for one new coin to fail completly - almost no miners at all, no thread responses, nothing.

Noone even tries to create something new anymore, just slap the new name/logo and create the new [ann] thread  Cool

YaCoin is quite new and innovative.  It's the only coin to really solve the GPU problem and, thus, level the playing field.
2254  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ABOUT YAC AND JKC on: May 09, 2013, 12:01:25 PM
YaCoin is different than the other coins because the intial coins were mined by millions of normal people with CPUs.  Thus, there's already a lot of stakeholders.

As soon as YaCoin is able to be mined with GPUs there will be another wave of stake holders.

This is different than any other altcoin so far.

For this reason I think YaCoin will be valued much higher on the exchanges.  Obviously it will go to an exchange.

I will comment the GPU issue here. Yes, it is possible to develop OpenCl or cuda miner for scrypt(N, 1, 1). But the CPU / GPU hashrate difference will be less than 10 times and will decrease over time. So GPU's contribution into miner's total hashrate (even in case somebody will implement this) will be like one or two additional CPU cores. This is because scrypt will need more and more fast random access memory with N increased.

Oh, and one more question.

Does YaCoin also implement long-term power efficiency like ppCoin?  I thought I heard something about it supporting PoS as well as PoW.  If so, can you explain how PoS works and if there's PoS mining, then how do we enable this?

Thanks.

You are obviously a genius.  Based on what you've just said, it sound like YaCoin will be far superior to bitcoin.

I will therefore revise my YaCoin outlook from bullish to mega bullish!  Well done.

A couple more questions:

1) Do you have any plans for an official website and bounties for merchants to start accepting YaCoin?

2) Can comment about the amazingly fast confirmation speeds, especially w.r.t. security and double spend?  I was pleasantly surprised how swiftly YaCoin transactions are processed.  It really makes a huge difference.  In the long-term, I can see YaCoin's fast transactions being a serious advantage for this crypto currency.

3) Finally, there is a very professional looking logo drifting around.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=196196.msg2084974#msg2084974    Have you seen it?  Will you adopt it?

Thanks for all your great work.
