2261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Waves Desktop Wallet and Vostok Token Airdrop? on: April 12, 2019, 05:04:00 PM
I have waves in my waves lite client.  I never downloaded the waves desktop client.  I leased my waves as well.

Can someone tell me what is the official waves site to download the desktop client?  Also when i do this, i need to type in my 12 word seed?  Or is this not necessary because i already have the waves lite client installed on my computer?

I also read that there is an airdrop for waves holders that was posted in another thread

https://blog.wavesplatform.com/vostok-token-airdrop-to-be-extended-1981fd5520aa

From what i see, this is legit.  So this has nothing to do with leasing right?  Have you or anyone here has done this?

I need to use the desktop client to do this right or can i with the lite client?  I never upgraded.

HI there.  I asked this previously but did not do it yet.

I have waves in my waves lite client.  I never downloaded the waves desktop client.  I leased my waves to your address a long time ago and get things from it.

Can you tell me what is the official waves site to download the desktop client?  Also when i do this, i need to type in my 12 word seed?  Or is this not necessary because i already have the waves lite client installed on my computer?

waves support, few questions to confirm

I have waves in my waves lite app.  I never downloaded the desktop.  So i need to first do this or not?

Then i go to that site and post my waves address?  And that is all then i can get that airdrop?  When is that airdrop going to occur?  Or did it already did?

So 1 already has happened?  I did not know this because i assumed since i have waves in my waves lite app and lease them, i would get anything that is given out...

Thanks.
Hello!
Lite Client is out of date and we strongly recommend all our users to install a Desktop Client and migrate their accounts. You can install a Desktop Client for your OS here https://wavesplatform.com/products-exchange
To be eligible for the giveaway, you should sign a transaction via Waves Keeper or just send a small transaction to the certain address. All the details in regard to the second phase of the Vostok airdrop are mentioned on the following website https://vostok.wavesplatform.com/
After that, just fill in your Waves account address on the website which was provided above and check whether you got Verified status. When you will be able to see it, the only one thing left for you is to hold your WAVES and/or WCT assets within your address.
The distribution for both rounds of Vostok airdrop will be held when the latest snapshot of the second round which is scheduled for May 31 will be successfully ended. Soon after this, the VST token will be available for trading.

Sincerely,
Waves Community Manager

Hi.  I dont need to send waves anywhere though.  You say sign a transaction, that is done on that site vostok you posted?  You say send small transaction to certain address.  It could be any or has to be a certain address?

Okay so first vostok airdrop happened.  How long was this ago?  Can you tell me what ppl got for that?  Example say you have 1000 waves, what did those people get?  Also is that why waves price dropped a lot because of that airdrop?  I was completely unaware of this.  You say this is 2nd phase so 1st phase already happened?

Okay i have till like May to do this and this does not need to be done soon?

Hi.  So you are saying b/c i kept waves in my lite client and not that client, i dont receive any of those things you mentioned?  How long has those been given out?  I only used the lite client the entire time.
2268  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Delisted coins from Bittrex and withdrawal fees on: April 12, 2019, 12:46:25 AM
So you mean you have 2 coins there only right but minimum to withdraw is 14500 and thus u cant withdraw it?  So anyone that has less than that in the account is screwed??
2269  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES - Complete Blockchain ecosystem for a token economy on: April 12, 2019, 12:20:45 AM
I kept my waves in my waves google chrome wallet.  I still seem to get waves airdrops and lot of other ones that seem to be fake.

So we can get other things if we use the updated wallet and do something with the authenticating?  Can someone explain this?

Hi jerry0. Can you clarify your question, please?

Best regards, Waves Community Manager

I have waves stored in the waves lite client on google chrome.  I always kept waves there.  I did lease my waves as well a while back ago.

I read you should be using the new waves wallet the desktop one and not the lite client?  I never downloaded the desktop one if that is name of it?

Someone mentioned you get airdrops not long ago for authenticating something.  So does that mean i have do move my waves from my waves lite client to another waves wallet?  Do i need to do something to get the airdrop?  As of now, i know i lease my waves and get things like small amount of waves from leasing it...
2270  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to stay safe when browsing on hotspots or public wifi on: April 12, 2019, 12:18:49 AM
Tryninja, i dont use a vpn for my regular windows 10 computer which i do everything crypto related on.  I also only connect my wifi only and sometimes my phones hotspot when tethering.  I do not connect it to public wifi outside ever.

I use my chromebook to web browse and thus sites that might be virus, i dont mind because i have nothing important on my chromebook.  I use a free vpn from the play store for it just fine.

But you say if i use my win 10 laptop outside using public wifi, get a paid vpn and use it... but that will protect me when doing transactions related to crypto?  The reason i never use it outside is b/c i do not want to connect it to public wifi so i rarely have it outside.  If i do, i tether from phone but of course uses lot of data.
2271  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is upbit safe? on: April 12, 2019, 12:10:00 AM
These coins do have their own wallet but i never downloaded it.  I didn't download it a while back and keep it there because i didnt want to chance a fake wallet, so i kept it in on bittrex instead.

But now they are no longer allowing trading for NY account holders...bittrex.  So with my shift and beancash, what do i do?  Send them to its own wallet and let it stay there?  But what about when im ready to sell?  What do i do then?  I cant sell it on bittrex.  And upbit apparently no us holders.  So how do i sell my beancash then?  I assume i could trade my beancash with someone who could use bittrex and then send me btc for beancash and thats fine?  Like i pay them some extra fee for doing this for me?  That is fine right?

Shift, the exchanges that allow trading besides bittrex is upbit and livecoin.  Anyone have opinion on livecoin?  But i coud find someone who could use that exchange and exchange shift for btc and pay them a fee right?  That would work

The thing is i dont want to sell my shift nor beancash now because i would be selling it at a huge loss.

Now if binance has these coins, then i just send it from bittrex to binanace but i cannot do this because binance does not support it.

The last thing i want is to have these coins in its own wallet and i cannot sell it because i cannot use the exchanges.  But this would not be possible right since as long as i could find someone who has access to the exchange to help me out with this?
2272  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to stay safe when browsing on hotspots or public wifi on: April 12, 2019, 12:02:51 AM
What if you are using a free vpn?
Then you must be extremely careful with it. If you are not paying for the product, then you are the product. Keep in mind that the VPN you use may see and log what you are doing or even do worst things. That's why you must somehow trust your VPN provider, and there are not many free ones you can trust.

I don't recommend using a free VPN (especially a random one). The only one that has a free plan and that I (personally) would trust is ProtonVPN.

Just curious but i use a chromebook for my web browsing.  Thus if i visit sites im not sure of i use it instead of my main windows computer.

But if you are not doing any transactions with crypto or loggin into bank account or email, using a basic vpn is fine already then right if using it in public wifi?

So if i use my main laptop outside, unless i know its the coffee shop wifi for sure, then always use a paid vpn to make certain of this?

2278  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to stay safe when browsing on hotspots or public wifi on: April 11, 2019, 11:21:45 PM
So if you use vpn, then your are safe when using public wifi no matter what?
I don't think you are always "100% safe no matter what" with anything, but there is a huge difference between using a VPN and not using it while in public wifi. You should definitely use one if you can. Without it, you are vulnerability to MITM attacks and people seeing what you are accessing.

What if you are using a free vpn?
2279  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Saving your private key in your email is a lethal move on: April 11, 2019, 11:21:26 PM
Those people that say don't store it online even if you encrypt it, then what happens if something happens to your computer or usb physically?  Say a theft or fire?  Where is your backup then?  That is why i thought online backup has to be a must because if that happens, you can access dropbox or gmail and the file is there.
