At the time I am writing this the bitcoin is at 296$. It will soon definitely touch the 300$ mark. After 300 do you think its going to increase? Or are the greedy short term investors going to throw away the coins and bring down the price to sub 250s? What's your view on this?
in my opinion, after reaching $300 it is going to sTay there for a while and maybe go down just a little. but after this period it is going to start rising again.

Does anybody know anything about this? I received this email today in my junk folder and can't work out why they sent it to me if it's legit, i have nothing whatsoever to do with BTC mining. I'm thinking scam. Scam or legit?

If the OP just bought Bitcoin on the date he posted (2/26/15) and held it, his coins would've been worth $40 more each today. So at $255 per BTC on February 26th * say 10 Bitcoins for an overal fiat value of $2550. At today's prices, you would've had $295 per BTC * 10 for $2950 equals $2950. You would've made $400 fiat dollars just by sitting on it. If you didn't just BUY and HODL and look at some scam invest, trading, or gambling site....you just cost yourself $400 for doing nothing basically. Don't be a dumbass. Just BUY and HODL. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fjasonlefkowitz.net%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2012%2F10%2F3ran2l.jpg&t=663&c=qakucQoJzBTXUg) It would have been a completely different scenario if the coins dropped in value. Hodling is nice, I get the point, but it's not that bad to diversify your possible source of income because if one fails to get you profit, there are always other option that you can choose from and rely on. what you are saying is true when we are at a price bubble. it is the scenario of a while back when the price was high. now that it is in a big decline it is bound to go up.

i will happily sit back and watch the price go up since i bought at $200 ish. so to the moooon.

i think it is not going to burst to the moon like before this time. we will see a gradual rising in bitcoin price.

Do you think Bitcoin will be around in 5 years?
If so, how much do you think it's value will be?
Would you buy some now, if you couldn't use it for 5 years?
Feel free to express your opinion.
i think it will and also it's price will be more fixed than it is right now. the more acceptance and popularity will reduce its volatile price. and yes i bought some at the minimum price and Holding it for now.

it is the simple question of supply and demand, as the demand increases the price goes up. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supply_and_demandand i think recent good news on bitcoin and also accumulation by whales is the cause of it too,
|
|
|
Check it: http://www.coindesk.com/price/Earlier today, Bitcoin was at $289, and look at this now. What do you think is the cause? When will this uptrend end? it is going to stay at the price around ~$290 for a while now. then i think that it will go up again and pass $300 in the next week.

the only way to make "money" is when you have any kind of skill and do some jobs with it and get paid in bitcoin. other ways are just dust

Seeing all the replies I think I should start with trading avoiding all gambling, mining etc. That will be great to start with ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) its not about avoiding gambling. just you have to keep in mind that gambling is not an investment. this is a wrong thought that is becoming common between users that gambling is an investment and you are supposed to profit from it. NO it is for fun and spending money. I don't know why anyone would think gambling is an investment. The whole premise behind it is that the house has an edge, and they always win over time. You really shouldn't do it as an investment, but more of a "let's see if I'm more lucky than most people... when I have no control over what happens." because of the "Possibility" of doubling or tripling what you invested. but what people forget is that it is only a chance which is always low. and all this is when it is a legit gambling site not some scam coding which makes you lose.

I must ask how come poeple use faucets so often? I find I can never make anything worth my time... The only time they where semi worthwhile at todays price was when I used them in 2012, I made nearly a bitcoin after quite a bit of work!
well i visit faucets so rarely. on ocassions if i am free i open my bookmarks and do some faucet job to cover some transaction fees it looks like your faucet is doing fine. it is dried up again... ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) it looks like it ran out of funds...

Why do you need to edit that? As of current features , you can not edit it. But Have you tried to use the Watchlist ? It's pretty easy and better than that , the posts you find better , just watch or unwatch them.
Please read the above posts, I did try the watchlist. But where will you get notified of new posts? at the bottom of the page beside reply, there are 2 more options called watch and notify notify will let you know of new replies

i highly doubt if you can earn anything at all mining BTC with your CPU or GPU. you have better luck mining altcoin that way.

You can use my QUICKWALLET that I made which shows the balance of an address: It has no access to your funds and it cannot move anything, its basically just a balance checker to keep track of your balances of every address you own or just want to keep track of ex: satoshi's addresses https://www.btcdlc.com/shop/freebies-empire/Quickwalletit is a nice application. is it open sourced? i would love to check it out if you have any announcement thread here in bitcointalk

go to your profile and then go to "Notifications and Email" section. uncheck the options that you don't want. i have only checked the "forum announcement" thing. i think that will solve your problem

With the BTC slump cloud mining is mostly dead. There is a new breed of cloud mining websites popping up these days but you need to be careful. I just received my invite for DigitalX Mintsy beta yesterday, I signed up when it was first announced on Cryptsy but that was ages ago when BTC was still above $500. I haven't decided whether to invest, they've got 100 GH sha-256 3 months contracts for $59, also 10 MH scrypt 3 months contracts from the same. They're definitely legit and you can use your hashes to mine any coin you want from any pool. There is no maintenance/power or any other extras fees which is cool.
how is it possible to have no maintenance fee? are they running on free electricity with free equipment? honestly it sounds suspicious to me.
