Is there a way to back up the merit tree to try to detect merit rings? It has too too many variables, so I'll pass on this one.

You've taught me a new word, had to look up "pagination". I got it from theymos too ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) After doing a bit of reading I still don't particularly understand exactly what is lacking currently. Does that mean, in this case, that a more modular approach would be required? I'm trying to understand exactly what is causing the time-outs, and exactly what pagination means in this context. Pagination is what you see under this page: Pages: « 1 2 3 [4] AllWell, I don't think the "All" is pagination, the rest is. I think the time-outs were caused by loading too much data at once (just guessing here). I also don't understand how this thread would become obsolete Good point. My original idea was to have a bot running in this thread, the obsolete means there's no point requesting data anymore, as it's already available.

People shouldn't be encouraged with monetary rewards for this because it will just lead to abuse and is one more system to game. Exactly! I have a much better incentive: with Merit, I can help improve the forum. Note that merit sources don't have "quota", it's a maximum. I think that most merit sources do not need any merit. Actually merit sources should not need merit at all. To avoid conflict of interest.
Merit isn't only meant to rank up, it's also meant to highlight quality posts. Exluding people from that doesn't make sense. Give us extra, unpaid work to read more posts than usual to find some worthy of merit, then penalize us so we can't advance in rank?
How can you advance forward legendary? Vod and I are in a quiet race. First, he congratulated me on overtaking him, then he overtook me, and now he's closing in again ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)

I'm experimenting with making a graph per user, showing the number of Merit sent and received per week.

Thanks for your help. I have the address the BTC was sent to and confirmed it is still there. how do I import the receiving address to my electrum wallet? You can't just import any address. Your wallet either has the private key, or it doesn't. If it doesn't have it, something somehow went wrong, and your funds went to an address you don't control.

Bitcoin will never go below $5,835 ever again! (24th June as per CMC). So I'm calling this the real bottom.
This man is a genius! I thought of this only after making my post, when the price went up right after I called for a $5134 bottom. Now it's easy: if it doesn't drop anymore, you're a winner ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)

1.2 BTC was stolen - waiting 4 days They do not answer emails. Are you willing to post your Letter of Guarantee in public? I know it's a lot to ask, as you use a mixer for privacy. So far nobody has been willing to publish it, and public proof would be the last nail in the coffin.

I have the same problem. I think my ban was because of IP issues, we cannot access the forum from Turkish IP’s therefore i used VPN several times... I would be so happy if you check the situation... still banned. As far as I know, this forum doesn't ban people based on their IP, unless it's a spammer using many accounts. Posting in this thread, right after I reminded the OP ban evasion is against the rules, is not smart. Username : sturec And you are a spammer. Your last 4 posts (shortened): Great idea. Nice project, liked the idea. the project is looking neat.

Well I've put him on ignore, so he won't get any merits from me. I have mixed feelings about this. Although I don't appreciate the "merit shopping", I understand his frustration too. He's not a total spammer, his posts (if I ignore the many social media links) are quite decent, and I don't think he's one of the spammers for which the Merit system was introduced. He's also not making a secret about it. He could have moved his threads without anyone ever noticing why he did it. Update for the sake of argument while playing Devil's advocate: what if I move a thread from altcoin discussion to another board, not to earn merit, but because my thread quickly disappeared due to the massive spam on the altcoin board? I would like to have more readers and responses, so moving the thread would make sense if it also fits another board. Would that be frowned upon as much as moving a thread to earn more merit?

Thanks for the information anyway. I hoped that the ban was only for 7 days..... As far as I know, this happens if you get a permanent ban during your temporary ban. Rules are so strict on this forum. If only you would have read them, you'd know that your "great project" spam is ban evasion and not allowed: Great project. This will be an ideal crypto to use for everyday trades and transfers. I will invest for sure in this company. But you don't need to read rules to know plagiarism is illegal in most countries. Copy: Love the idea of an exchange where there are also different pairs form the standard ones. The app for mobile devices would be great since not many competitors havea good one.

Is there no way to report them and have the website taken down? Not everybody will read this thread. I don't think there's much we can do about it. I've been keeping a list as I go along, and find quality posts. My idea was to come back to this list, and merit those on it. However, the list keeps on growing, and I find myself meriting current posts rather than those on the list. I often read about the flow of merit getting less, and I've only seen relatively new users "complain" about the fact that they don't have any sMerit to send. When I closed my merit source application, I still had plenty of sMerit left, and I've only recently decided to merit more posts (after I realized "good posts" deserve merit as well as "excellent posts", because the Merit system wasn't introduced to stop people with good posts from ranking up). And here you are, running out of sMerit all the time! I've randomly checked 3 posts merited by you, and as expected from previous observations, they are good choices. I've merited one of them, and a few from your "10 posts" too. To summarize my 2 Satoshis: I support your application! While waiting (it took me 3.5 months), and since I have some sMerit left to give, feel free to PM me your list of worthy posts. I especially liked reading Carlton Banks' post, so reading your list may bring me to parts of the forum I don't usually read. No guarantees though, as I expect many long posts to read ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)

Big news for Blackbytes: Today is a big day for blackbytes: now they can be sent to anyone, even if they are not in Byteball yet, no pairing required. https://medium.com/byteball/private-textcoins-6a2288d80757![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2F5nr6iqE.png&t=663&c=iGtVE4sg46rEkQ) This is part of version 2.3 released today https://github.com/byteball/byteball/releases* Blackbytes and other private assets can now be sent as textcoins. Private textcoins are files with .coin suffix, they can be sent over email, chat apps, or using a USB stick. The file contains the mnemonic, which allows to derive the private key, and private payloads together with their entire history, this is exactly the history which is *not* posted to the public DAG. Double-clicking the .coin file opens the app and starts claiming the textcoin (it can take a while as a long history needs to be validated), the file can be also drag-n-dropped to the app. * Ability to sign arbitrary message to prove one's address. The signer doesn't need to have any bytes. The text to be signed is offered in chat, the signer clicks it and signs. * Ability to spend unconfirmed funds. It will be enabled in the validating code at MCI 2909000 but standard wallets will not be able to select unconfirmed coins as inputs until the next update. Developer projects such as BIoT (which uses payment channels for streaming payments between IoT devices) can immediately take advantage of this update. It is a breaking change, all full nodes will have to upgrade. * Extensions of smart contract language. It is a breaking change, all full nodes will have to upgrade. * Fixes in determining finality of transactions. It is a breaking change, all full nodes will have to upgrade. * Fixes in multi-send feature on non-US locale. * Fixed the display of confirmation message when posting data (data feeds, attestations, etc) from a multi-sig wallet. Now the message includes the data being posted. * Multiple small bugfixes This is a mandatory update for all full nodes (both GUI and headless).

He also could be deceased. Bad things happen to talented people all the time, but since I don't think anyone here knew him IRL, there's going to be no way of knowing this unless he returns.
I have a strong feeling guess #2 is the correct one. He's been gone from the forum for a while before, and don't forget he only started posting in December, while he registered in March. My guess is he'll be back at some point.

My bottom guess, based on some totally arbitrary line drawing on https://bitcoinaverage.com/en/bitcoin-price/btc-to-usd in Log view, is $5134. But I'm more interested to see when it'll reach it's next ATH again. It can take years like it did after 2013, or it can happen much faster. All I know is that many people are just waiting to jump the train, the instant it takes off. And there is of course the halving in 2 years (Bitcoin started to rise a few months after both previous halvings), and Lightning Network rolling out (hopefully soon).

I'm not expecting a huge drop, but if I sell at 6000 and buy back at 5500, then that is still more money for me. And more money for me is more money for me. Threads like this are always written with an agenda. So you're hoping to influence people to sell so you can buy at a lower price? I don't sell low, I sell high. I don't care if it takes years.

If the message verifies successfully, you are redirect to a set a new password page That creates another angle of attack: people lose (or even sell) private keys, which would give someone access to their account.
