2241  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 77% of Russian investors prefer Bitcoin to Gold and Forex on: September 05, 2021, 11:29:14 AM
I don't think Russia was ever friendly about bitcoin! Russian central bank executives have spoken negatively about bitcoin quite a few times already. Also if I remember correctly, Russia has been trying to build a tool which will trace any crypto transactions. So it's a surprising news to me that Russian people think Bitcoin is far better than gold and foreign exchange.

So I seriously doubt the genuineness of this statement coming out from their association. But if it's really true, then it's great to see such kind of positivity around ceyptos in Russia.
2242  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Afghanistan replace afghan currency with Bitcoin? on: September 03, 2021, 07:25:24 PM
Bitcoin may gain legitimacy in the country to recover from the economic crisis after the country was occupied by the Taliban. Moreover, the economic source of the Taliban must come from another border country. So for their economic prosperity, the government of the country is more focused on legalizing bitcoin. You can know all the details through the video link below. I hope you will watch the full video and you will find the video source at the link below.

https://www.indiatoday.in/newsmo/video/afghanistan-replacing-afghan-currency-with-cryptocurrency-bitcoins-1846934-2021-08-30?jwsource=cl

Taliban has already formed the government in Afghanistan. It's shocking but true! So with the Talibani government, I don't see even a slightest chance of bitcoin to become a legal tender there.  Talibans can use bitcoin for their own benefit but they wouldn't allow anyone else to do so. They are super regressive in nature and whatever Afghanistan was gaining since last 20 years, are all gone! Now the country has only one fate - hell! Bitcoin belongs to the high tech world and Talibans are primitive monkeys.

They will destroy the whole natural assets of Afghanistan in no time and leave their citizens to their own misery!
2243  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is ethereum taking the crown from Bitcoin as ehtereum reaches $4000 on: September 03, 2021, 05:37:09 PM
If you have been following the market lately ethereum has been showing some sign of bullish nature even when Bitcoin was struggling around 47k what can we expect as ethereum finally reaches $4,000 is ethereum taking over the market from Bitcoin what are your opinions on the present cryptocurrency market condition?

ETH is doing great for sure and we all are happy about it. But that doesn't mean that ETH is taking the crown from bitcoin. ETH is going through a change in algorithm and since staking will become the mining process for ETH, people are buying it heavily. It makes complete sense because people now won't have to buy expensive mining rigs, so they are buying ETH now so that they can earn a passive income without doing anything.

But again, that doesn't mean that ETH is taking the crown from Bitcoin. The king always remains as a king.
2244  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which game should I focus? on: September 03, 2021, 10:22:11 AM
I have been gambling for a while and I don't still get the consistency that I love.

Lol! I wish I can find a magic wand to get the winning consistency I love. But this is something beyond our control.

Quote
So I like to ask, have you ever thought of making money in gambling consistently? If so, what type of gambling did you focus on?

Not really! I couldn't get much winnings in slots. The only game I have seen a little better consistency is crash game. But we need to control our betting amount without getting carried away by the past winnings. Also I don't think skill based gambling is available in reality.
2245  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Spain bans betting adds - no celebrities, no sport sponsorship, no daytime adds on: September 02, 2021, 05:35:30 PM
https://www.sportspromedia.com/news/la-liga-betting-shirt-sponsors-2020-21-season

The new law has knocked down strongly all the preferred advertising options for betting business. They cannot, for example, be on a teams shirt nor celebrities from sports are allowed to promote betting houses or platforms. Also, the adds in TV can only be run late at night. Needless to say that is a torpedo on the finances of several teams and may affect their ability to recruit and maintain the right players.

Teams directly affected:
Quote
Alavés (Betway), Cádiz (Dafabet), Granada (Winamax), Levante (Betway), Real Betis (Betway), Sevilla (MarathonBet) and Valencia (Bwin).

Ohh heck! That's a big blow to the teams as well as to the gambling houses! I can see gambling houses are sponsoring many A listed clubs and also maintaining their visibility through the boards around the field. So they have definitely gambled big money on the popularity of football in Europe. This new law will discourage them from pouring in millions of euros into football clubs. I hope that no other europer countries would come up with such negative laws! Such kind of legal provisions are bad for gambling business!
2246  Other / Off-topic / Re: will we witness a blockchain based election in our life time? on: September 02, 2021, 05:02:13 PM
complete democracy is blockchain and as more people are adopting blockchain, i am really excited for blockchain based voting. no tampering with votes whatsoever.

You can see such transparent elections only in first world countries which can be powered by blockchain. But in first world countries, people don't believe in Electronic Voting machines so ballots are the preferred choice for them. So the chance looks pretty slim.

But in the rest of the world, we will never see a blockchain based election. Because a fair election can do anything and everything. So the corrupted government will never allow such transparent election to take place! EVMs will continue to dominate their elections.
2247  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-09-01] Twitter Beta Testing Bitcoin Tipping Feature on: September 02, 2021, 12:56:03 PM
It's an wonderful news indeed! Jack is anyway quite optimistic about bitcoin and it is reflecting in the project Twitter has undertaken. Even if this feature will be rolled out in US only for now, but we may see it launching in other continents as well in near future.

These are mainly granular level adoption which we all want to see with bitcoin. A revolution that started back in 2009, is taking shape slowly but steadily! That's what it matters!
2248  Economy / Economics / Re: Recent advertisement for Visa - what a joke on: September 01, 2021, 07:36:43 PM
I don't watch much TV on the TV itself nowadays, so I don't know if anyone has been talking about this ad or not:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbvl60_CZl8

"What a load of bullshit", I found myself saying aloud after witnessing that for the first time.  How can it be working for everyone when so many people in the world are unbanked?  And how much of the wording in that was deliberately chosen to mirror the kinds of things we say about Bitcoin?  It feels very much like a pre-emptive first strike on their part, possibly demonstrating some insecurities about the threat their business model now faces.

Anyone else get the sense they had crypto in mind when they wrote the script for it?

Lol! I too sense the insecurities they are facing from the emergence of cryptocurrency. I wouldn't blame the script writer because the brief of the content was provided by the marketing team. So the sense of insecurity has reached to the higher level executives.

But don't take everything too literally. If I keep the crypto part aside, I must say the advertising is great from branding perspective. We just need to replace Visa with Bitcoin. Can anyone with knowledge of video editing do that for us?
2249  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can we do what China did to gaming with gambling? on: September 01, 2021, 07:23:07 PM
Recently China passed a law that says that there's a break for children for playing videogames, I like this regulation because it helps kids reconnect with physical world and at the same time make them not dependent or addicted to the virtual space. Now here's my question, can we do that to gambling too, it can probably help the people to take a break and cool their heads off when they're on a losing streak or it can also be a time for some reflection as to when did it all go wrong for them to lead to this point.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2021/08/31/tech/china-ban-video-games-minor-intl-hnk/index.html?espv=1

Well China lives under a dictatorship. So the Chinese government can do whatever they want. Having a time limit for playing video games is nothing, they can even evict you anytime from your house if they need your land for any development work. So they can do whatever they want but that doesn't have an impact on the rest of the world.

I am sure no other government (except few dictator led countries) would want to bring any law that would restrict their citizens from any activity including gambling. That's just not possible because that will violate the basic fundamental human rights.
2250  Local / India / Re: Buying BTC in India on: September 01, 2021, 04:44:51 PM
Anyone live in India and unable to buy bitcoin on Binance or CoinBase?

My friend in India wants to know which platform he could buy bitcoin from in India.

There are hell lot of ways to buy bitcoin in India. Coinswitch Kuber is a great place to do so. But you have to keep in mind that it requires full kyc to buy from Coinswitch. You can also buy loads of altcoins from there as well.

If you are not much comfortable using Indian exchanges, use localbitcoins which is a company from Finland. There also you will have to do kyc but at least the chaces are less that your kyc info will land to Indian income tax department. Similarly you can use Bisq as well.
2251  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Japanese financial regulator considers imposing stricter crypto rules on: September 01, 2021, 02:41:07 PM
Stricter on whom? On the crypto related business or on the consumers? Japan has imposed 55% tax on crypto gains already since 2019. What could be more stricter for the consumers?

If the new rules will be imposed around security, insurance requirements and overall operating procedures on the crypto related businesses, then probably it would make sense! Otherwise Japanese people will give up crypto for good!
2252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ransomware, Cybercrime and Monero – Is the Bad Reputation Justified? on: August 31, 2021, 07:31:00 PM
Most cryptocurrencies are not as anonymous as some people would like them to be. After the hack on Colonial Pipeline where attackers demanded to be paid the ransom in Bitcoin, the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) could trace the transactions on Bitcoin’s blockchain.

Bitcoin is not an anonymous coin. Rather it's the most transparent coin where everything is recorded in blockchain and visible to everyone. Monero is a anonymous coin where you can trace and link one transaction with another. So the bad reputation is somewhat justified. Even majority of the darknet transactions arr powered by Monero nowadays. So there's no denying that Monero has actually empowered illegal transactions and anti socials to transfer money with ease. But we need to see how many percentage of the transactions are actually illegal. Unfortunately there's no way to estimate that!
2253  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: P2P Crypto Trading - Which Platform Do You Use & Why? on: August 31, 2021, 05:30:46 PM
Which P2P crypto trading platform do you use and why? I'd love to know about the ones you have used and your experiences with them.

Also, I'd like to know why you choose to use P2P rather than exchanges etc.

Thanks in advance everyone.  Grin

I solely use localbitcoins. I have used local ethereum as well for once and twice to sell off aome of my ETH holdings, but localbitcoins is my regular platform. But this is only used when I need fiat money. Exchanges are made for trading and not p2p trade so these two platforms are different and serves different purpose.

My experience with localbitcoins is very good so far. I didn't have to face any issue till date. Probably another reason for this is that, I don't trade with random people. I have a fixed group of traders who are reputable and I always check feedbacks from their most recent trades. I don't deal with anyone less than 1000 trades.

Localbitcoins is a market leader in p2p trade and their escrow and reputation system is robust. That's why they remained as my favorite platform.
2254  Economy / Economics / Re: El Salvador retirees protest against Bitcoin as legal tender on: August 31, 2021, 04:40:02 PM
To begin with, El- Salvador is a democratic nation and not a Monarchy . So their people have legal rights to protest against anything. So whenever a country tries to being in big change into any field, protest happens! These protests are either natural or ignited by the opposition. The second one seems the case here!

Also I don't think El-Salvador has made bitcoin mandatory. I don't think they have forced their employees to get salary in bitcoin. So if that is not the case, then I don't see any legit reason to hold such protests. That's why the connection with the opposition party seems more obvious.
2255  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ESPN into a betting deal worth 3 billion dollars $$$ on: August 31, 2021, 01:47:05 PM
ESPN is just looking for additional ways of revenue and to monetize their existing subscriber base. Since they are exclusively a sports channel, what else could be the best way to monetize their huge subscriber base!! I would say it's a clever step to safeguard their business and their shrinking footsteps in the sports market.

I don't think they will enter into betting arena by themselves anytime soon. But who knows! Business landscape is ever changing and a company needs to evolve to survive.
2256  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin move to Proof of Stake? on: August 31, 2021, 06:31:19 AM
Will Bitcoin move to proof of Stake? Does anyone know? What are the developers opinions on this matter?

Yes you can stake bitcoin and earn interest from it. Juat that it will not be actually bitcoin but some fork of it! There is no way for actual bitcoin to move to POS. I agree thay moving to POS may be great for more numbers of people to adopt mining easily but since bitcoin doesn't have a core group of developers, I don't see that happening!

Also I think it's good in the current state! Many people have invested billions to build their mining infrastructure. If bitcoin moves to POS, those will become worthless. No one would want to see their mining rigs sitting idle. So if cumulative opinions are considered, pow is going to remain!
2257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it possible to move medical records to blockchain? on: August 30, 2021, 06:35:59 PM
What do you think about moving medical records to blockchain? I read an article about this recently, it would be interesting to read your opinion

Yes, it is quite possible and it will be very effective as well. I am not sure about the name but I believe one ICO was working on this idea which was then promoted by late John McAfee. I don't know how far they have reached or whether or not they exist. But moving the medical records in blockchain can be beneficial for both the patient and doctor. Also the insurance frauds will come down because the data will be accessible to them as well.

But it can't be a public blockchain because medical data is very valuable and legally prohibited to share in a public domain. So it has to be a private blockchain.
2258  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Credit card bans introduced in Ireland. on: August 30, 2021, 05:29:26 PM
So finally Irish people have fallen for the same social taboo against gambling that less progressive societies face. Unfortunate! But I do support the ban on credit card gambling. It's not wise to gamble using borrowed money as the chance of getting into serious debt trap increases manifold. But what's with the advertising ban!! Gamblers would anyway know where to gamble. In the era of internet, advertising ban makes no sense.

If the gambling houses can't advertise on television, they would turn to social media marketing which can have even severe impact on new gamblers. Seriously, advertising ban doesn't nake sense!
2259  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Invest in NFT & Metaverse sector now, everyone can be an investment expert on: August 30, 2021, 04:28:57 PM
Reflecting on my several years of investment experience. Sometimes one has gone too far and just forgets the fundamental staff. My earnings rate after years of experience is actually lower than when I was a Newbie in this market. Knowing too much became an obstacle to my investment. The truth is always the simplest one. You just need to follow the trend. Ignore the complex structure behind each project, focus on the hot sector where the public believes. for example, NFT works' price has been rocked to sky-high, media are talking about NFT & Metaverse People are rushing into it. Invest in this sector, you will get a rate of returns that is out of your expectation!
I myself have invested in Axie, decentral before, got pretty good yields. Now I'm focusing on some emerging projects, like PixelVerse, X Protocol, etc. Looking forward a better yield Cheesy

NFT will be dead in next one year! It's just trending at this moment so people are looking into it. But after some time, they all will understand the fact that metaverse is a non-existent world in their imagination and it's no good for anything. It will continue to exist in some games where people will purchase in-game stuffs but the interest that has been generated, will all go down to drain!

It will have the similar fate as of ICOs. Like like ICOs started popping up in different names, similarly NFTs will start popping up in different names to make them look attractive. But eventually it will dry out, possibly within next one or two years!
2260  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Domino's franchise offering salary to employees in bitcoin!! on: August 30, 2021, 11:29:43 AM
I am not sure how many employees will actually take salary in bitcoin because of the volatility, but I like the positivity around bitcoin. People have shown immense interest in bitcoin since the timw lockdown kicked in and it is only growing till date. That's what it matters the most. It's really not much important how many employees are actually using this facility but it is important that a business entity is considering bitcoin as a store of value. Bankers have been resisted this to happen since a long time. It seems less number if people are trusting bankers on their financial mattera. From this perspective, its a win for us!
