22481  Economy / Speculation / Re: This is not "it" on: March 10, 2015, 09:23:00 AM
i think it is not going to burst to the moon like before this time. we will see a gradual rising in bitcoin price.
22482  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin be around in 5 years? If so, what's its price? on: March 10, 2015, 09:19:38 AM
Do you think Bitcoin will be around in 5 years?

If so, how much do you think it's value will be?

Would you buy some now, if you couldn't use it for 5 years?

Feel free to express your opinion.
i think it will and also it's price will be more fixed than it is right now. the more acceptance and popularity will reduce its volatile price.

and yes i bought some at the minimum price and Holding it for now.
22483  Economy / Speculation / Re: RISINg BTC on: March 10, 2015, 09:16:11 AM
it is the simple question of supply and demand, as the demand increases the price goes up.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supply_and_demand

and i think recent good news on bitcoin and also accumulation by whales is the cause of it too,
22484  Economy / Speculation / Re: When Will The Uptrend End on: March 10, 2015, 09:14:18 AM
Check it:
http://www.coindesk.com/price/

Earlier today, Bitcoin was at $289, and look at this now.
What do you think is the cause?

When will this uptrend end?
it is going to stay at the price around ~$290 for a while now. then i think that it will go up again and pass $300 in the next week.
22485  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best USB drive to store your Bitcoins on: March 10, 2015, 09:08:53 AM

22486  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to make money on this forum on: March 10, 2015, 09:06:02 AM
the only way to make "money" is when you have any kind of skill and do some jobs with it and get paid in bitcoin. other ways are just dust
22487  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: INVEST BITCOIN!!! on: March 10, 2015, 09:03:34 AM
Seeing all the replies I think I should start with trading avoiding all gambling, mining etc.
That will be great to start with Smiley
its not about avoiding gambling. just you have to keep in mind that gambling is not an investment.
this is a wrong thought that is becoming common between users that gambling is an investment and you are supposed to profit from it. NO it is for fun and spending money.

I don't know why anyone would think gambling is an investment. The whole premise behind it is that the house has an edge, and they always win over time. You really shouldn't do it as an investment, but more of a "let's see if I'm more lucky than most people... when I have no control over what happens."
because of the "Possibility" of doubling or tripling what you invested. but what people forget is that it is only a chance which is always low. and all this is when it is a legit gambling site not some scam coding which makes you lose.

I must ask how come poeple use faucets so often? I find I can never make anything worth my time... The only time they where semi worthwhile at todays price was when I used them in 2012, I made nearly a bitcoin after quite a bit of work!
well i visit faucets so rarely. on ocassions if i am free i open my bookmarks and do some faucet job to cover some transaction fees

it looks like your faucet is doing fine. it is dried up again... Cheesy
it looks like it ran out of funds...

Why do you need to edit that?
As of current features , you can not edit it.
But Have you tried to use the Watchlist ?
It's pretty easy and better than that , the posts you find better , just watch or unwatch them.

Please read the above posts, I did try the watchlist. But where will you get notified of new posts?
at the bottom of the page beside reply, there are 2 more options called watch and notify
notify will let you know of new replies
22491  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: solo mining with multibit on: March 10, 2015, 06:52:07 AM
i highly doubt if you can earn anything at all mining BTC with your CPU or GPU. you have better luck mining altcoin that way.
22492  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help - bitcoin disappeared on: March 10, 2015, 06:48:31 AM
You can use my QUICKWALLET that I made which shows the balance of an address:

It has no access to your funds and it cannot move anything, its basically just a balance checker to keep track of your balances of every address you own  or just want to keep track of ex: satoshi's addresses

https://www.btcdlc.com/shop/freebies-empire/Quickwallet
it is a nice application. is it open sourced? i would love to check it out if you have any announcement thread here in bitcointalk
22493  Other / Meta / Re: How can I unsubscribe from a topic? on: March 10, 2015, 06:43:19 AM
go to your profile and then go to "Notifications and Email" section. uncheck the options that you don't want.
i have only checked the "forum announcement" thing.
i think that will solve your problem

22495  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the best Cloud mining Site? on: March 10, 2015, 06:38:39 AM
With the BTC slump cloud mining is mostly dead. There is a new breed of cloud mining websites popping up these days but you need to be careful. I just received my invite for DigitalX Mintsy beta yesterday, I signed up when it was first announced on Cryptsy but that was ages ago when BTC was still above $500. I haven't decided whether to invest, they've got 100 GH sha-256 3 months contracts for $59, also 10 MH scrypt 3 months contracts from the same. They're definitely legit and you can use your hashes to mine any coin you want from any pool. There is no maintenance/power or any other extras fees which is cool.
how is it possible to have no maintenance fee? are they running on free electricity with free equipment? honestly it sounds suspicious to me.
22496  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What did you do with your bitcoin today? on: March 10, 2015, 05:39:29 AM

22497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trojan targetting bitcoin! on: March 10, 2015, 05:37:34 AM
as long as your btc are in a cold storage, malware/trojan cannot do anything

otherwise dedicate a network and a desktop exclusively to your bitcoin client, and don't surf or DL nothing on that machine, 100% safe, unless a real thief enter your house, but that's another story....

There is no need to dedicate a whole computer for that, you can much more easily create a virtual machine with all your wallets and rest of stuff u need to protect and store it on a usb drive.
Would make much more sence than having a separate computer just to hold your wallet on it.

cheers

virtual machine share the same network, it won't be 100% safe, i read that there are exploit to by pass virtual machine protection, strong malware/virus can do it

the point is to have a completely separate network
not necessarily. you can easily not define any network for the virtual machine so that it works as a computer with only minimum requrements like CPU, CD, and HDD and nothing more.
22498  Other / Off-topic / Re: If BTC goes to $1000 or more, what would you do? on: March 10, 2015, 05:33:51 AM

22499  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to explain Bitcoin to Chicks on: March 10, 2015, 05:29:49 AM
steps:
1. find a shoe shop that accepts bitcoin
2. make a wallet, preferably on her cell phone
3. deposit BTC in it
4. take her to that shop
5. let her go wild!
22500  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why PayPal and Bitcoin should partner up. on: March 10, 2015, 05:20:07 AM
many people believe that bitcoin should replace paypal, and we should be able to do all our purchases with bitcoin but i think the chargeback feature of paypal is sometimes a necessity.
