Once enforcement goes live, payments don't look like increasing at all since the masternode population has doubled.

Payments gone down below 1 DRK now.

Huh

That's the way it was always going to be. MNs were never intended as a get-rich quick scheme.

More MNs = stronger and more secure network = more stable investment = more valuable coin.

1000 MNs still yields nearly 20% annual ROI.
2262  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | Fork for Masternode Payment on: July 08, 2014, 10:49:03 PM
You missed the point, easily seen from within your own argument.

Publicly traded companies do what is required to reduce costs and increase profits. Use Darkcoin, remove FX and banking charges. Profits up. Check.
Publicly traded companies are audited. They need to provide details of all transactions. Use Darkcoin. Compliance and governance complied with. Check.
Publicly traded companies need to keep records of their business dealings. Store records or payers and payees using invoices. Check.

And this adoption will take time. Every large company I've worked for has been held shakily together by a few underpaid IT staff wrestling with years of legacy in-house crap, and harassed secretaries.

Just one or two big names being on the ball though, and getting that ball rolling... we can hope. Wink

Bitcoin 'going mainstream' will help definitely with public awareness and benefit DRK, we just need to keep pointing out DRK's advantages. Smart folk will pick it up, the rest will follow.
2263  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | Fork for Masternode Payment on: July 08, 2014, 08:43:08 PM
Why would you treat others the way you want to be treated? Wouldn't it be smarter to treat them the way they want to be treated? Not everyone wants to be treated the way you like to be treated so that's not much of a golden rule.
It's money that was stolen and should be reclaimed. You talk about being placid over taxes but I think the ones who are truly accepting are the ones just blindly paying. If you understand that taxes is theft and that money belongs to you and you have the right to reclaim it any way you can, then you should pursue it. Government money will just be used to drop bombs on brown people somewhere or to buy cheeseburgers for a family of degenerates so why not get as much as you can and put it towards something worthy?

If they kept the money they stole from you separated somewhere so that you could reclaim your money back, I would understand it.
But that's not the case.
Government makes you complicit by giving you the money of someone else.

Listen, if you are sometimes morally unsure in such situations, I found it helpful to replace the words taxation or stealing with the word RAPE. Then suddenly everything becomes absolutely clear.

So they stole from you, and now you think you can steal the money back.
So you were raped by government and now you think that you are somehow entitled to rape someone else.

That's also what you mean when you say "it would be smarter to treat them the way they want to be treated"... sounds very self-righteous to me.
I have the impression that your desire to be an anarchist doesn't come from moral principles but is more like an act of rage... And act of revenge.
You were hurt and now you want to hurt someone.

You never have the right to hurt someone. You only have the right to defend yourself.

I hope that one day, millions of people will stand up and hunt the tax collectors away, like they did before.
THAT would be morally acceptable. Not believing that one wrong justifies another wrong.

Uh, not quite. The rape has already happened, to you, by taking back what's yours you are preventing the government from using it to rape someone else.
2264  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | Fork for Masternode Payment on: July 08, 2014, 08:26:05 PM
Again, using social Marxism to try and pressure me into acting in what you define as a socially acceptable manner. Why are the people demonstrating, people attacked, 'punks'? I think most of you are in the wrong place, darkcoin was never meant to be a mainstream, good samaritan coin. it was meant for the dark web, for anarchists, and for libertarians.  It's so we can avoid illegal taxes and can purchase goods outside the spying eyes of big brother. There are two different types of anarchist, and we don't get along at all, actually polar opposite. And if you put these two types of anarchists in the same room they will never see eye to eye. I am an anarcho-capitalist.. the other is an anarcho-communist which is what an "anarchist" has traditionally been. I hate commies.

It's not about socially acceptable manner. It's about first principles. Do unto others as you would have them do to you (Golden Rule)

Punks are still statists who don't want to get rid of government, they would rather have THEIR OWN kind of tyrannical government to boss people around the way THEY like.
People who are demonstrating are never anarchists... demonstrators are still statists and still believe they can change government by playing by its rules (voting the right politician, passing legislation xy, etc)
Anarchists don't demonstrate, they simply boycott and refuse any cooperation with statists and government.

How can you be an anarcho-capitalist but desire to get free stuff from government???

Your "plan" makes totally no sense to me, desiring free stuff is totally socialistic to me (and you blame me for using social marxism???).
Nothing is free, someone else has to pay for it.
It's about the moral principles you know. You need principles if you want to be a true anarchist, or else you are just an opporunistic punk who gives a crap about society and likes to "game" the system for his own benefit.

Government is like cancer, I do not want or need ANYTHING from them.
If you accept free stuff from government, you are helping the cancer grow.
I am not going to use this cancer for my own benefit... instead I am going to shun it and help create the system I always dreamed about: Freedom based on morality and voluntaryism.

Why would you treat others the way you want to be treated? Wouldn't it be smarter to treat them the way they want to be treated? Not everyone wants to be treated the way you like to be treated so that's not much of a golden rule.

You already said it yourself, nothing's free. I have had to pay taxes on items I have purchased, so it's mine.

+1

Every penny you don't pay the bad guys in the first place is a penny they can't do bad things with. And every penny you can wrangle back out of them is also a penny they can't do bad things with.

Completely ignoring the enemy is not the best strategy.

and guns are stupid, period

Guns exist. The problem lies in the fact that the bad guys with guns often outnumber the good guys with guns.

All good guys and gals should have the ability to defend themselves and their loved ones, and their property.

Happy thoughts of puppy dogs and rainbows won't save you from being raped in an alleyway or extorted by armies of jackbooted thugs. But having a gun and knowing how to use it might. I am 100% in favour of gun ownership and good training. And I'm a Brit. Wink

Oh and reading this thread today has made me proud to be a part of this community. Smiley

@ r-ando - where do I find more details of your charity/foundation? I would like to contribute some of my Masternode profits.
2266  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | Fork for Masternode Payment on: July 08, 2014, 02:23:07 PM
The problem is address J is now tainted and could potentially link some things together if used for future transactions with F, G, and H (if used with all 3 simultaneously, it would 100% link the original A to B tx). Additionally, it has the further weakness of not being very useful for future Darksend+'s, as it won't denominate well.

The potential "fix" that's on my mind (maybe just a workaround) is to store up these "tainted", mostly useless addresses until you have them totaling more than 1 (or 5, or whatever), at which point they could be sent to a special "redenominating" pool (and maybe you don't even need a pool, I haven't taken the time to think through all the implications of just doing it like a normal Darksend+) for recycling back to standard sized change addresses. You would still end up with one sub-1 address every time, but that's not too big of deal in my view.

Any thoughts?

Does this become a non-issue if Darksend is mandatory? If not then yes, some in-wallet automagic might need to happen.
2267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | Fork for Masternode Payment on: July 08, 2014, 02:14:43 PM
Given the percentage chart posted earlier (soon you will need 100 masternodes just to de-anonymize 1% of the transactions), I think this is the real concern.  Just how much can amazon unveil if prodded by the gov't? This alone is reason for some sort of encryption even if it is a major undertaking.

I don't know, but from my limited software development experience I suspect that getting the machinery in place to process the transactions is the bigger job by far, encrypting the traffic should be fairly straightforward once Darksend+ is in place, and the developers will probably have an easier time testing without encryption to begin with.

In short I expect some form of encryption/IP obfuscation to be rolled out pretty soon after Darksend+ has been shown robust on main net. Of course it depends on the team's longer term strategy - what else they have planned and how it all fits together.

yes, but money laundering is and thats basically what a masternode does.

"Money laundering is the process whereby the proceeds of crime are transformed into ostensibly legitimate money or other assets."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Money_laundering

MNs are only obfuscating Darkcoin transactions, i.e. turning them into cash like transactions.
I agree. I don't plan to do anything illegal. But does this sound improbable?
A terrorist organization gets paid in DRK (They accept BTC now...) the transaction was somehow associated with a masternode. This node is associated with you. There's a knock on the door...

A terrorist comes into your shop and buys a sandwich. OMG you have aided a terrorist, the guvthugs will come for you!

Funny isn't it that nobody is worried about the 'actual' terrorists, but everyone is terrified of being fucked over by their own government.

Also when I try to create an account alias I get 'Invalid Account ID' with both the alphanumeric and numeric IDs.

Any tips?

There is indeed an issue with this and it will be fixed in the next version.

For now, just choose type other and have data as follows:

acct:xxx@nxt

(xxx is your NUMERIC account id), in next version both formats will be supported.
This workaround should do it for the moment.

Thank you, that worked. Took a block or two to 'go through' as it were, for anyone else doing it. Smiley

I had read that forging happens automagically when you have NXT in your account and the wallet is open and online, but my wallet (official 1.1.6) is saying 'Not Forging'

Also when I try to create an account alias I get 'Invalid Account ID' with both the alphanumeric and numeric IDs.

Any tips?

edit: I need 1440 confirmations to begin forging, only have 400, so will wait a while Smiley

Not as upset as I am about that bloody Chinese multipool not paying out to MNs and dumping for LTC.

They will get what they deserve, selling DRK for LTC is staggeringly, colossally, mindbogglingly stupid.  Grin

Because new addresses are used for denominations in the wallet, I think the 100 address reserve should probably be upped to something like a thousand? Otherwise the wallet backup interval will become too short.

Or, if it's safe and doesn't break anonymity, an automagic consolidate-change doodaa could be built in?

This looks like it goes a long way to defeating timing analysis too. Smiley

Does it add significant bloat to the blockchain?

I need a top secret flowchart remade, if you have experience making flow charts and have some time today shoot me a PM

Unless Evan's using some kind of coded signalling, I think he needs some street wisdom lessons.

"Could someone look after this top secret stuff for me for a moment while I do some coding - preferably someone I've never met in my life that claims to be both trustworthy and an expert in flowcharts".

EDIT: Ah, I know what he's up to. It's a deliberate diversion, he's going to leak the false plans then launch the real ones to fool our enemies into attacking the wrong flank. Nice strategy  Cool

Pre-emptive counter-espionage. Post some nuclear code on github and watch the 'competition' pull it, blindly compile it, and burn...  Cool

Darkcoin is now trolling it's own thread.  Roll Eyes

It's because of the lack of real trolls at the moment.

Some people here who ought to know better are exhibiting painful-to-read levels of delusional entitlement, and failing to see the bigger picture.

eltito I think is doing a splendid job. As are some of the rest of you, with special mention to duckmuy, who is patiently explaining the bleeding obvious to some of you ungrateful tools, as far as I am concerned.

I look forward to and enjoy reading updates as much as anyone, but releasing every last detail of a WIP is not constructive for reasons that should be obvious with a few moments thought.

'dreamspark' - unable to comprehend innovation. Spot the irony, eh?  Tongue

Nowhere did I say it wasn't innovative, I rode the DRK train... The initial innovation is what got the price so high in the first place.

This is about future prospects in regards to price and my opinion is that with all the anon competition and also the big drop in price that 0.025 won't be visited again, particularly if BTC rallies.

The thing about the competition is, they don't currently offer much. Not that this is any excuse for Darkcoin to stop driving forward, it has and it will, but without going into specifics, all the 'competition' has major flaws of one kind or another, and I'm not just talking about the underlying technology.

Darkcoin isn't perfect yet either, but it's way ahead right now and I think that lead will be maintained or grow greater.

The private banking/ecash market is potentially huge. I mean, FUCKING ENORMOUS, forget Bitcoin's poxy 7 billion or whatever it currently is. Getting a platform together that is robust enough and can scale to the kind of levels it needs to is no small undertaking, but I think the Darkcoin team and talented community have the best shot by far right now of doing it.

Just my opinion... Smiley
