2261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Ethereum at risk of serious losses on: May 09, 2022, 01:14:16 PM
Bitcoin and Ethereum are falling and it has been quite some time now. There's nothing new to it.
We should just wait for a reversal to buy more and I guess until then it's better to stay away from the market.

P.S : Where are those people these days who say "I told you bitcoin is a scam and it will fall".
It's been quite some time since I have read those posts  Grin
2262  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Hard earned money - Busted in seconds on: May 09, 2022, 01:02:45 PM
It was almost two months hard earned money. Got busted in few minutes. I don't know why I wasn't able to have me within the limits. Just started with a $3 bet, but it went upto $98 and ended with empty wallet. This is completely unlucky, because every bets were placed to roll above 20 which means the winning probability is quite high. Anyhow I wasn't in control and I didn't follow the rule gamble what you can afford to loss. It was a money saved to repay a debt. Now once again the interest needs to be paid so to manage the debt for some more time. Unlucky me  Sad Sad Sad

That's what happens when we don't follow the basic rules of gambling. But I think you have learnt your lesson.
Most of us have faced this because of the uncontrollable urge to recover the money we lost in the previous bets.
Thus we end up using all our money to recover the amount we used since the start of gambling.
But it's better to limit our losses for the day and come back another day if we are losing a lot on a particular day.
Controlling the emotions is where many fail and hence lose all their money.

The recent bitcoin drop lead wheel's base prizes to 48 satoshis/lottery tickets/reward points, so I realized it was time to finally use all spins at once. These are the results achieved:

Not the greatest and luckiest of the results, but I liked to have been rewarded with more RPs than lottery tickets. Thanks to this, now I'm also able to exchange my RPs into satoshis. A very welcome extra bonus after spinning almost 1000 times! That is the impact of FUN over your earnings!

Good luck everyone, keep rolling!

Wow, those are some nice rewards but then again the number of spins are high as well. So the returns are quite decent I would say.
You are really lucky that you have accumulated more than 100k RP. Would you collect more RP or will you exchange them for Satoshis ?
I still have only 45k RP. Still 65k RP to collect.

There's nothing wrong with trying new things, who knows luck is on the site for us, but don't be too trusting by putting a lot of money on the site, before Credibility has really been tested for real.

That's right actually. There's always more room to grow and gambling industry certainly has one.
While we are already enjoying gambling these days many gambling sites get launched every week.
They offer a variety of bonuses and promotions but we have to be sure not to put a large amount in new sites because of the obvious scams.
Trying them out with small amounts and wait for them to be established should be the strategy for everyone.

Anyone is betting on the Bitcoin and ETH price in may month? I stated betting on 29th actually just to get highest time wedge multiplier. At the time it was around 86x however, suddenly the whole stuff got turned into opposite direction as we see the prices dropping due to bearish trend.

Basically I was expecting the market to go up but since its bearish, Im having dual mind right now. Like due to early month bearish trend it is possible that market will get invested heavily now and the prices might just go beyond 40k by the end of month. As of now, my bets are in loss for sure. How you doing with your bets?

@so98nn in my personal opinion it wasnt a bad time to wager, but sadly I dont believe the worst is over for bitcoins and Im further expecting more downfalls in btc prices soon. Lastly Im not aware of any positive news that can immediately reverse this downward streak, and I would indeed be very happy if btc prices could bounce back but for now one should look to wager on lower prices only.

I never put my bets so early in the BTC and ETH price predictions. It's just too volatile to predict.
This is the reason why I wait for the last day to make my final call and until then I just keep predicting in my mind.
I have noticed many times that the predictions in my mind fails due to sudden trend reversals like the current one.
This is why I put my final bets on last day and win most of the times.
2266  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SOL The Chain Goes down Again ! ETH 2.0 and upgrade is the only solution ? on: May 08, 2022, 02:14:18 PM
I am a long term Solana holder but right now I am feeling kind of worried due to the frequent issues in the Solana blockchain.
I am holding SOL for more than a year now and may be I will hold it longer but if these downfalls keep occurring I might have to reconsider holding SOL.
ETH is definitely a good option no doubt in that but it's good to have a diversified portfolio which was the reason of me buying SOL.
I am not really sure which other options to consider for a long term other than BTC and ETH.
All seems hyped up in a short term.
That's the problem with network and congestion due to all the minting of NFT's have cause more problems for SOL network which they need to solve somehow. This time again it took long to solve and the tps was around 1500 far below what they have promised and is capable of.
They do not have 65k TPS like they claim they do, that is the difference and that is the issue. You have to realize that the best case for SOL right now is to avoid any more further promises because if they keep promising something then we are not going to see anything get done with the previous promises since they weren't even covered.

What we need right now is the profits it could make in the future, and that will only happen with fixing the problems of today. Or the better option is to actually let it be and that way you will be able to just focus on ETH 2.0 or anything else, and make a profit, or even some other coin/token instead of SOL because they keep failing all the time.

Right now, almost every coin is just keeping on falling. So the best thing to do right now is stay low from investing and wait for a reversal.
We don't know if SOL will be able to get back stronger when the trend reverses. So it's better to wait until then.
If SOL does increases in price faster than other coins in future then may be we can consider holding SOL.
Otherwise it will be better to invest in other coins.

That's fantastic. The mere thinking that you are keen on making your students learn more about technology shows how good you are as a person.
There are many courses online that you can refer to and include it in your program.
Can you recommend some of these online courses you think might be useful. Thank you.
Also, if you don't have much resources for the computers then you can get one laptop/computer and tell your students to operate it taking turns one by one.
This way all your students will be able to access a computer at least for a specific time.
There are thirty five students in a class. One computer won't do it, I will try to get at least 5 PCs for class projects. My PC is available so I have one already. The remaining four won't be much of a problem as long as I promise to return them in good condition.

There are plenty by the blockchain council. I have done one myself. It's the certified blockchain expert which is a beginner level course.
You can check out more at https://www.blockchain-council.org/
Also, you can use the search box on this forum to get threads about learning resources and courses listed by other forum members.
Last but not the least there are many Youtube channels which provide knowledge on crypto so you can use those too.
Example: Here's a blockchain course by Edureka https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCvL-DWcojc
2268  Local / India / Re: 30% TAX and 1% TDS applicable dates on: May 08, 2022, 12:56:06 PM
IS 1% TDS on purchasing crypto and transferring to non custodial wallet applicable? or TDS is only applicable when you sell.

As others have mentioned above, TDS is applicable when you are selling your coins on an exchange.
If you are holding any coins on a non-custodial wallet or transferring from one wallet to other then TDS won't be applicable on it.
We will get more clarity on it when the new rules are implemented.
2269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MicroStrategy Finance results unveils how whales suffer big loss. on: May 06, 2022, 04:51:50 PM
The company with the highest amount of bitcoin as of march 31st holds about 129,218 BTC worth 5.8 billion dollars when bitcoin price was $45,602 per 1 BTC. Many bitcoin users envy the whales during the bullish run because of the huge profits they bag and don't consider how bad is their losses like when the market plunges down. According to coinmarketcap MicroStrategy had a big loss of $1billion within one month when bitcoin price dumped to $37,800. On the other flip before considering how big the amount is, it's not totally a loss on their investment knowing that they bought bitcoin at the price rate of $30,700. But, the main point is, the higher the amount of bitcoin a person holds determines how huge their profits or loss will look like when the market is bullish or bearish.

I don't know why is this such a big deal because every entity holding bitcoin has invested in it knowing the fact how volatile bitcoin is.
If a person has invested even $100 then he would encounter the same percent of loss as microstrategy if both their buy and selling prices are same.
So whether or not the amount is big or small, the profit or loss encountered as a percent is still the same depending on the buy/sell price.

Wondering what I'm doing here? To give a little back story, I have been assigned to a secondary school (high school for those in the United States) for my national youth service as part of the  mandatory one-year programme for graduates of tertiary institutions. I have been assigned as computer science teacher for the senior class in a school where there are no computers. I guess the students are expected to learn only theory and let their imagination do the rest. I want to give the students a different experience other than the one they are used to. I'm a Bitcoin guy, I wear a Bitcoin shirt to work. I'm practical about bitcoin and want to integrate Bitcoin and crypto as topics in my teaching practice. I am preparing a course outline and borrowed some beginner topics from bitcointalk. I will be borrowing computers from nearby centers for class projects when the time comes. I don't know what to expect from the students, any suggestions will be appreciated.

That's fantastic. The mere thinking that you are keen on making your students learn more about technology shows how good you are as a person.

2271  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: American University, Bentley now accepts crypto's for tuition payments. on: May 06, 2022, 04:16:00 PM
That's a good move by the university and it will definitely create some awareness since so many people will come to know about this news.
At the same time, along with accepting crypto as a payment, the university should have also launched courses on cryptocurrencies and blockchain.
This would have encouraged others to do the same. This would have made people more aware of how crypto and blockchain works.
This would have increased crypto adoption as a whole.
2272  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Saved Me. on: May 06, 2022, 03:59:13 PM
After I lost my money on different investments, I was devasted but was introduced to crypto. I had no money but somehow I learnt a little on how to trade on Bitcoin. To my surprise, the little I learnt, I decided to start with 2,000NGN as that was all I had. To my surprise, following the guide I was given and with consistency, I started making profit from my trades and that brought smiles to my face. With Bitcoin, I have been able to recover thrice the money I lost to investments. Crypto (Bitcoin) is the way forward.

You say that you started with 2000 NGN and at the same time you say that bitcoin saved you. Isn't that contradictory.
Also, I have never ever heard of NGN. What is that anyway ?
Could you also tell us how you made thrice the amount you lost ?
2273  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: He Lost His Investment. See what Happened! on: May 05, 2022, 04:08:04 PM
1. How do we evaluate capability and credibility of some entities or individuals that trade for people or some professional traders who trade for people?

I don't think you should follow entities or individuals who trade for others. If they are so good at it then they won't require to trade for others.
So the ones who offer their trading services are probably fake.

Quote
2. I've seen some Telegram group that sell trading services and signals advice. How do we know if they are good to do business with?

It's quite simple. They are NOT good to do business with. Avoid all of them.

Quote
3. Is Telegram escrow system a scam  or not?

That depends on the identity of the person. For example there are people on this forum who offers to be an escrow on telegram.
So verify that the person is genuine by reviewing them on this forum and confirm the same on telegram and then proceed with the escrow.
2274  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The Easiest Way For New Traders To Profit From The Crypto Market on: May 05, 2022, 04:00:58 PM
OP is basically talking about copy trading which is the dumbest thing to do in my perspective because in this style you are not trading yourself but just copying someone else.
So the control is not in your hands and you make or lose money depending on the person you copy.
If he loses money then you lose money as well. Real trading is when you do the trade by yourself and not by copying someone else.
2275  Local / India / Re: 30% TAX and 1% TDS applicable dates on: May 05, 2022, 03:47:38 PM
Starting 1st of April 30% tax on income from crypto and other virtual assets will come into effect and 1% TDS will come into effect from 1st of July. I am not sure whether the tax will be charged by the Indian crypto exchange or a user has to separately pay it. Does anyone here have the answers? If yes then, please reply here.

There is no official guidelines available till date. However, if the exchange is deducting the TDS, that should reflect in your 26AS form. That will give our government an idea on how much value you have transacted. Crypto exchanges will no be deducting 30% taxes, it's highly unlikely! So you have to keep track of all your crypto to fiat transactions. That 1% TDS will help you match you taxes with the calculation.

For example, you see that crypto exchanges have deducted 1000 rupees TDS in the entire financial year as per 26AS form. That means, your taxable crypto transaction value must be 100,000 rupees. So you are expected to pay 30,000 in crypto taxes.

So basically we just multiply the TDS by 30 to get the require amount of tax to be paid.
For example here 1000 rs is TDS and so 1000 x 30 = 30000 rs to be paid as tax.
But then I have a doubt. 30% tax is applicable on the transacted value or net income/profit.
I think it should be from the profit because if I am using 100000 to get a profit of 10000 then why would I pay 30000 as a tax.
2276  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: PH banned online cockfighting - Worst gambling-related cases recorded! on: May 05, 2022, 02:53:47 PM
But since the hype of online cockfighting here, there are lots of recorded negative effects of gambling up to this date. Some people sold their houses, cars, gadgets, and even a "kid".

Now that's too much. I have never ever heard of such an incident where anybody sold their kid just so that they can gamble more.
If things are worse at such levels then banning cockfighting is the best thing to do as it would at least make things better hopefully.
The government can find other ways to generate revenue but conditions like this are definitely worst.
2277  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: May 05, 2022, 02:05:35 PM
The further greater thing is that, by logic, if they keep doing this, they have to give all 21 million to their users eventually. That is exactly what this means, obviously, the users withdraw, but if nobody ever withdrew, then the amount they have ot pay keeps growing more and more and more eventually reaching 21 million, obviously, this is the technical approach. We all know that between all the people who are gambling, and the withdrawing, we are not going to have anything remotely close to that, this is just the math behind it to make sure that people realize how amazing what they are doing is.

I don't think that's how it works. Freebitco.in will only pay the users until their bankroll is not completely empty.
Obviously they would have thought this through already and will have a threshold limit after which they would announce that freebitco.in is going bankrupt.
May be after that announcement they will stop the operations for the time being and pay all the users their money.
May be once all of that is over they will raise funds and start their operations again but certainly they won't be so dumb to keep putting BTC in user's accounts until 21 million BTC lol. That sounds absurd

Or they might just cancel (or at least reduce) the bonuses associated with bitcoin staking. Obviously, they are not obliged to do so indefinitely. It's a business decision. As long as they can see a way to maintain profitability, they will be good with it. But sooner or later it will be to their advantage to eliminate or reduce these bonuses because it is not the core of their business model. They will have to find new ways to attract more new people to their system.

Ofcourse it's gonna be a collective decision in that case. But looking at current stats I think freebitco.in is doing pretty good.
The FUN token partnership and also the sibling gambling sites must be giving additional profits to freebitco.in
It has been doing great for all this years and so I think it won't be going bankrupt any time soon.

If they can't handle a simple NFT tool then the question arises that how can we trust it for large scale applications.
I think it would be a good option to diversify now by taking some amount out of SOL to buy other potential coins.
I am not saying to sell all SOL but at least some of it. What do you guys think ?
2279  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My First Crypto Mistake on: May 04, 2022, 02:36:12 PM

Can you remember your first crypto mistake?

Well to be honest my first crypto mistake was actually not to trust bitcoin enough to invest in it when I first came to know about it.
At that time bitcoin was trading around $250 but of course it was a huge amount for me back then which I couldn't afford to lose.
But at the same time I wish I could have invested at least some money into it and hold on to it.
And then there are other mistakes like participating in pump and dump groups, signalling groups and ofcourse later on Bitconnect !!
2280  Other / Archival / Re: Why has bitcoin adoption failed in El Salvador? on: May 04, 2022, 01:15:10 PM
OP is right that the government hasn't taken the right approach to implement bitcoin as a payment method in El Salvador.
Directing users to Chivo wallet is the last thing that the government should have done.
Bitcoin is decentralized and so the government should have not promoted a single wallet.
The reason why many people were against bitcoin may be because most of them lost money in phishing and scams.
They should have made every citizen learn more about bitcoin by conducting events, lectures, workshops etc...
This way many citizens would be able to secure their money from these scams and may be this would have increased bitcoin adoption in El Salvador.
Only through a centralized wallet it is possible to provide a signup bonus. For that reason El Salvador government might've decided to go with the Chivo wallet. When people were given with little bonus, they'll atleast intend to know what it is. Here the people received the bonus and further stopped using it. This is where the problem arises, and for this government should take some measures to make use of bitcoin on real-time needs. This can be provided with some discounts when paid with bitcoin. With time surely growth will happen. Also now it's to early to conclude the happenings within El Salvador.

That's a stupid approach at first place. If I were at his place then I would have instead suggested all the citizens to learn about bitcoin.
I would give free courses to them and hire teachers to make the citizens learn about bitcoin.
Then I would conduct an examination and whoever passed the exam would receive the same reward in BTC.
At least people would have got to learn more about bitcoin this way and still enjoy the reward in their wallets.
