2261  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [SALE] Philosopher's Coin 20 for sale Limited Edition on: July 20, 2015, 11:10:35 PM
It's a cool idea and I like the design, however there's a major flaw in your system.
In my opinion, the 6 BTC reward is what will draw some customers in. The fact that one customer can then post the codes online for everyone to see isn't really fair to the other 19 coin owners as they'd have had to pay to get the coins containing the codes and now their chances of getting the 6 BTC have diminished significantly. If I were you, I'd try finding a way of stopping gamut Hong like that from happening.
Not sure on what you could do about it though...

I agree with the other 2. People who buy this wouldn't do that because basically they would devalue their coin. If someone did I would not sell to them again obviously.
But after the the prizes are claimed I do expect the back of the coin to be public to prove that it was all legitimate and the 6 BTC was claimed and the private keys did contain the prizes stated. Well public as far as 90% of the codes on there. There is 10% of the code that leads to the private key of 10 BTC prize.

I just can not see anyone posting this online unless someone wants to jeopardise the project. So if anyone does they will be banned from further sales. I dont know anyone who would give away a treasure map knowing it would make them less likely to find the treasure and also devalue the value of the map itself.

I think its a good point worth mentioning but it wont happen and if it does the source of the image online will be banned from any other sales.

Well it could be someone who bought the coin who publishes it on condition that the person who manages to crack the code gives them x of the BTC.
Again, yes it is unlikely that someone would do that, but money makes people greedy and you can't rule anything out. You can be pretty sure that everyone who buys the coin will definitely show it to friends and family seeking advice on the code at the bare minimum. The fact is that the code will be shared, the only question is with who and the way of stopping it.
2262  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [ANN] limited serie's of 100 original Bitcoin Bullion Bars on: July 20, 2015, 11:02:22 PM
Well now it looks like my last post in this thread was pointless. If OP really did just buy a bunch of pre-made bars (which it seems especially because the bars say .999 fine silver as most fake silver bats made in China do) then it's quite shameful to pretend they're your own creation and to sell them as a limited run.
I guess we have to wait for OP to answer before we come to any conclusions.
If OP did in fact just add a number/serial to each bar, that still isn't sufficient as there will be plenty more bars produced and if that is the case I'd think that everyone who bought one should be entitled to a full refund.
2263  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Microsoft Surface Pro 3 (w/ Type Cover & Stylus) on: July 20, 2015, 05:58:39 AM
I used to have a hybrid laptop similar to the Surface. When I bought it (about 2 years ago) it was one of the best/most recommended laptops of its kind. However, I never liked the UI when using it because everything just seemed super small and disproportionate.
I was wondering if you had the same experience on the surface. What is it like when using it. I can see in the OP that the task bar shows quite small icons which would be hard to hit with precision when not using the keyboard. I know this setting can be adjusted but from your experience OP, how well does it run and how easy is it to use in comparison to a normal laptop?
Thanks
2264  Economy / Goods / Re: [opinion] 2oz silver clock alice-in-wonderland tuvalu 2015 on: July 20, 2015, 05:54:26 AM
It looks very cool. I've seen a few similar things like this before and think they're really neat.
What was the reason they went with Alice and wonderland though? I mean it seems like a pretty random theme to go with.
What I like about it is that it's something I'd openly have on display at home or in the office unlike having just a silver coin displayed in a presentation box. Those are more likely to end up in a collection in a box out of view.
2265  Economy / Auctions / Re: ►►► 2 x 2013 Lealana Silver Error coin *damaged hologram* - 2 DAY AUCTION on: July 19, 2015, 11:21:51 PM
A great set of coins sold at a great price. I was tempted to bid but held myself back. I really like the Lealana Litecoins and this was a great opportunity to get some more at a great price.
However, it seems like the demand for Lealanas have vastly decreased. It could have something to do with the large amount of coins on the market.
I'm actually curious to know how many more coins Smoothie plans on selling/auctioning and if there's a limit on the number of buyer funded coins that he's going to sell.

Its me guys

.....nice.   Grin

Im actually a bit dissapointed that nobody guessed me. I got 3 people guessing blazedout. also nubbins, bitmarket, wheresmycoin, quickseller, etc. Nobody even suspected  me Tongue
[/quote]

Don't be disappointed, I think we all just looked to deep because of the reward you were offering. I chose the users based on a couple of things. I firstly did a search for users on here who have dealt with graded casascius coins and who ship from North America. Although I didn't get anything concrete, I know that Bitmarket recently got a bunch of silver coins grades from ANACS including an MS-69 and MS-68.
I guess I just don't see enough of you selling ANACS graded coins.
2267  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] MS68 Casascius 0.1btc silver coin on: July 19, 2015, 12:10:24 PM
Well it can't be Monkeynuts as he's from the UK and shopping is from North America.
My second guess (it's been over an hour since my first) would be bitmarket.io
2268  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] MS68 Casascius 0.1btc silver coin on: July 19, 2015, 11:03:04 AM
This is definitely an interesting thread and looks like it's gonna be a bit of fun. When you say 1 guess per hour does that mean 1 guess per hour per user or what?

I'm calling wheresmycoin out on his bluff. We know it's you! Wink
2269  Economy / Auctions / Re: ►►► 2 x 2013 Lealana Silver Error coin *damaged hologram* - 2 DAY AUCTION on: July 19, 2015, 01:36:38 AM
I'm always after Lealana funded Litecoins but in this case I'm concerned because of the holograms. Do you know what caused the holograms to become daged over time? Seeing as they were in their capsules they weren't really exposed to the elements so what would the reason for the damage be?
It's a bit surprising too considering that the coins are only a couple of years old.

2271  Economy / Goods / Re: Buy any book you can think about, discounted! on: July 17, 2015, 07:38:30 AM
How much is international shipping and what are your discount rates? I'm interested so long as the method of how you get the discount is legitimate and legal.
2272  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Bitcoin artwork on: July 16, 2015, 11:40:28 PM
It looks good and it blends well making it have a realistic feel to it.
What did you use to make this and how long did it take you?
Do you have any other things that you've created? If you do and they're original, I may be interested in buying some.
2273  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Reverse Dice on: July 16, 2015, 11:37:38 PM
The most important thing about a dice game is provably fair I don't care if it is forward or reverse dice, what I care about is been provably fair, if you have that you have me.

Exactly this. I'm not sure how exactly you'd be able to implement that on your site.
Additionally, say someone makes a small mistake with the max bid allowance, the system may place some mega bets against the house which could lead to significant losses. Yes the same applies to regular dice sites but users are more careful because they know the system.
What I'd recommend is that by default the max bid is preset to a low level (say max 0.1) and this can then be changed by enabling the feature in the players settings on his dashboard.
Anyway, it's a very creative idea and I'd probably give it a go or two even though I'm not a big gambler.
2274  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [ANN] limited serie's of 100 original Bitcoin Bullion Bars on: July 16, 2015, 08:13:51 AM
Who would pay $40 for a fake silver bar when a real 1 oz. silver bar will cost you only $18? You can get 2 real 1 oz. silver bars for that price.

As I see it, this item isn't for people really looking to buy silver. If someone wants to buy silver as a means of storing value, then this isn't the item for him. (Just like silver Casascius coins also aren't).
There is a high demand for BTC related goods and this is seen as a collectable that people are prepared to pay a bit extra for.
As with most goods, the sale price of an item is not the same as the cost of manufacturing. Items are almost always more expensive because you have to take into account the design costs, costs of manufacturing, labour costs as well as various other factors.
An iPhone only cost $100 to manufacture, so why do people pay 5-8x of its value?
2275  Economy / Digital goods / Re: British Airways, American Airlines, Air Berlin tickets and others by BTC on: July 16, 2015, 05:55:01 AM
...that I'd use often were it not for the high risks involved...
There is no way of guaranteeing that the methods used to purchase the tickets were clean and legal and if something goes wrong I could end up stuck in a random country or facing charges domestically.

In acc in BA you can add <=6 friends/relatives and issue tickets for them absolutely legal.

I'm aware of BA's policy, how we're that's not what I'm afraid of.
Plenty of things can go wrong seeing as there's no way to prove that the tickets or points on your account weren't bought with a stolen credit card or on a hacked account.
I could be wrong and you could be getting the tickets legitimately, but because there's a high risk involved it just a isn't worth it because it can go badly wrong.
That's why I made the point of establishing a company. As an ondividual on here with no transparency there's going to be little trust. If an established company was offering this service and the buyer had a little more protection then it'd be something to consider given the various safety nets I'd have should anything happen.
2276  Economy / Digital goods / Re: British Airways, American Airlines, Air Berlin tickets and others by BTC on: July 15, 2015, 08:40:27 PM
This would be an amazing service and one that I'd use often were it not for the high risks involved. As many have already mentioned in this thread, there is no way of guaranteeing that the methods used to purchase the tickets were clean and legal and if something goes wrong I could end up stuck in a random country or facing charges domestically.
If you set up a company that actually specialises in this and gains reputation over time then it'll definitely be something I'll consider and most probably end up using on a regular basis.
2277  Economy / Auctions / Re: Graded 25 Litecoin Lealana sliver coin. Comes with a wooden box. on: July 15, 2015, 08:13:54 PM
I just remembered about this auction and was quite annoyed that I forgot to bid. Now having seen the reserve I'm not too annoyed as I wouldn't have thought of bidding near that.
There was a time when this coin was worth somewhere around 1.2 BTC but demand for Lealana coins have decreased as the markeys have been flooded with them recently in comparison to Casascius coins which are in limited supply.
2278  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bodis.com now offering BTC Payments! on: July 15, 2015, 05:49:50 AM
Bodis.com is a global site that offers great domain parking. When you park your domain with bodis you get paid per click for every person that clicked on a link on your domain.
they are one of the biggest domain parking companies in the world, and earlier today they announced that they'll offer to pay customers in BTC!

Here's the source: http://altcoinpress.com/2015/07/domain-parking-company-now-offering-bitcoin-client-payments/

Time to start parking your extra unused domains!!!
2279  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Controversial Backpage.com Warmly Welcomes Bitcoin on: July 14, 2015, 10:25:35 PM
I've never heard of backpage.com but I'm assuming this is big news.
Any site or company that decides to accept BTC is beneficial for the community. However, having read some comment above that claim it's the silkroad equivalent of Craigslist, you're going to get many more sceptics associating Bitcoin with crime and grey area goods.
I think the companies that will have a big affect on the price of BTC when they begin accepting Bitcoin include; Apple, Amazon, Walmart, Netflix and various other TNCs. It's important that it's an international establishment and not something unique to one country.
2280  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ATM Bypasses Capital Controls in Greece on: July 14, 2015, 10:20:16 PM
As mentioned above, besides for the lack of money circulating in the economy and the lack of people's hard cash due to being unable to withdraw from banks, this would be a great idea.
There was a photo of a man sitting on the floor crying because he was unable to collect his wife's pension. If only people like him would have converted some cash to BTC before the collapse and then used these ATMs to cash out on some of their BTC. Obviously it's easier said then done but it just goes to show that it's always good to diversify and spread your assets/wealth as much as possible.
