2261  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Please Help Me Understand BitCoins on: December 08, 2015, 11:22:04 PM
Where do you buy them?
from excangers, from users in bitcointalk but you should use an escrow to avoid being scammed...

Where do you keep them?
In wallets, there's online one like blockchain.info where you can control your private keys which isn't possible with coinbase or Xapo for example. There is paper, hardware, software wallets (bitcoin core or electrum)... You can search in the forums or the wiki for more informations

How much is a BitCoin worth?
You can check the price BTC/$ in preev.com (there is an option to see bitfinex alone or Bitstamp or btc-e) or coinbase.com or all-in-one here https://tradeblock.com/markets/btcc/xbt-cny/30m/

2262  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Overview of Bitcointalk - COMPLETE AVATAR Campaigns [08-December-2015] on: December 08, 2015, 10:43:31 PM
But it does help while getting the monthly bonus, those who have it will be considered for a higher spot in the "Best poster" list, and possibly be reserved a spot in the next campaign..
Azguard I think it's not needed as it is optional and currently full.

Or/another option: you could simply mention the advantage of wearing the avatar at the end like this:
E-coin **
-------------------
''Compaign name'' - description...
E-coin: ''advantages (bolded text above)''.
2263  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: How do referrals work?? on: December 08, 2015, 06:54:05 PM
I will give an example:
For faucets using faucetbox: a guy pressed your referral link (example 15% referal commission) and claimed 1000 satoshi, you will receive normally 150 satoshi in your faucetbox.com balance.
For faucets like moonbitcoin, once the guy claimed 1000 satoshi you will receive (lets keep the same 15% ref) 150 satoshi in your moonbit.co.in balance.
Of course now once you accumulated the minimum amount to withdraw, the money will be sent to your wallet.
2264  Other / Meta / Re: What's up with all those spam bots? on: December 08, 2015, 06:25:10 PM
@shorena: from what I understood the new captcha is meant to replace the actual one when registering new account +/- in the first newbie post(s), so it will not have anything to do with the actual btctalkers Smiley
Since the bot didn't stop its random spam, i think implementing new captcha isn't harmful, if it will succeed to stop the bot then it is a good thing else we didn't lose anything. The actual captcha is useless anyway  Undecided

Edit:
so they are nothing more than an annoyance if you constantly check the "Show unread posts since last visit. " as me
Same Wink
2265  Other / Meta / Re: What's up with all those spam bots? on: December 08, 2015, 05:46:32 PM
Are there not any ones that are hard to bypass or possibly time-restricted to being filled in within 10-30 seconds or something to prevent cheap labour filling them out manually?

Afaik funcaptcha is the one that is hard to be bypassed by bots and i remember it has advanced options that make it even harder.
Demo: https://www.funcaptcha.com/demo/
In this demo you have only 2 rounds challenges, i remember you can make more (4 or 6 if I am not wrong) then he will need ~10 sec to solve it.

Edit: maybe this could be helpful
Step Three

Log into funcaptcha, then click "site settings"

Scroll down and click on the little gear, underneath "setup".

Then scroll down to the "security" tab select "always enhanced". Click save, then wait 5-10 minutes. Your captcha will now be alot harder for bots to bypass.

2266  Other / Meta / Re: What's up with all those spam bots? on: December 08, 2015, 02:38:10 PM
* implement captcha for people with less than 100 post.
Personally I think adding another (better) captcha to sign-ups and when you make your first post you have to fill one in would help but not with every post and theymos seems to think they're pretty much useless anyway and I trust his judgement on that as he's a smarter guy than me and knows what he's doing when it comes to tech stuff but I don't think it would hurt adding a captcha personally.

Well most of the captcha could be bypassed easily (recaptcha v1+2, solvemedia..), but afaik funcaptcha seems to be the best (+/- are you human). Implementing one of the first category is useless and if the owner of the bot insist in spamming then he could find a way, for the 2 others there is a chance to slower him tho.

Btw, i used to report the spam like this (spam bot in the bitcoin discussion section) but when I find too much i report 1 then I write something like: another 5 spam bot posts in the bitcoin discussion section, dunno if it is helpful/easier for mods to nuke it than reporting it one by one?
2267  Economy / Services / Re: Up to 0.035 BTC weekly for YOUR SIGNATURE *New rules on: December 08, 2015, 02:16:41 PM
When are the payments?

Afaik, you will receive your payment after 1 week at the same time you enrolled here, for example you enrolled Tuesday at 7 PM then you will receive it next Tuesday at 7 PM (not 100% sure but that's what I noticed)
2268  Other / Meta / Re: Hilarious bots posting nonsense: what's the point? on: December 08, 2015, 02:50:13 AM
There are always ways but it's about finding a balance without punishing everyone else to harshley but things are being discussed.
A good captcha is needed when register, the forum registration has a shitty captcha that can probably be overpassed by any amateur hacker, and then send bots to register thousands of accounts.

funcaptcha for example? Smiley since the others are bypassed by bots without exception.
btw i noticed few spam posts in the chinese section, didn't report it but here is an example https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=681489;sa=showPosts
i saw another one deleted before few hours with repetitive sentences but i think it is made by a human not a bot
2269  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: User "wmz1987" IS a scammer! Beware! **Proof in thread** on: December 07, 2015, 11:58:27 PM
you paid him on December 02 and until now he didn't pay..well i think you should do this
Quote
I don't want to reverse the transaction either as I still have hope he will eventually pay me the bitcoin owed.
don't think someone is being too busy just after you sent the payment, sending your bitcoin doesn't require too much time!

Quote
I realize that it isn't the best choice to deal over PP but I was okay with sending the payment first as he didn't have a negative trust level.
eh many scams unfortunately happened like this..
good luck

2270  Economy / Speculation / Re: Unable to break $400 on: December 07, 2015, 11:38:03 PM
...but we may stay at current levels a bit longer.
i am stressed now Grin apparently this week we will see the price changing direction, hope it will stay green  Smiley

Notice how there's an enormous pressure keeping it under $400? There is theoretical room to temporarily go up but there's a lot of pressure to keep it down. What do you guys think is going on here?
yea, what you said here is true but how long will it stand? many think the price will not go down again so they are buying, others wait the price to gain +x% to sell. Anyway passing the 420 USD barrier and we will start thinking of 500 before the end of the month
2271  Other / Meta / Re: WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE? on: December 07, 2015, 11:26:26 PM

And to think Xian01 made a "joke" about trying to kill Spoetnik, and did not get banned!

and about this, just in case you didn't get the answer and i am absent, i would say farewell
I am never making another thread again until THIS one is answered.

2273  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info on: December 07, 2015, 06:13:07 PM
With blockchain.info you have the private keys, mtgox was the one with the private keys.

Blockchain.info you own the coins, with mtgox it was mtgox who owned the coins, cryptographically speaking...
Yes, its a better system for users because of this. Of course you are still needing to trust the functionality of the website and that it has close to 100% uptime.

Close to 100% uptime is ~true but during attacks/ddos which happened frequently in the previous months , you will have a nightmare, i used blockchain.info for almost a year but I finally gave up and let only my empty address to sign a message with it if needed.
2274  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Mining service only mine dogecoin on: December 07, 2015, 05:52:01 PM
Not worth it at all--the economics just don't make sense.   In addition your trust level is going to prevent you from making deals on this forum.  You might want to consider that.

hey this my trust level are all fake give me simply for no reason by some stupid users

The users that gave you the negative trusts are pretty respectable one, but I didn't post here to just say this, you are talking about dogecoin and since I don't see anything related to bitcoin, i think that this topic belong to the Alternate cryptocurrencies section.
2275  Economy / Speculation / Re: 400$ was the top on: December 07, 2015, 05:43:35 PM
Price always moves up and down, that is the nature of the market.  It's $397 now. Last big rise went to $437. I don't think there is anything magical about $400. Personally I think we'll see $415 this time.

The price now is around 404$ while it is 395+/-1$ on the other exchanges, yesterday it was +2-3$ more than this, but the good thing is that the price is still standing in this limit and I would agree with you about seeing 415$ or even more soon, it is matter of time tho  Smiley
2276  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 21 cents per kw, Any way to mine? on: December 07, 2015, 05:27:35 PM
Yeah i thought that much, It actually works out at more like 23 cents a kw/h. Would it not even be possible to mine alts then convert to btc at a profit? (off topic i know)

Dunno how accurate this website is but it may worth a try http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency
You can calculate your earning of several altcoins + bitcoin based on the difficulty, power cost...etc, i made my calculation and it showed that I will have a huge bill without a real profit.
2277  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcointalk Account price estimator on: December 07, 2015, 05:14:28 PM
I have made an update to the site. A detailed post and activity period breakdown is now showed. Activity, posts, and rank is calculated by the site in-house instead of pulling data from Bitcointalk. This is more accurate as Bitcointalk can take several hours to update stats like activity and rank.

Nice update, I noticed too that it is faster now to get informations about the accounts but I have a remark which may not be that important, when someone for example made 5 posts in a period lets pick randomly 1 January-14 January then he didn't made any post in the next period (14-28 January) then he made 3 posts in the third period 28-10 February, the result will be like this: (didn't respect the form)
1-28 January : 5 posts
28 January-10 February : 3 posts
Wouldn't it better to be like this? Just to individualise each period
1-14 January: 5 posts
14-28 January : 0 post
28 January -10 February: 3 posts.
Just an idea that I got and want to share it with you. I don't mind keeping it like that too Smiley
2278  Other / Meta / Re: How about a Mobile Skin? on: December 07, 2015, 03:58:17 PM
You mean that UC browser from Chinese?

I mean dat one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.UCMobile.intl&hl=en
There is a Chinese Version, but if you mean that the UC browsers built by Chinese then yeah and they made a quite good job  Smiley
2279  Other / Meta / Re: How about a Mobile Skin? on: December 07, 2015, 02:36:29 PM
Please consider setting up a mobile skin so users could view bitcointalk better from a mobile browser.

Hello, try this then tell me what you feel: install UC browser (not uc browser hd nor mini just uc browser) then try bitcointalk.org you will experience a mobile friendly skin, if you feel there is something missing try zoom view (prefer this option).  Smiley
2280  Economy / Speculation / Re: T3h cupz0rz t3h h4ndl3z0rz - BUY NOW OR CRY LATER on: December 06, 2015, 09:25:14 PM
Cute graphic, but I think the price will not continue its rise like that, it will be something like _—Ż—————_————ŻŻ———_— until mid-2016 then I could share the same opinion.
btw 400$ reached on bitfinex few minutes ago.
